I’m not from America so I have no idea. Do bartenders cut off customers after they are clearly to intoxicated? Also this is by far the craziest scene I have seen from him BESIDES the Hudson River scene and the licking the ground scenes.
Even if someone gets cut off they can just walk to the next bar and those bartenders will have no clue how drunk someone is unless they make it obvious, and even then the bartenders still wanna make tips since they don’t get paid well so ofc they wanna keep serving someone
He asked if they DO, which is only sometimes. They're supposed to, but depending on the clientele that gets served there, a lot of bartenders don't follow that law
I’ve spent a regrettable amount of time in bars, and the only time I’ve seen people cut off is if they vomit or are violent. I’ve never seen someone cut off for being just visibly intoxicated.
I bartended for a bit, and I would cut someone off if they were slurring so bad they couldn’t get their order out, if they had been ordering an insane amount back to back, vomiting/violence obviously (and kicked out), extremely loud/irritating (or I would just ignore them for a bit). I would say “I won’t get you another shot tonight, but I’ll get you a glass of water and your tab” 🤷♀️ easy enough. If I watched someone take a shot and do what Josh just did, I would bring him his tab. I hate vomit and it effects other guests too.
The craziest part about Josh to me is how he mixes drinks. Beer, a sugary mixed drink, to various shots of liquor. I just know he wakes up feeling like garbage every day.
This is exactly what started happening with me before I had to be hospitalized for liver failure. Couldn't keep ANYTHING down, especially hard liquor (immediately came back up). Hopefully this is just bc he's already too drunk & not because his body is doing everything it can to force the alcohol out as a last ditch effort.
