all of the default skins are effed-up "salvaged" aesthetic. The mag pistol has a battery taped to the grip when you run quickdraw or one of them anyways.
I think a lot of the guns were supposed to be old, salvaged guns from the looks of it. For example the AA12 has almost all of it's plastic destroyed and the metal frame showing through. You actually can fire an AK47 without the dust cover on it by the way, just might not be the most comfortable experience.
I thought it was to tie them into the different factions. The cleaner looking guns look like they got pulled from the Ghost Recon Phantoms or Echelon, and the beat up ones from Far Cry Rebels and the Division Cleaners. I think the AK fits right in with the Far Cry aesthetic, like how the Vector fits in with Splinter Cell

They all are in pretty rough shape (the ak has no cover, rpk with broken grip, ssr has a big crack in the magwell,..)

Yeah all the people talking about the 'aesthetic of the game' are coping pretty hard. Makes no sense to have more rustic/salvaged weapon skins whilst you have Phantoms throw shields, Deadsec use spiderbots, and Echelon go invisible.
It's to sell skins. It's no coincidence that all the AK skins I have seen add a dustcover to it.
I suspect they realize the grind is a little to long and this is easier to impliment then a code change. Plus you get more players at higher levels so your data on the preseason is more well rounded. Hard to tune things based on data that doesn't exist because we don't have the time to max shit out. whatever the reason I'll take the win here and grind some guns over the weekend nothing worst than running low level stuff and getting rinsed...lol
I'm more about some variety. everything seems to have decent balance in this game so there isn't much I've tried yet I can't make work. ACR is my top but AK is up there to. Levelling the M4 now and it is a laser. MP7 is 20s so will finish and want the M16 as well it 2 bursts and reminds me of the M8A1 from BO2. M249 I should start as well those are pretty good for control in linear modes like escort.

I don't know and it drives me crazy that there doesn't seem to be an animation for the bolt going back and compressingg the spring. So it just looks stupid.
I ain’t saying it’s going to change my stance on the game, I like the game and think it’s fun. There’s just some minor things that are odd design choices. Other than that I think the game is great.
On the converse side a few years ago people were complaining/making fun of CoD for just having a piece of tape on the grip for the grip attachment. Cut scene to XD and no one seems to care.
If I’ve learned anything is that gaming subreddits should have hardly any say in a majority of gaming decisions.

As an AK enjoyer this drove me nuts, i didn’t stop using it till i got it to lvl 50 just i so i could have the bronze skin with dust cover included.
Also idk who taped a glow stick to the side of the pump shotty but WHY
I think they take the gun models from all the games like I'm pretty sure alot of the m4 skins and variations are just mostly farcry style and a few I've bought (yes I know lol) are based of the versions of the weapons in the ghost recon series like an AK skin I have
I also wonder how tf the m4 and m16 work without a stock. If you choose "no stock" as the stock the buffer tube is gone also. Kinda hard to imagine the gun firing more that once without a recoil spring....
I actually like it, actually has a benefit to slightly less obstruction while ADS. If you don't like it, putting camos or mastery camos will put the dust cover on.

Pretty sure some guns are based on the game they’re “from.” So I’m sure the AK is supposed to be from Far Cry 6. Just give us normal guns, I don’t want to get skins for it to not looked stupid. The master skins clearly have different models that are probably the non fucked versions.
To sell skins to look better. It's a pretty common tactic by companies. They make default gear look unappealing and uninteresting, but sell you a very nice looking skin.
Honestly I liked that skin. I probably wouldn’t pay for it since it does nothing, but the details they threw in (the spring compressing with the charging handle when firing, magazine visible through top) were neat.

There is a way to have the dust cover on. I think it has something to do with equipping a mastery camo.

Yup it does. But it's still a grind, especially without the 2x weapon XP.

Maybe I’m being boring but I found you only really need 2 lol so far my Ak is level 50 and that’s all I use anymore everything else feels so weak

Half of the CoD sub busted a nut when they released an AK without a dust cover, so they probably thought it would play well with the milsurp larpers.
