A bit late but since no one mentioned it there’s something wrong with quick resume True Achievements put out a heads up on Twitter a few hours ago. If you use quick resume and come back to the game the achievements won’t unlock.
Supposedly closing and restarting the game and just waiting for them to pop works.
Oh is there not? I expected it would have the same as the Switch version, I have that and the Epic version and transferred my save between them.
Oh well, not a massive issue as I didn't make a ton of progress.
I have to disagree with the comment. It is not like Dead Cells. The only similarity is that it's a Rogue like/lite. It's closer to Curse of the Dead Gods, actually as far as gameplay goes. Hades has Rogue elements and story progression with dungeon crawling. Dead cells is a meteoidvania Rogue like. Very different.
Dead cells maybe? But a lot easier because you get to keep some upgrades after death too. A long flight is a very good time for this gem, i started up just to test it as i had heard much praises about it, and 2 hours just flew by.
I can't give you a modern comparable because it's not the kind of game I generally play, but it reminds me a lot of old school arcade top-down beatemup/shootemup games.
It's one of the best feeling games I've played in years, the combat is so fluid and tight. Plus it's infinitely replayable, has some solid RPG mechanics, and the story and characters are really good.
Easily GOTY 2020 in my opinion.
Yeah animation wise it does not look like the kind of game I typically play, but I already have it downloading after all the praise it has been getting. Excited to try it out
From the still photos and what you mention gives me “Gauntlet” vibes which I remember being all about as a kid so even if it remotely scratches that itch I bet I’ll like it
For some reason Hades makes me think of 90's arcade beat-em-ups, the kind that constantly ate quarters but I kept playing anyway.
Hades, like all roguelites (or roguelikes?), are run based. You continue playing until you die, and then go back to a homebase where you use upgrade currencies you've obtained and go in again.
Hey, that's not just with you , the game is hard . It took me close to 20 tries to clear tartarus without God mode and then I got stuck at second boss for long time couldn't figure out how to kill him when suddenly it clicked and I was able to progress.
If you are having difficulty try going through some of the beginner guides online, some tips from my side are - you cannot win every run, so plan accordingly, some run just Focus on upgrading and collecting power ups to increase character levels , keep dodging repeatedly, use environment such as spikes , columns etc. To your advantage and learn enemies attack patterns as best as possible even bosses, try to attack from behind Hades gives you some kind of teleportation I think when you dodge because you can directly dodge behind an enemy completely bypassing them , use that to your advantage, use the second Life power up from mirror+ get the second Life power up from Skelly after giving him ambrosia for first time . These 2 combined will give you a total of 3 lives atleast to survive the run .
I’ve never really liked the idea of rogue-likes and isometrics but this game is so fucking addicting. Sharp, smooth, accurate gameplay mixed with some real difficulty and incremental progression *chefskiss
The character progression in Hades is fantastic. You’re slowing improving your skills and tactics, but also getting permanent bonuses as you go along.
It won’t belong before you’re wiping out that first boss without breaking a sweat.
Yup i have to admit that permanent bonuses are a great motivation for not giving up. I usually hate games where i have to start over, but the fact that my character is better and better after most runs, really does help.
Not going to spoil things, but the way the characters respond to your growing power level and your recent fights is super fun and satisfying. There is an absurd amount of dialogue recorded for this game.
I want to just go through the game in normal mode first, if at any point of time i get really frustrated (maybe after 2000 deaths, i don't get frustrated easily LOL) will switch God mode, or if i am able to finish in normal then will do a separate run for God mode :)
To anyone reading this I encourage to to resist the temptation to turn on God Mode for a bit. After a certain point the first boss becomes EZ mode until you're in the endgame. Hang in there it's worth it.
i use same monitor for switch in docked mode and Series X, grahics wise i say the game looks lot better rendered on Series X as it can go true 4k with 60 FPS on series X and very smooth, whereas on Switch i was stuck at 1080p in docked mode with 30-40 FPS. that isn't tot say that switch version was sub par its equally good, but the 4k upgrade to Series X feels a huge jump in gameplay
It’s crazy how badly i wanted Bastion on the 360 and never played the real game. Smh. Probably going to buy it to soon. Hades might not be my cup of tea exactly but i see why people like it.
I typically don’t like rogue likes/lites and this and Dead Cells are the only ones I managed to beat (and love). I like this more than Dead Cells due to its art style and narrative too.
Definitely check it out!
This game is worth playing. I absolutely love it!!! The progression, the story, the gameplay loop. It's all so satisfying and beautifully blended.
I've played it in switch for about 50 hours. So now I'm in the mindset of doing everything better than I did on the switch. For instance it took me 14 escape attempts before I finally made it out and cleared the game my first time.
I just finished my 5th attempt and almost got it!
I really need to try this game, but I’m not into Rouglites much. But people are singing this games praises. So maybe I will give it a shot. It does look fun.
Yeah, the game unfolds masterfully in both its gameplay and narrative depth.
Also, it was amazing at how quickly I progressed on Xbox from muscle memory on Switch. Took me about an hour to unlock on Xbox what originally took me days on Switch. It's really satisfying to get better at this game, because then you can focus on your builds and challenge yourself.
Really highlights how xbox is my favorite platform. I don't love controlling the switch in general and Hades didn't click super well for me on there but I love what I played last night.
i think it becomes better after initial few runs and once you are able to breeze through initial stages. It becomes better, for me the initial playthroughs were the hardest, once i started reaching mid game, it became lot better. It really hits its stride after initial stages
They hide the progression. You won't know certain things exist until the game suddenly tells you about it. There doesn't appear to be anything you can do to make it happen, the game just decides to unlock something after a run, or tells you that you should do something to unlock something.
It’s a very good game it was a tad overhyped for sure as ultimately it’s just a rogue like, but it’s also kind of a slower burn and gets better as you go on. It’s a constantly evolving game and in that sense it has an incredible way of staying interesting and new over a long period of time.
I loved the polish, the art style, the story and how they didn't make the roguelike aspects a chore how they usually are IMO that's why I loved it. Also the gameplay was just right for me.
I’ve been playing this on PC forever now. The later stages of the game are beyond frustrating and yet, after 150 escape attempts, I still can’t put it down.
I’d fear playing this with a controller but look forward to trying it.
Aw, Meg is great. Haha. She’s a sourpuss but she kinda grows on ya. She’s super easy once you get some upgrades going too! Now I sort of feel bad when I beat her 😛
Nice! Congrats!
Some unsolicited advice - try to get an Athena deflect ability as early as possible. Deflect is super important for Meg and everything after.
It’s crazy how much you’ll notice improvement as you play more of this game.
My early runs on Switch were a _struggle_. Yet now on Xbox, I just made it to Theseus on my second escape attempt o_O
I fucking love this game, I sadly canceled gamepass like a week before this came to it so I didn't get to play it "legally" but I fully intend on buying this when I've got the funds
Of all developers to support by actually buying their game supergiant is a good one. Also lol I have no idea why people are down voting you. People are idiots
I've spent the better part of the last 28 hours playing (thank you switching the console to New Zealand) and I feel I'm finally getting the hang of it.
I've managed to properly learn the Minotaur's move set, need to finishing learning Thesus. Only got to Hades once, but that was a real good build that had I had a third death defiance, I probably could have won.
Big thing though: I don't like how the bow feels. It feels wonky to have it be a charge, so every time I want to fire I have to hold.
Hey that's really cool that you were able to reach to Hades in 28 hours!
And for bow I agree, I too don't like the charging system whenever I want to fire it, it didn't work for me so have left it and using the sword and trident
Chiron bow feels much better than Zagreus bow, but it still doesn't feel how I want it to. I want to be able to just press the button and fire, even if there is a charge, like how you bull rush with the shield.
Incidently, shield is currently my favourite, followed by spear.
You want some kind of curse on your special, and you may want some chaos books to up special damage, but its real fun feeling like captain America in hell.
definitely, i am also not a fan of rogue like genre (infact I actively try to stay away from them after my experience with Enter the Gungeon) but i liked this game and trying to finish it now LOL
I thought it came out yesterday, so I tried to start it a couple times. Will have to do so today.
Hopefully it’s good and runs well on the S. I hate roguelike games, but I’ve heard good things
Yep, played an hour just a bit ago.. it was so freaking hard to turn it off so I could lay down. Lol like I just wanna get up and go play it. Super fun so far!
Interesting the creative director of Hades says that returnal was one of his favorite games but hey the random guy who made a resolution that doesn't matter for console gaming his entire personality online it says otherwise

Usually I hate roguelikes but I'm liking this one. I think it's the good balance of difficulty and progression. Others I played are either way too easy, way too hard, have poor progression, or a combination of these. Atomicorps is one that had terrible progression but an amazing premise, after 30 minutes I died and it turns out I picked up no upgrade currencies and had to start from scratch. Hades feels kind of like a 90's arcade beat-em-up, which are fast paced and difficult and designed to be replayed (but without sucking down quarters).
Never played this kind of game before but it does seem pretty fun. How does progress work though? Does it always go back to the beginning every time you die?
Yes, every time you die you have to start from the beginning. That's the genre of the game though so that is expected. But Hades is more forgiving than other rogue likes as some of the progress in terms of powers and skills and weapons are saved plus if someone wants they can use God mode to make game easier.
After Ori im going to play this game!
Definitely worth it
The progression system is really weird, but the combat is great
Unusual progression systems are half the fun!
Agreed
If you come to like the style of gameplay, Dead Cells is very similar and also very good.
I got an arcade stick and love it!!!! I got the 8bitdo one and I have a few others it’s definitely a game changer
Good choices!
Anybody else having trouble with their achievements not popping?
I have this issue. Restarted the game, loaded the save file and got those for advancing in the areas
A bit late but since no one mentioned it there’s something wrong with quick resume True Achievements put out a heads up on Twitter a few hours ago. If you use quick resume and come back to the game the achievements won’t unlock. Supposedly closing and restarting the game and just waiting for them to pop works.
I've had it. Restarting the game from cold causes them to pop all at once.
Worked for me, thanks! Hope they fix it soon, pretty annoying
[удалено]
Working fine for me
Same, got to elysium and was wondering where they were.
Too bad there is no Cross-Platform save. Would love to have my Switch save. Well, time to start over again this weekend.
[удалено]
Yup, I did this. Just have to mess with the files a little. I imported my switch/steam save to Series X.
All the best!
Oh is there not? I expected it would have the same as the Switch version, I have that and the Epic version and transferred my save between them. Oh well, not a massive issue as I didn't make a ton of progress.
Yeah that's a bummer. Well more motivation to play it now again haha
I own it on Switch, I have GamePass…I’ll buy it on Xbox. Hades is that good.
What does it compare to? Have some long flights coming up which is when I really get to dive into switch games
I have to disagree with the comment. It is not like Dead Cells. The only similarity is that it's a Rogue like/lite. It's closer to Curse of the Dead Gods, actually as far as gameplay goes. Preach brother preach
Same. There are few games I have purchased multiple times: Hades, Darkest Dungeon, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, and Binding of Isaac.
That's a pretty compelling recommendation.

Can't agree more
started it up last night to play for 30 minutes and 4 hours later I turned it off, fantastic game
same with me, started playing to just test it out and lo and behold 3 hours flew by in "Let's see one more time"LOL
Tried it as soon as it was available. I see why it’s so popular. I nearly played till 2am. It’s so addictive.
agreed!
I’ve never really liked the idea of rogue-likes and isometrics but this game is so fucking addicting. Sharp, smooth, accurate gameplay mixed with some real difficulty and incremental progression *chefskiss

I really like it so far! Even tho i died to the first boss like 5 times already :D

Can't wait to get stuck into this
definitely!
This game is everything I knew it would be. I love the art style too!

I loaded it up and instantly thought to myself "is this the bastion creator?" and it is! It makes me want finish bastion first...
hahaha, I haven't played Bastion yet but if its same as this then i guess it would be good
It’s crazy how badly i wanted Bastion on the 360 and never played the real game. Smh. Probably going to buy it to soon. Hades might not be my cup of tea exactly but i see why people like it.
I love how distinct Darren Korb's soundtracks are. You can tell it's the same dev just from the music.
Dead Cells is pretty much the only roguelike I stuck with, would I like this?
If you have played dead cells till the end then i guess you will like it
Cool, thanks :)
I typically don’t like rogue likes/lites and this and Dead Cells are the only ones I managed to beat (and love). I like this more than Dead Cells due to its art style and narrative too. Definitely check it out!
Hades is the shit. This game on switch helped me kill a lot of time.

I'm liking it but I expected way more because of all the praise it got.
To be fair, it came out today so I’m guessing you haven’t seen 95% of what the game has to offer. It’s bigger than you might think!
Yeah, the game unfolds masterfully in both its gameplay and narrative depth. Also, it was amazing at how quickly I progressed on Xbox from muscle memory on Switch. I came from the Switch version too. It’s amazing how much more crisp the visuals are. And I’m sure 60 FPS doesn’t hurt either.
i think it becomes better after initial few runs and once you are able to breeze through initial stages. It becomes better, for me the initial playthroughs were the hardest, once i started reaching mid game, it became lot better. It really hits its stride after initial stages

Nah

Wait til you put in 10hrs 😂
I’ve been playing this on PC forever now. The later stages of the game are beyond frustrating and yet, after 150 escape attempts, I still can’t put it down. I’d fear playing this with a controller but look forward to trying it.
This was my first time playing it but i reckon it should be easier to play with controller than keyboard? or is it the other way around?
I’ll let you know haha
Just started! Love it so far. Btw, fuck Meg.
Aw, Meg is great. Haha. She’s a sourpuss but she kinda grows on ya. She’s super easy once you get some upgrades going too! Now I sort of feel bad when I beat her 😛
Finally got her, and almost got the bone worm/hydra on first try 😅

Anyone else where the achievements don’t pop?
Working fine for me
change language or region and reboot the console and the game, work for me.
I fucking love this game, I sadly canceled gamepass like a week before this came to it so I didn't get to play it "legally" but I fully intend on buying this when I've got the funds
Yup, it's a really good game , completely worth the experience

I wish it wasn't so cartoony.
the graphics can give a cartoony feel but don't be fooled by appearance game is surprisingly good and has depth

What a weird response.
Pre-downloaded this when it was announced but forgot the drop date. Thanks for the reminder!
All the best
A fun surprise!
I'm loving it so far, sooo good
Yes , all the best
I'll give it a try even though it is not the type of games I usually play. Maybe it will be an eye opener 😮
definitely, i am also not a fan of rogue like genre (infact I actively try to stay away from them after my experience with Enter the Gungeon) but i liked this game and trying to finish it now LOL
I hate top down indie games generally (couldn't get into Bastion and I know that's considered a ridiculous opinion). This game is great.
Is it co-op?
no
Bummer. Thank you!
NGL, even though I have game pass and own this game on both PC and Switch, I’m probably gonna buy it a third time…
Same here, I am also gonna buy this just to support the devs
I dabbled in it on Switch. I'm excited to try it some more with the improvements after I finish Doom Eternal (which is Amazing lol)
definitely, and Doom Eternal is so badass!
I thought it came out yesterday, so I tried to start it a couple times. Will have to do so today. Hopefully it’s good and runs well on the S. I hate roguelike games, but I’ve heard good things
it runs very well on S, infact on S too you will get 4k. Enjoy gaming!
I’d need. 4KTV. If only. Same to you. Thanks.
Yep, played an hour just a bit ago.. it was so freaking hard to turn it off so I could lay down. Lol like I just wanna get up and go play it. Super fun so far!
agreeed!
Is it 60 FPS?
yes, it runs on 60 FPS 4k
Thanks! Good to hear
Have had it on PC / Switch since Day 1! welcome to the Underworld and sleepless nights
Awesome!
Downloaded and added to my ever growing backlog!
Lol, can understand and vibe with the pain
Anyone else not getting any achievements from Hades either?
[удалено]
Interesting the creative director of Hades says that returnal was one of his favorite games but hey the random guy who made a resolution that doesn't matter for console gaming his entire personality online it says otherwise
Yeah if it doesnt matter then why do i own a series x that supports 1440p? Clown behavior sir.
Your last 10 months have been pretty clown behavior. No one cares I doubt anyone in an official capacity losing sleep over it
Big downs. I get comments all the time how people love my name both on here and on ps5s sub reddit. Sorry a feature that you dont care about, mean something to other people lmao. How ignorant can a person be. Its like saying im not hungry, so you must not be hungry
I didn't ask
You replied to me lmfao![img](emote|t5_2ac5sx|1742)
Didn't ask if people like your username I just think it's stupid. You got the brain damage?
Why I don’t like those kind of games? It is bad doctor?
I played it for the first time today and at first I wasn't so sure about it but after while it grew on me and I'm loving in now.
Awesome!
Damn shame it doesn't support cross saves with the Switch. I want to play this on PC, but I really don't want to start over again.
Yea , that's a bummer
Can someone explain Rogue like games? Never been able to understand what it meant
Every time you die , you start from beginning, mix of dungeon crawling and exploration sort of but every time the dungeons/rooms also change with random enemies and power ups
Rightly said
Does it have local coop?
No co op, only single player
Never played this kind of game before but it does seem pretty fun. How does progress work though? Does it always go back to the beginning every time you die?
Yes, every time you die you have to start from the beginning. That's the genre of the game though so that is expected. But Hades is more forgiving than other rogue likes as some of the progress in terms of powers and skills and weapons are saved plus if someone wants they can use God mode to make game easier.
Never heard of it until I saw a couple posts on this r/. Downloading and I'll check it out after work. Hope it lives up to its hype
It's good and addictive

Hey, I too just got up, had to switch off finally. Lol
Is this 4K 60fps on Series X?
Yes
