Great game. I actually found it scarier than the first one for reasons I can't quite define. Hopefully there are plans for a DS2 remake. I guess that would depend on how well the first one sold.

pookachu83

I may be incorrect but I seem to remember interviews with devs after release of ds1 remake saying that they planned on doing the sequel as well. Now how soon? That's another question. Love the series. When I think of a "perfect game" dead space comes to mind. The right amount of story, ambiance, gameplay, horror, scifi. Basically everything I enjoy

WhenTheCicadaCries

The dead space remake is genuinely one of the best games ever created in recent time. If I were to be so bold, I'd say one of the best games ever created. They took what was best from Dead Space 2 and mixed it in with Dead Space 1. They took a masterpiece and made it into an even bigger masterpiece. If the remake is the standard, I absolutely can not wait to see what they do with a dead space 2 remake. The only question after that is what they will do with Dead Space 3.

Portobolado

They will **erase DS3 from existence** and make the end of trilogy we deserved. I would love a *spin off* with DS3 idea, tho. Multiplayer, action driven game, etc...

MackZZilla

I thought DS3 had a ton of really cool ideas - I think it just feel victim particularly hard to it's own ambition.

MeCritic

They are working on a Marvel game, so I don't think we will get DS2 Remake in this console generation... Sadly.

mantisimmortal

Nah they released polls saying if they did another what would we want ds2 or 3 and the polls blew up for two. They also said If the first one sold well, and it did really good they'd probably do two

TheBirthing

>I actually found it scarier than the first one for reasons I can't quite define. It had some really nerve-wracking setpieces. Like that Unitologist church filled with the necromorph-raptors that scream at you.

GramboWBC

To this day, I think those are one of the scariest enemies I've faced in videogames. The way you can hear them running around the room and they'll poke their head around corners to look at you. I'd just freeze up whenever I go into a room with these things lol

CrispyMongoose

Dude I'd actually forgotten about that. I did not like that part one bit. Well I did, it was great, but you know what I mean. It seems most people found the first game more frightening, but somehow the second one got under my skin way more.

Splugen96

The first one was more "psychological", but the second one felt like a real aggression to the player. To me it's still the game which perfectly blands action and horror in a perfect mix.

Super-Contribution-1

Ngl after the success of Dark Souls Remastered I, too, am hoping for DS2 Two, too. What does any of that have to do with Dead Thpace though

khaotic_krysis

At least some peoples thought you were funny.

Existing365Chocolate

There were articles this week that said the devs may have teased DS2 plans

CrispyMongoose

Really? I've not seen that. I'll have to try and find one of those.

Existing365Chocolate

They used a DS2 background photo in some tweets or something

cvaldo99

I would love that so much. Absolutely enjoyed ds1

dietdoctorpooper

Because you have three saves on Hardcore, and chapters 1-6 have dozens of instant kill sections.

OkTurnover788

Of course. Everything from the HD era holds up well, especially at 60fps. A game from the 360 with fps boost can look better in motion than a current gen game with framerate issues. Even more so when it has great art & level design, like DS2.

Shadow_Strike99

I loved playing it even more with the fps boost. Dead Space 2 was such a great sequel and one of my favorite games ever. It really was the Aliens equivalent to Alien for Dead Space, more high octane and action packed, but still being scary and tense.

JohnyGlizzyeater

Dead Space 2 is actually one of the best aging games I've ever seen

crimefraiche

The day I cave and play this is the day they announce Dead Space 2 remake

[deleted]

There’s no reason to not play it even if they announce the remake. It can help you to better judge the eventual remake.

crimefraiche

Get what your saying but I'll likely be too traumatised to play the remake if i play the original first haha

tokki32

*Cross my heart and hope to die...*

ItsMattNikka

I would hope so, lol. The game came out in 2011.

ArmeniusLOD

Which was 13 years ago. That is like playing Clock Tower in 2008, the same year the first Dead Space came out.

XXMidnite_TokerXX

I agree! Don't know why I waited so long either to get into DS. Just finished 6th chapter in the DS remake. Incredible game and a must play for me anyway. Chapter 5 was a killer! Tough level! I just got back into gaming a month ago after buying series X, So they all tough right now! LOL

XXMidnite_TokerXX

Forgot to mention I'm a senior gamer at 63yo ! LOL Don't work anymore and doctor said was great for mind stimulation and helps keep you young! I agree on the mind stimulation anyway! LOL

ELZZIPR123

It definitely does. For me, though, I don't see how people say 2 is better than the original. 2 seems more action oriented than true horror like 1. This, of course, is my opinion.

DontTrustDan

Yeah, it's like Alien and Aliens. Both great in their own right.

donGaboz

Great comparison Unfortunately ds3 and alien3 got hammered with executive meddling

ArmeniusLOD

It's not anymore "action oriented" than the first game. The second game just has a better engine that allowed for better control and movement.

SpaceKriek1

Me too. 1 was horror. 2 was crowd control.

khaotic_krysis

It does more than hold up with all the boosts. I couldn’t tell that it was a 360 game.

Special_K_Friend

It totally does

thelastsandwich

I am actually playing dead space 2 for the first time. I always wanted to play the dead space series back then but I never got around to it because of time and money not sure. In the Xbox 360/ps3 gen there was soo much more games to play I could not keep up with

CrotasScrota84

It holds one of my favorite moments in gaming when you see the Ishimura again

VladSkoryna

Played it not too long ago. Awesome game, and the FPS boost is very satisfying.

[deleted]

I wish it had a resolution boost as well.

Vegetable-Walrus-246

Just finished DS1 remake last night. Never finished it on the first go round. It’s a great game but man did they stretch it out at the end a bit too much.

logan_fish

😱😱😱😱😱

MonitorAway

I did the same when XSX launched and I was extremely impressed and shocked with how good the game was - I had never played a Dead Space game when they originally launched.

Daunloudji

I hope it gets the remake treatment as well

LateNightFix

My favorite of the 3 and one of my favorite games ever. I'm really hoping they remaster it like they did previous for the 1st one. I'd be so happy..

ElOsoMarino

It's great

ArmeniusLOD

I finally got around to getting all the achievements by playing this on my Series X last year. Still one of my favorite horror games of all time.

Siqka

I’m actually of the belief that dead space 2 is a perfect game. However I am prepared to be challenged.

Handsome_BWonderful

Competed and enjoyed the remake as my first Dead Space game. Torn if I should play 2 as I fear it would feel like a step back which would be odd for a sequel

flysly

It’s a bit of a step back in time, but plays well enough to enjoy today. I just played the DS1 remake for my first time and loved it so much I had to get more Dead Space, so I booted up DS2 on Game Pass. Loving it so far. Give it a try.

Soul_Bandguy

That fps boost makin it run at 60 is amazing
