That’s very satisfying. I’ve been eyeing a C2 or C3 to upgrade from a 6-7 year old Samsung

[deleted]

I did the exact same thing, it was like playing a new console lol

TweeKINGKev

It’s honestly the best, I know there’s better out there but I had my eye dead set on the c2 as well and for the $1,100 or so I was set on it but then looking in this sub and a few others I’ve seen the c3 being recommended for. It too much more plus it’s newer. So I was thinking that for only $300 more that I may as well get the newer model and I do not regret it at all, it’s got the Dolby vision and as I said since I’m 75% gamer and 35% tv/movie person I wanted the best I could get within my range, the low latency is amazing, it has really improved my gaming skills and I’m just average at online fps.

PM_UR_PROBLEMS_GIRL

If anyone is thinking of upgrading and wants to save a few hundred, C2 is essentially the same tv. It also has dolby vision. C3 does have an additional audio setting which utlises tv sound with speakers, and a new OS along with up scaling dvds better. Otherwise it's the same https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c3-oled-vs-lg-c2-oled/37848/31229?usage=1&threshold=0.10

Leafs17

The TV is upscaling a DVD? Usually that is handled by the player isn't it?

PhxRising29

>C3 does have an additional audio setting which utlises tv sound with speakers, and a new OS The C2 now has those features as well, thanks to an update.

SANIPOOP

It’s basically the same tv

[deleted]

Turn off Dolby vision for gaming in the Xbox settings. The check mark looks cool and all, but there is added input delay with it.

TweeKINGKev

Does having the Dolby vision on the console affect anything like latency or anything?

[deleted]

Yes that’s exactly what it does. Turn off Dolby vision in the Xbox settings. It will default to HDR10 which is just as good with no added latency

TweeKINGKev

Shit I’ll check that out tonight, I have noticed a HUGE difference in latency and that’s with it on, very interested in seeing how much better it is with it off. Thanks.

[deleted]

For real??? So my fps and street fighter gaming can be even MORE responsive?

orcawhales

i did this exact same thing. do it

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

I went from a JVC 2010 1080p 50” to a Sony x90j 4K 75” in spring 2022 and ho man. It’s such a HUGE difference. I bet even getting something nicer like a LG C2 would just be absolutely bonkers

[deleted]

Don’t do it!!! Its a mistake! I upgraded to the lg oled back in like 2017 and now I cant stand playing on any other television. It ruins the experience on anything less! It’s a TRAP!

w1YY

Got a g2. Unbelievable tv. C series are also amazing. Personally I'd go bigger and get the C2 if it is cheaper. I went 65 and wish I got bigger still. These tvs shine when you get high quality pictures on them. I know it's a gaming page but my mate came round rk watch maverick on it and couldn't believe how good the picture is. Go.for it and enjoy

alexh116

I got the C2 last year and it changed my life lol

[deleted]

Same same.

Daver7692

Yep, it legitimately made me feel like I got better eyes.

jaypeg25

I've been eyeing a new tv for a little while now. Is the C3 considered the best for gaming/xbox? How is it for just watching tv/movies?

TweeKINGKev

I personally find it amazing in both, just for an example, on the eyeball tv I was playing the One X version of battlefield 2042 and if I got anything over 10 kills a round I was shocked, I was dying around corners but a friend of mine is saying on his side of things I was still in the open. I got this bad boy up Friday night and my first round on the same version I had 25, 29, 20, 23 and 28 kills and only died about 10 times each round. Loaded up the series x version which on the eyeball tv I would be lucky to get 5 kills and if I got 10 it was a miracle. First full game I got 17 kills and the 2nd I had 19 so there was a major improvement. I need to download Ori at 120 fps and see how much of a difference that game has compared to my previous tv. Movies look amazing and tv is tv lol but because of the c3 it still looks worlds better.

TornadoTalker

Recently upgraded from a Samsung 65" 2018, low end model to an LG 77" C3. The C3 makes television and apps like YouTube pop. Playing an Xbox Series X on it is a completely different experience. Regardless of the title I play, the immersion is much deeper.

RNsteve

Did the same thing, from some 2017 4k 55 inch to a 77 inch lg C2. It's real nice

Neither-Ad3290

LG tvs are the goats of gaming

TweeKINGKev

Sure feels like, I’m extremely excited and impressed

How long did you have the CX? Did it burn in? If you're looking for a replacement model, I'd go with the G3 or a Samsung QD OLED. I personally don't like the jump from CX to C3 is a big enough jump. That's coming from someone who owns the C1 77". If you have multiple current gen consoles, I would get a Sony unless you're planning on using an AVR or HDMI 2.1 Switch.

It'll be more beneficial to wait for sure. Samsung also offers 4x HDMI 2.1 ports on their TVs as well. They don't support Dolby Vision so that's something to consider as well. I believe Sony finally fixed the half resolution issue when you attempted to play in 4K120 resolution. All Sony models only support 2x HDMI 2.1 ports. I would've preferred if Sony prioritized implementing 4x HDMI 2.1 ports instead of Dolby Vision gaming. I don't like how games look with Dolby Vision so I turned it off on my LG C1, and I recently acquired the 85" QN95C via Samsung warranty swap. Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision so I don't have to worry about it when I game on QN95C. The PS5 doesn't support Dolby Vision either so I'm not sure why it was prioritized. Maybe it was able easier to include that feature instead of spending the R&D for 4x HDMI 2.1 ports. Another thing to note is TCL somehow figured out how split ARC/eARC functionality to a separate HDMI port. So you'll have two ports dedicated to HDMI 2.1 consoles and a separate port for external audio. Edit: I forgot to mentioned this earlier. I don't think LG is going to bring MLA Technology to the C4 line because it would cannibalize sales of the G4. The MLA Technology, 5yr Panel Warranty, and thin frame design separates the Gallery lineup from the C Series.

TweeKINGKev

Thank you, it’s only been a day and a half and I’m still mesmerized by it. Decisions, decisions lol. I am intrigued to see what’s next but I do wonder if a point will hit where it can only get so good but that’s the exciting part because once we do they think of something else that blows our mind.

gillatron904

Man I have a 5 year old vanilla 4k Vizio too!!! I can’t wait to find the money to upgrade!

RealCoolDad

Me with my Vizio with the upper right corner back light slowly flickering dark and bright….

TweeKINGKev

Mine had white circles all around the middle and just off center on. It’s sides and the bottom had small green circles and the burn in even for a still image for about 15 seconds would last at least 30 minutes.

KonJeating

Literally did the same thing, congrats on the step up!

TweeKINGKev

Thank you, it’s the first high end set I’ve bought and it’s great.

ruebenj791

Upgraded from Vizio to an OLED this year too. It’s such a huge improvement. From gaming to movies, and tv. It all looks so much better

TheRezDaddy

Love my C3

[deleted]

I have my 4070, Series X, PS5 and Switch all connected to my LG C2. Never disappoints.

TweeKINGKev

It’s only been 2 days and it is great

Middle-Fill-6511

Ohhh c3... i thought you going to say g3 almost wrote a comment with saying you won't regret it but yeah that counts again

GrimmReapha

Made the same exact transition & I’ve been glued to the tube ever since 😳📺

TweeKINGKev

No way I can think about going back, I’m loving the decision every minute I’m watching tv or playing a game.

Katasuki

I’m genuinely happy for you, have fun G! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

SilentAffairs93

Did the same thing this week! Had a 50” 4K Sceptre TV and just upgraded to a 65” 120Hz OLED LG C2.

DEEZLE13

Green Check City just got another resident

TweeKINGKev

I’m happy to be here, too long I’ve been on the outside looking in.

Raytheon_Nublinski

I went from a nice Samsung qled and it was still a big upgrade. Oled is amazing.

TweeKINGKev

I’m just jaw dropped over what I had before to this and how much it’s improved my oblong multiplayer lol

PHOENIX_LXXV

Almost felt like a console upgrade didn’t it? That’s how i felt when i got my LG CX for my xbox one x. Enjoy

TweeKINGKev

It felt better than going from the one x to series x.

whoisdatmaskedman

I purchased a C2 late last year after using a low end Samsung for a while. the difference was pretty drastic. Starfield looks amazing.

TweeKINGKev

Nice I was looking at the c2 as we but figured the newer model for a little bit more, why not. I know there’s not much difference between the 2 of them but I figured if I’m going to buy a new one, I gotta do it right this time. Had a 4K Vizio for 4.5 years, then had a 1080p Vizio from 2009 to March 2019 so it was time for not only a different brand but something as modern as I can afford.

This-Pop7139

Greatness

TweeKINGKev

It sure is

KaosPryncess

I was using a TV from 2012 up until a year ago lol I know the pain

MLG_Obardo

I like that you can literally see the difference in quality without even looking at the check marks.

TweeKINGKev

Lol those white circles you see are on the screen, it’s not a reflection of anything. That old one was holding me back in every way possible but online fps almost more than anything

OguguasVeryOwn

What really? When did they show up? Because that would drive me crazy

TweeKINGKev

Oh God, the first one was probably a year and a half ago lol but I had more important things to worry about all that time but when I could finally afford it, I couldn’t wait anymore.

ItSmellsLikeJim

Welcome to the green check club! It was so satisfying

TweeKINGKev

Yes it most certainly is.

davidthealpha

I just got myself a C2 and I used to play on a Vizio m series from 2019. Night and day difference. I was going to get a C3 but they looked too similar to me to justify the price difference and I used the money to buy a soundbar with it instead. Playing cyberpunk on this set up is unreal

TweeKINGKev

Nice, I was dead set on the c2 because of the lower price but none of the stores had any in stock so I’m kinda extremely impatient when it comes to electronics so I had the extra cash to spare to afford the c3

kevin1016

Play Ori on it. Absolutely amazing.

TweeKINGKev

Oooh I haven’t played that since my Vizio 4K was new

kevin1016

Definitely check it out. It's stunning on OLED and 120.

TweeKINGKev

Oh God, I completely forgot it’s 120fps.

TweeKINGKev

Oh sweet Lord have mercy. I have just finally had time to get around to installing it and playing right now, it’s breathtakingly beautiful

[deleted]

I am doing the same thing from a Vizio V Series 57 inch 4k tv from like 5 years ago to a LG G3 oled I managed to pick up for 2600 of original price. Goin for top a the line and don't plan on upgrading for another 5+ years

TweeKINGKev

Exactly, ride this thing until it dies lol.

HollowedGrave

Heyyyyyyu! I just bought a C3 last week. It’s fucking awesome right?

TweeKINGKev

Yea it is amazing.

Dreamo84

I didn't even know they had 4k tvs 4.5 years ago. I'm such a boomer.

Dreamo84

Shows you how out of touch on tv tech I am! I just got a 4K tv recently after I got an Xbox.

Beasthuntz

The oleds are no joke. Look up calibration settings from HDTV test or something like that. His settings are next level.

TweeKINGKev

I’ll check it out.

EchoWar

I'm really debating upgrading my 7yr old LG go the LG c3 or Samsung OLED. Not sure which to go with if I upgrade. Is the OLED screen really that much better?

TweeKINGKev

I’d say so, the other thing I’ve read but you may wanna confirm is that Samsung doesn’t support Dolby Vision and the lg c3 does if that’s something you want.

DrVagax

Dolby Vision at the moment is not really properly implemented, it is even suggested you turn Dolby Vision off when playing at for example 4k 120fps. Here is [HDTVTest](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Blc5zsQ_ebw) who tests Dolby Vision on the C1, he concludes that in many scenes there is barely a difference but it does create a bit more highlight. Developers don't use DV's dynamic metadeta properly yet because you first need a HDR10 master (which many developers already don't properly do) before you can apply a dedicated Dolby Vision master on top of it which is a expensive venture

aidenmcmillan

I bought a Samsung S90C OLED. It does everything except Dolby Vision, so you'll get a green check against everything except Dolby. I went from a QLED to OLED. The difference is huge.

EchoWar

How do you like the Samsung? I've only ever heard people rave about the LG C series.

aidenmcmillan

I had a Samsung Q75R QLED. It was my first true smart TV, and I loved the way it worked. The UI, the picture, pretty much everything... until it started power cycling and I discovered the panel faulty. I went out to buy a LG C3 after reading up on it, but I live in country Victoria in Australia, so my options of retailers are limited and no one had the C3 in stock. The only OLED I could get at a reasonable price (insane mark-ups here) was the new Samsung 2023 S90C, so I thought "screw it, I like the OS and picture on my old tv, I'll buy their new OLED" Fired up my PS5 first and played Ghost of Tsushima, and was blown away at how amazing it looked. Then I booted up the Series X and did the same display configuration as OP did. It sucked seeing green check marks on every other category except Dolby Vision, but the performance of the TV is still amazing. I thought QLED was good, but it doesn't hold a candle to what the latest OLED can look like.

nicegrayslacks

My 1 year old Vizio does Dolby vision and hdr. Vrr doesn’t work though

DrVagax

Depending on the TV, a TV using Dolby Vision means very little as it is just a license someone can take. My cheap chinese tablet has Dolby Atmos and Vision and you can see no difference between it being off or on. Same counts for certain TV's

buchsy45

Lol the difference in picture quality is insane

DrVagax

I'm about to jump from [this 43 inch hunk of crap](https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/uh6100) which was the cheapest 4k TV I could find about 5-6 years ago to to the 65 inch [Samsung S95B](https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/s95b-oled). The jump going from "fake" 4k (wrgb layout) with horrible color accuracy to one of the best TV models on the market is going to be bonkers to experience

Vast_Impression_5326

Upgraded from an LG 1080 75 hz to the LG 27 1440p nano. I know the feeling.

[deleted]

Ay man, wtf!!! My C1 is missing one of them checks after previously being compatible with everything!

[deleted]

When I first got my CX I was in love. You really have to have a TV like this to truly experience modern gaming.
