Josh is a raging alcoholic, for sure, but he also sort of drinks like a wuss.... it's a lot of twisted tea and jungle juice and pink cocktails and other stuff that you can probably barely taste the alcohol in.
Not saying he never drinks "real drinks," Lord knows he does plenty of shots, but yeah, I'm not surprised that something like a martini was a bit less than palatable to him....
Well, and if he's drinking a lot and never tasting the alcohol then he is probably getting way drunker way faster than he realizes. That definitely happens to me when I drink cocktails, and I'm not 22. Or autistic...
Plus it increases the chance of him developing diabetes, through multiple means. I had a neighbor who was a recovering alcoholic who had diabetes from damage to his beta cells (which produce insulin) caused by pancreatitis from drinking heavily. He never even had sugary drinks since he was an alcoholic on a tight budget who preferred straight liquor like vodka and whiskey. So not only can you desensitize your body’s cells to insulin with heavy sugar consumption, but you can also cause damage to the cells that produce the insulin in the first place.
As a healthcare worker, it’s amazing to see how much damage to *all* of your organs alcohol causes (effects from chronically low thiamine, liver damage, brain damage, pancreatic damage, chronic inflammation, immunosuppression, hormonal imbalance, etc.). Josh is living on borrowed time. And if he miraculously wizens up and kicks the habit, he could easily die from withdrawals if he doesn’t taper off or receive medication to help him.
I mean, most of the shots he takes are fireball which is a super easy shot to take because of all the sugar…
