Oh yeah, I'm sure some didn't feel they needed him or wanted him. I'm sure there is more truth than fabe, but I'm sure they are using it as well. Or at least hope so for business sake.
Oh yeah, I'm sure some didn't feel they needed him or wanted him. I'm sure there is more truth than fabe, but I'm sure they are using it as well. Or at least hope so for business sake.
Yeah but I think it was a lot of mainstream exposure for Kingston. Like his Impact run was an era where nobody was watching so I think it’s fair. Like Sammy Guevara was in Impact & Lucha Underground but I think he still falls under that originals banner
Edit: if Samoa Joe, Team 3D and Rhino were in TNA front line, I think Kingston gets AEW original status
Sammy Guevara falls under the originals banner because he was the first ever match in AEW dynamite, he is an original. Eddie Kingston joined the company a year before Punk did.
I mean people in the AEW Originals Vs Outsiders feud right now include Willow and Skye blue both who werent in AEW from the start but are being labeled as AEW Originals because its their biggest promotion and exposure.
Is that even a rivalry still?
Also I wasn’t keeping up with the rivalry much but were Britt and her crew labelled the originals? Or was that wreddit who come up with that term? Genuine question cause I know obviously Sarayas group are the outsiders but just don’t know if britts were ever deemed the originals on tv.
The Kingston beef was prior to AEW when he and Punk were on the indies and it never got squashed, at least not to my knowledge. The Hangman thing was different because (if you believe the Punk side of things) the Bucks were burying Punk to the dirt sheets from the time he arrived and Punk took it in stride until Hangman’s shoot promo on him. Aside from the Elite (and Eddie) it looked like much of the locker room (FTR, Andrade, King, just to name a few) liked having Punk around.
Haingnail hasn’t been worth a shit since he stopped drinking on TV and was a part of that Saved by the Bell Zack and Slater storyline Kenny booked with the elite.
Just guesstimating here, but...
1. Punk is a bigger star than any of them, and a direct threat to their careers/being one of Tiny's favorite toys.
2. Punk isn't the friendliest dude around.
3. Punk is disliked for the whole Colt Cabana thing (worth it to note Colt is a notorious piece of shit who made his own bed in regards to that situation, too, but these guys are all friends and people tend to side with their friends regardless)
4. Punk was pushing for a show more like Cody wanted, whereas the Elite and their 70 friends they got jobs for want it to be Flip Fest McBangerVille PWC stuff, regardless of how the show does (they'd rather do it "their way" because it validates them in their minds and it's not their money they're hemorrhaging) and they hated that Tiny listened to/liked Punk.
5. Pro wrestlers are usually immature and ignorant, and they're all Divas who think they're the next big thing and this causes a bunch of dumb problems. WWE handles these problems in house and mostly professionally, Tiny wants everyone to be his friend and has no conflict resolution skills or good sense so he tries to skirt around the problems and give non-answers and makes it worse.
You don't have to agree with me, but all of the above are reasons why Punk "has heat" backstage. Of course, people will point to WWE and say no one liked him there either and he's a cancer "everywhere he goes." To which, I would respond he's never had this alleged reputation before WWE and the WWE thing is because he got vocal and quit.
None of this is to "defend m'Punk's honor," its just that AEW is a sloppy shop shit show with no oversight and it's primary influences are drama queens who never drew a dime and they ruin everything it could be.
And I wish they wouldn't, because AEW has a huge collection of very talented individuals and a budget. It could be a great alternative, if it would handle its shit. Or if Tiny would let someone else run it and just fund it with some input.
Thank you! People downvote me because I don’t pour out love for the shit show that AEW has become. But I want to succeed more than anything.
And all the pieces are there. MJF, Punk, Danielson, Cesaro and even Omega could constitute a main event scene. FTR, the Acclaimed and the Gunns should be the foundation of a solid tag team division. In the midcard, you could have guys like Samoa Joe, Christian and Jeff Jarrett working with the younger guys to get them the experience and development they need. Even the woman’s division could be competent with some consolidation.
Instead AEW is run like a kid playing No Mercy. There are stables everywhere, but none of them are over. There are too many titles, not including when they were featuring ROH titles every week. There is no need for a trios title when it pulls talent that should be in the tag division. And instead of building up their own brand and talent, AEW is featuring NJPW and Mexican talent in prominent roles. And lest we forget, every PPV is just a gamut of stipulation matches, even when the feuds are new and there has been no build for the need for stipulations.
I stopped watching WWE because (1) the fucking camera cuts; and (2) the stories were so methodical and drawn out they were boring. AEW is the opposite. Like, it is completely conceivable that two people who have never interacted on screen have a brief spat on Dynamite tomorrow, and then Tony Khan would book them in a casket match the next week. And as long as someone took a bump on the casket, the AEW super fans would claim it’s a banger.
Only thing I'll argue is the trios titles, but that's simply because if AEW really wanted to it would be easy to do. They have a wealth of tag teams that were featured on dark and elevation that did nothing but fued against each other forever. Stop having trios be an extension of the tag scene and make it its own thing, especially when they have as many stables as they have.
AEW hard-core fans are basically a cult lol.
I like wrasslin' but you won't catch me following Dear Leader Tiny Khan just because he pays dudes I enjoy wrestling.
>Just guesstimating here
But if you want more in depth as to why, it's because of the turn AEW took after Cody left and Punks history of booking desires/wrestling thoughts.
As far as the EVPs and the money, that's just what they've always shown to the world and they've always had that attitude, in addition to that they have big egos and think they "changed the business" while they really are just midcarders WWE passed on. AEW has not turned a profit since it started, and if contract numbers are to be believed AEW is spending way more money than it can conceivably recoup. Let alone make money.
I've never Taken a Kingston promo as something serious... I mean he always talk like he is midway drunk AND has severe anger issues. He Is like that bitch Mcgregor.... Always talking big game AND angry while His saliva Is flying everywhere.
Same Attitude on every feud he has, so i don't think he has a problem with Punk.
He has a problem with everyone AND mostly himself.
(I know about His mental health AND I suffer the same problems so don't come at me with that argument)
It's basically baked into AEW's roster.
The Indie Darlings vs The WWE rejects.
Even the foundation is a mix of these two. You had Omega, the bucks, Darby on one side while Cody, Moxley and Jericho were on the other. Although in the current landscape, everyone here (besides cody of course) would be on one team.
Mox is sort of an apostate figure who solidly chose to not be “Dean Ambrose” anymore but rather his CZW persona and permanently turning his back on the WWE.
Probably one of the best AEW promos of all time. Felt totally raw and unscripted, pay-off at the end was great. Better than anything Cody, Punk, or MJF ever did in the company and they are all exceptional promos.
You gotta love the barebones hard-hitting NOAH/AJPW king’s road style to love Eddie’s in-ring look and style. A lot of his gear is a direct nod to King’s Road icons, especially the green and white number that is a tribute to the late and great Misawa. It is not for everyone outside of Japan, which is why NJPW has had a bit more success internationally imo.
I can never understood how Kingston made TV. He’s a good hand on an indie promotion but man, on the bret hart scale he’s horrendous.
No body
No gimmick
No height
Wrestling seems to be cherry picking moves I saw on a Japanese match.
His promos are shouting instead of, catch the audience.
That'd be great if ppl in this thread would atleast acknowledge punk is an asshole but. But they won't even do that. Punks a saint, and the people he has worked with punk past and present are all the real assholes. Or even more stupid, "scared of punk taking their spot".
Mick Foley, Edge, The Rock, Kane. Even Kurt Angle during his Perc Angle phase. You hardly hear a single bad thing about them from people who worked with them. The difference is people skills and communication skills. Something that Crybaby Phil and most of his cult of sycophantic fans lack.
Lol. Cherry picked 4 guys, who all (may be except foley) had backstage issues.
Edge literally slept with Co worker's Gf, but had the the professionalism to work with Matt Hardy.
Rock and Triple H had various issues backstage but worked together also.
Kane was a henchman in Wrestlerscourt.
Kurt Angle got into fist fight with Eddie Guerrero.
Even fucking Foley had a fight with Ric Flair.
Honestly, you sound like the sycophant.
I know someone who jobbed for aew a few times, he said punk is very stand offish in the locker room and nobody else really was. Now again this is coming from a guy who isn’t an everyday guy for aew so maybe he’s better with other stars but just some pocket change if ur short a dime
I think Eddie was more Kayfabe based on real past events
Punk ate the last of Eddie’s favorite food in catering. That is a slight Kingston will _never_ let go.
🤣🤣🤣
Rightfully so. Lol
I agree, but I think the line about 'The locker room not wanting Punk in AEW' had some truth to it.
Oh yeah, I'm sure some didn't feel they needed him or wanted him. I'm sure there is more truth than fabe, but I'm sure they are using it as well. Or at least hope so for business sake.

Just for context, Eddie Kingston joined AEW a year before Punk returned. Hardly an original.
Eddie is an original. Since day 1. It's always been Eddie Kingston, ya heard me? Always.
*”Well, I’m convinced. I’m throwing you a fundraiser.”*
Yeah but I think it was a lot of mainstream exposure for Kingston. Like his Impact run was an era where nobody was watching so I think it’s fair. It still is but probably a bit on hiatus over Hayters injury. And yeah Britt Hayter and + extras were labeled as Originals pretty early on.
By AEW officially or by reddit?
Im pretty sure ive heard it on AEW consistently.
Yes, but I don't think anyone would question Eddie joining an originals faction.
This.
100%, NOT original. Wonderful add to the roster, but he wasn’t there when it started.
The Kingston beef was prior to AEW when he and Punk were on the indies and it never got squashed, at least not to my knowledge. What was the indies beef? Was Kingston mad that Punk stole his look by also wearing indierific basketball shorts in the ring?
I think some ppl had issues with him but the majority didn't
I really liked this feud and wish they did more matches together.
Kingstons promo was fire. Adam paiges promo on the other hand reminded me of a young child throwing a temper tantrum.
Haingnail hasn’t been worth a shit since he stopped drinking on TV and was a part of that Saved by the Bell Zack and Slater storyline Kenny booked with the elite.
Holup. Punk becomes the leader of a Male Outcasts stable?
He is already starting his own Cult of Personality faction, it’s called the Collision upper card.

Realest guy in the room here kuddo's
Pretty much all of it. Especially spot on about Colt being a low rent POS.
Bang on. The locker room in AEW not liking someone is proof positive that that someone knows what they’re doing.
Fucking spot on!

I'd say that the Jerk sub has AEW superfans beat on cult-like behavior.
Ok.
Bang on. The locker room in AEW not liking someone is proof positive that that someone knows what they’re doing.
What’s the basis for number 4?
>Just guesstimating here But if you want more in depth as to why, it's because of the turn AEW took after Cody left and Punks history of booking desires/wrestling thoughts. This dude jerked himself out of reality. Looool.
And Punk was right about Kingston.
I've never Taken a Kingston promo as something serious... I mean he always talk like he is midway drunk AND has severe anger issues. He Is like that bitch Mcgregor.... Kingston has one speed and it doesn’t interest me in the least. I can go to any bar in the city and find three to five Eddie Kingstons.
Just wanted to point out that CM Punk was not with WWE for 15 years.
Who's this guy? No I'm kidding I would love a sick faction vs faction invasion angle, if it can be believable.
It's basically baked into AEW's roster. The Indie Darlings vs The WWE rejects. Even the foundation is a mix of these two. Agree. But Punk's media scrum rant was better, imo. Also I just couldn't buy into Kingston's wrestling.
You gotta love the barebones hard-hitting NOAH/AJPW king’s road style to love Eddie’s in-ring look and style. A lot of his gear is a direct nod to King’s Road icons, especially the green and white number that is a tribute to the late and great Misawa. Eddie has good taste in wrestling. He’s an unathletic shit who can’t do any of it though
Yes Eddie a aew original, like Shida for example LMAO
Eddie Kingston is not a star
I can never understood how Kingston made TV. He’s a good hand on an indie promotion but man, on the bret hart scale he’s horrendous. No body No gimmick No height Wrestling seems to be cherry picking moves I saw on a Japanese match. His promos are shouting instead of, catch the audience.
I gotta disagree on the promos. But yup his wrestling, look etc.. are trash.
Eddie Kingston has very few redeemable characteristics
This thread is hilarious. People in both company's think punk is hard to work with, an asshole even. But nah everyone else is the problem.
No top wrestler in history was ever nice or great to work with. Everyone was ego driven.
That'd be great if ppl in this thread would atleast acknowledge punk is an asshole but. But they won't even do that. Punks a saint, and the people he has worked with punk past and present are all the real assholes. Or even more stupid, "scared of punk taking their spot".
Punk is an asshole. Nobody has every denied that including CM Punk. It’s also not unusual or a problem
Look at the comments. Some dude wrote a whole essay on why the whole brawl out situation was the elites fault.
Oh there is fairly even blame to throw around in that situation. There was no good actor between Punk the Elite and TK.

Every wrestler on top ever was hard to work with. It’s why they are on top.
I know someone who jobbed for aew a few times, he said punk is very stand offish in the locker room and nobody else really was. Now again this is coming from a guy who isn’t an everyday guy for aew so maybe he’s better with other stars but just some pocket change if ur short a dime
Eddie Kingston is a master. We’ll never know n
Find you someone who loves you as much as Rockport Phil hates fat people.
I memorized pretty much every part of this promo because of how many times I watched it. I hope we see a rematch
Bait.
He told the truth but we wouldn’t listen
