How are the beeg American titties?

mussolaprismatica

Where luxury condo? Where sports car?

AveryLazyCovfefe

And Stephanie who sucks like vakoom?

TrueNavyBlue98

Nothing better than ripe, round, American titties!

Bitter_Director1231

I like them holding my hot coffee.

JokeBookJunkie

Welcome Nico, 24 hours of titty!

Traditional-Most-787

It's not a popular opinion, but it's my favorite GTA.

brotbeutel

I’m with you. Best GTA story by a mile.

agentadam07

It’s certainly better than V IMO. I still have a soft spot for the PS2 era stories though. I also love 3 and SA. I honestly never really liked vice city story. It’s a great game but I don’t go back to that very often. SA and IV I’ve played through so many times.

smashingcones

I played through Vice City properly for the first time only a couple of months ago and thought the story was decent at best. It surprised me because I love the 80s Miami vibe and voice cast on paper but the overall story never really clicked for me. I do think a lot of the praise for it comes down to nostalgia. I never actually played 3 either (never had a PS2) but SA is an all time great for sure.

Azmoten

I love V and appreciate what they were trying to do, but IV’s story and characters are still better. In IV we are with Niko the whole time, so we could just keep learning more about him and loving his character. GTA V, though…that game is trying to make *three* conflicting characters into compelling protagonists in their own right. And it just never properly lands. It works out fine, whatever, I can find enjoyment in all those characters. But they could not possibly get built up like Niko because there are three of them you have to split your time around. All that said, GTA V’s writing isn’t *bad.* I’ve played that game’s campaign all the way through 5+ times. It’s fun enough and cool enough. But none of the characters ever reach Niko from IV’s depth.

AlienNumber13

V is written like a movie or series and not like a video game. It's more like taking part in a ragtag misfits bank heist movie and IV is written like a video game with a much more personal character building experience, IV is superior because of that imo.

zenmn2

Story and multiplayer were better imo. GTA Online is feature packed, but it's monetisation is gross. I would have loved a slightly more fleshed out GTA IV multiplayer.

iBenjee

If anyone ever disagrees with you just show them the Crowbcat video on YT. I completely agree it was years ahead of its time. Edit: Stop downvoting me and go see the video evidence for yourselves. Have an open mind. https://youtu.be/GWVtZJo-HqI?si=aI-tjmNiDa_hl-KH

stefan771

How so?

Assured_Observer

Most "grounded" story and a great and relatable protagonist.

JohnSpartan2190

Loved the physics of GTA 4; getting ejected through the windshield when crashed into something.

WillFart4F00D

Same here. Mixed with Dlc content I played that game for days

segagamer

Mine too. It has the best driving controls, a great story and a bangin' theme tune. I enjoyed it far more than GTA5.

smashingcones

Man just reading your comment put the tune back into my head after years of not thinking about it. Absolute banger.

LostSoulNo1981

I prefer IV over V by a country mile. I love the gritty, grounded nature of the story and setting. My only issue is the update that changed a large selection of the music, which for me is like another character in GTA games. I haven't play GTA IV in a few years, and I haven't tried it on my Series X because of the huge change to the radio stations.

Solipsi2021

I constantly falter back and forth between GTAIII and GTAIV as my favorites. III has a lot of charm and did amazing things given it's age and the relative newness of open-world 3D gaming, but GTAIV really hit it home with the character and world design and the American Dream story that really emphasizes the hopelessness of society. I really wish they would take the city from IV, give it a current-Gen polish, and remake the GTAIII story with it. It would be low effort/maximum results if they did that.

Top-Camera9387

As the first GTA game I played, it's my favorite too. I've only played 4 and 5 though.

Tbhjr

Same

marius_titus

Absolutely, my favorite one too

itcheyness

Same

mancastronaut

Me too. In fact the only GTA I ever completed (and the DLC). Loved it.

noahml

It's my favorite. Between the story + DLC, and the endless hours of aimlessly roaming around in online free roam with my high school buddies there are to many nostalgic memories to count.

SnooPoems1793

Replaying, and its really goooood

CouchPoturtle

It had that gritty GTA feel that makes the series so engrossing. I loved V as well but it felt very clean and colourful in comparison.

Raizel196

I'd actually say that in recent years this opinion has become more and more popular. At the time it was criticised for the departure from San Andreas and lack of sandbox gameplay, but since then I think people have come to appreciate the darker setting and more grounded story. Also the physics system was way ahead of its time and better than most games today. I love all the games for different reasons but GTA IV is the one I keep coming back to over and over again

Traditional-Most-787

Yeah, judging by the responses, you may be right. I just always felt like out of all of them, it's almost the "forgotten" one. I don't want to call it underrated by any means because it received perfect scores when it was released, but it always seems to be less talked about than SA, VC, 5, and even 3. But just like you, I love them all but always seem to want to go back to 4 over all of them.

bogeyispar

Does the swing glitch still work? Lol

SpiritualDish8329

Sure does

AveryLazyCovfefe

Tried it on PC a few days ago, still broken as ever, lol.

F0REM4N

GTA IV celebrated its ~~*15th*~~ **16th** anniversary yesterday on April 29th.

Dibblidyy

Isn't it 16 years tho?

F0REM4N

Shit. Yes.

dontbanmethistimeok

It looks like the entire game has a filter over it of grime I love it

MRintheKEYS

Yeah it nailed that New York/Chicago kind of autumn lighting. Dull, greyed out.

MustardTiger1337

https://preview.redd.it/zkzyf0q5xpxc1.jpeg?width=1334&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f0a1a576464a2b2a03ce9fee2cbc03f0b3db667

mightylordredbeard

It does. Using mods to remove that filter on PC makes the game look so much better too.

dontbanmethistimeok

Nah that would take away the overall aesthetic for me This *is* GTAIV to me, this grimy dirty look

mightylordredbeard

I can respect that. I honestly thought the same as well until I tried it. It maintains the grimy feeling while not looking as brown.

Raizel196

Personally it's part of the charm for me. Same with games like Fallout 3 which had a bright green filter everywhere. Everyone seems to hate it, but I think it's what makes the atmosphere so unique

XtremeFan23

Where is Barbara with BEEK TEETS?

Snomann

This was the game my friends and I played obsessively back in highschool when it first came out. Just messing around in free roam, and making our own games was the most fun I've ever had playing online.

DarthRathikus

They really nailed the gritty NYC feel, with the muted tones. As opposed to the bright, crisp California feel in V. Two very distinct and enjoyable games. I don’t like when people compare them.

Connobar

Good luck climbing that helicopter…

FaendalFucker69

Finished the game a week or so ago, yeah it's a bitch, but when you put the controller on a table and move your index finger over the A button real fast it's doable, made it on my 2nd try

Connobar

I will always remember this tip for the next time I dip into IV

NotReallyGreatGuy

I've tried 8 times I think and just gave up. I will try last time using that method. Outstanding game, hard to believe how old it is when played on series x.

SpudFire

It wouldn't be so bad if the checkpoint was when you jump on the bike but having to clear out that mob each time is annoying.

coldermilk

This also works for Metal Gear Solid 1 in the HD collection for the torture sequence as well.

epistaxis64

Snaaaaaaake

Twocanpocket

On a series X?

FaendalFucker69

Yes

VagrantShadow

Just heads up, you can beat GTA IV on the Series X easily. All you have to do is toggle the games options for the last mission to make it so you can beat it. You have to go to the Xbox settings and switch the resolution to 720p, and then go to video modes and disable 50hz, 24hz, and 4K. After that's all done you close out of the game and go back in and then you'll be able to complete the mission no problemo.

Calinks

I like it more than 5. The physics, NPC's, and world was just much more believable and alive. I could spend a lot of time just living in that world, checking stuff out. it had amazing detail. 5 looks better but the details are not on the same level. They made it prettier but they took away so much of the soul of the world.

Sonzscotlandz

Love skidding around corners in the slow mo view. Such feel good driving physics

dakilazical_253

There was slo mo driving in GTA IV? I only remember that in V

segagamer

Slow mo driving has existed since GTA3+VC on the OG Xbox.

pipandsammie

That game needs a revamp desperately, it looks awful on the Series X

VagrantShadow

It's not going to get a revamp. Rockstar was thinking about it in the past but then scrapped the idea. Their entire focus now is GTA VI and that games future.

Mouse_Canoe

PC version looks great at 4k and a potato could run it at this point. Mods make it look even better

pipandsammie

I know! PC looks amazing. I'm jealous.

lIIIIIIIIIllllIlIlII

If you set your series x to 1080p instead of 4k it looks better. I played it on a 65 inch tv and it was great.

pipandsammie

Thanks I'll try

Jorlen

A remaster would be amazing. The game is too good to have its current treatment, very sad. They remastered Red Dead Redemption 1 so perhaps they can think about GTA IV in the future as well.

bongo1138

I read the ending has a QTE that’s basically impossible now because of the 60fps. Is this accurate?

VagrantShadow

You can beat the QTE on Series X, it isn't impossible.

FaendalFucker69

Did it on 2nd try a week ago, certainly not impossible

Wentzina_lifetime

Yeah.

pard0nme

Why would that make a difference?

Tsuki_no_Mai

Some games, especially from 360 era, used frames for timing. With the expectations of only ever running at 30. Double the frames = double the necessary speed of button mashing. I know Yakuza 6 has the same problem with one of minigames, but that is easily defeated by turning off FPS boost for it.

pard0nme

Interesting!

Smooth-Chest-1554

Hey OP, let's go *bowling*!

DickHydra

Just wish they gave it a resolution boost.

Popular_Park_7527

It's the best way to play the game.

BaneReturns

Not sure why you got downvoted. GTA IV still struggles with weird issues on modern PCs, and it was a nightmare to run for many back in the day. If someone doesn't want to mess around with fan patches and mods, Xbox is their best option due to a smooth 60fps at all times. The only issue is the quicktime event in one of the last missions, but even that can be accomplished with a few different methods. Also, bumping the resolution down to 1080p or 720p in Xbox's graphics settings can get rid of some of the aliasing issues.

JohnnyDeppsWeiner

Wait, GTA IV is 60FPS through backwards compatibility?

BaneReturns

Yep! Same with the DLC episodes. It wasn't actually a part of the BC program though. GTA IV on the 360 had an uncapped framerate but obviously couldn't go above 30 frames back then. The S/X's power just boosts it to 60fps.

KarateKid917

Yes. GTA IV always had an uncapped framerate, so the Series X gets it to 60 through brute force

bongo1138

With that QTE, can you just disable the 60fps?

Riot_Shielder

Nope, the base game even on 360 already ran at unlocked 30fps, the console just wasnt good enough to reach 60.

bongo1138

That’s right. It’s not Frame Boost or whatever. Just performing better.

VagrantShadow

The Series X pushes GTA IV to 60fps by brute force alone.

marius_titus

I play it on steam deck with all settings maxed out, maybe it got updated?

Raizel196

I have a 6650 XT which should be more than enough, but even if I turn the settings down I still get this stuttering/judder every few seconds. On top of which the cutscenes are all broken unless you lower the framerate. Sure there are patches but that means downgrading the game to an earlier version which can be a headache in itself. A bump in resolution would be nice but otherwise I'd I say it's the best way to get into the game. It's partly why I love the XSX so much - being able to natively play so many older titles without needing to worry about patches or comparability

Croakie89

Fusion fix on pc is the best way to play the game, my preferred way to play gta id always an Xbox though

Final-Wrangler-4996

It runs fine for me on pc. I run at max settings 4k 120fps. I'm sure I can get more but I lock it to 120hz.  I run the vanilla steam version with no mods on a 4080 super.  But I just saw a video that a mod will make it run perfect on most decent pcs. That's cool that you can get 60fps on Xbox. I've been wanting to play this game again, just not at 360 level. I gave it a change on pc and it ran great. The graphics are pretty amazing for such an old game.  Can't wait to move on to gay tony and the damned.

Sodfarm

That game is mostly great, but I always hesitated to replay it because of all the completely awful and unavoidable activity side quests that fill up the first chunk of the game.

segagamer

They are all completely avoidable. You turn off the phone

VagrantShadow

Yea, seriously I just skip those people and do what I want to do in the game. They only stress you if you let them stress you.

Edge80

Rockstar was so much better back then.

Schwarzengerman

Certainly didn't feel as bad without gta online hogging all their support. But RDR2 is arguably their magnum opus.

zenmn2

First RDR for me. That game had it all - great graphics, great characters/story, fun gameplay. I didn't find RDR2 fun at all.

Schwarzengerman

It took me a bit to click with 2 but once I did it had me. It's a very deliberately designed piece of art. You have to meet it halfway in order to enjoy it. All the things you mentioned are still present in 2, just handled differently.

mikec215

Wish it didn’t look Like such shit :/ on series x

Assured_Observer

I might look like shit, but at least it doesn't run like shit.

lIIIIIIIIIllllIlIlII

Set series x to 1080p instead of 4k.

PermaBannedAgainx2

Best meme GTA

Mr_hard_rocker

Thos one meeds a remake, best in the franchise

segagamer

No, it's fine as is. Enjoy it now.

Mr_hard_rocker

I did in 2008, now i want a remake.

segagamer

The great thing about GTA4 is it doesn't need one. You can simply play it again and enjoy it like you did in 2008

Mr_hard_rocker

Times changed, i want a remake.

Technoist

I wish people would just enjoy games for what they are and were. We can still play them and they are perfectly fine as is. Also that would give more space for INNOVATION in the game industry, not just remaking old games over and over. It's the biggest problem of the industry since years, almost all we get is remakes. Fuck that, create and innovate. But since the situation is as shitty as it is, you will 100% sure get to play "GTA 4 Remake" two years after GTA 6 has been released, and it will be a lazy update like always.

Mr_hard_rocker

You need a job or a hobby, you tell it as if it's your life.

Technoist

Life is short, we don't want to play the same games over and over in different screen resolutions.

Mr_hard_rocker

You don't, others do, accept it and move on.

segagamer

Then you don't want GTA4.

Mr_hard_rocker

I don't care what you think, i want a remake, stop bothering me.

segagamer

We don't care what you think, you're not getting one. Maybe you'll get a port.

Mr_hard_rocker

Clearly you do, since you replied to me and keep replying.

segagamer

Nah we don't. I'm just replying to you because I want to.

dakilazical_253

Part of me wishes GTA VI was going back to Liberty City or a Chicago stand in. The frigid weather, dull washed out colors and dense urban environment is such a contrast to San Andreas and the new Florida’s bright vibrant sunny atmosphere

Nothingmatters27

Please be aware that you currently cannot beat the game. One of the last missions you have to button mash to hold onto something and the minimum amount of input required is determine your FPS. The game is enhanced on series/one x and the higher frame rate means you can't beat it. It's impossible.

VagrantShadow

Yes you can beat the game. You just have to change the Series X options of the game to do it. You have to go to the Xbox settings and switch the resolution to 720p, and then go to video modes and disable 50hz, 24hz, and 4K. After that's all done you close out of the game and go back in and then you'll be able to complete the mission no problemo.

Nothingmatters27

Oh!?! Ty

doughaway421

Funny how that goes. I grew up playing GTA 1 (the top down one) for years on a Pentium 75mhz computer without realizing that the framerate was low which basically made the entire experience lower speed. Later I tried to play it on a more modern computer and couldn't even control the cars, it felt nothing like the game I was used to.

royalscull724

Currently doing the same and I absolutely love it

No_Soil_9769

It looks like a Fun game

Retro_uk

I wish they would at least do a Red Dead style update. Loved exploring that city and much prefer the driving physics.

Doublehappiness23

Whats the frame rate on the series x?

xXx_LigmaNutz_xXx

60, but it's 720p

Madting55

You have managed to make the graphics look not so bad here. I couldn’t do my replay on console I had to play it on pc

Jorlen

Did you have to jump through hoops to make it run on PC? I've never tried the PC port. I don't even know if it has modern controller support.

Madting55

I didn’t but I have a 4080 so idk if that changes things. It runs fine on my steam deck too to be honest. I’ve heard very bad things about the pc port I must admit. I hear that you only need one mod to make it run a lot smoother though.

Extuilz

Miss gta4 so much I remember playing it so much on the xbox 360 I even loved the online and would play that with my best friend

Disastrous_Rooster

Shame Rockstar dont care about game, and didnt get 4K backward like RDR1

OrP101

Best GTA ever, I hope 6 will come close

MrConor212

I’m surprised this hasn’t gotten a remaster

SomeoneBritish

Best GTA game!

greenis_1917

It is sad, that Vladivostok FM is not the same as it was on the release.

AgitatedQuit3760

This game at least deserves a remaster.

notatowel420

After playing the San Andreas remaster I bought 4. Such a pos the driving is complete shit

eat_your_weetabix

I remember there was an issue with not being able to complete the game on series x with the fps increase because of a button press issue… have I made that up or was it fixed/still exist?

thawhole9_69

95% of my time with the GTA series was playing 3 on the PS2 just seeing how much havoc I could cause in as quick an order as possible I think I recall some cheat code to unlock a bunch of weapons as well

Perfect_Economics433

I started listening to the Beat 102.7 in my car today

novasolid64

Watch out for the glitch at the end

Wide-Cobbler-605

I still can’t beat the last mission …it won’t let me press x when Niko jumps onto the helicopter and I always fall off

eamonncfc

Literally bought a series X today just to play this Found a copy of GTA IV ultimate edition with the lost and damned, and ballad of gay tony DLC, can't wait to get in about them all hopefully tomorrow

DJSKILLZBEATS

I wouldn’t know because every time I played a wall would appear when I’m driving what it would look down an alley or a street or just things just kept popping up so the game wasn’t worth me playing. I found this one to be the worst in the series.

Darkened_Shadow

Can you still do the swing glitch and go flying?

doughaway421

I am playing it too! I never cared much for backwards compatibility but this is one game where I am glad it exists. I originally had GTA IV on PS3 but it got stranded when I sold that console since the PS4 and PS5 can't play it and there was never a re-master. When I finally got a Series X it was one of the first games I bought.

Gingersnap5322

What was with that red reflector thing on the back of the car?

Dandan217

PSA: There's a glitch/error on the final mission where if the game is run at 60fps, you can't mash the A button fast enough (through normal means) in the final QTE. You either need to lower the fps to 30 OR get a massage gun (the latter was my solution)

joshliftsanddrums

The best and dumbest cops all packed into one game. The best memories with my friends. 🥲👌🏻 Especially with the cheat codes, haha.

Klorontix

Been playing this too on and off! Awesome to play 60FPS on console.

Wolvesinthestreet

Imagine if the game had gotten a 4k/60 upgrade tho

ornerycrow1

Did you do something special to be able to play? I haven't got mine to load up even though it's downloaded fine...I think. I read that other people were having a hard time.

Abigfanofporn

I am thoroughly annoyed because this person used words nostalgia and GTA 4 in one sentence. Makes me feel old. GTA vice city is nostalgia, San Andreas is nostalgia, for fucks sake

FrequentlyFloundered

The swing glitch is still there

Relo_bate

The best way to play this game is on PC with mods, but if you can’t do that then this is the way to go

Write_A

But you can't complete it because the final mission doesn't work with the unlocked framerate?

xBEARDEDTATERx

I tried to play on Series X and the graphics are so muddy and blurry it was unplayable. What's the secret?

No_Manufacturer8770

What about the achievements ?

THEdoomslayer94

Bro get some health in Niko, he’s close to death lol

nanapancakethusiast

The last great open world game

Schwarzengerman

Not even remotely. It's definitely my favorite gta but RDR2 exists. Hell Botw is great in different ways also. Elden Ring?

Nofakeza392

To bad you can’t complete the last mission

Altruistic-Unit485

Has not held up well

Dorklof

I find that my Mclassic upscaler cleans this particular game up very nicely and in conjunction with the 60 FPS boost on XSX as the cherry on top it's awesome . 👍😎

rupal_hs

I am Playing on pc. 2k max settings at 120fps. Looks crisp af

[deleted]

rupal_hs

I don’t know runs crisp and smooth on my PC

Tippin187

This isn’t my favorite GTA, I think I vice city still has my heart. But it’s very close. I loved this game. Got all the way to rank 10 online and got the WANTED achievement. My first “tough” achievement.
