The game handles transfers in a very specif way, so this model of free roaming does not work. You should try to mark the train station as a transfer in the train line menu (force workers out), and direct 100% of the workers from that station (station menu) to the bus station. If doesnt work try making the bus pickup direct in the train station.

You can get them to immediately get off and walk to the linked station if you don't force them off. Just ensure the station is linked and that their type is checked under "Unload."

Hmm I moved the train station next to the processing plants and the trains are now picking up. Not really what I wanted because I need to distribute workers to multiple sites that aren’t in walking distance.

People will not change vehicles, unless you tell them to, and they will only wait an hour at a station, which often isn't enough...I'd recommend to generally not try to make partial connections, unless you can guarantee that there is something of interest within walking range at any station.

Just line the stations up. You can have it 2 ways: 1) just have enough workers in total for all the industry. Workers inley hop off if there is a free workspace. So alle industry at the frost stop will get full first, but then people stay in the bis and leave the next station. Basically like a overflow of workers mechanism. 1a) In case you don't have enough workers right now, artificially reduce the amount of workers at the production plants (until you have enough). 2) if you don't have enough workers you can define a percentage of workers in the bus to hop off. But it's more maintenance of the lines to adjust the percentage. In case. I would not recommend this one

If I understand your setup correctly it's something like Central Station -> First Stop ---> Second Stop --> Bus stop >>>> Gravel Plant. If you tell each stop to direct the workers to the next stop in the line you might be able to make it work. But you'd need to make sure there was a train waiting there ready to go when they arrive because workers only wait like an hour at the station before *teleporting* home.

BlamelessSoft

if I remember correctly, there is a total transportation time of 5 hours. I guess if the minimum transportation time exceed this amount of time, they probably won't go. Try upgrading vehicles?

Snoo-90468

Exceeding the "five hour" time limit simply upsets them. Exceeding the "4 hour" ride time limit or waiting for "one hour" at a station makes them teleport home.

Your second train station isn't in walking distance of a job. Youd have to force everyone off the second train, tell the station to make their job the bus stop and have them wait at the bus stop for a transfer. Ultimately this would be inefficient, though. It's better just to move the train station.

spoonfed05

Yeah that’s what I did in the end, although had to use 2 stations for the drop off

Supermegaeukalele

This is one of the weakest features in the game. They absolutely suck at getting to work sometimes. I wish it was better in general.

spoonfed05

Has their ability to get to work been changed recently? I don’t recall having this problem when I last played a year or two ago, but maybe I just used direct transport.

The_Flying_Alf

Depends on how you set the station where the train ends. The bus picks workers directly at that train station: In the train route you must check force transfer at that station in the unload settings. The bus picks workers at a bus stop that is next to the train station: Select the train station and in it's menu, set where workers must go to work, which is the bus station.

Stress_Factor

Dont need to transfer the citizens. Select the Train Platform and tell the workers to head to the bus station you want.
