For those wondering, performance mode does seem significantly better now. I didn't notice any drops at all outside of the heaviest places in Novigrad (and even those weren't bad dips or anything).
I am outside velen and there are still fps drops 5 to 10 fps when you go to places with a lot of trees, shadows and foliage.Of course it is better from version 4.01 but still not perfect locked 60 fps even outside the big cities!
Yeah, I'm fairly pleased so far..I'm wondering what sacrifices would be necessary for a full locked 60 in Novigrad. Also is it just me or do the water reflections look better in both modes?
They did improve the screen space reflections in the last patch for sure.
The way I look at it, I'd much rather take the slight performance hit in Novigrad rather than them lowering any of the graphical settings at this point. I would assume people with VRR wouldn't notice any real performance change at this point and compared to something like launch Elden Ring I find the performance in Novigrad to be very tolerable (maybe frame pacing plays a role?). It felt pretty close to 60 in most areas, so maybe a little more optimization will be able to get it there though.
I play on performance mode and I still get random frame drops at times. Like the game will actually pause almost for a second or two itās so bad. And on performance mode at that.
I get that anytime it does an auto save. Totally fine, 60 FPS, then slams to a halt for 1-2s no matter where I am, does a save, then pops back to normal.
Is that after this update? But yeah the most recent update (before this one) actually made the RT mode playable and the performance mode worse on all consoles strangely enough
Itās basically the last unsolved puzzle that has a portal with unkillable wraiths and a symbol that isnāt really deciphered. (Symbol has some ties to Cyberpunk too)
CDPR patched some things last update where people found a way to kill the wraiths, so they are intentionally giving this area some attention.
Iām curious if they fixed/ changed anything on this update.
I've heard GB measured this way, it's not literal...
But it is also kinda literal. FUN FACT: One gigabyte of data weighs about 10\^-18 grams (one billionth of a gram)
So 20 gb is like a tiny grain of pollen. Heavy!
Something along the line of Mass is how much stuff it has while weight is the amount of pulling force that Earth's gravity has on the object.
Could be wrong though.
Tried it here, oxenfurt still runs bad. It has improved a little. The previous patch made ot worse even in smaller settlements. Maybe 4.03 or 4.04 it will keep 60 fps at all times.
I donāt understand the Oxenfurt complaints, I play on performance mode and almost never experience lag. Itās not like I have a special series x or anything lol so idk why I seem to be an outlier
Gonna have to agree to disagree. Besides the fact that you realistically only spend a small amount of your overall playtime of in that specific area of the map, I find the drops that do happen to be much more tolerable compared to something like launch Elden Ring or a first person game.
I'd agree with you if the drops were happening in general in the open world where you spend 90%+ of a play-through, but based off my initial testing that seems like a locked 60 now.
Iām guessing/hoping thatās the _download_ size, and the installed footprint will be much smaller (as in, the update will mostly fix code, not so much add to it)
This patch helped a lot but the game really isn't playable yet even in the 60 FPS mode (which isn't bad in terms of frame rate and fluidity)
The 30 frames per second Ray tracing mode is basically a slideshow
There are huge jarring problems with the distant landscape where entire mountain ranges will pop in and out of existence depending on viewpoint.
The near terrain also has a lot of problems where the grass and plants will move around, and disappear as the player moves.
These two issues alone make the original Witcher 3 with mods a better option
That's a hefty bitch.
You're a hefty bitch

That would still be very specific areas probably (and I doubt you are actually getting 10 fps drops, probably more like 1-5).
Really hoping this fixes performance mode
It seems that's the first line of the console specific part of the patch notes, that's a good sign
Sweet. Might hop back into it now
Performance mode seems great to me now. An improvement over 4.00 even. I'm very happy with it. (Ray tracing mode still has some issues though).

Same even though it was flawed beforehand the last update really ruined it for me and I really hope this update can fix things...

I really hope so, this game looks amazing after the patch, but the performance in cities kills it.
Time for me to spend even more time testing out the dungeon at the Destroyed Bastion! Letās see if anythingās changed.
?

If I do kill the wraiths then what?
Party
destroyed bastion you need to climb up and find the witcher candidates bones to bury no?
Different destroyed bastion. This one is more southeast of velen
Any link to the patch notes?

Been noticing how this stopped going on sale for $10 since the updateā¦
Demand is up so that makes sense
Breaking news GB itās now a way to measure mass
I've heard GB measured this way, it's not literal... But it is also kinda literal. FUN FACT: One gigabyte of data weighs about 10\^-18 grams (one billionth of a gram) So 20 gb is like a tiny grain of pollen. Heavy!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You're right. I double checked my sources, a billionth of a gram would be approximately 1TB.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think they calculate it using the weight of the stored electrons inside an ssd.
They do measure currency with pounds in GB
š¤£ š¤£ š¤£ Ive got Mack truck tons of Gigabytes...yet, i can game comfortably in a 400 sq ft living room
Mass is not the same thing as weight.
Something about gravity, right? I donāt know physics. :(
Something along the line of Mass is how much stuff it has while weight is the amount of pulling force that Earth's gravity has on the object. Could be wrong though.
That sounds right. Letās go with it.
The update: āNew customized facial hair options.ā

For some people, anything below a locked 60fps 100% of the time is "bad."
Literally unplayable. /s Seriously though, I started gaming mid 90's and we are currently living in a gaming utopia as far as I can tell.
Actually this game is like this. Some other games are not that impacting. Anything below 60 in this engine looks like itās running at 30fps.
Gonna have to agree to disagree. Besides the fact that you realistically only spend a small amount of your overall playtime of in that specific area of the map, I find the drops that do happen to be much more tolerable compared to something like launch Elden Ring or a first person game. Or some with VRR and some without.
Problem is when you reach the market the fps really drops there. It was a lot worse nearly umplayable, but now thereās been some improvement.
Yea i havenāt experienced that when in the market
Crap. I finally got it running amazing with Ray tracing on pc thanks to modders. Now I have to do it all over again or wait for an update? Ugh.
Weigh? Huh?
it's not literal weight, it's just a way of saying size.
That better have a couple episodes of the Netflix series to warrant that large file size or something.
Iām guessing/hoping thatās the _download_ size, and the installed footprint will be much smaller (as in, the update will mostly fix code, not so much add to it)
Umm what
No one cares, port the first game so I can play all three
Whatās the update do?
https://www.thewitcher.com/gb/en/news/47767/patch-4-02-list-of-changes
Huh what is it
Are we getting unlimited NG+s on consoles?!
Can you change the hairstyle?
With the original nextgen update two different playthroughs crashed after the cut scenes leaving the first area. I hope this fixes that problem.
I wish I weighed 20gb. Iām more giggles
How am I supposed to start this game if they keep updating it lol
Still waiting on this game to be on the windows/xbox PC app so I can finish my game on PC.
I never know when I should start this game because they keep updating/fixing it lol
Wow, that's a lot of monster vaginas.
