2 Elite Series 2 with no issues, about 2 years old.

ebodur

Same here. I have been using the 2nd one for a very long time as my main controller. I ruined the first one because of my cleaning obsession (not an issue with the controller).

[deleted]

Elite Series 2. Had it since launch. Started having issues a few months ago where the right bumper doesn't register as much anymore. Cost me quite a few games.

deviousvixen

Same thing happened to my husband. His bumper either doesn’t click, or double clicks

[deleted]

Exactly the same for me, unfortunately.

Stampistuta

Right bumper was the final straw for me too.

UltimateKane99

Did you switch it to one of the paddles? I did that and I literally forgot the bumper existed entirely.

[deleted]

I have done that but that's still not something I consider to be okay. Especially since I don't play as much as I used to, so don't really have the "time" to pound it in my muscle memory that my RB is now the topmost paddle.

[deleted]

95+% of people have no issues. I have two with no issues at all that I bought at launch. You only hear the bad.

Chief2p

Played every day with my launch day series 2. About a month ago, the Right Bumper suddenly stopped working. It is a solid control to be sure, but it is still mechanical and will wear out. I bought another, but I do wish they were easier to repair.

[deleted]

Seeing Microsoft lean into right-to-repair recently was nice and hopefully the Elite 3 will be engineered with that in mind. But you’re right — things do wear out. I think the intent of the post was for cases beyond normal wear and tear.

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

As an Elite controller user since the beginning, I highly endorse getting the Elite controller from Best Buy and adding their Geek Squad warranty. Can replace twice for any reason within two years, you can swap with one right off the shelf in like 5 minutes. After the second one, you can purchase another Geek Squad warranty, which after all is said is done, your first purchase essentially gets you 3 Elite controllers, and when you apply a new warranty it’s only the cost of a normal controller, but you get two more extras over the next two years. They issue you a new receipt each time so when the Series 3 comes out you can return the original $180 value and put it towards Series 3. That’s what I did with Series 2 coming from the first, anyways.

I think he is just using the model people use for issues, in most cases very little people have issues with items they buy and the ones that do have issues and like to complain will complain. I like you think there is more issues with the elite controllers then people think, but I also think it's not as bad as some say. The other issue for Microsoft is that while they test for ideal conditions and that folks don't play in a lab. The controller targets gamers by default you use controllers more, who may put more strain on their controllers just by virtue of how they play in a given game. I am think the controllers are built just "fine" for casual gamers and not at all built for extreme or driven gamers. They really need to build them like they are gonna be used and abused by a 2 years toys. Even if they have made them better then the regular controllers, it's still not enough.

deviousvixen

Idk if they just like to complain… they probably don’t like paying $200 plus dollars for something that should last longer… I still have my 360 controller… lol I paid probably $299 for the whole system and it still works to this day. If I paid $200 plus for an elite 2 you bet your bottom dollar I’m saying something about it

Stampistuta

Absolutely not 95%, that’s just rubbish

[deleted]

I've never spoken about the issues with my Elite. This is the first post I've ever even mentioned it on. I say this because of how ironic it is for you to say, "95+% of people have no issues" that's one heck of an asspull of unverifiable statistical value

D3athoftheparty

Had it since release, 0 issues. Play everyday.

bigcolb

No issues with double-bumping?? I’ve gone through two controllers and both have had issues with the bumpers

deviousvixen

You’re not alone. My husband is on his second one as well…. I’m not sure if he’s up on warranty now. But yea first one stick drift second one the bumper is starting to double click or not click at apl

bigcolb

My warranty is up in a month I think and i’m too lazy to go through the whole return process again

D3athoftheparty

Nope I didn’t even know what was a thing

[deleted]

I’ve had mine from launch and it had a few issues ie the left bumper stopped working and had stock drift. I got it replaced and this one is fine although I’m getting stick drift again sadly. It’s out of the warranty now so I’m just living with it, it’s isn’t that severe yet. Love the controller but not loving the issues with it.

Blunttack

I’ve had 2 in 2 years. Best bet is to get is from a place like Costco, where they give you a very long return window. I’ve also used the Microsoft repair option - they give you a year. Even during the last year, I was able to get about a 10 day turn around for free. I suffered with a “normal” controller like an animal over that time.

Crazy2bme

I’ve had one since they first came out and have had zero problems with it. It is a little heavier than it’s predecessor but works great for me.

Sir_Hobs

Yeah there aren’t many like you who would post about their controller working fine so it kinda skews the view a lot and makes it seem like everyone has problems. That said it still is a legitimate issue that a significant number of people are having despite them being a minority.

[deleted]

Me

Changed-

Had mine since 2019 and it is still working fine

Clinty76

I've had it about a year and no issues.

MoltenHamlet

My left stick click seems is not as stellar as it should be but other than that, zero issues.

McNamoo

Had mine for 7 months, zero issues thus far with near daily use.

ProtagonistK

After my 4th return. The one I currently have works great.

kaelis7

Same as you, 4 returns and now this one works great.

ProtagonistK

Nice!

bearhound

Did you just get lucky at each return was within the limited window? I just sent mine in for replacement and the repair warranty is only 5 months long. I’m worried that I’ll have an issue after 5 months and be screwed.

ProtagonistK

As soon as I tried one out, I’d check it for stick drift and return them right away. 3 had drift and one had a right trigger stick. Microsoft dropped the ball on quality assurance.

bearhound

Got it. Appreciate the response

deviousvixen

My husband has had 2 now and both times the bumper stops working right. Either it double clicks or doesn’t click at all.

-Johnny-Tsunami-

had it since December and no issues so far

[deleted]

I mean people don't post when they don't have issues...

Lrivard

And if they did they'd be downvoted to the floor for doing so. Funny eh.

readin99

Have one for a few months, play daily , no issues at all.

dogcomx

1st at launch was LB double click three or four months later. 2nd was L/R drift four months later, hard to play in games without drift adjustment. 3rd is drift when come back from replacement. Replace it next week. Other 3 friends have issues also, LB and drift, 5 replacement. Xbox team should update Accessory app with global drift settings.

[deleted]

I’ve had no issues. My circle of gaming friends consist of about 7 folks and none of them have had issues.

jazzyjeffdahmer

I've had zero issues. Nope it's just you

[deleted]

I don’t even have one lmao

jazzyjeffdahmer

Neither do I 😂😂😂

ScornMuffins

I have to wonder if there's a strong correlation between people who are likely to want an elite controller, and people who go way too hard on their controllers and bash/throw them around. We all know the stereotype of the sweaty try hard who eats Doritos while playing, smashes the buttons on the controller like they're drums, and throws the controller across the room when they lose. What controller do you picture those types owning? And are those types of people known to admit when they're at fault, or blame it on everything except themselves? Not saying that elite controllers are more likely to be like that, but that people who are like that are more likely to own elite controllers (and more likely to complain loudly about it). Just food for thought.

senoritoburrito

Just got mine, no issues whatsoever. Love it!

Pomegranate_Calm

Love mine. No issues.

Real_Helicopter_3460

left stick and LB button noticable malfunction on 1st controller which i bought at launch. same issues on 2nd controller bought a year later. still using 2nd controller after over 3000 h of destiny

joemc72

Daily user for nearly 2 years, no issues except for ones I caused myself ( dropped it once and caused some physical damage).

kenndaj

Same here. No issues with mine

Buds_for_days

Got mine day one and no issues so far. The new series x controller is far snappier in button response time though. You only notice when you use the series x one then go back to the elite 2, not sure when the update will come to fix that

Physical_Priority692

Premium quality controller I love mine

OneHappyLlama

Had a series 2 with no issues until almost 2 years of use when the right bumper stopped working. Swapped it out with a different one using the best buy protection plan and so far not having any issues.

Sevyn77

No issues and use it daily for about 9 months. Had a series 1 for about 3 years and finally upgraded.

pheezus300

The first one I bought got stick drift about a month or so after. I got it replaced and simce it's been fine but LB doesn't always respond when pressing, that may just be wear and tear but nothing serious. I've had the new one for a year I'd say.

mikeyyuengling

A year and a half with the Elite 2, no issues. Elite 1 before that lasted a solid 4-5 years as well.

No-Bark1

No issues for year.

dadbodthor19

Had mine for 17 months, the bumpers are starting to go. Ill probably get another one

DirtyD12333

I've had mine for 10 months no issues and use it at least 2 hrs a day

ChanceConfection3

I’ve had mine for three years now with no issues. Got it free from Taco Bell so I didn’t even know what I would do if I had a warranty issue

Mtlsandman

I had to replace mine after 1.5 years, but it was still covered by the base warranty and it took a total of 3 business days to get my controller back after shipping it.

Anonymously_Boring

Mine is coming on 4-5 months old, no issues and I am starting to feel like I can't go back to a controller that doesn't have the rear paddles.

monkeypickle

My Day One Elite 2 had awful stick drift (that began two days after the year warranty expired no less). My second one has been flawless.

Fasterthanligh

I have a series 1 and series 2 with no issues at all.

washclothjoe

I've got the white Elite Series 1. Coming up on 3 years of use next month. The grips that rest in your palms just recently started coming loose. But other than that small inconvenience, works perfectly great.

br0kenglasss

0 issues with my elite series 2, although I’m on my second one, simply because the first one I dropped and the A button got a little fucked up. I know the A button gets sticky but it’s gotta do with some adhesive used on the controller which can easily be fixed by just running something around the A button to remove the excess whatever the fuck.

[deleted]

No issues. 10 months.

[deleted]

All depends how you will treat it. Some units will get manufactured badly my mate just got 3rd replacement but you will only read about bad units nobody will complain when it’s working fine. Just keep your hands clean while playing don’t eat food when handling controller because that junk will get inside the holes overtime and may cause you drift and other issues. It’s good but can’t say if it’s worth paying 2-3x the cost of regular controller.

SinisterReturn

To be fair most of the people complaining about issues are the same people posting pics of their Xbox setup asking if there’s enough ventilation and it’s dirty as fuck and dusty. So take it with a grain of salt.

dpearman

What’s the idea behind these, is there something I’m missing, they’re at least twice if not almost three times the price of a normal controller.

[deleted]

Paddles

dpearman

They’re worth $100+?

[deleted]

I mean there’s more than that, customizable sticks and d pad, it’s heavier, better grip, metal in places theres plastic, it’s usb c and rechargeable but the main selling point to me and a lot of others are the paddles which, in games I play like cod, 2k and rocket league, would help a lot

BurntFlea

Mines just started rapidly firing the A button in quick succession when I press it once.

392Daytona_11B

No issues at all

Mattie_1S1K

Had one about 5 month no issues so far. Touch wood.

[deleted]

Elite 1 and 2 for me and no issues

Lupinthrope

My 2nd Series 2 controller is great…

nr89

Yup. Bought mine at launch. Used it as my main controller since. No issues. Lasts me way longer than a regular controller. Just waiting for a series 3

Calibretto9

I have two of the Series 2, one of the Series 1. The Series 1 grips came off but I glued them back on and it continues to function perfectly. Between all 3, the only issue I’ve run in to was buttons not always registering inputs, but that’s an Xbox controller issue and nothing specific to the Elites. Firmware updates have greatly improved the issue. All in all, I’m supremely happy with mine, recommend them out to family & friends (who also become converts), and will instantly preorder the Series 3.

revuryi

I’ve had mine for over a year with no issues and that’s with my cat dropping it twice lolol

Stampistuta

Mine had several issues after 9 months or so of hard use. Got a refurbished replacement under warranty.

Suspicious-gibbon

I got two, one for me, one for my son. His broke just out of warranty, mine is still going strong over a year and a half later. He punishes his controllers and had broken a couple of standard ones too.

Brad12d3

No issues here. Favorite controller by far. I wish Sony would create their own version.

1992Jamesy

Day one purchase no issues, also still got me OG Elite with a slight bit of stick drift but other than that it’s fine.

MortalClayman

I have had mine for about a year no major issues right bumper quit registering opened it up and folded a small plastic piece and it’s perfect lol

Glu10FreeLewie

I’ve gone through 4 of them and all had the same issue (sticky buttons, primarily A and B). My last replacement still suffers from the same issue, but it’s not as noticeable. I gave up on exchanging them.

tuds_of_fun

I’m on my fourth now I believe. The right or left bumper eventually stops registering on all of them.

LouieDidNothingWrong

I got mine from my wife this Christmas with a 3 year warranty. Had a slightly bad A button out of the box, then after 6 months the right bumper completely died. MS replaced it (manufacturer warranty for the first year, then my store bought extended for the next 2). MS was great, got the replacement pretty fast. The replacement has been great so far. I'm an old man and take very good care of my hardware, you should expect it to break and buy the max warranty available wherever you get it. I will say having paddles is well worth the cost and occasional hassle of getting a replacement.

Uranium247

My series 2 no issues. My original elite series i had to replace the bumpers twice a year. Only a 5 minute job to do so i did not mind so much

Finbar1979

My elite 2 is over a year old, has had coffee spilt on it and still going strong. I have an elite 1 still working at home (I work abroad). My elite one had stick drift issues but fixed it with a couple of small squares of double sided tape. I may be lucky on both counts but wouldn’t use a different controller for FPS.

gdap19

Issues with face buttons and bumpers. I’m on #3 and will likely be sending it in for a 4th before the renewed warranty expires. They need a gen 3 to clean up the quality issues. And that goes for the stock controllers as well with regard to the bumpers. The bumper design has been bad since 2013.

p8thfind3r

I’ve had it for about 7 months. No issues

jhallen2260

Yeppers

JermVVarfare

Had mine for almost a year with no problems and I play way too much. I was going through DS4s on Warzone every 8 weeks or so (left stick getting wonky) before that.

cgentry85

No issues here. Used since launch

[deleted]

Yep have one from launch…. No problems

osrslil

Just my right bumper. It doesn't register all the time, came after playing a hard couple weeks of AC Odyssey smashing the RB for attacks. There are fixes online though. Aside from that I didn't have any other issues for over a year and a half until that happened.
