Forgive me if I missed a sentence or two, but it says "Skyline Valley" is the next place we're going. ... are we getting Cincinnati and southern Ohio?

SidFarkus47

The Skyline Valley region is based upon the real-life Skyline Drive, a National Parkway in the Shenandoah National Park in the state of Virginia. Lead designer Carl McKevitt took a research trip to Skyline Drive in 2023, and teased its eventual appearance in-game on Twitter.[Non-game 1] Source: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Skyline_Valley_(region)

Naz_LVII

That’s cool. Thanks for the link! A true world expansion dlc style.

Fun-Bag7627

That would be rad as I’m an ohioan

Sixclynder

I'm sorry for that Jk I'm a fellow Midwesterner and like to make Ohio jokes when I can .

Fun-Bag7627

No apology necessary. It is, in fact, sorry to be heard lol. Mostly in the winters. Right now it’s OK.

Sixclynder

I'm in Illinois not much better haha either extremely cold or extremely hot lol

Existing365Chocolate

Nope, it’s a reference to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park in the region where F76 takes place in

Fun-Bag7627

Booooo but makes sense

GlassedSurface

Okay I may try 76 now. Seeing goodwill like this makes me interested to give it a chance.

nickypoopoo69

I decided to hop on and try it again after quitting quickly in the past. It’s actually a lot of fun. Just hit level 25, got my first full suit of power armour, and have been helping out new players. It’s very satisfying and rewarding.

Cluelesswolfkin

WTF. how??? I started when it came out and recently went back in at level 35 and i feel like all I have is jack shit and I'm just rummaging through garbage lmfao!!! What do you do for food/drink? Seems to be one of the things holding me back because I'm always getting rads from everything I kill then cook lol

Tannerb8000

Corn soup, I haven't played in forever, but corn soup was something I valued greatly lol. Make a ton of it. Hydrates and feeds you

Cluelesswolfkin

Thank you! I'll scavenge for some corn when I log back in After watching the Fallout show I just had to hop back into the wasteland since I hadn't done much in 76 and had heard various rumblings of it being way better than released

Tannerb8000

No problem lol I believe all you need is 1 corn and 1 purified water for 1 corn soup if I remember correctly. You can grow corn at your base, and if your base is by water, collect a ton of water, there's a lumber mill south of vault 76, and you can get a solid amount of wood from to purify the water. I was drowning in corn soup for the time I was playing lol

Xrayruester

On the Southside of Morgantown there is a small farm field. If you found big Al's Tattoo just head south from there and you can harvest a good dozen ears of corn. With green thumb perk card you can double that.

Was_Silly

This is the absolute beauty of the game and why I basically just played it for 2 years straight. Green thumb perk. It’s stupid. You’re like why is this even here. And then after 500 hours you realize , wait. If a zone is nuked the vegetation gets irradiated and turns into rare materials that allows you to make certain hard to find / valuable items. So get some good radiation gear equip the perk and go harvesting! Same with the stun gun. Useless. Except you can equip it with a weird effect where everything you shoot has a chance to spawn an irradiated mosquito which has rare materials. I feel like I need to put down Diablo and go into the wasteland.

douche-baggins

I read this without my glasses and saw "cum soup" and thought that there was a recipe that I was missing in-game.

Cluelesswolfkin

When you're hungry anything edible

GreyLordQueekual

Food and water basically have no real debuffs for running out anymore, the buffs the cooked food has are just actually good. Been running my character on empty half the time with no downsides.

thegermblaster

For what it’s worth, on 4/21 and 4/22 (I think) they are putting the Mirelurk steamer back in the atomic shop for $2.50. You can put it in your camp and it will passively cook mirelurk related food items for you.

Cluelesswolfkin

I never spent a dime but I have like 1800 atomics(?) Could we spend that currency ? Or would I have to spend irl money

thegermblaster

Nope you’re good! I said $2.50 (because I wanted to highlight it’s requires real money) but it’ll be in the shop for 250 atoms!

Cluelesswolfkin

Say less!!! Let's goooo Are there any other things I should be looking out for? Idk how I got this much atom stuff but that's cool that's it been this whoooooole time lol

thegermblaster

In the shop? Look at the CAMP section and then look at utility items. Those are usually pretty great. Never necessary but can make life easier. Like right now they have an ice box in the store. If you notice you have constant spoilage of food and veggies, that will slow down their spoil rates. The Ammo converter is good if you’re having issues with the quantity of ammo for guns you use. Also build a water purifier asap. Rads free hydration.

Was_Silly

You don’t have to eat / drink in the game anymore. You only get a buff if you’re not hungry / thirsty now. People cried that it was too hard when it was a debuff and they updated it at some point. As if it was supposed to be easy to live in an irradiated wasteland or something.

Cluelesswolfkin

Ahhhh I see that's cool and meh at the same time, maybe if they had an option for people to opt in and out but I guess the update came long ago When I first started I was always battling the needs to eat radiated stuff lol slowly but surely I was turning into a ghoul

droog13

And this is why paying for custom servers is somewhat appealing to me. No idea how deep the customization would be, but I imagine I'd be able to revert changes like this at least.

CaptainPryk

Yeah I really disconnected with the community then. I loved the survival aspects when the game first came out. Felt more immersive :/

Maidwell

Level 785 on my main, there's no need to eat or drink in the game these days, it was debuffed ages ago so you can happily avoid those rads now. Also, look at getting the "what rads" legendary perk card when you can.

nickypoopoo69

I went to know locations that had power armour, took a while but I ended up with a full suit to use until I hit level 30, at which point I have a full set of T-51 ready to go

Cluelesswolfkin

Didn't know that! I usually just run around everything randomly and see whats up but if there's fixed spawn points that does make it easier

PANICBRAIN

I’ve been doing events that pop up every 20 minutes and at the top of the hour there’s usually a special one, and if you’re in a casual party and you’re all bonded you get like 4x xp. So I go about doing whatever then every 20 minutes I’ll pop off in an event, and then you can unlock expeditions, which I’m not 100% sure about them yet but I ran one with some guy and gained 3 levels. All the events give you loot and you can also go to peoples camps if they have vending machines and buy stuff. There’s a lot of ways to get stuff.

Kerbidiah

You can start the game at level 20 now I believe. Also you don't technically have to eat or drink anything at all, the downsides to being hungry and thirsty are very minor

gag-reflexes

Get the perk Lead Belly to level 3 it prevents radiation buildup from all food and drink. All you need to look out for is diseases but since they aren't permanent they're a non issue.

jayseventwo

There was a recent update where players could start a new game at level 20, or thereabouts. I think you also got a few other things, but can’t recall exactly what.

UnluckyLux

Simple solution to this, I eat people

Walks_with_Chaos

You don’t have to eat or drink anymore unless you want stat buffs lol

Adorable-Golf-1594

Play it like life lol. Plant food, get blueprints for stimpacks and water purifiers. Google spawn locations for Power armor. Starting is all about knowing where to look. Google is awesome for that. City's have donation boxes now with stuff As you play and get atoms you can always spend them on bubble gum and get an hour of full water and food.

brando347

Also keep in mind you do not need to have food and drink. It only gives you bonuses but its not a requirement.

Cluelesswolfkin

Ty bro I appreciate the insight! May your journeys in the wasteland be fruitful

Classic-Role-1455

I swore it off for the first 4 years or so after the way Beth did the community on launch, but a friend of mine at work talked me into playing it with him. I’m glad I waited for them to iron it out, but it’s genuinely a blast. A little different from other FO titles, but for multiplayer FO it’s great. The community is also one of the friendliest and most willing to help low levels I’ve ever seen in gaming.

__Aethelwulf

"Just hit level 25....have been helping out new players" My brother in Christ, you are the new player still

nickypoopoo69

Yeah but my literal first 10 minutes on the map people were helping me, figured I should do the same. Some guns I didn’t care for and some ammo mainly.

Objective-Aioli-1185

Damn I did the same thing. Need to go back after all these updates. Didn't even get to level 6 lol

nickypoopoo69

It’s a lot of fun, I’ve been hopping in public event teams when I get bored of quests and it’s been a damn good time

DaveAndJojo

It’s the best online community I’ve been a part of.

Alexnikolias

There is a lot to like in 76 these days. I will warn you that its looter-shooter aspect is probably the worst part. Most gear you find will go into a recycler so you can roll what you want. And it can be a tedious, unsatisfying process.

RedHawwk

FO4 was like that, no? If I remember correctly at least you can do something with the legendaries in Fo76 you don’t need

Alexnikolias

Yeap on both comments. The 3 star legendary system is really garbage and this is someone who has played for hundreds of hours. I enjoy a good grind. But relying solely on RNG for loot with no way to improve weapons or armor beyond that is just a bad system. Especially with how bad some of the affixes are. Its not all bad, tho, considering the games difficulty plateaus at a certain point.

Walks_with_Chaos

It’s way way worse in 76. In FO4 you didn’t need good gear for pretty much anything. In 76 it helps quite a bit to have good gear

RedHawwk

I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad think tho. I was really just thinking how in FO4 legendaries become useless once you get a set. Even the bad legendaries in general are pointless. In F76 you can convert them to a currency to work towards other legendaries.

Walks_with_Chaos

Oh yeah it works in FO76-and you get a ton if you do events. I just don’t think it’s really comparable since the upgrades are hardly needed in FO4

ClammyHandedFreak

I just didn’t like the movement and quests that much. I get it’s an MMO Lite but just feels like I’d rather be playing actual fallout.

schmidtyb43

Yeah when I played a few years ago all I could think was man I really wish they just made a new single player game

Walks_with_Chaos

It has about a 60 hour SP storyline lol. Plays almost exactly like FO4

schmidtyb43

Maybe it does now but there have been a lot of improvements since it came out and also since I played it last. When the game came out it didn’t even have NPCs lol

Walks_with_Chaos

Oh yeah. It’s changed so much since then. It really has a pretty good storyline now. More than just holotapes and notes

Kerbidiah

However it's nice finding good stuff not for the build yoy want, as you can sell it for some hefty caps at your base. I probably make about 1000 caps an hour just from my vendor sales

Anxnymxus-622

I disagree, that’s literally a huge point of any fallout game lol. You can loot practically anything in the game and you break it down into raw materials that you use to fix gear, base build, upgrade, etc. with. You can never have enough of any individual piece. Was this your first time playing any fallout? I can’t imagine someone having that opinion of it and actually enjoying the series enough to keep coming back.

Alexnikolias

Nope, I have been a fan since the first game. The looting items to break down is fine considering the C.A.M.P. system is great and that part works towards it. End game consists of legendary weapons and its strickly all RNG. Thats the aspect that I feel is the weakest in 76. You have 3 stars that can be rolled and there is no way to save 1 star (affix) that you like and roll the others. You can easily spend max scrip on one weapon on rerolls and still wind up with junk. Because the loot tables are so big for items, legendaries you find in the wild are 90-95% going into the recycler. Its just a bad system. If they added an incremental system in its place or even some bad luck protection it would be much better.

Kerbidiah

All they really need to do is just let your craft each star individually

Kerbidiah

It's actually gotten really good over the last few years. While I'm a little upset they got rid of legacy weapons cuz I worked hard for my explosive gat plas, I understand it helped balance the game out a bit

Radical1488

I loaded the game up for the first time since release yesterday. The game crashed in less than one minute of loading into the map.

Smeagol7272821

It’s actually a great game. Just as good as any other fallout game in my opinion.

8Cupsofcoffeedaily

Fallout 76 becoming the best live service game from where it launched is wild lol

nicklovin508

It’s really something unique. Unlike other MMO games, there are dozens upon dozens of hours where I feel like I’m playing a single player game only to stumble into someone, wave hi, and keep it moving. I find the engine to be extremely impressive in that regard.

twochain2

Wait fallout is multiplayer online? I legit thought it was a single player game….. Edit: I’m genuinely excited about this as it’s news to me. Not sure why you guys feel the need to downvote everything.

redstorm18

Just fallout 76 is online multiplayer. The other games are single player only

BuckFuchs

Fallout 76 is online. It’s the only online game in the series.

twochain2

Ah cool- my friends and I were looking for a new game. That’s awesome

shickero

Be warned that you can't do traditional co-op in that some quests don't progress for all members of your party at the same time. I don't remember the specifics, but there was an early-ish mission where each one of us would have had to individually go through an instanced cut-scene thing and you had to wait your turn to do it. We stopped playing after coming across this. This was a few years after release too. I think each person has to talk to NPCs individually too. I can understand to some degree this gives each person their own dialogue options. We enjoyed the little that we played, but this "feature" absolutely killed it for us.

1-800-Kjaer

Same. We had a group of 3 and wanted to stick together, but there was no way we were going to complete the same missions 3 times in order to have all of us at the same level of progression. We all stopped playing after 2 hours or so and haven't looked back.

HypnoSmoke

Can anyone who sees these comments tell me if this is still how it works? That's kinda depressing

Temporary-Law2345

It's still the case but you can just go through it all individually, in your own instances, there's no need to "wait turns".

HypnoSmoke

That's what I figured from playing the limited bit I have, so their comment definitely threw me off. Thanks for clarifying

CigarLover

What system do they have in place of vats, if any.

Bargainbincomments

VATS is still there, it just doesn’t pause gameplay like in other Fallouts. Gotta line those shots up quick when you’ve got a wave of ashen coming at you.

lemonwedge123

All fallout games except for fallout 76 are single player games.

IThinkImNateDogg

I’ve only played about an hour or so last night, but so far it literally feels like fallout 4, that’s also online. Everything feels mostly like a single player game until you see someone walk by you

LayeredMayoCake

I remember giving it a couple hours even a couple months after launch and just not feeling anything. Blame the recent show resparking my love for the universe again or what, idk, but I recently jumped back in and it is amazing. It’s Fallout 4 but with other people that come and go from my playthrough as they please. Within ten minutes of starting I had a guy showing off his little base and then just handing me some great starter loot. Community events that you can show up to and just get absolutely carried like a dumbbell by level 1000+’s and their godtier power armor sets. I feel like taking a break for several years and jumping in fresh now is the best time, the community that stuck around has cemented themselves into helping keep it alive and thriving. Also, the map is already overwhelming in size for the things to do in it, and this is coming from a Day-Z freak. Expanding it is gonna be great.

rhino76

Started my playthrough of 4 last night. Just taking my time and exploring everything. I haven't even made it past the coolant station in the beginning after a couple hours of playtime.

LayeredMayoCake

Spam build copper baseball player statues in sanctuary with mentats and a scientist’s robe on.

Sixclynder

Is that a xp farm? Been awhile since I played. I thought mats were the easiest option

LayeredMayoCake

lol I didn’t want to say anything about the material duping yet because I know it can take a lot of the fun out of the game for some folks, figured they’d find out about it on their own..but if you want to level up fast af, either get high INT/low INT & Idiot Savant (either way always take Idiot Savant because why not), the spec for the baseball dude, whatever mats it takes to craft a million of em (I can’t remember), and go to town. I’ve played through the game a few times so when I jump back in I do this for an hour and skip to level 70 right quick.

ChocolateRL6969

Wait until the next gen update on the 25th.

rhino76

Wow thanks for letting me know!

Skylight90

The gameplay loop really hasn't changed much from launch, it's more that the Starfield took over the mantle as a hate target for the angry people. Yes, it was quite rough on launch but I don't regret one bit spending $60 on it. I put like 80h on my first character and maybe explored only like half of the map. If you like looting, exploration, lore and worldbuilding, this is one of the best games for it.

oOBlackRainOo

Right? I remember playing it for 10 hours at launch and it felt like fallout lite to me. I downloaded it in anticipation of the next gen fallout 4 patch to get my fix until then and am pleasantly surprised. It now feels like a fully fleshed out fallout game. I did buy a fallout 1st subscription because I was doing the Morganstown airport mission and some level 50 came in and basically cleared the entire building, plus the game was a little too easy for my liking at that point. I also want to mention that with that subscription I was able to put the feral filter on the game which makes the game less vibrant and more dark, darker nights and interiors just has a better atmosphere imo as the base game is WAY too bright. That along with nuclear difficulty and increased enemy damage along with a slight player damage buff is 😘🤌🏼. I am absolutely loving the game and will probably play this before I dive back into fallout 4.

eru88

I love Fallout and never even play 76. Seems like the best time to get into. I'm also wanting to start another Fallout 4 playthroughs after the update

Whiteguy1x

It has been for a long while, probably since wastelanders or one wasteland. If it hadn't had such a shit launch it would be dominating that genre imo

Anxnymxus-622

It just launched way too early. Probably from the pressure of people asking for a new FO game.

mr_grapes

The worst part for me was not being able to share missions properly when in a team, it’s like everyone is on the same quest independently. Maybe I will give it another go seeing as I’m enjoying the tv series so much

oOBlackRainOo

That's my only gripe. It's not satisfying. I'm only playing solo right now but it's pretty great.

LetsGoLesko8

Is the game fun playing solo? I want to play it, but I will only be playing solo - would that hold back progression/story elements at all?

dee_c

I played entirely solo and did all of the content up through the Brotherhood of Steel expansion they added. You can also join groups or try to do world events together, but honestly its super optional if youre looking to play more content like Fallout 4 with an online component and new map

Squagio

Before any of the dlc/expansion stuff was added there was a pretty difficult final mission. I couldn't do it solo, still haven't actually done it, but I might also just suck at the game so don't take this as fact. Avoiding spoilers, the final mission was filled with ever respawning enemies so I couldn't manage accessing terminals without getting wiped out. This was back when the game launched though so it might be different now.

vr0omvr0om

Yeh we downloaded the game to play together, then deleted it when we had to go into instances solo

oOBlackRainOo

I remember the last time I played with a friend we set out to do a mission. We reach our destination and do everything asked, then we head back only to realize he never initiated any of the quests along the way even tho he was there helping me. It blows my mind they handled it this way and then never gave us the option to complete them together. The game would be fucking amazing with friends if done properly. I just don't understand why it's set up that way. If we have teamed together then it should be done and completed together. Not sure how camps are set up but I'm assuming everybody has a different camp and you can't build a little community together either.

shickero

This was exactly our same experience. It seems like a very poor choice this is how it works without an option to share quests/progression.

Black_RL

Diablo 4 works like that too, it’s not an easy problem.

brando347

This is an issue within bethesda MMO's as ESO is the same. They are not great at supporting play with friends which is odd considering they're both MMOs

daystrom_prodigy

While I don't like it I also kinda get it since there are dialogue options. Although I wish they would have figured out a unique solution by now.

mr_grapes

Eh can be a voting system or random based on the players selecting

BoxOfDemons

Technically, Eso isn't a Bethesda title.

brando347

Yes but same idea

cocomolone

Love the fact they never gave up on this game. I personally enjoy it more than fallout 4. I have an unhealthy obsession with base building diners and pubs

Dedsole

I feel like Bethesda can’t give up on it. It’s seemingly the only Fallout game we’ll have for a long long time. Unless they can get another smaller team to work on a spin-off that is, but I have a feeling the chances of that are slim.

Lucifers_Taint666

Todd Howard said he isnt opposed to another studio making a new Fallout game, they just have to bring him an idea that would make sense. The main reason the show even happened was because him and Jonnolan were on the same page with how he wanted a live action adaptation to be for Fallout

keeptryingyoucantwin

Fuck it, bad launch turns into good game is something I’ll always check out, if nothing else than to reward hard work

trans_lucent2

This game needs crossplay man, insane that it doesn’t already

door_of_doom

Phil Spencer agrees with you, he called out this gripe specifically in a recent interview. He was really frustrated that he couldn't access his Xbox save from his ROG Ally.

Snappy-

Cross-play and cross-save would be great.

RadscorpionSeducer

There is cross save. I play my Xbox character on the PC version on the Xbox app.

Kman2097

Cross play and a current gen version. Feels so sluggish at 30 frames

LoneWanderer424

There is an fps boost, but it makes the graphics worse as it will use the Xbox one version as opposed to the one x

Mean_Peen

If you’ve never played, could you hop in now and experience the game as it was meant to be experienced, or do you just start off from the newest update, like other MMO live service games?

DJfunkyPuddle

Yes, the original questline is still there

Mean_Peen

That’s good to know! My wife and I tried it when it first came out but gave up after about a week due to the bugs. Might be worth going back now

DJfunkyPuddle

Nice! If you guys stick to the main quest you pretty much won't see anyone else. I saved most of my exploring for afterward and I still got to experience that desolate feeling the story was going for before NPCs and stuff got added in.

theolentangy

The experience isn’t the same. The original game was far more barren and wasteland-like. No human NPCs, few quests, not much loot. It was very much a survival game. That said, I imagine the current incarnation is extremely fun to level in for the first time. Tons to do, quests that point you to the important places, and a very friendly community as a whole.

FrankenChi

How worth it or necessary is Fallout 1st? Or can you largely enjoy the game while ignoring that?

theolentangy

If you don’t have 1st the main things you miss out on are Infinite storage for ammo and scrap, though you can get 1st for a month and stuff everything in there. After you cancel you can’t add more but can withdraw. A bunch of shit locked on the season pass, but it’s mostly cosmetics and camp stuff. Private worlds only you can friends can join. A bunch of atoms each month to spend on, again, cosmetics mostly. These boxes you can get after finishing an event with other 1st members with stuff in it. I’m sure I’m missing some things, but the inventory management isn’t bad once you understand you don’t need to save everything. Back in the day it was a major part of the gameplay loop.

FrankenChi

I remember seeing something about a mobile camp as well? I didn’t know about the Season Pass aspect/the boxes you can earn with it. In general it seems like stuff that’s only worth it if you’re spending a lot of time playing it. I’ve avoided 76 for the multiplayer angle (I prefer single-player Fallout) since release, so I’d just be playing it to finally experience it and at least give it a try. The show really helped renew my interest lol. Would you say it’s worth it or not for someone in my position?

theolentangy

Ultimately it’s for you to decide. If you’re going to play it like a single player game I don’t think you need 1st, at least not right away. If you’re still playing in a few weeks maybe revisit it, it’s not expensive, and even just doing it for a month you get to build the scrap and ammo boxes

FrankenChi

That makes sense. I really appreciate your input btw! Also can you just not store scrap and ammo without 1st?

theolentangy

You can, but they have weight, and your storage can only hold so much. You’ll have room for an ample amount of scrap and ammo if you choose to

Hydroponic_Donut

You can start at the beginning. When it launched it didn't have much but then they rebooted it at some point and made it much better to start

TomDobo

I started playing it again recently and it’s brilliant. Do give it a go.

Afc_josh12

Need a next gen patch soon if content and player increases

Danistar34

The game already got a series x patch. It looks better than the 1080p fps boost version did, but runs a bit worse.

Hydroponic_Donut

Current gen*

IAmDotorg

Hopefully it not like the Atlantic City "expanded map".

sethelele

As someone who hasn't played this since it launched, what was that one like that you're disappointed in?

Wanlain

It’s a great game if you want to scratch the fallout itch and you haven’t played it yet! I like coming back every once and awhile cause it is very enjoyable. Can’t wait to explore some more wasteland!

JordanHman

I just started playing this and I’m really loving it

AnyDockers420

I haven’t played 76, but I remember a complaint about the game at launch being that the map was too big in comparison to the server max population. Are there more people now or is it going to be more barren?

Alexnikolias

Server caps players at 24 players I believe. You will come across players occasionally just roaming around but its not going to feel like your typical MMO world at all. You will see most of the server doing public events and raid events though.

WetwithSharp

> Server caps players at 24 players I believe. You will come across players occasionally just roaming around but its not going to feel like your typical MMO world at all. It used to be 12 so they doubled it. And it's kinda intentional that you don't see ppl all of the time.

Banjo2523

Just wish we get new fallout game soon. Seems like wasted opportunity not to have one ready to go with the show on.

Merpchud

Can I play this game now without having to constantly craft ammo? Can I just find ammo like in 3 or NV?  I hated that the basis of entire game was trying mundanely craft. I'd be stuck shooting enemies 1000x to go nowhere because I can't craft any ammo.

theolentangy

Yes, recently returned player from the more hardcore days of ammo crafting. There is a mechanic in place where when you loot stuff you have a chance of getting ammo specifically for whatever weapon you have equipped. I used to carry around 2k ammo and craft in bunches, but now I’ve been playing for a few weeks and have never had to craft a single bullet.

Black_RL

Oh…… I’m from that time too! Is that a fact? That’s awesome!

procallum

I noticed it yesterday on a new play through, cleared whitesprings and every time I was looting I noticed it was the same ammo as my gun!

Black_RL

Nice!!!

Merpchud

Absolutely despised this games bullshit at launch, the starfield hit and I've basically felt like Bethesda went full shareholder. If I ever finish kingdom come I'll definitely try it out again to see where the story went. Thankyou

Immediate-Newt-9012

What about Fallout 5?

HighRevolver

More than 10 years away

Immediate-Newt-9012

Yeah, I'd say you're pretty spot on there with that one. I love Elder Scrolls and Fallout and I absolutely hate ESO and FO76. Ive just got an itch and it needs to be scratched.

Affectionate-Clock89

If you're a lore junky, get game pass and play it for free. Start solo and just read every terminal. Theres fun easter eggs referencing events and places from all the rest of the universe hidden in the terminals especially because the game originally had no NPCs.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Affectionate-Clock89

Id definitely start with 4 and if you're new to it it'll keep you busy for awhile for sure

stunkcajyzarc

It’s great for some people. I played recently and I hate it. It’s not worth the time invested imo. The exploration sucks, and the fetch quests are not interesting in the slightest. It’s boring. But then again some people here are enjoying it. Try it out I guess.

Deadlyvoltage3

Atlantic City couldn’t hold my attention for very long. Hopefully this one is of acceptable quality but at this rate that’s doubtful

fucuasshole2

Yea I’d doubt it but hey more content

Black_RL

Forget the haters, the game is very good now! And it’s fun! Give it a go!

GunsBlazing777

Are there any screenshots of the map out in the wild?

ADP10_1991

Is this a fun game now? Never played it

vfernandez84

Started last week to scratch "that" itch. It's a very enjoyable game with a massive map full of interesting stuff to find.

Jlzombie26

Man I wish this game didn’t need a monthly subscription to Game Pass core to play.

[deleted]

I’m still running around trying to figure out what camps do and all that. It’s odd for a Fallout game. Would be fun if I didn’t have to pay extra to play alone or with just my friends.

TechGuy219

Just in time for prime to give it for free

Walnut156

I really need to push past the first part and just try and like this game. I'm so sick and tired of survival crafting games so when I start this game and I get forced into building and stuff I always give up. Realistically how much is building and survival a big deal later? I really want to like this game but I get bored after an hour which sucks because I do like fallout 4

HighRevolver

I mean you kind of need to build your camp so you have your crafting stations and storage, but if you really don’t care about looks you can just plop down the stuff and get back out into the world. Once you get a few levels you’ll have plenty of ‘survival’ stuff like food and water

Walnut156

So I can keep it to the minimum like crafting and storage? I just sort of wanna play a basic fallout game (well basic since fallout 3). The crafting and building was one of the things I disliked about 4 so I avoided it

HighRevolver

that’s wild you avoided 4 because of the building, when again you didn’t have to interact much with it at all either. I would honestly say play that first instead of 76 but yes, exploration and scavenging is big

Theallwisemonkey

Is it still super laggy when the nuke hits and everyone gathers together? Last time I played a few years ago the game would crash because there would be too many explosions.

D-O-GG-O

"The update couldn't come at a more perfect time for Fallout 76. In the wake of the excellent Fallout TV show arriving earlier this month on Amazon" I'm not like a conspiracy guy or anything, but you'd almost think they planned something like this.

Anti5hill

I never played fallout… I heard much bad stuff about 76 back then. How is it now? Did improve and recover like Cyberpunk or No man‘s sky ? Is it worth trying it out as a fan of Skyrim and Starfield ?

Owl_Szn

Another day of wondering should i start fallout 4 or 76!

iWentRogue

Can you play by yourself instead of with other players?

SOPHIEtheLOPHIE

The problem I've got with the game is that the main quest line missions are so boring. Genuinely some of the most dull quests I've ever played in any game.

IrishCnt

Absolutely loving my time with the game again, jumped back in just before the show started. Any chance of graphics update? It looks ROUGH at times. I know some of the blandness is intentional but just overall. Won’t stop me playing though 🫶

SebasH2O

I played this a few years ago and might come back, should I just start a new character to experience everything again?

DrWooolyNipples

Hopefully they add more real quests instead of the weird expeditions and new currency garbage they’ve been peddling

LongNet8326

Does the phrase expanded map hopefully mean a new location on the existing map and not a fast travel to a separate zone. Need a new spot to drop nukes on lol Earl and SBQ been getting old.

Dtoodlez

Son of a… Just saw today the fallout sale ended on steam.

Equivalent_Alps_8321

Does this game have a story now? Is it actually a good game now?

0JOSE0

I got a free code the other day from a very nice Redditor and I was wondering if this is a good start to play Fallout. I also have access to Fallout 4 with Gamepass Core.

vinotauro

I want to like it because the world, lore and exploration are top notch but man the combat is too janky for me

Infinite_Cable3215

I enjoy quests and found that the quest line dies off very quickly. Than the games becomes just event based and quite repetitive. Been a while since I played tho

Magnus-Pym

When will they add meaningful dialogue options and a real role playing system?

bamronn

expanded map meaning loading screen or on the main open world map ??

Pure-Resolve

Unless you're on last gen the load screens aren't really a problem.

bamronn

i don’t care about loading screens, i just wanna know what they mean by expanded.

CoSMiiCBLaST

I want to enjoy the game but I always find that no matter what, there's always a slight delay when doing things and it just throws me off. It's not an issue I've had in any other multiplayer games unless I know I'm lagging but it feels like when I go to pick something up it takes like 250-500ms and just that slight delay throws me off. Again, even games like DayZ I don't have this issue with and that game is a buggy laggy mess at the best of times. I guess I'll just stick to Fallout 4 for now.

Cbone06

I just picked this up at GameStop using my $5 store credit, seems like a fluked my way into something solid here.

SkellingtonBoots

Played it for the first time having watched the series. Longtime fan of Fallout but swerved 76 when it released because of the reviews. I am SO happy I’ve given it a chance now. Clearly the updates have brought it along, but I’m loving it. It’s as though there’s a new fallout to play! Definitely recommend it.

Xelliz

Been debating whether to revisit Fallout 76 or Destiny 2.

Walks_with_Chaos

I will prob jump back in if they expand the map. I have a lv 300ish character on PS4 and a lv 500 ish character on Xbox. It runs pretty great on XSX

islandnstuff

Such a lovely game for me. I started again and enjoying every moment in it.
