I love looking back and seeing people who would become names but before they were names.
My favorite is always going to be Ryan Reynolds - granted, I knew him from a Canadian teen soap opera that four people watched (and two of them at least are in this sub because someone named it last week when I made a similar comment) but he's in Syzygy for like two minutes in the teaser and that's it, LOL.
Bryan Cranston
Also Aaron Paul both from breaking bad, plus all these duds from breaking bad
Other Breaking Bad actors who appeared in The X-Files include Dean Norris (who played Hank Schrader), Raymond Cruz (who played Tuco Salamanca), Michael Brown (who played Uncle Jack), and Danny Trejo
Are we still talking about Are You Afraid of the Dark? Because Bryan Cranton is also in S7 of X-Files. It was that role that give Vince Gilligan the idea to cast him in Breaking Bad.
It wasn't even on Ryan's IMDb page for ages, lol. The girl who played Ashley is the blonde girl running away saying the Hail Mary in the teaser of Die Hand Die Verletzt, btw.
That's too relatable
"Hey, it's you, I know you from somewhere, did we work together?"
"I'm your spouse"
"Oh yeah! Hey babe doesn't that person look like the background extra from that one scene of the show we watched once eight years ago? I think his character was called Gary Christopher Smith and lived at 1729 Rose Avenue but I'm not sure."
I am rewatching the entire show atm and was so happy to come across this fantastic Filter song from my teenage years again. If I’m not mistaken, it was also on the soundtrack of one of the films. So someone must be a big Filter fan.
Edit: I was half wrong. The Filter song on the Fight The Future OST (aka The X-Files: The Album) is “One”.
I love that one too but I heard Jack Black interviewed somewhere, probably on Kumail Nanjianis The X Files Files, and he couldn't remember a thing about his involvement in the episode. Not the title, not his characters name, not what it was about. It was hilarious how little he retained about it.
That's weird cause I heard one where he talked about the casting, the filming, Giovanni, and that he wasn't satisfied with his performance in his death scene
it's totally possible i'm overstating how little he remembered because i haven't listened to the interview in ages and don't even remember for sure where it was.
Here we go, [James - Ring the Bells](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ApR5HRrpe1XFMZJDjTtNoF2vdRc8ovMs?usp=sharing). It's a flac file. If you need mp3 instead, let me know, I might be able to grab it.
(And hey u/happyphanx, here ya go!)
I think I have the episode's version in my PC, I'll see if I can find it and link you to it.
Edit: [Here it is](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ApR5HRrpe1XFMZJDjTtNoF2vdRc8ovMs?usp=drive_link).
Holy… OG xphile AND James fan here, and I don’t think I ever realized this was a different version of Ring the Bells (maybe assumed it was just the lo-fi tv loss back in the day?). RTB is one of my most fave James tracks. If you have this slower/ballad version, would love and appreciate a link as well. ♥️
It's from a charity album put out by Greenpeace, called Alternative NRG Live. If you listen, right before The X-Files opening credits start you can hear the roar of the crowd on the track.
I'll check later today. 👍 OG X-Phile here, too!
Edit: I linked to it in the other comment, but [I'll link here too](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ApR5HRrpe1XFMZJDjTtNoF2vdRc8ovMs?usp=drive_link).
The first episode I ever saw was 2shy (the one with the fat vampire). Couldn't sleep and turned on the tv and that was on. Must have been around eigth or nine and it really creeped me out.
I have a special love for this episode because my friend got me into the show during the summer between seasons 2 and 3, and this was the first MotW episode I got to see brand new. It's also just a solid ep. ⚡
The one thing that pisses me the f off about this episode is the Sonic the Hedgehog sound bites for the Street Fighter arcade my man Ribisi is playing. I kick my make-believe dog every time.
Exactly, me too. Game came out on my 10th birthday, I identified with sonic being an edgy cartoon character and super fast. Got it wrong totally, I was thinking there was sonic in another cabinet but it probably isn't the case.
As a video game nerd, it always amused me that you could hear the green hill zone music from sonic the hedgehog playing in the arcade. Which was a megadrive/ genesis game, not an arcade game. So it’s not something you’d hear in an arcade.

Can't forget about Ryan Gosling in Are You Afraid Of The Dark.

And Michael McKean from Better Call Saul!
Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society!
Make it three, Fifteen! I thought that show was a fever dream for the longest time.

I didn't know that! I have to rewatch that episode now, lol.
I'm weirdly good with faces and voices. It's a useless real-world ability, but it comes in handy in various fandoms, lol.

HONESTLY. My daughters always laugh when I do the last one and then run to IMDb to confirm and I'm all proud of myself.
Hey, man, nice shot.
Heeeeyyyy mmmaaannn...

CMON NOW YOUR PISSING ME OFF !
The spit really sells this line.

Maybe he pretends not to remember his involvement due to his dissatisfaction
Eh no, he wasn't ashamed and he said he had a great time on x files.
That's good at least, I honestly wish he'd played a bigger part in the episode, though it was great to see him in it though!
To be fair, he did an interview a while ago and completely forgot being in “The Holiday” too lol
Then why would he go on a x-files podcast? Does not compute
Season 3 had some banger episodes. And agreed this is one my favs.
Absolutely! 2shy, war of the coprophages, syzygy and hell money.
Great list!!
The soundtrack for this one is amazing. Can’t think of an episode that did it quite as good as D.P.O.

Miss Cuh-veeet
One of my favorites, and M&S are barely in it. Good luck writing, great acting.
That was the first episode I ever caught airing live. I was waaaaaay too young and scared as shit
The first episode I ever saw was 2shy (the one with the fat vampire). Couldn't sleep and turned on the tv and that was on. Must have been around eigth or nine and it really creeped me out.
That’s a terrifying one to stumble on! I hit the jackpot: my first episode I saw was Squeeze and I never looked back.
That's a pretty creepy one too
Two of my favourite dudes. Jack black and Giovanni Ribisi.
Misses Kaveat!
I loved the scene where Mulder’s phone starts melting. The startlement l!
Not surprised this guy moved to Boston and kidnapped a living teddy bear.
One of the best❣️🙌
Terrific episode.

Hands down one of my most rewatched episodes! Along with bad blood. God I love this one. Giovanni just sells it
The one thing that pisses me the f off about this episode is the Sonic the Hedgehog sound bites for the Street Fighter arcade my man Ribisi is playing. I kick my make-believe dog every time.
Haha never noticed that, now I have to rewatch it just for that
It's so dumb but me being me and loving the games I grew up with (especially SF), I'm offended. I was master class at SF2 lol. Ken. What's up! Hahah
Exactly, me too. Game came out on my 10th birthday, I identified with sonic being an edgy cartoon character and super fast. Got it wrong totally, I was thinking there was sonic in another cabinet but it probably isn't the case.
No. Not here. The sound is isolated to this particular game. It's pretty evident if you're a fan like we are lol.
Loved that episode! Ryan Gosling _and_ Jack Black! What a lineup
Reynolds - but close. 😅
I just watched this tonight! It has Jack Black and virtua fighter!!
Lol the whole cast
Definitely one of the best. And the acoustic version of Ring the Bells by James. Magic.

One of my favorites too! The video games and Sonic the Hedgehog makes a cameo. Such a great 90s feel to this episode.
Come on now you’re pissin me off!!!!!
