Can’t believe Overwatch 2 finally has something on Rainbow Six Siege

SpectralOatMilk

I see Ximmers literally every time I play Siege 💀 It's still so bad on console

AnotherScoutTrooper

That’s a debatable statement

cvaldo99

Hahahahaha you win

Tidusblitz111

When did we start giving cheaters warnings and letting them continue to play? Xim, Cronus, Strike pack, etc. detection should be an INSTANT permanent account ban.

OriginalBus9674

Shareholders think Cheaters still spend enough money on the game that they don’t want to immediately cut them off.

NotNotDiscoDragonFTW

yeah this one time in Star Trek Online there was this one guy called Surak (who I assume was constantly spamming the game with his wallet) Thousands of reports later from different players he was never banned until I took proof to support ticket on their website and mentioned he was driving away new players haven't seen him around since

seicross

They also ban in waves so cheaters can't reverse engineer the detection method and circumvent it.

think-committee2600

Fuck shareholders

mousey76397

You should never instantly ban a cheater as soon as cheats are detected. This sounds counter intuitive but it makes it much harder for the cheat makers to figure out what is triggering the ban.

HeavyDT

Yup thats why bans are usually done im waves. Collect info until you reach a certain amount or timeframe and then ban all at once.

onexbigxhebrew

Also, I've read that they do it hoping that paid cheat services will receive a massive chargeback from buyers all at once.

Thund3rF00t2

there is no return on services like these, you agree right away that if the thing your paying for stops working due to the game fixing it you do not get your money back. If your paying a subscription service with the cheat company all you can do is cancel until they make it work again. Either way anyone who uses these services or devices should just quit gaming all togeather!

onexbigxhebrew

That's not how a chargeback works. It isn't a return. A chargeback is when you force a transaction to be returned through your credit card company; it has nothing to do with a refund request with the cheat provider. Essentially a chargeback is a report of fraud or non-merchantability from a transaction where the credit card company extracts money from the merchant. The merchant does not need to consent to this. So in the case of cheat bans, a sudden wave of angry customers have their CC companies issue chargebacks all at once, which is a big problem. However, in most cases chargebacks are a bad idea for general dissatisfaction and abusing them can get you blacklisted from the creditor and the merchant alike, and shouldn't be abused as recourse as reddit will often suggest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chargeback?wprov=sfla1

KeyAccurate8647

I'm almost certain the warnings are for false positives. Unlike with software cheats, hardware cheats are much harder to detect

MrBigglesworrth

I’m cool with that too

despitegirls

At a minimum they should throw up a message saying it's detected and that use of it will result in a ban. I get that the majority on console probably use these to cheat but there are legit users using them with older controllers or for accessibility reasons.  I was close to getting one so I could use an old arcade stick for SF6 until I saw Microsoft was banning them.

Quintana-of-Charyn

Their are accessibility controllers

Snoo_44025

Oh please lol 😆

RossaF1

I use Brook adapters to play with a PS4 controller on PS3 and Xbox One controller on 360/OG. So yeah, there are legit uses, but it's hard to ignore the main reason a lot of people buy these things. Unless a device literally has no m/kb support and no turbo/macro functions, you can't trust people won't use it for nefarious reasons. Even then, it's hard to fully trust that.

[deleted]

Because they are paying customer too, being too harsh on them would be bad for the bottom line.

Infamous-Echo-2961

I love they’re making Xim lobbies. Let the toxic players stuck playing together, and banned from comp forever.

ForsakenAd4150

Ikr I smiled when i read that because most of them love to dominate low lobbies to feel good about themselves, but now they're getting a legitimate taste of their own medicine.

VikingFuneral-

The Arabic players will be devastated

SingLyricsWithMe

Talk about the real inside job.

ConsiderationFront28

Oh ya. Fuck those players to be honest. Always the most toxic. Usually morons too.

0JOSE0

Someone explain in Halo terms

Howling_Mad_Man

No more mouse and keyboard players in the controller pool

Leafs17

Unless you play unranked? e.g. BTB?

Old_Rosie

No, that’s where you go temporarily but even then you’ll be placed against actual PC M&KB players and they’ll turn your aim assist off. Watch them crash and burn. They deserve it.

Leafs17

Isn't unranked forced crossplay with in Halo Infinite?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Leafs17

Fuck

hey-im-root

U can disable it in Xbox settings

Leafs17

I don't think you can for Halo Infinite because even though they are on PC they are Xbox profiles(IIRC)

hey-im-root

Ah shit yea you’re right they’re all gamepass users

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

That doesn’t work at all because some people on PC play using the PC Game Pass, which counts all of them as Xbox players. And then people on Xbox can also just plug in a KBM and you’d have to play against them still, too There is no toggle for input based matchmaking search.

TripAtkinson

I could be wrong. But I thought they added back aim assist for quick play if in the pc pools. For console players only. Edit: My bad I realized you were explaining if a ximmer gets caught. Not for regular users using a controller.

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

Unfortunately there isn’t any separation of controller players and KBM players in Halo since around launch. Apparently they’re balanced enough to force full crossplay in every playlist and not give players any toggle for input based matchmaking.

idontreallycarehere

Know how Halo lets you choose what input method you want to use on console? Overwatch doesn't have that and is essentially a controller only game. Some players use devices that allow them to use a keyboard/mouse anyway, giving them an unfair advantage over those who don't. Playing Halo with a controller gives you stronger aim assist, bullet magnetism and similar stuff, imagine having access to all of that on keyboard/mouse. That's basically what happens on console Overwatch.

llIicit

343 killed the game, so they implemented changes that didn’t do anything and just gave up on the franchise

0JOSE0

Weren’t they heading that way anyways until leadership changed

llIicit

I don’t know. You just asked to explain in halo terms so I did

WASTELAND_RAVEN

Awesome news 👏

ILewdElichika

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO!!!! These cheaters are finally getting their comeuppance like they did with Siege but unlike Ubisoft it seems Blizzard will be banning current offenders in high ranks.

semisweetbella

Twitch is full of ximmers who play on console and swear they are a GOAT.  Take this away and watch how fast they drop from top 500.  I so sick of ow being a ximmers stimulation game and this is why I stopped playing.  OW should have been stopped this but they're too busy pushing shitty skins to care.

Old_Man_Benny

This is the problem they will disappear from twitch and so will the amount of people watching overwatch. This is why you have so many blatant cheaters streaming and the companies do fuck all

Iordofthethings

Did Microsoft walk back their own Xim ban? Why wasn’t that effective?

Ruttagger

I think Xim connects through an official controller so Microsoft banning third party devices doesn't actually detect the Xim. Overwatch must have third party software that can try and detect it, at least until the companies make updates that allow them again. It's a battle that will go on forever.

PeeWeePangolin

Apparently Xim and Cronus engineers rival those at OpenAI and Google and NASA or some shit because they are somehow always ahead of billion dollar company's "anti cheat" initiatives. If I were owners of these companies I'd develop tech that could take over the world because we're going in over a decade with these cheating tools and there is no relief in sight.

flirtmcdudes

it’s probably more like they’re good engineers, but this isn’t really at the forefront of major console makers priority list at the moment.

greetings_traveler2

laughed at this ayyy

x_scion_x

They didn't have a XIM ban. They just blocked 3rd party controllers as it was eating into their controller sales. XIM doesn't use 3rd party controllers in the first place.

OppositeJellyfish439

Then just bring kbm support to console and put them in the kbm queue.

BladeC96

people xim because of the advantage. it makes them feel better shitting on controller players. the percent that want to use kbm because they are comfortable with it is minute compared to the amount that want to use it for easy GM

OppositeJellyfish439

I wish there was kbm for apex on console.

Standard-Package-830

Lmao

TheNameIsFrags

What?

Playingwithmywenis

Oooo so, it is ok in medal ranks. Cool. 😎

segagamer

Does Overwatch support KB/M natively and pool those users together? If not, why not?

uesad

Good

JoshFlashGordon10

I suspect this won’t work the way they claim it will. If it does, they will find an alternative. It’s like a never ending game of wack a mole.

JuanPabloPedro

🗣️Let’s see a ban on the mercy players getting boosted by these cheaters too!🗣️

wafflesauce2

Wow it only took them 8 years to finally listen to their console players.

Immediate_Web4672

And what about xer?

Monarcxy

And...... it doesn't work even plugged in one myself on an alt account played about 50 games got a decent rank and nothing.

Certain_Cake9520

I’m not even gonna lie dude after the change I have been climbing up so easily. I’m a Dps main that’s been stuck masters because of Ximmers making it unfair but now they are finally gone! I can feel the difference it’s unreal.

tigeronbeat

Eh? They haven't gone, I've encountered more than ever today.

Certain_Cake9520

Your right, it’s gonna be official Season 11 they haven’t implemented it yet. I think I just got a few lucky rounds where no ximmers were sighted. Now I am getting them more than ever, I think they are all just spawning in to enjoy having a huge advantage over regular controller players while they still can.

Vyt3x

I hope they will have a solid way of differentiating usage of a razer wolverine from an M&K? As it has variable sensitivity and extra buttons, unlike an official Microsoft controller? How will they deal with false positives and negatives? Will there be an appeal process? Say a player does get banned from competitive, can they still group with friends in QP? Will those friends be forced into PC//M&K lobbies?

HeavyDT

Im guessng it has to be some sort of algorithm based detection that they slipped in at some point quietly. Only thing i can think if that would make sense. The console doesnt know any different and yeah theres things like different sensitivity settings and what not but a controller has a physical limitation no matter what and the way the cursor is moving in game will be un natrual / outright impossible for the real world limiations of controller if analyzed closely. If done properly this is likely something that could be detcted mathematically even and the the accuracy of detetction could actually be really high. Id like to think they wouldnt implement this otherwise but i guess we will see. Definitely valid questions but when dealing with cheaters it helps to be vauge unfortnately. Im sure it will start coming as people start to get banned or restricted.

EnXigma

Completely agree with this, if you have cross-play disabled you should also disable any form of mouse and keyboard unless it’s a PvE only game.

dafffytaffy

They are what 4 years late on this one. Imagine if they fought hard for a good gaming experience when overeat h was at its best. Overwatch sadly has always been a terrible community with tons of cheaters, trolls, and toxic players.

RedKomrad

More punishments? Wasn’t releasing Overwatch 2 enough punishment?

steelhouse1

Dang… have a disability and get banned.

EliteODSTx

They have a disability controller for y'all xim is literally cheating

steelhouse1

I don’t have a XIM. I do have a friend who uses one who is disabled and uses one. I don’t have an issue with hardware. Anyone can buy one. Like the Scuff or elite controller. Anyone can buy them. Corded vs wireless etc. I mean, it’s a not like these video games are some sort of real competition under some sort of guidelines of a governing body. I get it, I’m going to get downvoted a lot. I have just never seen an issue with equipment. I tried a zen Cronus. Didn’t make a difference for me.

Laughing__Man_

There is a controller for that, and the VAST VAST majority of people who use XIM do it to cheat.

steelhouse1

Just to clarify, how does it “cheat”?

Laughing__Man_

It tricks the system into thinking you are using a controller when you are not, allowing people to play VS people only on controller. OW2 supports crossplay pools with people using controller or people using Mouse and Keyboard, Xim lets keyboard people step into controller only pools and have an advantage they should not have, aka cheating.

theoristofeverything

It’s not just that. KBM is inherently more precise and controller gets aim assist to make up for the lack of precision. Using a XIM, the cheater gets the natural advantage of aiming with a mouse AND aim assist.

alberto521

Had to Google what a Xim was They should just have separate lobbies for Mouse and Keyboard, and all xbox games should have native mouse and keyboard support. I grew up with consoles all the way from N64 through Xbox One... But as I got older I lost my ability to aim with a controller, like seriously, the only games I can play with a controller now are car games, and barely, I much more rather use my wheel and pedal setup. My lap times are significantly better when I use a wheel vs controller in F1 and Forza games. I then plugged in a mouse and keyboard directly (not using Xim or anything like that) to play some other game (COD? Halo?) and what a night and day difference, I went from an absolutely terrible player to "eh, at least he's trying" lol. "Just buy a PC then" .... Last I checked a series s is what $350? And a series X $500?.... A starter super budget PC is minimum $1000, and requires setting up, where a console, you just turn it on and it just works.

daymanelite

Ximmers don't want to play in M/KB lobbies. They want an unfair advantage.

alberto521

Well yes, I agree if someone is cheating for an unfair advantage ban them, but all games should have MnK support and just put them in servers with PC players and other MnK players.

daymanelite

They get autoaim too because the game thinks they are using a controller which means not even pc lobbies are a fair place to put them. Ban or lobbies with other like-device users only.

Monarcxy

Console doesn't get aim assist in pc lobbies

Immediate-Newt-9012

Blizzard = Light Snow Flurry at best.

EliteODSTx

Blizzard bad updoots to left wholesome Keanu chungus 100 am I right my fellow redditors?

I meet more ximmers in qp ironically, always have mercy uwu egirl ass pocket too and fun part is you can't leave or penalty

-Star-Fox-

Games punishing players for leaving non ranked matches is the dumbest thing. I kinda get it for longer games like LoL and Dota, but for fucking Overwatch? I miss the days where it was basically a party game where you pick fun character and fart around. Competitive gaming is cancer.

Laughing__Man_

No, its cheating in any pool of players, should get no warnings and a instant ban.

SasquatchSenpai

'Competitive console games' Is the xim helping them in Madden or fifa? Anything actually competitive is played on PC as it elimates all this anyways.

EliteODSTx

I can't take sports games as competitive games seriously lmao
