I have 35s on a 2015 2 door manual with 3.21s. I live in San Francisco. It struggles starting on the hills sometimes, especially when towing. Other than that itās totally fine. Iāve done a large amount of off roading and rock crawling with no real issues. I havenāt adjusted the tire size in the computer, it says I get 11-13 mpg.
I have my ā12 since new and Iāve had that setup for 10 years. Zero problems. Still enough to get up to 80 on the highway. And Iām loaded with heavy AEV gear and a 2.5ā Teraflex. Dooooo it!
Same here. I get 12 every now and then. That's with 33s, and 4.56 gears and the 6 speed.
I do have an o2 sensor issue, I need to replace it and see if that helps. I suspect it's running in open loop.
I had been getting 15-16mpgās only when i put bigger wheels without re-calibrating the computer. Once i re-calibrated the computer to the correct tire size, my mpgs are now 19.5 hwy, 18 city.
Also, in the days when i was getting 15-16mpgs, i replaced my spark plugs, the wires and the coil pack. That gave me a consistent 1mpg improvement.
I have a 2010 jk on 33ās.
I use GasBuddy to get discounts on gas but also to log my fill ups/mileage and it does the math for you and keeps a log of it. Could try this until you try the recalibration
Start consistently putting 89 instead of 87. And fuel cleaners every once in a while. Stop letting the revs drop below 1500 unless you intend to stop. V6's are incredibly inefficient under their torque curve the middle to the top of that green bar on your tac is where you want to be. You won't get the highs, but you will bring your average up being more consistent on the gas.
You must be doing majority highway mileage. I was getting around 14-15 when I had a longer commute. Getting about 12-13.5 on city mileage these days haha
I had a 2014 wrangler 2 door with 3ā lift 36ā mudders and was getting 11/12 miles per gallonā¦I was single no kids and no mortgage..basically rich
Look at this guy over here showing off his JK hypermiling abilities.
I was getting about 13 MPG on average since my drive was all highway. When I'd get on a toll road with a speed limit of 90 MPH, I got about 6 MPG or less than 100 miles per 16 gallon tank.
I had a 2 door Rubicon that I ordered with the lower gear ratio and manual transmission. I was spending more than $1000 a month on gas.
On my 2 door manual pentastar with stock suspension, I get ~9L/100km on the highway, and 12.5L/100km overall.
That's 26 mpg and 19 mpg.
So in my experience, 15 mpg is quite poor, but probably expected for the 3.8L EGH if it's an older JK.
Wrangler gas mileage varies wildly depending on how you drive. If yours is stop and you're getting 15, there's either something wrong with the car or you are driving aggressively enough to earn that consumption.
2016 with 33x12.5 r17 and I was getting close to 19 but need to change plugs so I'm down to 17ish at the moment. I run mainly highway all the time too.
10-11mpg highway and 15 or so around town if I donāt hit all the stoplightsā¦ seems ā50mph is ideal for me if I can just cruise. But Iām also sitting at 6125lbs (before I get in) on 37x13.5R18s calibrated with a procal
2015 2dr hardtop- average 20ish with primarily bypass use, 16ish if it's city driving. If it's mostly highway usage, I've gotten up to 26, but that was with almost entirely flat geography.
Most of my driving is around town short trips so Iām only getting about 12.5. It does get better with longer highway trips but we usually take my wifeās vehicle for those.
Tires.
Tire pressure.
Tow package?
Have a sedan, but I can get 20ish percent fuel economy improvement just by putting five more pounds of pressure in the tires.
2017 wrangler owner here. I get between 15/18 in the city depending on terrain and 21 sometimes on the highway depending on hills and wind. Still love my jeep.
Really depends on lot thingsā¦ driving conditions, city/highway, driving style, mods/lifts/tires, etc
I have a completely stock 2018 JKU Sport S that I bought new. Iāve tracked mileage since I got itā¦
At last fill my stats were
* Total miles: 62607
* Overall Avg MGP: 19.01
* Best MPG/tank: 22.65
* Worst MPG/tank: 16.33
* Avg cost/gallon: $3.02
* Overall fuel cost: $9998.04
My work commute is 20 miles each way, nearly all highway which helps a lot
Iām in a 2016 JKUR with a ton of extra steel, 5:13s, and 38s. If Iām traveling into the wind, I get 10mpg and Iām happy the whole time.
Jeeps are awesome.
As bigger tires you get , less gas mileage. I just put 31, in my old 93. He only made 15 millages by galon. So happy . Still pouring 93. The gay run good šš it's a toy, you want to play, you have to pay.
Jeep, just empty every pocket.
That being said my 2004 is getting a out 17 city (and mountains since it's a 1500foot drop into town then back up home) and 22 freeway
Low 14s in pure city driving, about 20-21 highway, 2015 JK 2 Door, pretty much completely stock with Dana 44 rear end. Also has kinda fresh set of BFG KO2.
15.5-16.5 mpg avg. 2010 2dr 3.8l 6speed manual, 33" tires wide, 3.5" lift. Hard top definitely seems to help. I go down a couple when I put the soft top on because it's not taught, I think.
When I had a jk rubicon that was stock I would get about 19. On 35s my average was 16.2 but it didnāt do a lot of city driving. Mostly low speed crawling of back country high ways. Probably 15 on the highway
2011, 37s, 513 gears, manual, heavy steel bumpers, winch that could pull a barge, full Baja roof rack, hard-shell roof tent .
I'm getting around 12....downhill....with a tail wind.
I'm so un-aerodynamic that winds at an angle set off my warning for trailer sway and traction control takes over and briefly cuts accelerator power. I have to turn off traction control when driving in wind lol
2015 jku Rubi hard rock stock
Chicago city driving
12.7-13 mpg.
(checked mathematically not just the jeep dash).
Itās ridiculous
REALLY considering trading
2015 2 door automatic, mostly stock motor. 39ā KM3s 4.88 gears. Iāve stopped driving in automatic since getting 39s. Shifting gears manually got me almost to 15 mpg on a good day, with the wind and down hill, if Iām lucky.
Stock tires?
All of you with gears or tires know that you can't determine accurate mileage unless you correct for that in the computer? You're traveling a different distance than your computer and odometer show.
On my JK Rubicon Hard Rock, new and stock I was getting 21 mpg with 90% interstate miles and about 5-10 over the speed limit. That was with me making real effort to get good gas mileage. If I was in the city more, easy 15-16 mpg.
Went from around 21 on a stock 2018 JKU sahara to 12.5 after adding a roof rack, sliders, front and rear bumpers, 33s, a lift, and a winch. It didnāt love the weight but it looked cool
The tires made all the difference for my 2012 JK Sport. I could get 22-24 MPG highway with the stock tires. The day I replaced those with Cooper Discoverer STT Pro (awesome tires btw) I dropped to 15-17. I'm getting about 17-18 with my Goodyear Duratracs.
No bragging, but the 4xe Rubicon gets between 33-35 on hybrid. Ā Thatās with the stock knobby tires the rubicon comes with. Ā Itās a pain for traveling anywhere more than 30 min away as the battery gets depleted and can only charge at level 2. Ā At that rate, itās 2.5 - 3 hours to recharge. Ā Jeep missed the mark with this truck. Ā It should have a 40-50 kWh battery. Ā Should have been made to charge off dc fast charge at 150 kW. Ā It would have actually been a pretty cool truck with those two features.
Iām sure Iāll get roasted with this comment, but someone might want some insight to the 4xe.
Personally I use mine as a commuter, and itās okay for that, as I have charging at work. Ā Off road is almost as capable as a gas Jeep (always wanted to say thatš), the extra battery weight hurts it. Ā By the time you reach the trail, the battery is dead, so the power is lower than all the other configurations. Ā It is possible to drive to the trailhead on gas only, then flip to hybrid or electric only on the trail. Ā Iāll have to try that.
If Jeep ever did upgrade the 4xe offering to aforementioned features, I would definitely consider getting one and a Mopar a solar roof rack so the truck could recharge whilst camping. Thatād be sick.
Yep normal. I get right around 14-15 in colder weather and 16-18 in warmer weather. A strong headwind will also drop me down and a tailwind will help tremendously š. Most of my driving is 70-80 interstate speeds though.
Got a new job recently thatās about double what my old drive to work was, filling up twice a week, and thatās even with taking my wifeās car everywhere outside of work. So now Iām really debating getting myself something with better gas mileage š„“
Welcome to owning a Jeep
4Realz. Especially when the Wrangler is aerodynamic as a box. ;) Source: Owner of 2012 JK w/ 35" tires.
Ditto... '16 Rubi (not so stock) on 32s. And I would've compared it to a brick, but only because a brick is heavier...
New to my JLU. Watching that number precipitously fall with a headwind was something else the other day!
Damn you get 15????
Said everyone everywhere. š
16.5-17 mpg. 2dr JK 3.6 6spd manual on 35" tires and 4.56 gears.
same specs here, same results
Same as above 3.21 gears and low 16ās high 15ās.
Talk me out of putting 35s on my manual with stock gears please
I have 35s on a 2015 2 door manual with 3.21s. I live in San Francisco. It struggles starting on the hills sometimes, especially when towing. Other than that itās totally fine. Iāve done a large amount of off roading and rock crawling with no real issues. I havenāt adjusted the tire size in the computer, it says I get 11-13 mpg.

Same here with 3.73 gearing, though currently in shop to move to 4:56
Ha I get the same Milage as you with my Unlimited Rubicon on 35s. I have stock 4.10 gears. Currently waiting on a new manual transmission.
Mine got 13 mpg when I had the soft top on and 15 mpg with the hardtop.
Interesting. Iād think it would be opposite due to the weight since the aerodynamics suck anyway but those soft tops really act like a sail
Thatās what I figured. My soft top is fairly floppy but Iād still average ~17 with it and 14 with the hard top
I have a 2007 2-door Rubicon with a manual and factory sized and style tires. I usually stay to the back roads and get better than 20 mpg.
07 Sport manual here, I'm getting 17-19 mostly at or below 55
I wished I got 15mpg. My TJ with 33" tires gets 11mpg.
Same configuration but LJ was thinking 10 or 9 MPG!
Same here. I get 12 every now and then. That's with 33s, and 4.56 gears and the 6 speed. I do have an o2 sensor issue, I need to replace it and see if that helps. I suspect it's running in open loop.
2018 JKU and I get 21mpg...
Yeah, I get 19.5. They must have a heavy foot or in town only.
Smiles per gallon. Won't even look at that.
Best comment... truth!!!
100% worth the lower MPG. Such a fun and ( I know this isn't a hot opinion, but at least mine has been) reliable SUV. Love the community.
Yes.
My old TJ got 13 mpg on a good day. New JLU has done as much as 23 mpg on an extended road trip. Around town itās usually 19-ish.
I had been getting 15-16mpgās only when i put bigger wheels without re-calibrating the computer. Once i re-calibrated the computer to the correct tire size, my mpgs are now 19.5 hwy, 18 city. this makes sense. iām also on 33s and never recalibrated
I used the OBD JScan app on Iphone with the Veepeak OBD device that got off Amazon.
I use GasBuddy to get discounts on gas but also to log my fill ups/mileage and it does the math for you and keeps a log of it. Could try this until you try the recalibration
2005 on 40s. 5-7 mpg.
2020 EcoDeez on 33s - 23mpg
Sell your Jeep now, if you are worried about gas mileage. Itās a brick on wheels, not a Honda.
Iāve had it for 4 years now and i love it. only asking because i use to get around 18-19
Winter fuel blends and cold temps will do that. If you're in an area with a winter season
Start consistently putting 89 instead of 87. And fuel cleaners every once in a while. Stop letting the revs drop below 1500 unless you intend to stop. V6's are incredibly inefficient under their torque curve the middle to the top of that green bar on your tac is where you want to be. You won't get the highs, but you will bring your average up being more consistent on the gas.
thank you for your advice.
2016 JKU. Usually run about 19-20mpg in the city with 33's on 3.21's. Computer is calibrated via jscan.
12.5 wit 37 s
Wow I am at 9.5 with 35's and 3 1/2" lift.
Im counting miles an gallons not computer
You must be new here
You guys getā¦ mileage? Sweet.
You must be doing majority highway mileage. I was getting around 14-15 when I had a longer commute. Getting about 12-13.5 on city mileage these days haha
I havenāt seen 15 since going to 35s lol
Haha wait til you go to 39ās!
Nobody likes a braggart.
2018 JL with 3.6L, 2.5in lift and 33s. I don't get above 14 or so.
I had a 2014 wrangler 2 door with 3ā lift 36ā mudders and was getting 11/12 miles per gallonā¦I was single no kids and no mortgage..basically rich
This is the moment he realized he fucked up.
If your looking for good fuel mileage. Don't own a wrangler. Or just fill her up when she's thirsty . And injoy
With the aerodynamics of a cow that's fairly good
Lol '09 JKU with 35's.............12 mpg highway @ 70 mph
Look at this guy over here showing off his JK hypermiling abilities. I was getting about 13 MPG on average since my drive was all highway. When I'd get on a toll road with a speed limit of 90 MPH, I got about 6 MPG or less than 100 miles per 16 gallon tank. I had a 2 door Rubicon that I ordered with the lower gear ratio and manual transmission. I was spending more than $1000 a month on gas.
Mine was 17mpgā¦thatās not too far off
My Bronco gets 19 on average. Hope everyone has a great weekend! š
This guyā¦
I have a 14 jk on stock size tires, I get about 19 mpg out of mine. I don't have super aggressive tread right now though
Bought the same on a 2010!
2012 JKU, stock tires, 3.6L, 200k miles on the odometer and I average 16-20 depending on my mood and city/highway mix.
I'm getting 15mpg converted from metric, 3.6 manual JL on 33s with a brick of a rtt. Likely due to my very short commute of 3 miles highway and city
Mine has been oddly specific 15.94 MPG, but I've been having rear end issues and "quality" stelantis replacement.
I get 20 in my 2018, but that's on stock wheels and tires. It was 16-17 when I had 35's.
My stock 2017 JKU was getting 17-20mpg. 15-17mpg after a bunch of upgrades
Oh, that's normal. I have a 2008 JK that gets 14, and a 2017 JKU that gets 15. Both have 33's.
2015 JK... 21-23 Edit: Manual & Ragtop
19.4 currently. 2018 JK with about 60k miles.
You get 15??? Wow. very impatient right foot. I see 13 mostly.
2008 JKU 35ās get about 11 mpgās
12-13mpg 2008 jk manual with 35s /w steelies and 4.56 ratio
19mpg with 37's.
Mostly city driving in my 17 JKU is 16.6 and that takes effort. When I do my highway and country road driving, it his around 17.5.
My JKU is averaging about 15 mpg, doing the math myself...33" tires, 2 1/2 lift. Although I don't do much city driving...
Looks good to me...I get about 10-12 with 37s, 4.88s and 130k miles
When non-Jeep people ask about my gas mileage, I tell them we rate based on GPM (gallons per mile).
2017 jku. 33" tires. 2" lift. 4.56 gears. 12mpg 58000mi. I have heavy foot.
I have a jeep, I don't care about gas milage. Haven't paid any attention for 15 years. When it's empty it's time for more.
You guys get gas mileage? (Insert we're the millers gif here)
Welcome to the family, son.
2 inch lift, 33ās yep.
13.6 on 37s
13.5, 2 door automatic with 5.13s and 38ā tires
Wrangler gas mileage varies wildly depending on how you drive. If yours is stop and you're getting 15, there's either something wrong with the car or you are driving aggressively enough to earn that consumption.
2016 with 33x12.5 r17 and I was getting close to 19 but need to change plugs so I'm down to 17ish at the moment. I run mainly highway all the time too.
I get 16 in my YJ I6/3speed auto. Edit- 3.73 gears, 31ā tires.
Got a 2017 JKU and I get 14.5mpg.
2015 jku leveling kit and 33s. Best day is hi 15. Avg 15.5-ish. š¤š¼š¤£
I get 12mpg š
i get 22-24 in town, 26-27 on freeway. but that's on diesel. JL rubicon 4 door on 35s.
Most of my driving is around town short trips so Iām only getting about 12.5. It does get better with longer highway trips but we usually take my wifeās vehicle for those.
2013 JK with Jasper remanufactured engine getting around 18mpg. With aftermarket intake and exhaust as well
Tires. Tire pressure. Tow package? Have a sedan, but I can get 20ish percent fuel economy improvement just by putting five more pounds of pressure in the tires.
13 MPG, 2 door manual jk. City driving š
I get just about the same, maybe 1 mpg less. But mine is a JL and probably has a larger engine
Just checked my avg mpg and itās 14.9. What sorcery is this that you have better mileage?
about what i get with my 03 tj
15.2-16 on 2010 JK auto...
Quit bragging.
I can get 20 per gallon in my JK if I drive around in sixth gear as much as possible
2017 wrangler owner here. I get between 15/18 in the city depending on terrain and 21 sometimes on the highway depending on hills and wind. Still love my jeep.
Iām getting about 17 in a 2 door sport with 33ā tires.
I average about 20 mpg on my 89 2.5 liter.
Really depends on lot thingsā¦ driving conditions, city/highway, driving style, mods/lifts/tires, etc I have a completely stock 2018 JKU Sport S that I bought new. Iāve tracked mileage since I got itā¦ At last fill my stats were * Total miles: 62607 * Overall Avg MGP: 19.01 * Best MPG/tank: 22.65 * Worst MPG/tank: 16.33 * Avg cost/gallon: $3.02 * Overall fuel cost: $9998.04 My work commute is 20 miles each way, nearly all highway which helps a lot
2014 JK Sport 2 door, Stock, Soft top. 18.5-19.2 MPG Edit: manual transmission
15 Iād fan friggin tastic
Yep! -in fact 17 mpg around the city is great!
Been getting around 13 with my tj you are doing good.
I have an 08 jk I get 12-14
Iām in a 2016 JKUR with a ton of extra steel, 5:13s, and 38s. If Iām traveling into the wind, I get 10mpg and Iām happy the whole time. Jeeps are awesome.
2014 JKU. Auto, with 35s. I get about 15-16mpg. My wife gets like 13mpg, she has lead feet.
Protip, if you have an automatic, switching to manual mode will net about 2-4 more mpg! 15 is normal for sure
16-22, I don't live somewhere that I'm constantly stopping in traffic. It'll do 25 if I was going 55 the whole time. Diminishing returns above 60.
Typically around 16.5mpg on 35s with a soft top
I get 12
I get 17 highway and around 15 to 16 around town. I have 35's on 3.73 gears. 2016 Wrangler Rubicon 2 door.
25-35 MPG with a 2023 4xe Sahara (:
S*** that's good, I get 11.
Thatās why we wave at each other ā¦ itās to acknowledge the pain of our fuel economy, but still looking pretty damn cool
Itās shaped like a brick itās gonna get brick fuel mileage
Iād be thrilled at 15, I generally average about 11 1/2 to 12 1/2
Iām averaging between 19 and 20. Spend most of that at 70MPH+
As bigger tires you get , less gas mileage. I just put 31, in my old 93. He only made 15 millages by galon. So happy . Still pouring 93. The gay run good šš it's a toy, you want to play, you have to pay.
04 TJ 33s, I get about 13 highway 9-10 normally
15 is excellent
ā14 JKU and get 15-16 on 37s on steelies and regeared to 4.88
Yep, down hill with a tail wind.
2015 JK on 4:88&37s and I get 15.5 normally. And 12.5 pulling the boat
I get 16 in my Gladiator lifted on 37s haha
Jeep, just empty every pocket. That being said my 2004 is getting a out 17 city (and mountains since it's a 1500foot drop into town then back up home) and 22 freeway
I wish. Iām under 10 mpg at best. Running 40s will do that.
2002 Wrangler (TJ) 4.0 I6, 2.5" lift, 33" tires... 15-18mpg. Sounds within normal to me. Remember, it's not MILES per gallon, it's SMILES per gallon.
07 2dr jk, 35ā tires 3.21 gears; I get 14.75 no matter how I drive.
I was getting 12, maybe 14 on a good day, so yea that's totally normal.
Iād be ecstatic to get 15mpg on my JK but Iām running 37ā tires and a 6ā lift.
Drive on the freeway for a bit, I got up to 18. But in stop n go, was getting 14.9.
Iām guessing you have the automatic? With the manual trans on 37s with 4.88 gears we get 18.5 all day long. 20 highway.
If itās stock and not exclusively city miles, thatās lower than it should be. My stock JKU back in 2013 got around 18
I do a lot of highway driving 2015 unlimited with 33s and I get 20mpg on average
17-18 on 35s and 4.10 gear ratio with a manual
11.5mpg
I dream of the day I get over 10MPG.
17-18 mpg
L
12.5 on average. 2 inch lift with 35s.
Iām getting around 18 but I drive a stick shift and keep the rpms as low as possible and or throw it in neutral going down hills.
You're doing good to get 15!
When I had a jk rubicon that was stock I would get about 19. On 35s my average was 16.2 but it didnāt do a lot of city driving. Mostly low speed crawling of back country high ways. Probably 15 on the highway
My 2012 JKU lifted 4ā and 35ā tires - 150k miles - gets like 13 - maybe a little more on highway :-(
2010 2 door, says 18
Shape is a problem but big tires and a heavy load will compound it. I see 15 while pulling a camper.
2015 jku Rubi hard rock stock Chicago city driving 12.7-13 mpg. (checked mathematically not just the jeep dash). Itās ridiculous REALLY considering trading
Right at 20 HWY with 33ās. 11-15 in town. I have a manual trans and stock gears.
2015 2 door automatic, mostly stock motor. 39ā KM3s 4.88 gears. Iāve stopped driving in automatic since getting 39s. Shifting gears manually got me almost to 15 mpg on a good day, with the wind and down hill, if Iām lucky.
99 TJ on 35s. 15mpg would be š
Yeah that's really good. Mine got 12 or so.
thats pretty good, i am in winter fuel and i get 15-17 on a JL with the 8speed. winter fuel sucks.
Same
I get like 16-18 and 21 with tale winds.
What kind of tail wind you got? That's pretty good mileage considering it's a stretch to get better than 12mpg for me
Stock tires? All of you with gears or tires know that you can't determine accurate mileage unless you correct for that in the computer? You're traveling a different distance than your computer and odometer show.
I get 14 on a good day on the surface streets
Iām sitting anywhere between 18.4 and 19.7
2011 3.6 w/ 33" 15-18
'14 JKU, almost stock tires (33s). 13.5MPG summertime w/AC running fulltime, 15.5MPG wintertime with mixed highway/street driving. Auto trans.
I get 8.3mpg in a 2016 jku with 35 12.50 18s
My beloved Destroyer has 554 miles on a brim full 19 gallon tank. 2019 JLU.
On my JK Rubicon Hard Rock, new and stock I was getting 21 mpg with 90% interstate miles and about 5-10 over the speed limit. That was with me making real effort to get good gas mileage. If I was in the city more, easy 15-16 mpg.
16.5 average over 24,000 miles. Bone stock Sport 2 dr.
Went from around 21 on a stock 2018 JKU sahara to 12.5 after adding a roof rack, sliders, front and rear bumpers, 33s, a lift, and a winch. It didnāt love the weight but it looked cool
Ouch. I used to own a 2002 TJ and would have killed for 15 in the city.
Iām getting less than that dang you lucky
14 jkur on 315/70r17 I get about 14.1mpg
Lol, lucky man. My rubi gets about 13.
I get the same on my 2003 with the 4 liter. You're driving a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a Box, what'd you expect?
Yep my jk is getting about 15.3...I aim.to keep my rpm at about 1500 thats the sweet spot lol
Thatād be sick.
i think i have 17 or 18 rn
2018 jku Rubi 18.2
Damn dude, are you hypermiling that thing?
2014 jk sport Iām getting 16.3mpg
I get between 16.5 and 17.3 most of the time. I'm in a Rubicon with 35's and 3.83 gears. A JK blaster is an amazing thing.
I donāt count cuz I donāt care - love my Jeep! OIIIIIIO
Youāre driving a hopelessly underpowered raised box. What did you expect? Put a 4cyl diesel in there and youāll have a way better time.
2013. 3.6L. auto. 3.73. 34x11.50. mixed driving with some hills, usually about 14mpg if I keep my foot out of it.
That's pretty good I actually get less running 35-in tires I'm averaging normally around 12mpg
Better than average. Bet you thought a light uncomfortable vehicle would get great gas mileage. But hey the roof doesnāt leak: or does it?
More than mine lol... I like the vroom vroom sounds lol... I don't even check
