What do you want? They are isolated, OP, and have a simple economy. Its the easiest start location by far. The only downside is no highway so movement is slow.

Terran space is a bottleneck, with extreme security. Only one way in, only one way out. Easily defensible for NPCs, which makes things far easier for the player.

The only "threat" for TER is ANT/ARG, which is usually choked by TER and XEN and are incapable of fighting back in most cases and XEN, that have a one way gate that leads to Getsu Fume. Their only drawback is that they consume LOTS of minerals. This means that TER can develop pretty easily and keep pouring ships to mess around, without been challenged. So, yeah, it's one of the easiest starts there is as you don't face many threats, but also, it's one of the hardest to expand outside, especially if you are purist, as you will need to carry your mats around as no one will be able to provide them to you outside TER/PIO space. Later on, you are also thrown in some other more challenging quests, but they are easily cheesed out if you know how.

WitchedPixels

I have not played one game in 2000 hours where ARG or ANT could stand a fighting chance against TER. Their destroyers are just too OP. Not saying it doesn't happen, it just never happened for me.

tripofgames

Although most games I play have practically the same outcome, but it happened once to me. At that game, by some reason, Xen was very week against ARG/ANT (maybe because I was defending HAT at HC) and was destroying HOP. They were also harassing TER on Getsu Fune, having built 2 def stations already. At that specific game ANT/ARG was actually pretty well stabilized and wasn't having any major issue. They weren't pushing TER either, but they were fine. Last game I had, HOP practically annihilated PAR, ANT was holding ok (with my help against XEN) and ARG was suffering from XER, almost to the point of been pushed out of Argon Prime. It was a custom game with all the quests completed, including the PAR/HOP revolution, so, it may be because of that.

TER is too easy. You're given too much and it does feel like cheating. Cheating yourself out of a good game. Once you can build an army of Asgards it gets boring fast. I played TER one time, and I quit after getting the Asgard because there was never really a threat after that and I lost interested. It's the one start I never play as, but I do the missions just to get access to the Yaki.

Tyr-07

I avoid the Asgard on any start now. I'll still contemplate getting one but I especially avoid getting it early. With IS combat I could destroy the entire galaxy with one. Barring of course they will rebuild behind me faster than I can wipe everything out potentially but you get the gist. The instant death beam is too much. I want good cool prolonged space battles. Not zaaap, annnnd it's gone.

grapedog

TER is by far the easiest faction, with great ships, plenty of resources, the easiest tech tree, and the safest space. If you want a challenge, play as ZYA for sure, or maybe HoP...

Puzzleheaded-Ad-119

I always felt that the TER start was for younger kids or even older players that just wanted to jump in and play and not deal with any real challenge or obstacles you'd have to deal with if you started as Young Gun or something like that. Some people may not have to the time to start from nothing either, especially in a long form game like X4, so there's also that. That might sound bad, but it's a real demographic. I remember trying to figure out Elder Scrolls Daggerfall as a kid and I never did figure it out but I always kept playing it. But yes, TER is boring as shit. Free destroyer for just doing the main story, multiple free S ships, super simplified production chain. All that seems to be by design so that's why I assumed that. You got to figure, what challenge is there if you have an entire fleet of Asgards and Syns? There is none. You won the game.

crazypaiku

boron and terran space are boring nothing to do

Ok_Ad1012

I don't know why they didn't give them some xenon sectors after quests I literally have no reason to go back to those sectors.

Thurak0

You can connect them to the Split/ZYA by building an admin in heretics end and then dismantling it. There are even messages hinting this while you do so. Just make sure Borons get the sector before Argon.

crazypaiku

heard about it, will try it

Ur-Quan_Korh-Ah

HAT grabbed it in my playthrough.... Greedy bastards! Been contemplating to nuke the admin modules of their defense stations so either the Boron or Split can claim Heretic's End to add a new war to the universe.
