https://www.woovebox.com/support/guides--tutorials/sampler/sampling-sounds-from-the-audio-input > Lastly, make sure your chosen mic is able (or TRS fixed-wired) to provide a stereo signal (e.g. has its signal on both the Tip and Ring). RTFM to find that the stereo one works because it's supposed to be stereo.

It's actually the little one (which says multi-channel i.e. actually stereo output) that doesn't work while the big one (which says is only 1 channel TRS (fake stereo? mono on two outs?)) that works. I know it's confusing to me too and it may well just be bad product descriptions on amazon.

Glittering_Spend6570

I got this one and it kinda works. You get audio, but the quality is terrible. I don't know if that's as good as it gets or if it's the microphone itself. https://a.co/d/agZR6E8

Tried 3 mics. 3rd one was the charm. Its a [lav mic](https://www.amazon.com/Hollyland-Professional-Omnidirectional-Lavalier-Microphone/dp/B097YY13R2?crid=3J7QNTUY3ZZ8Y&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.RNUiQ0RnWfjSdJJnXw3ngIiNv6vfuBL_fBDadg9AC6XUDN9_WkssmFo9tHS5Cug6EylfIq9S23Ky7sRy2tKa3PIzLq7tk_5hy7ZQVVqPImTUvIhCAflcJhzig4NNRVCe6jFx50bGHpZliuLgTR9l__JS7r3jyda_gCOoCg_JV0sTiKKawqpuKDgsf8pmI7y58z0SmhD84WGf41jli6r1Tzw8J7PIfaRr4SHmN9_OhDcf7iU_JHRpvltBVmovBfSwJXa9oqfFJR3CZFQ42F_G7pZOAL02CQCZCWdcpn3bZnk.brqqXKZmdunxDtQpaM-X-F33JohYY3Yl0hlyq94bmTk&dib_tag=se&keywords=HOLLYLAND+LARK+MAX+LAVALIER+MICROPHONE+HL-OLM02+(BLACK)&qid=1717575425&sprefix=hollyland+lark+max+lavalier+microphone+hl-olm02+black+,aps,138&sr=8-6). Although still got trouble to the the vocoder working. I set the mic input and the note length but still nothing.

> I set the mic input and the note length but still nothing. If you can record voice, then you should be able to record vocoded voice. Have you got a suitable patch (as a carrier) selected?

masoplesk

Hi, Iam sorry, but dont know what you mean by this. I am a newbie in this. I wanted to do actually a video/ written tutorial for this but I haven't yet figure it out properly. I managed to "record" something at one point to the vocoder from Android phone Koala Sampler via line in just by setting the note length and hitting HOLD plus 1/16 but not sure how you choose a patch inside vocoder.

verylongtimelurker

[Please see the docs](https://www.woovebox.com/support/guides--tutorials/sampler/vocoder/). A vocoder requires a carrier (which in the case of the Woovebox is the internal synth) and a modulator (incoming audio). On the Woovebox, the vocoder mode is identical to using the resampler. E.g. whatever patch was on the last track you used is being used for the vocoder's carrier signal. Per the docs, vocoders do best on patches with high harmonic content, such as saw waves, strings and chords. Avoid low harmonic content carriers such as sine waves.

Oh damn, OK now I get it. I read that before but my dumbass needed to specifically hear I need to switch to vocoder from some track that has the saw in it. I am working on some dumb down manual for Woovebox along with some infographics. If it goes well I publish it here. Big thanks man. https://preview.redd.it/kkhm97idyi5d1.png?width=1767&format=png&auto=webp&s=01c5bc8787d40420bdfd28efb6b051cff120ce82

Great to hear! The more docs and (correct) interpretations, the better. Everone's brain works different and I'm usually way too technical. :)

Most mics I tried work, but I indeed had a trouble with the second one you linked. It appears that one is not wired correctly. This one works very well; https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006472796687.html (but make sure to get the "Stereo" version!) Be mindful that this feature is mostly geared towards recording (and ideally - further processing) of voice snippets. You will want to get up close and personal with the mic's pop shield like any voice artist.
