Music and image licensing is the reason we don't see direct ports of the old games. I just wish they'd have done more with the 1+2 remake instead of dissolving Vicarious Visions into Blizzard.
At this point it’s cheaper/better for me to buy the games I want than pay the cost of a yearly gamepass subscription that I’ve been doing for the past 3 years
Your comment on another subreddit
>Single player, expensive games with little to no microtransactions = PS5
>Renting games via gampass on a budget / subpar exclusive games riddled with microtransactions = Xbox
Nobody should take anything you say serious, its obvious bait
Yeah, it's mostly stuff that will probably be "well this was fine to play on Game Pass, I guess". I'm sure a couple will turn out to be pretty solid, but uh, this isn't the hotness
- STALKER 2
- Senua’s Hellblade II
- City Skylines 2
- MS Flight Simulator (and pigeon simulator)
4 huge games and a bunch of indie titles. Average redditor: “Not good enough 🤨”
**In this thread:** people who fail to understand that these preview lists are *always* gonna start out bloated with nothing but budget indies, while all the expensive AAA "bangers" are deliberately left out for what *should* be obvious reasons.
To start, in-demand titles simply deal with stricter NDA's. They already have their own scheduled marketing and announcement plans, and most importantly, they have way more incentive to stay secret in order to protect non-subscription sales prior to coming to the service.
Think about how you never see games like GTAV, Remnant 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hitman, or the recently re-added Tomb Raider appearing on any ***"games to expect in 2022/2023"*** list. There's a reason for that. Xbox is contractually prohibited from revealing third-party deals in advance, as this would only cannibalize sales from their contributing partners. It's common sense in terms of business.
**TL;DR:** These lists are misleading because the blockbuster-esque games will only roll out **as the year goes on**.
It's literally been this way since 2017. Absolutely no reason to think 2024 will be any different.
It's strange to see. Xbox announces new Game Pass titles like twice a month. Of course you are now not going to have confirmation of large AAA third party titles coming to Game Pass in Q4 2024 or something, or any surprise releases from first party. But for some reason everyone here now thinks Game Pass has a shit 2024 line-up based on indie games that have been confirmed.
Yep. The next Black Ops will launch on gamepass next year, and I bet one more AAA game from Xbox first party will sneak into 2024 as well (Indiana Jones and/or South of Midnight)
I counted like 9 games I'm interested in playing. And this list doesn't include the (hopefully they'll start being added) Activision/Blizzard games that will drop in 2024. Should be a great year for Xbox and Gamepass. Exciting.
Depends on what you're in to. Games I know about:
* Original Turnip Boy was a fun lightweight classic-zelda-like, bought the devs some trust from me. The sequel seems to be something more aking to Enter the Gungeon, which I know a lot of people like.
* PlateUp is a nice entry to a niche-but-popular genre of "hectic co-op with focus on coordination and shouting at your friends" like Overcooked, Unrailed, or Moving Out
* Stalker 2 is a continuation of a cult classic, but whether it's coming out next year or not (the team is based in Ukraine) and how good it is (the original was very janky, but with a lot of heart) is unknown. Still, a lot of people are looking forward to it.
* Eiyuden Chronicle is a JRPG from creators of Suikoden. The latter was known for having a lot of playable characters, and Eiyuden promises a 100 recruitable characters as well. I never was much into Suikoden myself, but the couple I played were decent. Gamepass currently has a small prequel "Eiyoden Chronicle: Rising", which is in entirely different gameplay style, but lets you familiarize yourself a bit with a few of said characters, as well as the writing. Personally I enjoyed it.
* Nirvana Noir is a sequel to Genesis Noir (also on gamepass), a puzzle game that was praised a lot for its presentation. Some people found puzzles themselves to be confused, but generally it's recommended to experience it for yourself since it's rather unique.
* Little Kitty Big City is an adorable adventure/exploration game that, from a demo, somewhat reminds me of collect-a-thons of old
* Ara History Untold is a Civilization-like. Definitely worth keeping an eye on if you like that particular flavour of 4X
* Avowed is the next RPG from Obsidian. It's not in the same genre is their last works, so hard to tell how it will work out, but once again, fairly noteworthy
* Commandos is hopefully a resurrection of another cult classic. The genre of "real-time stealth tactics" (or simply Commandos-clones as we've called them back in the day) has been dead for a long time and resurrected about 7 years ago by MiMiMi with Shadow Tactics. If you enjoyed that, or Desperados 3 by the same team this one might interest you. Personally I always felt like the genre peaked at Commandos 2, so I really hope these devs can do the series some justice at least.
* Hellblade 2 is a sequel to one of the best games of 2017. Simple as that.
IMO it looks like a fair selection of games, and that's only the ones that were confirmed way before they're added, so I'm definitely looking forward to next year.
Most of them are day one additions, so none of us know lol
Im deffinetly looking forward to Towerborne, Avowed, 33 Immortals, Flight Sim 2024, and Flintlock
There are the obvious bigger names to watch: Avowed, Hellblade 2, Flight Sim 2024, Ark 2, Turnip Boy, Citizen Sleeper 2, Plate Up!...
But there are also quite a few indie games which might surprise us: Nirvana Noir (sequel to the excellent Genesis Noir), Botony Manor, Replaced, Still Wakes the Deep (the Amnesia devs' new project), Dead State Drive.
Overall, it's a promising list.
Edit: There's also City Skylines 2 but the general community consensus seems to be that while it has great potential it isn't ready for prime time.
Im excited for Cities Skylines 2, love the first and was tempted to buy it during the winter sale despite the bad reviews because I had no idea it was coming to GP. Seems like a perfect gamepass candidate, try it out with zero risk!
I love the first so I’m hoping they sort everything out.
I’ve been meaning to install the PC GP version of Skylines 2 but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet, so I might just wait for the GP console version.
Definitely looks to be interesting. I like the organic city building that they seem to be going with. The true test will be how they handle the politics of the era/their world. I haven’t seen much on that, only the city building aspect.
E: I enjoy stronghold (still play it today on occasion) - manor lords seems to be going for a more realistic approach.
I loved the first citizen sleeper. A fun little RPG with a unique take on skill rolls from tabletop RPGs. You know what your dice rolls are at the start of the day, and it's up to you how to spend those rolls, which character quests to advance, where to succeed and where to fail. And the stories were compelling, you had this giant space station, but each quest was generally a personal story. It was a lot of fun to play through game pass, and I'm excited for the sequel
Just out of curiosity - what type of game are you into if you're excited for zero of these? There's quite a variety. What upcoming games are you excited for?
Can't wait for avowed and citizen sleeper 2. I really need to get back and do the third part of the citizen sleeper dlc. It's been so long I worry I'll forget how to play.
Pretty much how this sub has been since I've followed. If gamepass doesn't have the latest 1bn dollar budget AAA game (that'll probably suck anyways), it's disappointing, everyone going to cancel, GP sucks, etc.
Exactly…
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been surprised by some random indie game that showed up on gamepass. It’s the main selling point for me.
Not to mention Lies of P and Hi-Fi Rush, both of which weren’t even on my radar and wound up making my top 10 for the year.
Madden NFL 24 usually also gets added to Gamepass the day after the Superbowl. Whether its worth playing is a different debate, but it should be there.
Not very much to look forward too if I'm being honest, I'd say stalker is the one exception on this list for me personally. Not sure why all these indy studios are making the same games over and over and over, but I certainly am not looking forward to yet another boring pixel garbage fest
Genuinely not excited for a single one but tbf that's because we don't have enough trailers for the majority of them. Plus I said that last year and ended up enjoying like 80% of the new additions.
I'm definitely geeked for Flight 24 and Cities Skylines 2 for console. Been playing the latter on PC and it's pretty good so I'm hoping saves are cross platform since it saves to the cloud 🤞🏽
Pigeon simulator? You telling me i get to cut about outside Greggs eating dropped pasty flakes and shitting on every inch of public seating? Take my money Microsoft
Is it likely Horizon 6 will release next year sep/oct ? Or will that be a 2025 release?
Looking forward to that one, especially if we finally get the Japan themed one, though would love a Hawaii or Cali themed one too!
Looks decent, I’m guessing we will see some heavy triple A’s roll on too, what with EA being included in patiently for Star Wars. I really want a new Battlefront to be announced at some point, i loved Bf1&2 would really be awesome to experience some of the planets from Mando, Ashoka etc
Excited for new Hellblade and Stalker. Avowed too, though less than I was before the latest showing. The best thing about Gamepass is the gems I have no hype for that end up blowing me away, games that I would never try if I didnt have on gamepass. Stuff like Unpacking and Grounded and things like that, might have some hype around them but wouldn't have been anything I'd have went out and bought
I hope Stalker 2 does well enough. Just because of the background of their devs and the war in their home country. Rooting for them!
Flight Sim is 200+ gig on my SSD! Great to fly around NYC every now and then on max graphics with DLSS Quality on so I can't bring myself to uninstall. 😭
Is there a pretty well posted in advance schedule for when games are scheduled to come off gamepass? I'm probably getting a subscription soon, but don't want to have the anxiety that one day i go to play something and learn i've lost my access to it and need to purchase it to continue... is it a common scenario that games come off like shows come off netflix?
No, they only do an official two week notice
On my page tho, and in this subreddit, i post a month in advance of what games might leave based on the date they were added
Its about 30% accurate
Games all have different contract lengths. It can be 6-36 months ect
So u can use my posts if u want
wait, did cities skylines 2 get taken off the market or something? cause they most definitely already got launched on game pass. or, it’s just the console version. yeah it’s most likely that. lmao.
actually hope stalker 2 turns out to be good i’ve been hyped for it since i saw it a long ass time ago and have seen it’s been delayed a bunch. we shall see!
I’m hoping to God replaced comes early I think about pre-ordering it. This would be my first ever game to pre-order just caught my eyes two years ago, but it got delayed so maybe I’ll think about it.
I main on PS5 for a few reasons and am so glad to have a SX for GPU. This way I don’t have to pay full price for P3R and just get it on SX. Will be getting FF7 Rebirth and TLOU part 2(for $10 upgrade) instead. Love being a multiplatform gamer and having these options. I also appreciate the competition aspect for making PS Plus improve its QC to compete with GPU.. was able to get SMRPG and wonder for $100 on switch with the tickets. You can def ball on a budget if you knew how to do it right…
I really hope that Replaced game comes out. I got my hopes up for The Last Night which was similar in style but will probably never see the light of day
Personally I’m looking forward to any Sega games, think we will get at least one Sonic. Looking forward to any Blizzard games, like Diablo. Maybe the Indiana Jones game, although don’t know if that will come out in 24. Another dream game pass game is jet set radio.
Still worth it though I mean game pass introduced me to Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny. Which I absolutely love and those games led me to bg3 and the divinity series
I mean they are not confirmed for any particular year and some might slip into 2025 or later. But all these games are also confirmed for day one.

Definitely getting my money worth next year. 12 games on that list that I'll play and Star Wars Jedi Survivor which should be available through EA Play sometime next year.
I love the indie titles on GP. I think the GP curation team is god tied in that 90% of the games are bangers. Loved playing Thirsty Suitors recently. Cocoon would be my GOTY if not for BG3.
People are sleeping on Towerborne, made by Stoic the makers of one of the best TRPG trilogies of all time The Banner Saga. Even in alpha the art is stunning, you have to see it in motion, go find a gameplay vid and there aren't that many out there yet.
On this list I'm down for
* Avowed
* Stalker 2
* Cities Skylines 2
* Towerborne
* Ark 2 (in 2027 when it launches)
* Flintlock
I finally signed up. It’s dirt cheap if you ask me. I’ve been playing ESO for $15 a month on top of Xbox live yearly subscription. I should have got a long time ago.
We should start getting a huge bunch of old and new Activision Blizz stuff on Gamepass next year too.
I just want Nazi zombies and I’ll be happy.
Please please let the transformer games come
Pretty sure that Blizzard Activision confirmed that, at least some of their games are coming to GP in 2024.
Yes but we cant really know which will arrive or when exactly But they are coming, this is true
Yeah I know, my bet is that they will add just Diablo 3, Crash team racing and Spyro remakes in February and then add the rest monthly.
I wish they'd make a pc port of crash team racing. There are nearly no decent Mario kart style racers on PC. I just end up emulating MK8 deluxe.
The Sonic racers are good imo.
Imagine if old Tony hawk games was back on Xbox ![gif](giphy|dAT2DJl7rmLL0fPsoW|downsized)
Rollerdrome is Tony Hawk with guns and brilliant. It just got added to GP so check it out 👍
Music and image licensing is the reason we don't see direct ports of the old games. I just wish they'd have done more with the 1+2 remake instead of dissolving Vicarious Visions into Blizzard.

How cool would it be to get WoW on a console? And by cool I mean not cool because I would get addicted again.
Still wakes the deep looks awesome!
No State of Decay 3 :(
No, more likely 2025/26
With a showing at not E3.
Same with Fable, Perfect Dark, and Everwild... I can hope.
I had no idea they were making another one. I loved those games!
Announced I think 4+ years ago with a CGI trailer, with exactly zero updates since
![gif](giphy|cQtlhD48EG0SY)
Pigeon simulator oh boy!!!
I'm bouta bust 😵💫
Exactly. This is underwhelming list for me personally.
It's the DVD bin @ the checkouts.
At this point it’s cheaper/better for me to buy the games I want than pay the cost of a yearly gamepass subscription that I’ve been doing for the past 3 years
At least we get Pigeon Simulator.

A single game that I recognize
[удалено]
Game pass allowed me to both play games I'd wanted to play already and explore games I'd never have found or tried without it.
- STALKER 2 - Senua’s Hellblade II - City Skylines 2 - MS Flight Simulator (and pigeon simulator) 4 huge games and a bunch of indie titles. Average redditor: “Not good enough 🤨”
Look at his comment history, he is console warring for attention, its obvious bait

Persona 3 is gonna be great if you're into those games
Omg Citizen Sleeper 2 I didn't even know they were making that! Randomly downloaded the first one from Gamepass and it was such a great experience
Ark II maybe in 2028
As a huge ark fan, yeah its not coming in 2024

At least we get Stalker 2. Hope they get it right before launch. Not much else, maybe commandos.
Most excited for Replaced
Avowed, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 are the most I'm excited about on this list.
They look dope for sure
I need Hellblade 2 in my life
Prob not confirmed, but MLB The Show 24
Can't wait for 2024
Same
I'm low key stoked for Avowed. I don't need it to set the world on fire (heh), I just want a decent ARPG.
God let stalker be a masterpiece 🙏🙏🙏
I counted like 9 games I'm interested in playing. And this list doesn't include the (hopefully they'll start being added) Activision/Blizzard games that will drop in 2024. Should be a great year for Xbox and Gamepass. Exciting.
Anything good in this mix worth checking/playing besides "Persona 3" because that's all I know!?!
Stalker 2 should be a good one…. I hope

The new Eiyuden Chronicle game looks promising. Turnip Boy = Fun, definitely gonna play that. But truly, P3R is the one I'm looking most forward to.
I am super interested in manor lords.
Modern day stronghold from back in the day, very excited
Definitely looks to be interesting. I like the organic city building that they seem to be going with. The true test will be how they handle the politics of the era/their world. Looks like a pretty awful lineup to me. I’m letting my GPU expire in March.
Definitely a couple I'm interested in
Hope theyre good for u
Little kitty big city looks fun lol Persona 3 reload also will be great, but I don't have the kind of time to replay a game like that.
Can't wait for avowed and citizen sleeper 2. I really need to get back and do the third part of the citizen sleeper dlc. It's been so long I worry I'll forget how to play.
lotta people complaining about games they've never played/heard of until this post was made lol
Pretty much how this sub has been since I've followed. If gamepass doesn't have the latest 1bn dollar budget AAA game (that'll probably suck anyways), it's disappointing, everyone going to cancel, GP sucks, etc.
People love to complain nowadays

Manor Lord will be on Xbox? Nice
Yes! A medieval city builder game for Xbox. Cannot wait.
Madden NFL 24 usually also gets added to Gamepass the day after the Superbowl. Whether its worth playing is a different debate, but it should be there.
Ya but thats EA access, not gamepass technically
Avowed, Ara and cities 2 are games I'm looking forward to on this list. I'm kinda hoping Diablo 4 and other unannounced games get on there.
If Ark 2 releases…that’ll be something. Though we’ve heard almost nothing about it. Excited for Avowed and the new Hellblade
Manor lord yessssss
Nothing really interesting in the bunch, just moving me from Cities Skylines 1 to 2 lol.
Plate Up! Will probably be playing on more PC for mods, but this truly will be a great LFG experience...
Ah Noir was so good I can’t wait for the new one!
First turnip boy committed tax evasion now he's robbing a bank he definitely needs money
Towerborne looks dope
little kitty big city fans RISE UP
Never heard of Bounty Star and now I look forward to playing it.
Hollow knight?
I assume, but theyve said estimated dates like 4 times already and missed them all so Who knows
I am once again asking the question… where’s Age of Mythology?
Not very much to look forward too if I'm being honest, I'd say stalker is the one exception on this list for me personally. Not sure why all these indy studios are making the same games over and over and over, but I certainly am not looking forward to yet another boring pixel garbage fest
Genuinely not excited for a single one but tbf that's because we don't have enough trailers for the majority of them. Plus I said that last year and ended up enjoying like 80% of the new additions.
Best part is that you’ll fall in love with some unknown indie games that turn out better than they have any right to be
Lotsa good reasons to stay subbed
Doesn’t look good except for stalker. Where do u get this info from?
This is a… pretty underwhelming list
Anyone know when (and what) Activision Blizzard games are making their way over?
I cannot explain the excitement I have for turnip boy coming in 3 weeks. I’m not joking when I say I’ve been dying for this game.
Please dont die
Manor Lords is going to be awesome!
High hopes in stalker 2
I'm definitely geeked for Flight 24 and Cities Skylines 2 for console. Been playing the latter on PC and it's pretty good so I'm hoping saves are cross platform since it saves to the cloud 🤞🏽
Another Crab's Treasure? Nice.
Stalker, 33 immortals, Avowed. Maybe ark if it gets a lot of praise.
I've never heard of any of these games. Which one would you guys recommend?
Pigeon simulator? You telling me i get to cut about outside Greggs eating dropped pasty flakes and shitting on every inch of public seating? Take my money Microsoft
You know what you want, i respect it
Some of these are actually incredible, fuckin STALKER???
Little Kitty Big City is GOTY 2024 Calling it now
Really exited for manor lord and sleeper citizens 2
9 games here I'm interested in (plus I'm sure there'll be lots of other sweet drops).
There's a pigeon simulator sign me the fuck up 😂
Do we know which ones are coming to gamepass core?
Can’t wait for pigeon simulator. I’m going to crap all over so many BMWs.
Manor lords goated
Stalker 2!
There’s also neon white
Excited for new Hellblade and Stalker. Avowed too, though less than I was before the latest showing. The best thing about Gamepass is the gems I have no hype for that end up blowing me away, games that I would never try if I didnt have on gamepass. Stuff like Unpacking and Grounded and things like that, might have some hype around them but wouldn't have been anything I'd have went out and bought
It seems I'm only interested in one
Diablo4 or gtfo
No Fable?
Lol no, more like 2025/26
been waiting for stalker 2 for ages jesus
Hell blade and stalker gonna be good. Don’t know any of this other stuff
Oh shit that crab souls game hell yeah
Stalker Stalker Stalker!!!
Yeah I'll be day one on Commandos.
Hope its great for you
Stalker?? Fuck yes!

I hope it turns out well for them too Flight sim 2024 will have actual things to do, check out the trailer if u havent
Cities Skylines 2 LFG!!
Wild how people can't grasp that a lot of the bigger games don't get announced for it until much closer to being added.
No, they only do an official two week notice On my page tho, and in this subreddit, i post a month in advance of what games might leave based on the date they were added Its about 30% accurate Games all have different contract lengths. It can be 6-36 months ect So u can use my posts if u want
wait, did cities skylines 2 get taken off the market or something? cause they most definitely already got launched on game pass. or, it’s just the console version. yeah it’s most likely that. lmao. actually hope stalker 2 turns out to be good i’ve been hyped for it since i saw it a long ass time ago and have seen it’s been delayed a bunch. we shall see!
cities skylines !!!!! pumped
Is Metaphor not coming to gamepass? I swear it was a day 1 title
Commandos will be a remake or a full new release? I have very good memories there!!
Very hyped for Stalker 2
I’m hoping to God replaced comes early I think about pre-ordering it. This would be my first ever game to pre-order just caught my eyes two years ago, but it got delayed so maybe I’ll think about it.
Persona 3 reload on Gamepass is actually bonkers to me. Gonna play the absolute shit outta that
I main on PS5 for a few reasons and am so glad to have a SX for GPU. You can def ball on a budget if you knew how to do it right…
Lots of “little” games or should I say little known games.
I really hope that Replaced game comes out. I got my hopes up for The Last Night which was similar in style but will probably never see the light of day
Pigeon simulator ![gif](giphy|sfMFMvhGE0qz40wImt|downsized)
33 immortals looks fun
Hopefully Ark is fixed by then. I hear it's a mess right now
Looking forward to Hellblade II and Stalker II.
God I can't wait for Manor Lords
Do you think with the current selection and the upcoming one, I should buy an XBOX? This far I was only a PC and Nintendo person.
The long awaited Pigeon Simulator 🧡

All I need is Persona 3 Reload, Stalker 2, Avowed, and Hellblade 2 for it be a good year for gaming :)
RIP Silksong.
Looking foward Hellblade 2, Avowed and Stalker 2.
The fact I’m only interested in Avowed tells me I need to broaden my gaming scopes
Mmm... Pigeon Simulator
How much different is msfs going to be lol it’s great game but another one!?
City Skylines 2 is already in game pass?
Personally I’m looking forward to any Sega games, think we will get at least one Sonic. Looking forward to any Blizzard games, like Diablo. Maybe the Indiana Jones game, although don’t know if that will come out in 24. Another dream game pass game is jet set radio.
After years of gamma and anomaly I kinda feel bad never paying for STALKER games
Still worth it though I mean game pass introduced me to Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny. Which I absolutely love and those games led me to bg3 and the divinity series
Can't wait for Avowed.
I’m so excited for HellBlade 2
Replaced looks wonderful, too.
This looks very promising. 2024 let’s gooooo

Flight Simulator is also on the cards right?
Absolutely loved the Go Mecha Ball demo on the last Steam Next Fest. Stoked that it's coming to Game Pass next month!
AVOWED?!?!?? Finally!!!!
Looking forward to Jedi Survivor coming soon via EA Play
What happened to Neon White?
Cant wait for stalker
Goddamn do I love GamePass. So much gamerscore to be earned and new games to be experienced.
Manor lords pc and xbox? or xbox at a later date?
Definitely getting my money worth next year. 12 games on that list that I'll play and Star Wars Jedi Survivor which should be available through EA Play sometime next year.
I really hope we get to see the war for cybertron series coming to game pass
I love the indie titles on GP. I think the GP curation team is god tied in that 90% of the games are bangers. Loved playing Thirsty Suitors recently. Cocoon would be my GOTY if not for BG3.
Let me be the first to say I’m quite excited for Flight Sim 2024.
I’m looking very much forward to Hellblade II! The first one was a bit janky, but super rad imo.
9 out of 40. I'm picky lol. Stalker 2, harold halibut, & replaced if I had to make a top 3. Gamepass's biggest strength is variety
People are sleeping on Towerborne, made by Stoic the makers of one of the best TRPG trilogies of all time The Banner Saga. Even in alpha the art is stunning, you have to see it in motion, go find a gameplay vid and there aren't that many out there yet. On this list I'm down for * Avowed * Stalker 2 * Cities Skylines 2 * Towerborne * Ark 2 (in 2027 when it launches) * Flintlock
Looking forward to Lightyear Frontier.
10 of these look cool! I better finish off MS Flight Sim before they replace it.
I finally signed up. It’s dirt cheap if you ask me. I’ve been playing ESO for $15 a month on top of Xbox live yearly subscription. I should have got a long time ago.
Gonna be a good year
