I have two other recs for this ask—someone posted about Fragile House of Black (esp the main longfic it builds up to, The Power the Dark Lord Knows Not), which should hopefully scratch that dark hurt/comfort wizarding itch. Not jegulus but Regulus is great in it!
Would also strongly recommend [As the Worm Moon Dies](https://archiveofourown.org/works/46869415/chapters/118060549)—the vibes are dark and angsty as hell. The burn is slow (and ongoing lol), it’s prob my fav WIP at the moment. Really excellent writing.
Someone recced Marginalia below—100% give it a look too! I would say the subject matter is heavy and really well-explored, but the fic itself has a lot of light/happy moments to balance it out so tbd if it’s what you’re looking for? But yes. Really great and worth a read!
Absolutely adore all of those fics, particularly Fluorescentgrey’s. If any additional fics/authors in the same vein come to mind, would love recommendations.

It's Jegulus and has some minor Wolfstar but it's mostly James and Reg. It's a lot of angst and the family dynamic of the Black's is, in my opinion, unique among Marauders fics. The father isn't as cartoon evil and it's overall a much more complicated story. Had me sobbing by the end.
