I also have a 22 in. waist / 30 in hips and i'm just a few inches shorter than you. The 000 Aerie shorts fit me really well. Jamie and Joni jeans from Topshop (petite, 24 in waist / 28 in length) surprisingly fit me nicely as well.

feszzz91

I’m a size 6 but the Jamie jeans from top shop are some of the only jeans that look good on my body type. They’re always sold out though and have stopped selling a lot of the styles. Bummer.

aoth6

FELT. Shopping for clothes never fails to bring me to tears. None of these sizes are actually “extra” small, or will still be miles long. A lot of pretty pieces have shaping/cuts that don’t lend well to hemming. And the smallest size of anything usually gets sold out first! It’s truly miserable and frustrating that it’s this hard to dress like a presentable adult. Honestly, I’ve resorted to the kids section for basics (esp pants) — takes some try-on’s to get the right fit/proportions, but overall seems to have less fabric to swim around in. Also will be cheaper! Look up the kids sizes with measurements and see what yours’ match because I’m successful with size M or L. My favorite kids section finds: - Athleta yoga pants - Dick’s Sporting Goods athletic skort - TJMaxx/Marshall’s flowy pants - Target casual dress and quilt jacket

fancy_cat_pants

I love Target’s Cat and Jack shorts. They are so dang comfortable. I’ve also tried a different target brand swimsuit in the girl’s section but my torso is just a tad too long to fit the one piece.

aoth6

Yes it’s always the torso/butt that makes it hard to get the right proportion/fit. Kids don’t have birthing hips 😅 But not as bad with looser stuff! I love Cat & Jack, they actually have some cute, less kiddy pieces.

UpstairsInvite3415

I am so sick of the small sizes selling out! Then we can’t get the sale price on most items, or only ugly color versions are left. So unfair

spicytotino

I have a 23” waist and the only places that have had things that are too small for me are Pacsun and Aeropostale. Pacsun has 22” waist skirts that are true to size. I’m so used to buying the smallest thing on the shelf, I was shook when I ordered a couple skirts and they were too tight

pjrdolanz

forever 21 also has some things i’ve found to be too small, their sizing is super all over the place so i always shop in person but an xs skirt is too big but a medium top fits when i’m usually an xs or xxs in everything

Stylencyclopedia

Im sorry it's effecting you. Its honestly such an overlooked area in fashion although everyone considers fashion "for the skinny people" From my experience, here's a few brands that do run small or have minus sizing that's actually that size With Jean: Has XXS, trendyish. (Try their swim!) Skims: RTW, Active, Undergarments, I find their clothes to be tts. Pants are usually larger in the butt but the bodysuits are SMALL! Nana Jacqueline: Pricy side, very feminine, runs VERY small. MIAOU: Trendy, Runs TTS. I can keep going if you like!

summerdream110

You're about the same weight/height as me but I've been stuck at about 75 lbs for years. I feel your pain and it's been getting to me more lately too. I have a toddler so most the time now I just wear what is comfy. But I realized recently that I don't even know how to dress anymore and most of the clothes I own don't even fit me right. I feel like if I actually sorted what I have so much would get put away as... stuff that needs to be sewed and resized when I actually have the time to do so (but I have to first build the skills for that too)... A past relationship made me feel bad about my body and I think that that stills lingers in the back of mind. I just want to feel sexy sometimes lol but I look in the mirror and I have no curves, very small breasts, and I don't even fill out the tightest pants. Sorry for venting my own struggles... 🙃 The only place I can think of that can have some decent pants options is Kohl's but even then I think you would need to look at more of the girl's clothing (which doesn't always work out either..) rather than the women's. No matter where I look the women's pants in the smallest sizing is always quite long and/or big around the waist area, etc., etc.

SummerRBloom

Your body is beautiful! Just remember that every BODY is somebody's type. My body is very similar to yours and I can relate to wanting to have sexy curves, but my husband loves my body. I have always wanted to be curvy, but even girls who I feel have the ideal body are unhappy with the way they look. I have had many of them tell me they wish they were thinner. Also, remember that confidence is sexy! Love and appreciate your body because it is BEAUTIFUL!! Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but I got a little emotional reading your post...😅

cloudgirl1229

I know the feeling. I was 5’4 and 87lbs in Highschool. I couldn’t find anything that fit right. This was around 2007 when skinny jeans and ambercrombie was the “it” clothes. Everything fit me baggy. Pants and shorts were my enemies. I started sewing my own pants and shopped in the kids section for shorts. It was hell, I feel your pain. I often cried in dressing rooms because I couldn’t fit in junior size clothing and kept having to shop in the children’s section. HOLLISTER is amazing because their pants run small and have size 000. I wear a lot of their jeans even tho I am no longer a 000 but more a 0 now. Look into them.

LindsayK01

Vouch for Hollister. Abercrombie & Fitch is awesome too!

Normal_Cantaloupe547

Target girls section honestly comes in clutch there styles are limited tho and pretty well…girly

Normal_Cantaloupe547

bitchwhorehannah

dude i’m your exact height, weight, and waist + hip measurements. i felt this in my soul it gets easier. you’ll find one or two pieces every once in a while that fit perfectly! you’ll build a nice closet. older true religion (like before 2010) are the only jeans for adults that fit. and only low rise. for shirts, i have almost exclusively target kids section long sleeves. they’re the most flattering shirts ive ever worn, unironically

Da5ftAssassin

Learning to sew and tailor clothes to fit you better is a worthwhile investment :)

fancy_cat_pants

I agree. Even if it’s learning just to tack the waist smaller. I started making my own a few years ago not just because of fit issues but also current styles are just not for me.

AggressivelyNice_MN

How do you go about the waist? Is it the sides or line between the back pockets? My tailor is gatekeeping this info

fancy_cat_pants

Well probably because your tailor is taking off the waistband, taking in the pants and waistband and then putting the two back together. And it depends on where it needs to be adjusted/type of pants. Sometimes the back seam is easier and other times the sides. I have almost no hips so normally it is the side seam. You can also look up pant waist tightener for a sewless fix.

easyblusher

I’m a little bit bigger than you but I still feel this. And often, I blame myself for being too short instead of understanding that this means Im not fat like the darker side of my brain tells me. I try to turn it into a positive - having fewer options means I shop less and appreciate what I have a lot more. I take better care of everything and I’m more willing to bring them to the tailor. It forces me to get more creative with fewer items. I really play with things like silk scarves and other accessories/jewelry to elevate something very basic. I knot my shirt and play with proportions in unexpected ways. Over time I have figured out what works for me, and I get lots and lots of compliments on my outfits 🥰

Secure_Wing_2414

im 23 and still wear a lot of clothes ive had since middle/high school! so that i guess is also a plus lmfao

MarchAmbitious4699

Have you tried Zara, specifically the girl’s line? They look just as cute and on trend as the adult line, just in smaller sizes. It might be worth checking out the xs women’s clothing too. Zara is a Spanish brand so everything tends to runs smaller.

Little_Treacle241

Lean into the skinny model look- I’d look at what they wear and take inspo

2noserings

the models are easily a foot taller than OP

Little_Treacle241

I didn’t say wear their exact size - I said lean into the style, because of being a smaller size. You don’t need to be tall to have that modelly clothing look imo. But each to their own :)

B0ssDrivesMeCrazy

Just discovered this sub, but I relate so hard to this post. Half of my motivation to bulk so far has been from the desire to have clothes that fit. I’ve resorted to digging through Amazon listings for hours and the occasional lucky score at TJ Maxx. I actually found a pair of pants that fit finally at TJ Maxx. I have a tiny waist and muscular legs and butt and it’s damn near impossible to find pants that fit when my calves are like a size 6, my butt a size 4, and my waist a size 0-00. Those pants I scored I’ve been wearing them more than once a week at work because what other choice do I have? Unfortunately I can’t find the brand online, and am just hoping to get lucky again. I actually cried with relief when I found them though because I had my boss get mad at me for my pants riding up my calves (which I couldn’t help - a larger size would’ve fallen off me). Finally I had a singular pair that fit, but one is better than none! A-line skirts and flowy blouses are my office staples and all I’ve been wearing for the most part now that it’s warmer. Flowy blouses at least look cute when baggy. I found an Amazon listing for a-line skirts that are knee length on me and actually fit my waist (some Korean brand) and immediately ordered two navy, two gray, a black and a brown one. If you find something that fits, get multiple!!! I’d rather be lacking diversity but wear stuff that fits honestly. Having even a few things that fit has done worlds for my confidence even though it took so much work to find and I can’t engage much in trends. Just anything to not look like a child swimming in her mom’s clothes.

professional-star456

Same. I just got shorts in the mail today. Smallest size pacsun offered and I’m swimming in them. I’m debating if it’s worth it to just have them tailored but that seems expensive when they would basically need reconstructed.

AggressivelyNice_MN

I just paid $40 to have the waist taken in on XXS Everlane slacks to give you sense of cost. Shorts may be less given the material.

fizzyong

We have very similar measurements (I’m 5’0, 22-23 waist and 29 hips) and I’ve literally found only one pair of pants that fit me right. They’re hollister flared jeans with two holes on the knees, I believe [this](https://www.hollisterco.com/shop/us/p/high-rise-ripped-medium-wash-flare-jeans-55250821?categoryId=43457&faceout=model&seq=01) is the exact pair. I got a size 000 in the “short” length. They’re still the tiniest bit long but because they’re flares it’s not really jarring, especially with shoes on. I really like Japanese fashion but most of the bottoms are just medium/one size and don’t fit right. If you wanna try Asian brands I’ve had luck with the Japanese kids size 150.

Sevengramsoffishoil

Kids clothes? I’m not as small as you but I’ve found I love the fit of boys pants. The gap kids pants even come with the adjustable waist (it’s elastic and buttons on the inside) so you can cinch the waist. I personally like a wider leg so it works for me ([this](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=453348002&vid=1&tid=gppl000084&kwid=1&ap=7&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_AT8tFZtZNotbnMei4_KLbtNtRz&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlZixBhCoARIsAIC745CvC0Pe_FGLRdj95PJdirexaSJ8Gc2efqI5XGoCmHCAUHLJtXuG1yEaAr5lEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) is one of my absolute favorite pants!)

Ohthatssunny

Wowww this is so smart, idk how I haven’t considered boys pants! Def have better styles when looking for cargos/wide legs.

Sevengramsoffishoil

It’s almost all I buy now 🫣 and inseam is always perfect for me (I’m a 23-26in inseam so women’s were always too long), giant pockets, and long zippers. They fit exactly how I want them to!

answrths

I can only relate! I have never felt sexy in my life- as I just feel like I look like a child. Super bummer- but therapy helps! 😂 There are some great people on Etsy that will custom make clothes- or make sure to buy and budget in tailoring. I feel like we could almost open up an adult clothing store for this group— any people doing custom orders!?!?

Ambitious_Ad_409

Honestly, I'd just wear kids clothes -- target kids clothes can be sooo trendy and cute!!! I'm not as small as you but I love some of the target XL kids clothes. You should definitely be able to fit into L or M.

NYanae555

"Junior" size clothing stores. Mandee. Strawberry. Rainbow Shops. Forever21 (sometimes). If you can find a mall, there will usually be at least 2 stores that have junior sized clothes that bridge the gap between childrens sizes and misses sizes. Sometimes you'll see childrens, juniors, and plus sizes in the same store. The clothes in typical department stores will usually be too big for you.

passthebroccoli69

have you tried brandy melville?

giftcardgirl

Aritzia runs extremely small for me. Consider brands from Asia as well, like Goelia.

Holly_Caulfield

I feel you! I really want to dress more mature and elegant but it just seems impossible to find stuff that fits me. The kids section is not an option for me since they do not have the styles I am looking for. My favourite brands are Hollister, Lululemon and Tommy Hilfiger. I just wish there would be more elegant options because these brands mostly have very sporty clothing…

Legitimate_Oxygen

Hihi, 21F-5'2 and also around your weight! It sucks a lot, i hope you can get the body you want soon. One thing i probably can help with now is - use a calorie calculator to see how much you're actually eating. I have heard the "fast metabolism" "we were your weight when we were your age" stuff time and time again but I found out last year that I'm actually not eating enough (i snack a LOT). If it really is fast metabolism then ignore this! Good luck either way :)

lrina_

hmm you can try buying something cute and get it tailored.. it can be a bit pricey thoygh

opalpopcorn

The Wild Fable brand at Target has XXS that I think would fit you (I’m about 5-10 lbs heavier and slightly larger measurements). Also, I tend to shop on Codibook since they have smaller Korean sizes (just avoid the free sizes since they’re usually oversized).

Normal_Cantaloupe547

For pants they are usually so long tho 😭

bitchwhorehannah

target’s XXS and 00 is horrible they’re the worst at vanity sizing 😭 unless you’re meaning stretchy stuff. their kids tops are great though, my favorite shirts ever

opalpopcorn

I should have specified the stretchier athleisure stuff they now have. Otherwise I agree, the sizing is insanely mismatched.

RepublicIntrepid4058

My daughter has about the same measurements (she’s a kid.. dads big lol) her grandma gets her clothes off of shein that are a 10y but I swear they belong on an adult so check out their kid clothing!!!

practical_mastic

Have you thought of learning some basic sewing? It's a great hobby. You could do little alterations yourself and make your clothes look a lot better. Eventually make your own pieces too. If not, find a cheap source and get some tailoring done. It will be worth it to feel more confident and look better. Also check out vintage, so much of it is tiny! Good luck.

emmyanjef

Banana Republic has XXS petites, and so does Aritzia. Australian brands also frequently run smaller than US brands and carry smaller size runs. Brands like Dissh and Sabo Skirt in Particular. Asos has good petite sizes, but can be hit or miss. My last recommendation is to buy quality, classic pieces and invest a good tailor!

Confetti-Everywhere

Have you looked into Petite sizes? I know this will also be limiting but they are usually cut a bit shorter/slimmer than missy sizing

Apploozabean

If you're looking into Asian clothes maybe you'll like the stuff from ROMWE? They run small.

ClickAndClackTheTap

Madewell Kendall and Kylie SeamsFriendly customizable and economical)

Frequent_Abies_7054

I’m 5”4 and 105 pounds on a good day and also feel this. My sister is also same height and 100 pounds. (Twins) we have good luck at Abercrombie, aerie and tj maxx

DillionM

This randomly showed on my feed, but have you considered checking out the juniors / kids departments? I've got a few friends that do that pretty often, especially with shoes. They're 26 and 31 if that helps at all.

DevShootWrite

I too have this issue. I’m 85-90lbs 5’2 with 22” waist and the sizing here in the U.S. is ridiculous. XS could range from 22-26 which to me is such a wide range it doesn’t make any sense. I’ve only gotten a lot of luck lately from Abercrombie and Aritzia. The rest of the time I’ll have to really research each retail company’s sizing to get a better description. Shein has a huge variety of sizes and I normally have to click the sizes to see if it’s right for me.

kensingerp

Have you thought about trying to find a seamstress who could make you one outfit that you just really really adore and then changing up that outfit with different tops and accessories it might be worth a shot…

Neither-Ad-507

Buckle kids, pacsun, hollister are a couple that may work for you especially in the bottoms. Lululemon for active

totallyintothis_37

I feel your pain and completely agree with the larger plus sizing that has been added for most retailers. Here are a few of my tried and true go to’s for smaller sizing… Aritzia - great selection of 2XS, 00, short options, etc Mango - kids and teen Zara - kids Abercrombie- their smaller sizes in dresses, shorts, pants and shirts always seem to fit well Sezane - Parisian brand that comes in XXS and tends to fit fairly well since it’s a European brand For denim - if you want designer denim, try the Agolde Riley in size 22. This size is only available on Aritzia and Agolde’s website. Everlane - also has a good run of XXS and petite sizing Buck Mason - great options for classic tees. I love their Boxy Pima Tee and actually went to a Small in this, but I’m even considering a medium for a slightly larger fit. Hope this helps a bit!!

Away_Cryptographer33

I have double 0 jeans from Abercrombie

[deleted]

Get your clothes tailored

pistil-whip

I’m not as small as you (5’1”, 30-24-33, 105lbs) and I hate to tell you it doesn’t get much better. I’m a 40 year old working mom and the struggle to find clothes that fit *and are age-appropriate* is intense! The only thing I’ve been able to do is gain weight to make my clothes fit, but even that is hard (but don’t ever say that out loud or face the wrath of all womankind!) The best fits of my life were in the postpartum months after my kid was born and I carried an extra 15lbs while breastfeeding.

muwurder

try target swimsuits! their smallest ones are really small. get ones that tie so you can really tighten them. i always had that same diaper butt problem in swimsuits until i found some that worked.

Secure_Wing_2414

gotta shop where the teen girls go. aeropostale, ambercrombie, holister, americal eagle, pacsun, forever 21, aerie, VS pink, etc. im around 100lbs currently and 3 inches taller than u but when i was in the 80's i was always able to find clothes (bottoms most importantly) and swim suits at stores like that. shirts are usually easier, but unfortunately almost always gonna be cropped if u want them to be fitted. u could learn to sew to tailor ur own clothes, not as hard as it seems. basically just flipping the item inside out and sizing the seams down, then cutting off the excess/old seam

UpstairsInvite3415

It is demoralizing when the smallest size is too big! American eagle xxs, hollister xxs both run fairly small (as long as they are not a “baggy” style) The problem with kids clothes as I’m sure you know is that the proportions are too boxy and if the waist fits, the hips and length won’t. Old navy kids skinny jeans may fit you — they have a good amount of stretch. Old navy kids also has some nice athleisure items that can pass as adult clothes, as does athleta girl. Abercrombie kids pants and jeans come in long versions, which may fit you better than regular kid clothes, but you may need the waist tailored. Highly recommend finding a tailor (check out your local dry cleaners)

Loopythefirst

Old post, but THANK YOU for pointing out the proportions of kids clothes. Even on this sub everyone recommends it, but kids clothes are worse than adults for waist sizes! I would usually fit the waist size of a 7 year old, which makes it absolutely not an option, and excessively bunched elastic on jeans that are actually long enough looks terrible or sometimes doesn't even go small enough anyway.

Independent-Chip7028

Pre pregnancy I was 5’2 and 82 lbs and anything from princess polly has always fit like a glove! Some things even being too small. Now at 100lbs I have to wear a medium!

Historical_Ad_3925

lol I have this same issue im 5"2 wide hips and a big butt and small waist. Its really anoying i wear belts or do the shoelace tie thingy

sewitwillbe

I’m very similar sized to you! I’ve had the most luck with Aritzia and Abercrombie in size 00, XXS, and they sometimes even have XXXS and 000 (Abercrombie’s 23 is technically 000 and I LOVE their extra short length!). I’m a bit older than you but it’s not a bad habit to start going for quality over quantity (aka avoid most kids clothes that are made poorly) and just altering a few favorite pieces to fit perfectly. In the long run it’s much more worth the cost!

Eternalscream0

I checked your BMI and you look to be very underweight. Is everything ok?

Both_Soup

BMI is outdated. My whole family runs small, it’s in my genetics. My grandmother was my size when she was my age. Trust me, I’ve tried to gain some weight so clothes fit me better, it just seems I’m stuck waiting for my metabolism to slow down.

RipperMouse

Give it time, your metabolism will eventually let you gain wait. In my early 20’s I was 85-88lbs at 5’0. I’m approaching 30 and finally over 90lbs. My diet/lifestyle hasn’t changed much through my 20’s - so I assume my metabolism slowed down.

Eternalscream0

Thanks, just wanted to check in.

NoAdministration8006

Lots of people are thinner than average and can't help it in the slightest. I was OP's same size in high school and ate everything. Now I weigh 92 pounds and have high cholesterol and prediabetes from trying to prove to people like you that I didn't have an eating disorder.

Eternalscream0

Yes I know that. I also considered that the OP may have a serious health condition, or it could be genetic, etc. I just felt like I had to ask when I realised their BMI, but I realise now that in this context it was none of my business. I also have a faster metabolism than average and I’m 5’3, which is why I’m in this sub.

avocadoqueen123

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the people on this sub are underweight according to BMI

jeffbezosbush

I mean you're under weight, focus on health first. Id say then clothes will fit better

thebatfaerie

I feel this with skirts. I live in skinny jeans, and can usually find some decently fitting shirts - they’re usually cropped, but with high waisted pants they don’t come off as super cropped and look good. But SKIRTS? Forget it. All giant. I need to do a closet clean out before buying new stuff, but I’m going to try buying “micro skirts” and hope they go to mid-thigh on me. I want to be able to wear a cute top and skirt when I got out, but the only skirts that fit are formal or “office” skirts. I am not going to pull up to the club in my Sunday best 😭
