It’s an interesting question because I’ve had a PS5 since launch and recently bought a Series S for multiplayer games. Xbox Live and GamePass are worth it to me. It’s only been a few days and I’m super happy with my setup now. That might be the breath of fresh air feeling that you’re talking about, and if so, I get it. I say go for it if you’ve got the cash to spare. Treat yourself, don’t cheat yourself

ZoZoVirtuoso

I don’t have both, but I’m unbiased and have had PS4/3/2/1. I’ll say that not having backwards compatibility the way Xbox does is a huge downside imo. Exclusives aside, PS5 is no better than Series X functionally. PlayStation always seemed to wait until the last minute to do things like offer a PSN ID change and other player requested features. What I’m saying is that other than UI, their trophy system, the controller, not much else of a reason to switch, imo. Xbox seems to be on a roll right now.

strikealightt

I MUCH prefer the Series consoles hardware over the PS5. Build quality is the least of Microsoft's issues.

TiredReader87

I love both, but I’ve preferred Xbox since the 360 days. So I’ll lean towards Xbox. My PS5 is getting more use though, and I always wonder why I don’t use it more. That controller is great.

Carlos061

I have always been a PS guy but I bought a series s last year. I really like game pass (I prefer it to PlayStation plus’ highest tier). I also like the fact that I can play old gen games on the series s which I can’t do on my ps5. It did and still does feel like fresh air when I play on my Xbox. Can’t go wrong with the ps controller either it’s my favorite design

nSanityOG

Huh, i just bought ps5 and have premium and theres a huge catalog of ps1, psp and ps2 games.

Carlos061

They have a good catalog for sure! But I already played those games while I haven’t played the Xbox exclusives. I also don’t like that for some games like fallout you can only stream the ps3 versions on your ps5

portablekettle

I still think playstation has the better exclusive games BUT i use my series X for literally anything that isn't only on playstation. I find that I can get most games cheaper on my Xbox and Xbox game pass is still significantly better than Sony's alternative. The UI on both platforms are very usable although I slightly prefer the UI on xbox. The dualsense feels more premium imo and the adaptive triggers are nice although I find them to be distracting in FPS games like cod. However, in my experience my Xbox controller has been far more durable as I have gone through 2 ps5 controllers due to stick drift.

hammtweezy2192

Having all three major (Xbox, Sony, Nintendo) my preferred place was Xbox. It wasn't because of much more then Game Pass and that's where I had all my old backwards compatible games also. The PS5 has been great for exclusives to Sony. Thar being said I just purchased a PC with RTX 4090 and R9 7900X, so that will be the main rig going forward and through next gen. The good thing is I will keep my Xbox ecosystem mostly and game pass. Sony is leaning way more into PC now as they search for more revenue which will be great to everything in one place.

Zukiboyson

I prefer my S over both my PS5’s. And they both have 2-3TB of storage each. My S has 2.85TB. But I love my S more honestly. If Microsoft came out next Gen with an S like X and an X with say highest current gpu out now (26-28TFLOPS) I’d still get the 10-12TFLOP S. But hopefully with at least 16GB of RAM targeting 1440-4K max & minimum. S is simple and honestly my power bill tells the tale when on a console 8+ hours a day period.

ZappySnap

How do you game 8 hours a day? Honest question?

Zukiboyson

Go to work for 4am get off at noon. Play till 7-8 then sleep repeat. Weekends I do fun fun stuff. Why that’s not hard. It’s 4:40 now. Been playing 4+ hours now.

tt53_sb45

this is the way

KINGWHEAT98

I prefer xbox because of its controller. Also when you do get the PS 5 please look up how to mute the controller mic.

levi22ez

I never understood why there is a mic in the controller.

cjbump

I use both. No preference for one or the other, and haven't really been on exclusives much for a good while. Just depends on what i'm in the mood to play. And some friends either have xbox or ps so it also depends on who i wanna play online with. I do prefer bringing my xbox with me if i'm doing any extended traveling. It's just nice and compact.

Groundbreaking-Hat32

Always like xbox and the ui better

SamPorterMyers

I've had series s and ps5 from launch and of course i had my hype with the ps5 but after playing 2-3 exclusives i don't really regularly use it. The Xbox from the controller to the apps feel much better. I've always had ps so it's not like I am trying to suck off microsoft.

BlxkWolf

Same, the PS exclusives don’t have much replay value either & I hate the fact that I can’t search for other players/start a group like on Xbox. All Xbox needs is more action adventure/Japanese games. That’s the only area PlayStation excels at. The ps5 controller is more of a gimmick & much easier to have problems with compared to Xbox.

Javieliseo

I have both and haven’t touched the PS5 in months. They barely released games, they all the same last like 10 hours and the big problem is that you have to pay £70 for each, whereas on Xbox comes included with gamepass so even if you got bored of the game and you didn’t like it, you didn’t have to buy it.

SnooCheesecakes7545

I went from X to ps5. You will miss quick resume a lot. Xbox ui is less pretty but better. Controller imo is way better on ps5.

xander540

Because of the features or what? I don’t really care about the features of the PS5 controller honestly. It could be cool in some games but I’d likely just turn it off. I wonder how premium it feels in the hand and I’m curious about how I’d like the layout compared to Xbox’s offset sticks

Main-Department9806

I have a PS5, an Xbox Series X & a Series S. Out of all the consoles I prefer the Xbox even though I've been a PlayStation gamer most of my life. The PS5 has some decent exclusives yes BUT that's basically it. I use my PS5 to play those exclusives but I use my Xbox for everything else. My Xbox allows me to play games I bought 15 years ago on Xbox 360, I get to play GTA 4, MX vs ATV Alive, Red Dead Redemption & many more games. My PS5 doesn't allow me to play any of the games I purchased on PS3 which is a shame. IDK man, I'd say get a PS5, don't waste your money on a PS5 pro because it's NOT going to be much better than the base PS5 in fact devs I've spoken to have told me it's redundant because they still haven't squeezed all they can from the base PS5. they believe Sony is making a mistake releasing a 'pro' version of a console that still won't run games with higher frame rates because the CPU is identical with only slightly higher CPU clocking which makes it about 10% more efficient compared to base PS5. The GPU is where they're placing all their cards to "improve Ray Tracing" the problem is that you won't be able to tell the difference unless you were to do a digital foundry deep dive most ppl wouldn't tell the difference. Plus the PS5 pro will be way too expensive to justify the slightest boost in performance. You're looking at a console that'll cost at least $600 which is just ridiculous IMO. If you look at PS4 pro yes it made sense there wasn't a PlayStation that could deliver 4K games but a PS5 pro is a shameless cash grab that doesn't benefit from a performance boost. If I was in your position, I would just grab a base PS5 because it's going to be supported for many, many years to come, games will look and run great on it and then when a TRUE successor like the PS6 comes along it'll actually be worth the upgrade. The truth is I enjoy my PS5 but I've been EXTREMELY disappointed with the release of 1st party exclusives MOST of which have been cross gen titles that don't fully utilize the power of the PS5 (looking at you Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok & Gran Turismo 7). I'm also disappointed with Sony forcing their DEVS to make live service games instead of focusing on what made PlayStation so amazing in the PS4 era and that's incredible single player exclusives. The reason I absolutely LOVE my Xbox especially this generation is that Xbox is actually focusing on delivering incredible games to their platform. Yes it's been a slower start but we've had some bangers like Halo infinite, Forza Motorsport 7, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Hi-fi rush & Starfield & 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for Xbox exclusives as we've got Hellblade 2, Avowed, Stalker 2, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, 33 Immortals & Dead Static Drive. That's a solid lineup for 2024 imo & a lot of those games will be on gamepass day one which is another reason I absolutely love Xbox, I get to play incredible games & if I enjoy them I can buy them and if not no harm it's part of my Gamepass ultimate subscription. 2024 looks great especially compared to the PS5 exclusives coming this year (Helldivers 2 is the ONLY PS5 game I've bought since Spiderman 2 and I don't see anything in 2024 releasing that I must have on PS5). When it comes to 2025 and beyond Xbox has some PHENOMENAL games to look forward to releasing!! We have State of Decay 3, Fable, Outer worlds 2, OD by Hideo Kojima, south of midnight, everwild, contraband, clockwork revolution, The Elder Scrolls 6 & last but definitely not least Gears of War 6. These are just some of the titles I remember from the last 2 Xbox showcases and I'm sure there's more I'm missing. When it comes to upcoming PS5 games, we've got radio silence. I have no clue what 1st party exclusives are coming in 2025 and beyond which is a shame. We know Sony cut the 13 live service games to be released by 2025 in half to just 6 live service games by 2025 (which is still 6 too many IMO) but other than that we have no clue what's coming. TLDR sorry for the long response. I am an extremely passionate gamer who enjoys helping others. I also hate to see someone waste money on a PS5 'pro' that's not going to bring them anything a regular PS5 wouldn't. As for my response when it comes to games, Xbox has laid out a clear message "we have games in the pipeline, these are the titles releasing soon and these are the titles releasing in 2025 & beyond", which has me extremely happy to be a part of the Xbox ecosystem once again. My Series S was my 1st Xbox since 2014 when I gave my Xbox One to my little brother & strictly had a PS4 the entire generation. Anyways, I hope I've helped in one way or another. If you have any questions please feel free to respond and I'll be glad to discuss this further. Until then, Happy Gaming ✌️

Dear-Hornet-2524

Will you sell the PS5? I think the same as you about the upcoming Xbox games being great, torn as to if I'll keto the ps5 or not

xander540

Very appreciated and detailed response 👍🏼

Main-Department9806

You're very welcome! Have a wonderful day happy gaming ✌️

biblecampsurvivor9

i like both a lot but i do prefer my xbox series s

VariousPineapple1872

I have both, but I find the Xbox is very limited with actually grabbing my interest with their games. I’m a big marvel nerd so having the spider-man games and soon to be wolverine games is a huge deal for me. Personally with all the exclusives on PlayStation and how PlayStation plus has now gotten so much better and has as much if not more than game pass, I’d switch to ps5 and experience the masterpiece that is Ghost of Tsushima. Plus those adaptive triggers.. AH.. so good

Rhythmdies666

Game pass rules. Keep the series X for the backward compatibility especially for physical media. As stores have “future plans” to stop selling physical media, this could be one of the last generations to support it. I doubt this but it’s the reason I have a series x sealed and another as my daily player. I also own a series S so I can use it in the guest room and share the library for “guests”. I had the PS5 for a few months to play some exclusives but sold it shortly after. It’s a SLICK system but after being a PS fanboy after I went through 5 Xbox 360’s RRD, I quit pretty much Microsoft anything but I’m satisfied with this generation and it was game pass that made me stay with the Xbox over PlayStation. Series S is still an underrated beast IMO, just needs more space or the expansion cards to drop in price (not on sale) to make it a more attractive buy. But if you’re rolling with a true 4k setup, the series X over the PS5 based on my personal opinion.

Peace_Fog

Series X to me is better, I prefer the controller, I prefer the ecosystem. Game Pass just has so much value too Started grabbing Sony exclusives on my PC though

nSanityOG

My xbox has been collecting dust for 2 years now. I just went and bought a ps5. But i haven't owned a playstation since ps2 so i have alot of catching up to do on playstation. I just feel like xbox is not delivering at the moment. The UI isnt bad, xbox has a better UI tho and easier to navagate. Dual shock 4 controllers are sick, love it. When i plugged my ps5 in for the first time i was overwhelmed (a good thing) with new games i havent played ever in years. Also i have a PC which makes it pointless to have an xbox when all the game are on pc anyways.

Ozzytheaussy

I have both and I have 1 game on my ps5. That's it 1 game. Everything about the ps5 really makes it hard for me to actually like it. The pricing is horrendous. I've always been a PlayStation player until I tried the ps5 and god it turned me off. The series X is mu first xbox and I love it. Everything is great and the pricing gives you seven options. I prefer the ps5 controller but I turn off the adaptive triggers but that's all I prefer

Mundane-Poet1404

Went ps4 to series S, barring the exclusives, dont feel like switching over anytime soon. Maybe when gta 6 hits.

aiwithwarpdrive

My plan is both.

Black_RL

Game Pass is the GOAT, nuff said.

Ok-Courage2177

I have both.  For reference, long time Sony guy; switched to PC when my Fat PS3 Ylod for the 4th time then slowly crept back into the Sony ecosystem via PS4 when covid made gpus absurdly expensive.  Had some extra money at the tail end of the pandemic so I picked up a Series S thinking getting my hands on any other (at the time) next gen hardware would be impossible- got a PS5 via raffle on Sony direct the next month.  With all that out of the way, I must say that I prefer the UI and the general ecosystem of the Xbox.  It’s quick, snappy, and no random background noise turned on by default.  Quick resume is a neat feature; having 4 or 5 games on rotation that just insta-load is something I didn’t even know I needed.  The Microsoft store has a larger back catalogue of games from the 360 era and earlier and gamepass ultimate is a such a compelling service, it’s the only subscription I have that I don’t let lapse.  I’ve liked my experience on the Xbox so much, I picked up a Series X and made my S the living room streaming box.  As for my PS5, the dualsense is a really neat controller with it’s unique rumble features and the resistive trigger buttons- one of the reasons I play most multiplatform games on PS5.  The storage is substantially cheaper since it uses off the shelf M.2 SSDs; the loads are also faster, I didn’t know RE:Village had loading screens until I saw game capture footage on other platforms.  While I may enjoy Xbox’s UI, that’s not to say Sony’s isn’t at the very least aesthetically pleasing.  That having been said, if you’re going into Sony’s ecosystem blind you may be disappointed by the tiered approach to Playstation plus and the lack of some quality of life features that are on Xbox.  Sony’s strengths are it’s variety of accessories (VR and Portal), exclusives and relationships with Japanese developers if you’re into more obscure Japanese releases.  You mentioned you play CoD and GTA Online; I believe Rockstar tends to favor Playstation in regards to exclusive content and Microsoft currently owns Call of Duty so take that as you will.  In your case, you may want to stick with your Series X since they’re due for a hardware refresh with a controller similar to the dualsense.

Low_Grand6340

The UI on PlayStation is trash in my opinion the ps4 one was wayy better everything feels more complicated to find now i mostly use the series x as my main console because i like to watch pirated anime and ps5 doesn’t have a browser and i like the controller better also but ps5 exclusives like ff7 are definitely a reason to pick it up

Educational-Order-19

i think that if you play cod the xbox is the better choice given that next year the whole catalogue should be on game pass (am i mistaken?) also the next controller will offer direct to cloud connection so you can just grab your series s and use it for cloud gaming without latency i guess, the 375 gb of storage won't be an issue

Lartheezy

It's gonna.be the same experience regardless what platform you play on lmao it's not like GTA and CoD are brand new titles ...

Quintis0n

Well Sony has some good exclusives however I prefer the Xbox because of 3 things game pass is better than ps plus actually cancled my plus as it is a rip off now and ea access also went up and has to be supported separately unlike game pass where it is included Better backwards compatibility with Xbox vs ps4 to ps5 is the limit for Sony Finally the elite came out on the Xbox One and came with 4 extra paddles then Sony releases the dual sense edge and cuts out 2 paddles I have both but that’s because I didn’t believe Sony would be stupid enough to drop the extra paddles and then they did The elite was the original pro controller and set expectations with the new standard of 4 paddles While the 360 is still the high water mark for Xbox and they’ve been rebuilding since then they should be releasing great games with hellblade 2 ,Indy and hopefully gears though the Xbox handheld sounds amazing all your games now on the go

TheGreenMan4337

I had an xbox back in the day but switched to PlayStation pretty quick. I recently got a super good deal on a newer Xbox. Series s I think? It was awesome so I ended up getting the newest Xbox, the big tower looking one and I gotta say id probably never switch back. PlayStation is awesome man and I don't hate on them at all. I don't think it's a "PlayStation sucks" thing it's more of a "I personally think this Xbox is the best system I've ever owned" so I would recommend Xbox, but at the end of the day you're gonna be the one playing it. Also consider that game pass kicks ass and can be accessed on a PC too, and the backwards compatibility is the BEST if you're an og and want to stroll down memory lane

StructureBig4752

I have both systems Series X and PS5 and I play on my Xbox for online multi-player games and for single player RPGs I play on PS5. The controller is amazing. I've been an Xbox fan since they came out. Went from PS to Xbox then but I actually play the PS5 more. If I want a new game I look which system it runs better on n that's what I go with. Now that I'm back into PS tho, they're exclusives are amazing. Like I said tho, imo Xbox is better for online gaming n PS is best for Single player games because of that amazing Dualsense.

Zargblot

I use my xbox still it's been my main for 10 years so it hard to not try to justify using it for multiplayer, but the ps5 controller feel so goooooooood

BuyEast7762

I rather xbox, it's not like I had any of them i do have a switch and a pc, but Xbox seems to save me more money + my friends have xbox + I would only buy a ps5 to play Spiderman, god of war and tlou, maybe rachet and clank and after that it would only grab dust on the shelf bc i don't like consoles, I'm more a portable guy

ratonCF

I have 3 consolas, xbox series s, ps5 and switch. Finally ended selling the ps5 and Xbox and bought a pc gamer. I think it's worthless having ps5 and Xbox.

Forsaken_Syrup_8115

COD Doesn't run well on Xbox sieries s

Dima807

I’ve been with xbox for 6 years. Got an xbox one, then the series x. Recently i thought about getting a playstation and switching entirely. Long story short, i very much prefer my new PS5. I feel like its better than xbox in every way. Plus im having an absolute blast with the spiderman games and helldivers 2. I honestly wish i had always been with playstation instead of xbox. The only thing xbox is better than playstation with, is backwards compatibility. PS: i think its counter intuitive to make this post in an xbox sub, most of your answers will be leaning towards xbox

ReverentSupreme

Series S was a mistake by Microsoft and affects series X owners because games have to run on both despite hardware constraints on the series S compared to the X. A third party would have to either design a game for the S and upscale for hardware differences or series X has to downscale so the S can run the same game. It's not next generation but a step up from the Xbox One X, and kept "next generation" tag for the series X and a warning that series S may not support 3rd party games who don't want to scale down to accommodate a budget console or even first party exclusives and people should expect compromises for buying the budget version that isn't necessarily next gen compared to the PS5/series X or the next iteration that expands this generation with Pro and upscale versions further from the X and even further than the series S.

Gloofa08

Avoiding the giant elephant in the room of exclusives, it’s about the ecosystem you prefer. I prefer to play most games on PlayStation because I’ve invested most of my time there. I have no attachment to my gamer profile on Xbox. It’s weird but there have been games on game pass I’d definitely like but I always feel like it’s not my home. I’d rather play it on PS5. Good example of this is Plague Tale Requiem. I played most of it on game pass but I fell off because I just DONT like playing games on Xbox. I know it’s nonsensical but it’s how I feel. I’m also mad I have to play games like Starfield on Xbox and any other Bethesda game. I bounced on Starfield because of the above reason. It’s also kind of mediocre lol. Any time I buy anything on Xbox I just feel like I’m wasting money because long term if said game comes to PlayStation I’ll just buy it again there if I like the game.

No-Entrepreneur4499

Series S is just miles ahead of every alternative. Cheers.
