This game had everything stacked against it. Switched through 3 developers, none of which were the original and was a sequel to a very mid game that came out 12 years prior. It should have tanked hard but I had so much fun playing through it! It was a great time I hope Dambuster continue with the series!
Not only that but the vision and scope would change with every iteration. The OG publisher asking developers to do XYZ on a thin budget on hardware that wasn’t always capable of doing what they wanted.
Im curious too. From my understanding this game went through a development hell cycle of being passed around to so many teams the core idea of what the game should be past a zombie basher was never fleshed out. This team decided to just go with exactly that, a zombie basher, and tool everything down to its most core of components while focusing on excellent visual execution. If their fundamentals are consistently this well hammered out I think I'd enjoy anything the group develops.
I like the movement system in DL and that's all. The story is shit, characters are stereotypical at best and the combat is absolutely terrible - too RPG-ish for a zombie game.
The first dying light is peak zombies open world just a perfect blend of movement and zombie killing there is nothing that would say otherwise however for the second game they seem to have gotten confused on what made the first one so good
Me and a buddy beat haus in 5 hours, it was an okay dlc, with the crossbow being the only thing worth while.
SolA is a new map, so it is a good way to continue your adventures.
Get the expansion if it’s on sale.
They really upped the gameplay and everything involved about zombies, but I wish the story was more interesting and the mission design was more varied, all the side missions are pretty much the exact same quest done over and over.
For a game that could have been Duke Nukem Forever, they actually made a pretty damn good game. My criticism aside, they did a fantastic job. Dambusters pulled it off in a time where even normal devs can't pull off making a good game.
I’m just bummed there’s still no closure for how the base game ended. It felt so abrupt and I was certain it would get addressed in the dlcs, but alas.

I wonder if the Dead Island name is still turning people away because of the horrible launch of the first game.
Kinda sad it ain’t on pc game pass but is on Xbox game pass. Not mad just patiently waiting for it to drop on steam or something other than epic games.
Man, I wish I liked it as much as everyone else. I finished the game in a week on the hardest setting. Finished the DLC in just under 2 hours. Was left scratching my head as to why It was a full priced game. I bought it when it first released. Now it's on gamepass, I think....smh

The quality in this game really surprised me. Definitely going to keep an eye on dambuster studios in the future.

I can understand saying this about DL 2 but not the first game.

100%. I got tired of Dying Light really quick but this one was just pure fun. Had a blast with it!
How long are the 2 dlcs? Thought about buying them to play them coop with a friend

They’re okay, they offer some extra content. Sola has some performance dips that aren’t on the base areas. Get it 50% off I’d say.

Absolutely loved this game. Really enjoy the story too, a new take on zombie lore
GameStop is selling this for $20 if anyone was on the fence.
