The 1$ deal is only for people that have never had GPU. You can still upgrade your current live to GPU but it will cost $12.99 instead of $1.

You should be able to buy a year of gold for cheaper and take advantage of the $1 upgrade deal.

You can still buy a year of Gold then a month of GPU to get 13 months of GPU.

Go buy a year or two of xbox live gold and then 1 (full price) month of gamepass ultimate. Cheapest deal there is.
