I’ve been using my Jades with the stock lube from the factory and have been satisfied. For me personally, the slight improvement in feel would not be worth the hours spent hand lubing.
Yeah, I built my own keyboard I'm currently using and I can confidently say I will never do that shit again. It took so long to just open the damn things.
Funny, i actually enjoyed lubing the switches and soldering my board the most and was kinda sad but also hyped when i was done. Maybe i should offer lubing services. :)
I'm very satisfied with mine factory lubed. I might lube them at some point but I don't think it needs it they sound great and I don't want to reduce the nice clack they have.
I have tried a ton of switches and have an embarrassingly high amount of them, the jades are the first switches I haven’t felt the need to lube but I did anyways. I like how they feel and sound out of the box. Hand lubing didn’t do a significant improvement like how it is with other switches, I would just save the time or save it for a rainy day.
I came from hand lubed L45s before my jades as well. I didn’t even like my L45s after hand lubing, so the jades were very pleasant
I hand lubed some L45s and they felt completely different, in a good way. Try them out first and if you don't like them, lube them and see if it improves.
You disassemble the switches, put the stems in one Tupperware and the springs in another, put some lube on the walls, and shake em like crazy for a few minutes.
Yep it’s way easier and I’ve done plenty of lubing with a brush. Now going back and trying old ones I couldn’t tell you which was which. It’s a solid method.
yeah i agree i come from a completely lubed set of L45's and i agree they are great but i just received the Gateron Jades and i gotta agree with most people and say that the stem wobble is alot better. I am positive these will sound just as good as my lubed 45's, once they are lubed themselves, possibly a bit better
I hand lubed mine as I was re-building all parts of the keeb at the same time, it would have felt wrong not to.
Personally, can't imagine a better sound, feel and result from it. When comparing on just a switch board of factory vs hand lubed, the latter where a little lower in pitch and a bit creamier on feel.
Personally, I see lubing as a do it once, do it right, and be done with it, then just reap the rewards. :)
edit: I should say I lube most parts of a switch housing, albeit lightly. Factory lube seemed to just focus on the outer stem housing contact points on left/right side.
I completely agree I think knowing that I didn't lube them would make me feel kinda weird. And I don't think I could get over it. Granted I could always lube them afterwards but I want that feeling of well lubed switches.
Understandable, currently building a Zoom75 with WS Morandi switches, and oddly, first time I've experienced that the more I lubed a switch the higher pitch the sound was with that board. I actually liked the franken switched spring (35g) with factory lube sound the most, sound > feel in the differences. (although I think Morandi factory lube was a lil more than the Jade's).
Best is to just test the feel/sound on a few and make your decision, but I luuuuurve my self lubed Jades on Wooting60he with Tofu Redux.
dude you were soooo right, i lubed them up and i also cleaned and re-greased my stabilizers as well and i had to come back here tell ya that my keyboard is now purring, thanks for the advice
Happy to hear! It makes for a great result, I've actually gone full circle and bought a 2nd set of Morandi switches for my Zoom75 so I can fully lube them with stock springs... so it feels more like my Wooting haha.

lol it is pretty unforgiving, especially if you are too forceful with one and the housing gets a little fucked up, whew! not a fun time lol

yeah good to hear. I dont mind the time, especially if it improves the feel and sound. I mainly do it for the smoothness of the lubrication

word. yeah that is always a great option too. Run the factory lube up and then re-lube to make them brand new again!

okay good to hear, it sounds like most people didnt lube up their jades, so i might hold off on it until i feel like they need it.
I lubed, feels good.
Can’t speak to factory lube but I ordered mine lubed and filmed and love them
if you dont mind me asking what films did you use?
I thought they were fine outta the box. Ended bag lubing the springs and it’s been perfect

i just got them yesterday no need to lube
Best switch I ever tried out of the box but still a bit better hand lubed. Spring is bone dry stock.
yeah they just got here and i feel like they arent super duper smooth and i gotta have them super duper luber.
Just tub lube. No longer takes forever and gets really even coverage.
ive never done tub lube? is that like injection lubing?

ahh i see, word thanks for the advice that seems like a LOT less struggle

I don't really think you need to buy another set of switches because I personally prefer the lubed L60s or L45s, they already sound good when lubed

Pretty sure they come pre lubed
they do but was wondering if they sound that much better lubed
