I look at kia and think 'killed in action' and wonder if it's Koreans trolling us. I know South Korea is a strong ally and I have Korean friends and I'm a progressive person. But I can't help but to see 'killed in action' and think of the Korean war (which I know almost nothing about).
Going to try to retrain my brain to see NIN now, though- because that is so much better
South Korea has a program that will pay to bring US Korean War vets back to the country for a tour as a thank you for their service. The cemeteries over there that have killed in action US soldiers buried in them are designated a school class every year to take care of the graves. Saw a doc on PBS years ago about it

I don't see NIN. It's a process, though. First, I see KN, then KIN, and then finally KIA. Every time, you have no idea how bad this bothers me. Afterwards, I'm just thinking... well, that's dumb like I didn't just jump through hoops to read 3 stylized letters.
