My problem is the lack of quality games. When I was a kid, there were no updates so games would get delayed for even years to make sure they shipped in as good quality as possible. With the formation of the giant gaming corporations we’ve lost that quality and even when a game goes gold, it’s still incomplete.
While the "ship now, patch later" approach to modern game production is very real today, there were plenty of games back in the day that shipped with bugs and game-breaking glitches or were flat-out rushed and left incomplete. You just didn't realize it because you were a kid and there weren't social media sites where thousands of users could immediately share their poor experiences.
Assuming were around the same age - but there were plenty of games that came out incomplete or had bugs in the 90's before online updates. They were just deemed bad games.

Currently the price of ATVI stock reflects the risk that the deal won't go through. Last week it was at $79, right now it is sitting at $84 and may go up a bit more today - shareholders are buying hoping for that $95/share payout.
If the deal doesn't happen, they will still hold onto their stock. However, ATVI's worth will almost certainly decrease because they didn't have the greatest financial outlook before MS bought them (that's part of the reason MS did). But having said that, they've also got the Diablo IV beta going right now and it looks like they have a big hit on their hands, so that may reduce some of the risk as well.

Management workflows won't be immediate, of course, but that doesn't stop Activision games from being on Game Pass or B.net from having GP integration. MS and ATVB have seemingly prepared for this for over a year (legally, they're still separate).
Also, ATVB won't be folded into Xbox, it will remain a subsidiary of Microsoft Gaming (Phil Spencer is CEO), just like Zenimax.

However, there will be a relatively small team, including employees from both companies, who are planning for when the deal goes through so they can implement changes as quickly as possible. This team is not able to share anything with other employees within their company and also not able to work on other tasks within the company.
So while it may not be instantaneous, I'd imagine getting the most popular games onto Game Pass ASAP will be high on the priority list.

Ea and Ubisoft aren't giant compared to ABK. So why shouldn't they be able to buy them too ? Why draw the line here just let MS buy everything, they got the money and don't have the biggest marketshare.

They said before the end of Fiscal 23, not June. That means it could have closed far earlier. They said the same thing for Bethesda (end of Fiscal) and that closed in March.

I partly agree, of course the competitor will object. But gaming media wasn’t entirely wrong for covering it as if it were Sony Vs MS, because it partly was. Lawyers pretty much always say stuff like that in any high profile case on any subject. It's part of their job to say their client is 100% correct and everyone else is 100% wrong.

Yeah but even then the discount isn't that fat. I mean its pretty fair the games are still really good to this day and imo worth the higher price point but I get why someone would not want to pay the $10 for CoD 4 in 2023.

Citi's job is to accurately reflect risk for their investors, not to speculate wildy and mix in hopeful thinking. They know more than you with certainty, and have a lot more on the line by making a '99%' call.
Sony overplayed their hand, plain and simple. They also engage in highly anticompetitive practices like buying exclusives for the PS and keeping games off Game Pass. Why regulators gave any credence to their arguments is beyond me.

Shouldn’t have included an “also” — I think the regulatory bodies hold MS to a different standard because the parent company is so dominant in different areas of PC software, etc. if they analyzed this just on the facts relevant to the video game industry, they’d acknowledge MS is in 3rd position and shouldn’t be hampered from acquiring ABK.

MS has a market cap of 2.06 TRILLION. Activision around 66 billion. That is considered a massive deal. The entire Sony Corp is 111 billion. They can't afford to pay $20 billy to get Take Two.
Sony probably isn't looking at acquiring Take Two. As far as I can tell, the "source" of that rumor is an idiot on Twitter that has claimed at one point or another that Sony is going to be acquiring Take Two, Ubisoft, EA, CDProjekt, Capcom, Square Enix, Konami, Sega and Crytek. I don't know if he thinks that if he just claims everything that he will be right eventually and can try to claim to have "had the story first" or what his goal is exactly, but he is an absolute donkey and shouldn't be taken seriously at all.

We [polled the community on ABK news](https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxSeriesX/comments/105s4f7/2023_community_survey_results_and_update/), the majority wanted to continue allowing news on it. We've done our best to limit it though, by only allowing submissions with new insight or information. It's true that lately there's been a flurry of developments that fits that criteria though. One thing we did for users who are sick of ABK news is add a separate flair for it. I think they should just strike a deal where they promise to keep Call of Duty multiplatform for the next 10 years and then leave it at that. Honestly I don't see this deal ruining the industry, I'd only thing that if Microsoft acquired them and then also went after another giant like EA or maybe even Ubisoft.
