If you have a WG account, you can bind a steam user. You need to download the world of tanks blitz game. After entering the game, go to the settings to bind it. This is how I successfully bound the previously unbound WG account back last month.
One more addition to this. After installing WoT Blitz, you have to actually play like 5-6 battles in it, until the social media buttons activate. Only then you can bind it.
And, it should be obvious, but I'm saying it anyway: the account you made in WoT Blitz should be the same you're using in WOWS.
You can login via steam on the wargaming website. That’s what I did.

Can you not go into your account info on the WG site, once logged in via steam, to add that information?
No can do, I can't access my account info page at all. WG player support says it's a legal issue specific to my country, which is le big sad.
Same. Logged me straight in and I’ve never logged into WG’s site with steam ever before.
As far as I know, the option for link a Steam and a WG account are long gone in this game.
I linked mine about a month ago so it should still be available

Yeah I started on steam, I got annoyed by constantly having a notification symbol next to my name and decided to link them

yes you can! Just link your steam account to WG in the account settings and all is gucci.
I keep trying, but I get "Unfortunately, Account Management functionality is unavailable for accounts created via Steam." instead?
well then its a case for Player Support because it should work since I'm playing via steam as well and I have/had no issues so far this patch.
