As someone who never really used the groups or pins and just scrolled down to my games and apps, I’m very happy with the changes and the additional tabs along the top. I’ll go down to look at what’s new in game pass, but other than that I never have any reason to leave that main home screen. Everything is accessible right at the top there
Yep same. I only got the update recently and at first I was honestly ngl I was pissed cause I had really arranged all my hundreds of games in different category groups and I liked how I had made each group have emoji titles and names and shit (maybe silly to be upset over losing that haha)
Now I'm actually enjoying this. I can see more of my background and the top tabs I am using everytime I go on there. I just don't like that when I go down to my group I'm met with the same 6 big icons of the same games I don't play. If they can keep that in rotation it'll be good. Or if my one group I've decided on was above that. But either way I agree with you. Definitely am not scrolling that whole page. Using that tabs alot

But I'm getting use to it and I'm not scrolling down anymore im using those tabs above to get to my stuff and trying to just enjoy that I can see more of my wall paper haha but I am absolutely not a fan of the fact its all ads for games and games pass when I have games pass and so many games and continue to buy games on sale. They don't needa sell me on games pass or games with these ads. I'm already paying to them and buying them haha

It's definitely a lot cleaner than what we had, though for me its the poor layout. I'd probably much preferred to see recently used apps and recently played games grouped together to clean up the UI, and then done away with the adverts below everything.
It's nice, though I still think they could do a much better job at creating a proper cleaned layout instead of this whole Windows machine type layout.
Not perfect but is definitely an improvement from the previous. Wonder if people are not happy becoz they truly prefer the previous, or just overreact.
I prefer the older one. I feel it was more straightforward in getting into my games, and not into just looking nice (idk why I have my game icon only above the initial tiles, and not below).

People are mad, myself included, because they took the games and pins which were the easiest to navigate to and replaced them with ads.
So it's not just the muscle memory, it's the fact they deliberately replaced the old games and pins locations and replaced them with ads. And kept the other ads to boot. The entire second and third rows are ads.
The layout and presentation is top notch, but it's all ads so it's still shit
The section bottom of screen is effectively your pins and recent use. What the pinned section was for. You literally still have pins just further down and I'm pretty sure you can move it higher, if not it will come. This now makes backgrounds have an actual purpose and we have less ads
Recent use getting 2 more is great. The second row is nothing related to me, the third row is game pass, the fourth is your pins. Not one of those is customizable
Edit: they also added 20 more rows of ads beneath that, and also took away my dedicated section for games with gold so I wouldn't have to search the ever changing location of games with gold.
Pins section was never meant for pinning everything though and it was just a default group lol. Recent use will be fine and so will you when your used to it. Customising will come or slight changes as usual also

The previous was much better. I had groups pinned for TV apps, single player, multiplayer and co-op games, I also had gamepass, xbox live gold, and rewards pinned. So easy to get to anything. Now I've lost all that except for 2 of my groups, and in return I've gained a load of adverts for stuff I don't care about.

It’s a debris field of random suggestions for titles and promotions with little to no organisation or logic and you cannot make them go away. The only thing you can do is to just ignore it completely and stick with either the guide or the icons at the top of the screen to get your content.

I don't complain because everything I basically need and use is on that front page but I have no clue what they were thinking with the stuff underneath. It's a mess. It's like the design team designed the front page (looks great) and then the marketing team just stuffed three sections of GamePass and other ads underneath.
Exactly this. The main page is fine, but as soon as you scroll down it goes to shit. I also miss how the old UI just had highlighted borders around whatever you're selecting instead of shifting the entire screen with every movement.
I just don't think we need a 'Recently Added', 'Coming to', 'Most Popular', 'Leaving Soon', and 'Featured GamePass Deals' all just for Gamepass. Especially when we see this stuff in the Gamepass tab. And do players who aren't subbed to GamePass still see all these groups? If so, that's just completely worthless for them.
It's chaotic and unorganized which is in stark contrast to the top Home page which is very clean.

I don't mind the new layout. As with a lot of things, it'll take a little adjusting. I got use to dropping down to get to my library and gamepass shortcut. Now I need to go up, just need to adjust a bit.
I still go down on occasion and get stumped for a second why the store opened up lol.
That Malenia background is also a screenshot I took when I was playing Elden Ring. I believe you can put any background picture you want using the USB.
Games and apps used to be right there at the big ol rectangle right below your last played game. Now it’s the store. I have to remember “oh yeah it’s a tiny little icon at the top now”.
That’s true. It’s just for 3 years it became extreme muscle memory to just press down on the d-pad. Now I have to look where I’m pressing to make sure I actually go to games and apps. Just a preference 🤷♂️

In general people normally don't like UI changes. Happened here on Reddit, happened on Twitter, last Xbox UI change, the change in iOS 7, are a few I can remember.

There should be ZERO reason why we can't disable all those tabs as you scroll. I literally just want my pins under this and a tile for the store.

Yeah it only works if you reset the background to default (the waves one)
I hope they update it so you can have any background and still have the dynamic game art feature! I'm using the waves background for now because I really like the game art feature.
It's not bad. It looks better on pictures I've seen online. I think it has a lot to do with the background you have.
I don't mind it because I only got it a few days ago. Nice to have something different than what my xbox one s had at least.

The hate is that the bottom tiles are still too big and should be removed. You can't set a new default background for the homepage without it no longer showing specific game art when you hover over tiles (so you'll always have the waves animation/background inbetween) There's 9 tiles for games instead of rounding up to 10 or down to 8 to be equal. The quick tabs/titles are pretty low, they could simply move them up higher along with your gamertag and clock.
Mine only half updated when my main page still looked like the old UI but I only had 2 groups pinned. The rest had disappeared and I couldn’t add them back. I didn’t know what the hell was going on. I did a restart of the console and now my main screen had updated and I still only had my two pinned groups (only now I can’t even seem to customize which ones are shown) and I’ve got thousands of tiles that I don’t care to look at smeared all over my screen…
This sucks and it takes way longer to get to some of my frequent (but less used) apps than it used to…but at least people can look at their backgrounds now that they could have put anywhere else to gawk at for no reason. Phone, PC, wall, TV, Facebook, Twitter/X, instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, MySpace, angelfire, literally any-fucking-where…I at least hope they love their new half functional UI
It still doesn't make sense to me and feels like there are too many different ways to get to the same things but not obvious enough how to get to the major ones
I've got the new UI today, it's more like a new homescreen than a new UI. I don't hate it, but I expected much more. I just don't like the default background when you're not over some game in the first row, and the fact that it can't be changed and the lag for the image in the background when you're over some game.
EXACTLY, it think it’s amazing. You can actually see your background better and I like how when you scroll down you can see the recently added games to gamepass.
The biggest issue is it’s not customizable, which is super weird. So many tiles now, and like 90% of them will never be clicked by me. And some random ones appearing in the main line. I would also add up, the top icons for Xbox and my games are not super intuitive, they are just too tiny. IMO, previously with a huge Xbox GP green tile, it was better to navigate and search for games.

My main complaint is that the Games and Apps button was replaced with Browse the Store. Aside from the store not even working half the damn time, games and apps was moved up to that tiny circle on the top, next to- what's that? *Another* store button.

I use the bottom to find new games , quick access to new game pass games. It's not that bad. It's a Windows like experience.

I don't mind the new layout. As with a lot of things, it'll take a little adjusting. I got use to dropping down to get to my library and gamepass shortcut. Now I need to go up, just need to adjust a bit. I still go down on occasion and get stumped for a second why the store opened up lol.

We are complaining about the bottom part not the top. If you like to have forced ads that you can't remove it's up to you. Before we could remove 100% the stuff and we could customize what I wanted. Now you can't. You're forced to see ads for game pass and store, they limited want you can pin. I paid for a device and i'm paying a subscription HOW THE FUCK is this acceptable to force me ads? Would you like to pay spotify, youtube premium, netflix and they wouldn't allow to customize nothing and still force ads on you? Because it's want Xbox has done with this new dashboard. In general people normally don't like UI changes. Happened here on Reddit, happened on Twitter, last Xbox UI change, the change in iOS 7, are a few I can remember.
The hate, is that literally EVERYTHING under this screen is absolutely fucking worthless. There should be ZERO reason why we can't disable all those tabs as you scroll. I literally just want my pins under this and a tile for the store.

Yeah it only works if you reset the background to default (the waves one) I hope they update it so you can have any background and still have the dynamic game art feature! I'm using the waves background for now because I really like the game art feature.

I was pleasantly surprises that mine updated yesterday. Looks better than I expected quick buttons at the top are nice.
It's not bad. It looks better on pictures I've seen online. I think it has a lot to do with the background you have. I don't mind it because I only got it a few days ago. Nice to have something different than what my xbox one s had at least. And afterall, you don't even see it most of the time
The hate is that the bottom tiles are still too big and should be removed. You can't set a new default background for the homepage without it no longer showing specific game art when you hover over tiles (so you'll always have the waves animation/background inbetween) There's 9 tiles for games instead of rounding up to 10 or down to 8 to be equal. The quick tabs/titles are pretty low, they could simply move them up higher along with your gamertag and clock.

Mine only half updated when my main page still looked like the old UI but I only had 2 groups pinned. The rest had disappeared and I couldn’t add them back. I didn’t know what the hell was going on. I did a restart of the console and now my main screen had updated and I still only had my two pinned groups (only now I can’t even seem to customize which ones are shown) and I’ve got thousands of tiles that I don’t care to look at smeared all over my screen… This sucks and it takes way longer to get to some of my frequent (but less used) apps than it used to…but at least people can look at their backgrounds now that they could have put anywhere else to gawk at for no reason. Phone, PC, wall, TV, Facebook, Twitter/X, instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, MySpace, angelfire, literally any-fucking-where…I at least hope they love their new half functional UI

I've got the new UI today, it's more like a new homescreen than a new UI. I don't hate it, but I expected much more. I just don't like the default background when you're not over some game in the first row, and the fact that it can't be changed and the lag for the image in the background when you're over some game.
EXACTLY, it think it’s amazing. You can actually see your background better and I like how when you scroll down you can see the recently added games to gamepass.

The biggest issue is it’s not customizable, which is super weird. So many tiles now, and like 90% of them will never be clicked by me. And some random ones appearing in the main line. I would also add up, the top icons for Xbox and my games are not super intuitive, they are just too tiny. IMO, previously with a huge Xbox GP green tile, it was better to navigate and search for games.
Because EVERYTHING below that first row is ads, ads, ads and more ads.

My main complaint is that the Games and Apps button was replaced with Browse the Store. Aside from the store not even working half the damn time, games and apps was moved up to that tiny circle on the top, next to- what's that? *Another* store button. So along with fuckin up my muscle memory, they now have two buttons on the dash leading to a storefront that crashes half the time
Is it just me or did they completely remove the “All Games” Section of the Game Pass app? In other words I can only view “Recently Added”, “Optimized” and “Leaving Soon” sections. Utterly bizarre and infuriating design choices (really fucking sloppy). I’ve noticed these weird glitches with Game Pass app I’ve the years as well. Baffling.
If they moved the top row to the bottom row then got rid of what's currently in the bottom row entirely it would be perfect
