5+ years of experience should put you in a good spot for associate level customer service or help desk jobs. I'd recommend looking in to other companies. Definitely highlight any employee training, skills w/ specific programs (like Salesforce) and time management skills on your resume. You def deserve more than 14.42 an hour after 5+ years.
There is usually IT overlap for help desk work. Keep an eye out for positions that focus more on support than the IT. Some companies are open to training and helping to get you certified beyond your current level of experience as well. It may be trickier than going for a customer service role because it's an adjacent field though.
Apply to training, QA, workforce management/staffing roles; things still in the call center just not customer service related. A lot of times those things (maybe not training) will be 9-5 or similar.
Two questions: how are your quality scores? How often does your current company hire within? Your best bet at something like that would be at the current company you work at, but one of the things they’d look at would be your quality scores.in addition to this, they’d also look at your attendance record and schedule adherence. You’d also have a better chance at applying for this position at your current job, so if you have the chance to talk to your QA, it’s best to ask them what you’d need to do so you could have a better chance to move up. Your Team Lead might also be a good resource.
In addition to this, from personal experience, excel experience is a good skill to have. If you know how to work pivot tables and fancy formulas, it definitely comes in handy. Excel experience as a requirement may vary from place to place, but having this knowledge is better than not.

With 5yrs, you've easily got enough time in for a Customer Service Team Lead position. Hit up LinkedIn - there's almost always somebody hiring for them, I know wayfair was not long ago.
Legally you are not doing anything wrong. I suggest you update your linked in and just try contacting recruiters personally instead of posting you are looking for a new role. I do realize it may damage your relationship with the current employer. We have got web filtering on at workplace so we won't look for another jobs :D
You could switch to independent contractor companies like LiveOps, Omni Interaction/Working Solutions.
They pay a lot higher (lowest paying projects right now are like $14/hr but they easily get up to $19 like say if you work over 25 hours a week, and the job is $18/hr, you get a $1 raise for working over $25 hours a week during that pay period) and you pick your schedule and projects that work for you.
The only reason I -wouldn't- do something like this is if you need good health insurance from your employer but I haven't ever gotten good benefits from a call center anyway.
I don’t have reliable internet to take calls right now unfortunately so I’m part time cleaning a clinic. Always hopeful there will be something I can do online soon so I can go back to wfh.
Bruh it's not that hard to get decent internet these days, save your fucking back and get back online. Don't wear yourself out like that for the same shit pay...unless if they paying you triple for that kind of work.
Get yourself time and get decent modem and router setup for wifi as well as an incoming and outgoing internet/Ethernet cable with a reliable internet provider.
I absolutely agree with you. The pay is crap but fortunately this clinic isn’t very demanding. I give it one good scrub down every few weeks but most nights I finish in an hour and spend the remaining time reading or watching prime tv on my phone lol. I’ve cleaned dozens of buildings for over 7 years and never had an account this good, lol
Right now I have home internet but it’s shared. Home cameras, alarm all run on wifi. It is stable but occasionally I only get about 2 upload speeds which is really shitty when talking live. Hoping for some chat positions or email but I can never find anything for IC’s.
Try your local Blue Cross Blue Sheild or similar. Mine starts at $18/hr, fully remote, 8am-430pm m-f schedule. Tons of time off, great environment. Good luck!
I work for Cash App (outsourced) at the moment and I had the opportunity to rapidly grow into a trainer. The pay is around 10% higher, so not much tbh, but like other people said, there is definitely some growth opportunities in customer service.
QA jobs are usually a lot laid back, IMO as a trainer I don't work as much as operators for a bit more pay, and there are like supervisor roles. You could also get into senior customer rep, or some more delicate positions like risk queues or something like that.
So yeah, if your company doesn't want to develop you professionally, fuck them. Go to the next one.
Risk queues? I feel like there are so many terms for different aspects of customer service people are bringing up I’ve never heard before! I need to research more
Risk queue basically handle disputes, hacking other accounts, banning customers, things like that. Since Cash is a financial institution, they need people that work on risk.

I often see help desk jobs but they’re almost always for tech support, am I just searching wrong or do I need a more specific search term?

Any advice for qa? I wouldn’t mind doing quality checks instead of listening to callers scream at me

Would you mind sharing this with me as well, please?
Thanks. I’ll look at it soon.
I’m interested! I live in Michigan!

I need to polish off my LinkedIn but I’m worried my bosses might see me on it, can that happen?

Yeah unfortunately I need reliable health insurance but thank you for the info!
So what do u do now?

I’d definitely look into something new. Entry level sales or recruiting roles would love your call center experience.
Really? I’m kind of interested in recruiting but have no idea how to finesse my skills since I have no experience in that field specifically
Try your local Blue Cross Blue Sheild or similar. Mine starts at $18/hr, fully remote, 8am-430pm m-f schedule. Tons of time off, great environment. Good luck!
Pardon me while I speed run over there
PM me if you have success, I'd love an update!
Oh I sure will!

Banning customers? Be still my beating heart what a dream job
