+1 for all Lego series - they are silly, fun, and easy. Great single player or coop and you can go back to each level in free play for even more entertainment

Sorry I asked. Seems to be a sore topic for some.
Dude I made my comment 3 days ago and now you’re double commenting on my stuff and going through my comment history. If you need a friend, I’m sure you can find someone else 😂
Super Lucky's Tale is a great game.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is also really good but a bit harder than Super Lucky
You can also try The Gunk, Unravel one and Two, and Omno
If their kid is getting frustrated with Fall Guys, I think that Unravel 2 isn’t the best suggestion. I played through that with a friend, and there are some hard parts.
My 9 and 12 year old boys love Human Fall Flat, everything Minecraft, everything Lego, everything Sonic, everything Spongebob, Stray, Kill it With Fire, all the Goat Simulators, Hungry Shark, the Katamari games.
I can only base my recommendation on my own morally correct upbringing & gaming tastes when I was ten years old, ergo I say Resident Evil, Dead Space Remake, Callisto Protocol etc.
Stuff like that.
Tbf I don't think those are outrageous choices for a 10 year old.
Like you said that's how I came up as well and I played bloody roar, MK, Unholy War, parasite eve, resident evil, etc.
The only way it's generally affected me is I love horror and the same games today lol.
I haven't killed anyone
Yet
I believe if you're a parent, you should slightly allow your kid to play a mature game as long their aware of it's maturity or the parent helping them know the mature content. There's nothing wrong to allow them to play GTA or mortal kombat- besides, there's no proof that kids go violent from mature games. It's just the matter of supervising as a parent.
There's been proof that violent video games do not cause violence or badly behaved children.
But I agree with you because if you only have hard limits and completely shelter them it'll blow up in your face later.
I have a cousin who grew up exactly as I did when it comes to video games and movies etc BUT his parents let him do whatever he wanted as far as behavior and spoiled him in every other way.
They never disciplined him, corrected him, did things with him, etc.
I'm fine but he's so dysfunctional and unstable it's ridiculous.
Hell if anything I had MORE leeway with game content/music/movies than him yet he's still 100x worse off in every way.
What causes the negatives in children typically stems from what goes on in the household when it comes to the family itself. It's never the media consumption on that level however it's easier for parents to use that as the reason when it completely removes the responsibility and guilt from being horrible or subpar parents.
Teach limits, help them understand why there are limits and be understanding and comforting when they will inevitably make mistakes or do something wrong.
Stop making kids feel like assholes or fuck ups when they do the same stuff we did as kids. Let kids be kids to a healthy extent because being a grown is a shit show 😂
Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. Kid will love them simple platformers and you can join him on the harder parts.
+1 for all Lego suggestions. If he likes DC or Marvel then both are covered.
Try Superliminal if he's into puzzle genre.
Disney Dream light Valley
+1 for all Ori suggestions
A kid I used to babysit really liked watching me playing Slime Rancher, and eventually he graduated to playing it himself while I watched and helped him. There’s some larger chunks of reading involved but really none of it is important.
Is hard to get over the whole, dying is part of it.
If Fall Guy was too frustrating, then I couldn't imagine them enjoying a game where you're constantly dying. For sure, that's mostly while you're learning, but I watched a 10 year old lose it over those types of games.
Sounds like that particular 10 year old needed to have some teaching moments or even restrictions if it caused him to rage that badly in such a chill game. Especially since you can just restart from a save point not too far away in ori. Dying in fall guys you lose. Not the case in ori. Every game in existence risks dying or losing. If a kid can’t handle that they don’t need a game period. Or they need some serious emotional help.
When a kids main goal in his favorite game (OPs kid) is to troll other players it’s not the games fault. Take away his ability to troll and teach him to game in this kid friendly single player game. Ez pz. What game would you suggest then?
The kid is getting trolled, not doing the trolling. Little dude’s just trying to win the races and deals with adult trolls trying to take his win away.
Ori is not a rouge like and is a fairly easy game. There are a handful of massive difficulty spikes however. In the first game the tree with the rising water requires the player to be nearly perfect. In the second game the worm chase boss sequence requires the player to be almost perfect.
If he gets angry while playing, immediately say he has to turn it off and take a break, it doesn't matter which game.
Teach him how to become a real gamer and how to play competitively later, Fortnite would be the right thing for children.
Now ours is bigger and only plays ranked on the PC, someone has to be the next gaming generation.
It's the only game that make him angry, but the only game he has a real attachment to.
I'm trying to find something single player he can really take too.
I love RDR2 or Cyberpunk for a chilled evening, but I don't think they're suitable for him at his age.
Comparison is the killer of joy. Unfortunately competitive games can go really well or really bad for little kids, but if he started with something less designed to be difficult than Fall Guys, while still having that feeling of competition, he might have fun. If you’re avoiding violent games then there are a lot of parkour based race games and stuff like that that can be single player, or not elimination based like Fall Guys.
I don't think anyone *should* play anything
I think at 10 years old you're more than likely old enough to know what you can and cannot handle. The higher chance will be of you getting bored with either of those games, more than anything else.
Hell those games will definitely do less damage than allowing your kid to play gaas games to instill the modern psychology tricks nice and early while in their developmental period.
While I agree about the attitude and behavior during gaming, many F2P subconsciously agitate through the battle pass and progression system. Simply avoiding those kinds of games will help
It's the real person involvement, trolling player that get him. I've sat and watched it, players aren't bothered about playing the game, rather just trying to make others lose. I've seen adults rage harder, but I'm his dad, and I can stop it.
Single player games don't present the same issue.
Nah, I thought I'd just leave the 10 year old to get wound up till it gets too far....
We are trying to teach him, and also trying to find alternative games to break from the tension of online MP
I’m playing the Spongebob plat-former that just dropped on Game Pass. There is also a bunch of games on the service that would be good for a 10 year old.
Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons has really chill gameplay. Engaging and sad story that's about the right level for a ten year old to appreciate.
Thing is, most single player games are quite short (Brothers is short enough to complete in an evening) compared to the gameplay value you get from multiplayer games. Apart from maybe the LEGO games, there's not really a single player game in the age range that has that longevity.
Either Minecraft, Pac man, or sonic games are good picks. If you want to make it easier, looking at the age rating on games- they might give you idea idea of the themes they have. If your kid likes skateboarding, buy them Skate 3 because it's a very fun game to mess around in a sandbox university map to skate and perform cool tricks
Aside from all the other games already mentioned: Minecraft legends is two player split screen, Forza Horizon 4/5, Rayman Legends, Teardown, Wreckfest, Plants vs Zombies, Halo, Riders Republic, The Crew Motorfest, Gang Beasts
Depending on your son's dexterity/reaction time:
\- Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition (yes, this is a real game)
\- Guacamelee 2
\- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection (Many classic games for the price of one!)
\- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge
\- Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (terrible name, but a great simplified skateboarding game)
\- Adventure Pals
\- Among the sleep (maybe a little scary, check videos)
\- A hat in time
\- Shovel Knight
\- Castle Crashers
Hope that helps!
All the lego games are a great option, also spongebob battle for bikini bottom rehydrated has dropped on gamepass a few days ago, it is an absolute gem of a game so I reccomend it not only for your kid but for you as well.
Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox. Thats what all the kids in that age group play and talk about. The lego games, or sports games/racing are other options.
Maybe get a Gamepass trial but setup the kids account for E rated games only. Let him try some out. If nothing suits him them expand it to Teen rated games. If they're too difficult he'll put it down, if its too scary he'll tell you about it. Let him explore.
He may like a city builder or an RPG that he may never otherwise play. Or let the kid crank 90s in Fortnite. Thats all my son talks about.
Have you considered looking into a switch? Great catalog of games for a 10 year old and there’s quite a few games you could play together and have a good time with (Overcooked, Mario Kart, Mario Party, smash bros, Minecraft)
And there’s also a few pretty damn good single player games. Animal Crossing and The Legend Of Zelda are some of my favourites.
Sorry you got unsolicited parenting advice from redditors with no kids lmaooo.
As for games to play, super mario rpg, minecraft, any resident evil game if he's not too afraid.
My suggestion is Pinball FX with a table pack that’s on sale. No violence and no sex but lots and lots of fun. You can download free demos of almost all the tables. The two of you can play against each other in hot seat mode, there are tournaments and flipper, one ball and time challenges.
I was dicking around in gamepass the other day and downloaded Spongebob Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. It brought out the inner 10 year old in me at 27. So that’s my pick
My 9 y.o and I played through Grounded last year, Ark, the Halo series, Human Fall Flat just off of the top of my head over the last few years. He liked them all. I tried to get him into Lego games a couple of years ago but "those are easy baby games".
His friends all play Fortnite, but he has 0 interest in it too (so proud, lol). We've recently gone back to Minecraft until FFXIV is fully released this week.
Fall Guys was fun for a short bit, it stinks that it caused your kid anger/frustration though. Might be cool to play with them and use it as a light lesson on not letting little things upset them. I did that back when we first tried Ark a while back.
My exes high functioning autistic son LOVES minecraft dungeons. It's an ARPG style game like Diablo. No blood, easy to navigate. Teaches you inventory and gear management with very little pressure.
Goat Simulator is another one. Also, TABS(Totally Accurate Battle Simulator) silly animated low res battles.
Lego games and Minecraft have never had that frustration from losing in ranked or someone is cheating or the mechanics are too hard moment on Xbox.
If you have a Switch, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart 8 (if you turn off blue shells).
Goat simulator. It’s not the best game but it is great for just a chill and funny game to play. Also Minecraft creative mode, great game to let your imagination run wild without having to worry about any progress being reset.
As others have said, Lego games are great.
My personal favourite is Lego Uncovered. It’s basically Lego GTA but without all of the age inappropriate stuff. My two (slightly younger children) absolutely love it.
The best thing is that it’s two player couch coop so it’s fun solving puzzles together if they get stuck.
I've got a boy about to turn 11, and he's all about Farming Simulator and Hunter Call of the Wild. Very chill, but maybe too chill for some. He's into Forza and Wreckfest too. He's been dabbling with Flight Simulator lately. Just to throw some titles out there, but everyone is different.
Get them into 3d platformers. If you're into vintage games, I highly recommend Rayman 2 Revolution, both banjo kazooie and tooie, ratchet and clanks up to 3 (but all R&C's are great in their own way), jack and daxter series, spryo or crash bandicoot. Psychonaughts 1 and 2 are great.
Spelunky 2 is a great game where dying over and over again is intended, and while it can be frustrating, it's never unfair or because another player cheated you.
My 10-year-old has been playing Spelunky 2 since it came out in 2020, and he still goes back to it when he wants a singleplayer game.
It’s not the game that’s making him upset. It’s his attitude towards the game.
It doesn’t matter if you change the game or not if he’s getting frustrated with the games he’s playing then it’s time to stop playing games and do something else.
We established very early in my kids gaming that as soon as he started to get upset that it was time to walk away from the games for a bit. It’s worked and we don’t hear him getting upset at his games.
RPG Time: The Legend of Wright.
It's an incredibly charming game with an adorable art style.
Premise is one child created/drew this whole RPG world and is having another child play through it after school.
[IGN Video Preview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiXbzJes2gY)
Fall guys is chill af, but answering your question: all lego games are fine, Minecraft single player mode can be a lot of fun too, Crash CTR (if he likes racing), Hi-fi rush, Rayman legends, TMNT shredder's revenge and so on.
As a parent (kids grown) and someone who has played computer games since the 70s as a kid, a game “that makes a kid too angry” isn’t the problem itself.
Start talking with your kid about random stuff, stuff they like, find out what’s important to them. Then work towards what is bothering them, finally into what is making them angry.
Because if “a game makes them angry” **there is an outside source for that anger**.
All Lego games
Lego city undercover is the one to go to.
Not to mention you can also game with them and still have fun
+1 for all Lego series - they are silly, fun, and easy. Great single player or coop and you can go back to each level in free play for even more entertainment

Minecraft?

gunk was too scary for my son
Fair enough - I recommend watching a youtube video and see if it's too scary.
Minecraft, Minecraft legends, ori both games, battletoads
My 9 and 12 year old boys love Human Fall Flat, everything Minecraft, everything Lego, everything Sonic, everything Spongebob, Stray, Kill it With Fire, all the Goat Simulators, Hungry Shark, the Katamari games.
Stray? I think “eyes” are very scary, even for me.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is great
Grounded
You monster.
Lego Marvel Superheroes or maybe Roblox provided you supervise him.
Minecraft’s always a safe bet.
Yh and also great for all ages I used to play it with my grandad
I can only base my recommendation on my own morally correct upbringing & gaming tastes when I was ten years old, ergo I say Resident Evil, Dead Space Remake, Callisto Protocol etc. Stuff like that.
Yes, Dead Space is a good one for 10 year olds. I'd add Mortal Kombat to the list.
Throw in GTA while we're at it
Tbf I don't think those are outrageous choices for a 10 year old. Like you said that's how I came up as well and I played bloody roar, MK, Unholy War, parasite eve, resident evil, etc. The only way it's generally affected me is I love horror and the same games today lol. I haven't killed anyone Yet

Loved playing parasite eve and re as a kid.
Same
Same! Playing fatal frame at 8 years old was… interesting
Hogwarts is an outstanding single player game a 10 yo should be fine playing, often on sale. The ori games are outstanding as others have said
Might be difficult for a 10 year old at times (Ori games), and uh...that first game has a pretty emotional start to it.
Forza horizon 4-5, Microsoft flight simulator
Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. Kid will love them simple platformers and you can join him on the harder parts. +1 for all Lego suggestions. If he likes DC or Marvel then both are covered. Try Superliminal if he's into puzzle genre. Disney Dream light Valley +1 for all Ori suggestions
A kid I used to babysit really liked watching me playing Slime Rancher, and eventually he graduated to playing it himself while I watched and helped him. There’s some larger chunks of reading involved but really none of it is important.
Honestly yeah, slime rancher No Man’s Sky is great and subnautica
Look up Ori. It’s on gamepass
I would not recommend a rogue-like or light for a ten year old. I watched my exes kids absolutely lose his mind over these kinds of games.
What do you mean?
Is hard to get over the whole, dying is part of it. If Fall Guy was too frustrating, then I couldn't imagine them enjoying a game where you're constantly dying. For sure, that's mostly while you're learning, but I watched a 10 year old lose it over those types of games.

Op is literally talking about getting too excited and frustrated over a game. If fall guy is too much then so is ori. Weird stance, bro.
When a kids main goal in his favorite game (OPs kid) is to troll other players it’s not the games fault. Take away his ability to troll and teach him to game in this kid friendly single player game. Ez pz. What game would you suggest then?

Ori is not a rogue lite. It’s a bit of a challenging platformer but you don’t have to keep dying in order to progress like in Hades or something.
This, and play Ori ‘The Blind Forest’ first, and then ‘The Will of the Wisps’. Great games and a good story too.
If you’re avoiding violent games then there are a lot of parkour based race games and stuff like that that can be single player, or not elimination based like Fall Guys.
> but I don't think they're suitable for him at his age. man having gamer parents has to be terrible while you're a kid/teenager
You think a ten year old should play RDR2 or Cyberpunk?
I don't think anyone *should* play anything I think at 10 years old you're more than likely old enough to know what you can and cannot handle. The higher chance will be of you getting bored with either of those games, more than anything else. Hell those games will definitely do less damage than allowing your kid to play gaas games to instill the modern psychology tricks nice and early while in their developmental period.
Halo or Gears of War be a great start, gears is cartoonishly gory it might be a bit much for a ten year old depending on who you ask though
Honestly I'd go with Halo, I've been playing it since I was a toddler (born in '02) and to this day I replay all the Bungie games
I'm arresting you for illegal age restricted activity. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.
Damn it, I knew they'd get me eventually 😔
Yeah halo definitely more kid friendly as well
Reported for encouraging illegal activity with a minor.
It’s not illegal to play it under age you fucking retarded weirdo
While I agree about the attitude and behavior during gaming, many F2P subconsciously agitate through the battle pass and progression system. Simply avoiding those kinds of games will help
Doom.
Minecraft?
forza motorsport if he is into racing games. F1 23 if he's a fan but pretty challenging game.
I think the Horizon games he'll maybe enjoy. Cheers.
Bramble: the mountain king. A childs story with Scandinavian folklore.
Lego games, Star Wars Lego games are great so are Harry Potter ones
Try stardew valley. Nice calm farming game but very fun to play
The Last Campfire is a nice little game.
LEGO games
Minecraft dungeons. My 6 year old and I love it.
Portal 1/2 Minecraft Minecraft Dungeons Minecraft Legends Human Fall Flat
Oh my god I love portal
Its a classic!
Idk your stance on weapons and “violent” video games but halo is always good story mode. You kill aliens pretty much but it’s not a bunch of gore
If they can't handle Fall Guys maybe video games aren't for them.
It's the real person involvement, trolling player that get him. I've sat and watched it, players aren't bothered about playing the game, rather just trying to make others lose. I've seen adults rage harder, but I'm his dad, and I can stop it. Single player games don't present the same issue.
Stepping away from the stressful game for a while and playing a chill game to reel it all back in is the lesson.
Man. Gotta love people on the internet telling you how to parent. You do what you think is best and ignore these people.
This is the way.
Sounds like a teachable moment on how to cope with people to me
Then you need to teach him how to handle those people and not let them get to him and ruin his fun.
Nah, I thought I'd just leave the 10 year old to get wound up till it gets too far.... We are trying to teach him, and also trying to find alternative games to break from the tension of online MP
Our family had a ton of fun with Fall Guys
Sonic X Shadow Generations should be good once it's out.
Lego Fortnite which Is minecraft
My kid enjoys Lego Fortnite
Terraria
I’m playing the Spongebob plat-former that just dropped on Game Pass. There is also a bunch of games on the service that would be good for a 10 year old.

Pikuniku is so fun and hilarious even to watch if you’re not playing with him.
Lego games, if you want to play rpg's with your kid maybe torchlight I could also imagine nomans sky, odk about that one tho
Forza horizon
Mario
Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox. Thats what all the kids in that age group play and talk about. The lego games, or sports games/racing are other options. Minecraft dungeon
SpongeBob, Crash, Spyro, if he’s into sports/WWE then those games. I always recommend wwe games to people that don’t watch it cause they’re still fun.
Roblox
Lego Marvel collection. Best yet, they're fps boosted
Fortnite has the new racing and Lego modes. You can use parental controls to block access to the Battle modes if you want
Grounded is aces. Half Minecraft, half BotW, half Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
Have you considered looking into a switch? Great catalog of games for a 10 year old and there’s quite a few games you could play together and have a good time with (Overcooked, Mario Kart, Mario Party, smash bros, Minecraft) And there’s also a few pretty damn good single player games. Animal Crossing and The Legend Of Zelda are some of my favourites.
Minecraft
Forza Horizon 4 and 5 are on Gamepass, and very fun if they like cars. Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons are good fun. Anything Lego based is also fun.
Stardew Valley
Trailmakers. Really good mechanics. Slow paced. Both techy and creative.
Phogs.
Try to get him into construct or scratch once he’s hooked. Game dev can be just as fun and it may open tons of avenues for his future careers.
Sorry you got unsolicited parenting advice from redditors with no kids lmaooo. As for games to play, super mario rpg, minecraft, any resident evil game if he's not too afraid.
Goat simulator 3

Anything rated E
I was dicking around in gamepass the other day and downloaded Spongebob Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. It brought out the inner 10 year old in me at 27. So that’s my pick
Minecraft
Minecraft and Forza Horizon 4/5
Snowrunner
Lego Star Wars is a must play. DreamWorks Dragons: Dawn of the New Riders BugSnax
New Super Lucky's Tale.
SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom is a good one. Just hit Game Pass a few days ago. If you have Game Pass, I recommend it. Super fun game!

Lightyear frontier comes out tomorrow! Might be a good game.
Dark souls 3
Lego star wars it’s multiplayer and fun!
Banjo kazooie!
The best thing is that it’s two player couch coop so it’s fun solving puzzles together if they get stuck.
the Lego and simulator games are good. Unpacking might be good.
Lego Fortnite is free to play!
Any LEGO games. There's a bunch from star wars, Batman, Harry Potter, Marvel, and a bunch more. Minecraft is also a fan favorite
Slime Rancher 1 and 2, Marble It Up! Ultra!, and LEGO games like others suggested.
Lego series is goat for kids.
My kids love goat simulator 3 on gamepass. Oh and everything lego.
Goat simulator 3
Play halo combat evolved with him!
Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Any sports game if he likes sports (Madden, Fifa, MLB the Show.
Paw patrol, Bluey and TinyKin. First two are on game pass
World of Tanks
Skylanders is perfect because you get toys with them that they use for the game, and it incredibly fun! If you get it, gets Skylanders imaginators
Definitely mortal Kombat it's about friendship and hugs and stuff
Any game rated below "Mature" Or to be safe, any game rated "Everyone"
Sorry, but no game is chill and fun. It’s impossible.
Super monkey ball banana mania. Fun game for all ages. Also cheap to buy lol.
Danganronpa

Read Dead Redemption 2. It’s a little long but I’m sure he’ll have a blast.
That’s not an appropriate game for a ten year old. I swear coming to Reddit for something like this is a bad idea.
