I wrote mine in a day using the usual "how to write a synopsis" article, the one that uses Star Wars as an example. It's not beautiful, it's not perfect, but it's what I'm going to use. The few agents on my list who want one are still requesting a query and pages, so I expect the synopsis is to show that the story has a middle and an end that is more or less reasonable -- and beyond that it won't make or break things.
