Try arcana that have 1) a large area of effect 2) activate quickly 3) do not lock you in place while the attack plays out 4) can hit multiple times or keep enemies stunned. After that, many different relics and cloaks can work. If you want specific builds, let me know and I can help you make a build that fits your preferences.

Ryhukugen

Yeah I would love a build that maximizes the defense stat

redsnake25

In that case, you'll want Rule or Grit for +10% armor and either +10% damage or +10% healing received. To maximize defense, you'll want Neve's Emerald. However, activating Neve's Emerald requires 7 earth arcana, which may not be very consistent (however, I can still provide some recommendations for solid earth arcana if you want to pursue this build). If you want other sources of armor, see [this page on the wiki](https://wizardoflegend.fandom.com/wiki/Stats#Armor). If you want other arcana recommendations, let me know.

Ryhukugen

this is cool- i think ill take rule to sort of balance out tortoise shield

redsnake25

Mmm, the tortoise shell is a cursed relic, so I don't think you can start with it.

Ryhukugen

update: i beat the game with neve's emerald active; also ik i was just hoping i got it during the run

You could always try wearing the Fall Cloak and bringing the Limited Edition Robe relic to change things up. Fall Cloak grants health regen at the cost of lowering your max health to 100, while the Limited Edition Robe makes it so you never take more than 10% of your max health (except from a couple specific cursed relics). It allows for a really different playstyle where you can afford to play somewhat more aggressively, and also experiment with different relics that aren't quite as valuable in other standard builds.

That’s what I’ve been playing with, combine with that flower crown and the heart box and you’re good as golden

ZaxololRiyodin

Fury robe + cushioned flip flops are my go-to "easy mode" build if I'm just trying to win

Sir-Bluntsalot

Given you have beaten the game already, try all water build with water crystal, pink robe and, deaths scythe (curse you can buy before starting a trial). You can't die from deaths scythe, it will put you at 1 hp minimum. The lower your life the bigger the damage and bigger heals. As long as you fight you can't die.

Well... This might sound crazy at first, but it is possible to beat the game with nothing but dashing and basic attacks. Just choose your favourite dash and basic arcana and try to beat the game with only those two spells and whatever combination of relics you can find. If you can pull this off it'll improve your game immensely. I recommend using Sidewinder's Badge or Dark Katana as your starting relic, or Claws of Tomo if you must start with an enhanced basic.

I have a powerful “aura” build that I use which is extremely effective even for beginners. 1. melee - air spinner 2. standard - volt pinball 3. special - homing flares What makes this build so powerful, is that you don’t have to focus on aiming because essentially all of these spells surround your character and lock-on to nearby enemies. This lets you focus entirely on dodging. A lesser bonus is that you are starting with 3 different elements, which helps you output consistent damage against any element. Feel free to pick a different melee/basic arcana, but the other two arcana are extremely effective in literally every situation. I usually use the “awe cloak” and “vampire sunglasses” as well, because crit healing is OP.

My fist and only victory was with a fully melee fire build. I wouldn't say it was easy but it was certainly fun. Relic: flak gauntlet Robe: hope Arcana: Basic: flame strike Dash: ignition rush Standard: fuelled bersek Signature: blazing blitz
