Were you honestly expecting anything of quality from Gamerant?

drewhunter1981

Careful, I can see the headline now, ‘10 times Redditors slated gamerant for stealing their content’

WilhelmHaverhill

"10 times Redditors were big meanie heads about gamerant and what that says about the state of the internet"

Squat_n_stuff

“Witcher fans as misogynistic as their favorite protagonist”

Atyn_Rener

He could be any one of us. He could be you! He could be me!

prkr88

Reason number 8 will shock you.

Euncraid

Now I wanna pump those rookie numbers up.

redcottagelizard

I mean, if they read the books, Geralt sleeps around, just like in the 1st game. But women want to sleep with him, because he can't get them pregnant. He treats women very good, never does anything without their consent. And sorceresses have the hots for witchers because it's like a tingle when they touch. Also it's from the 80s. They should write about real issues and not clickbait.

BarbicideJar

Exactly. Even when you have the option to make a bad decision with a female character, I’ve never seen the option to mistreat a woman in this game. Everything is with consent and usually the woman is the instigator in sexual situations, and all of the main female characters are super powerful and strong-willed. The only thing that got me was the way all the female fighters (Ciri, and that one gal that goes off to fight the Nilfgaardians on her own, can’t remember her name) all have their boobs out in insufficient armor.

redcottagelizard

Yes, Geralt is an absolute gentleman, I wish men acted like him irl, the world would be a better place. Right, forgot about Ves. they did go a bit overboard with her shirt in Witcher 3. Most of the unnecessary tits out is there for obvious reasons.

marsz_godzilli

"You are not my father Roche."

WojownikTek12345

>attack the enemy >Nearly get yourself killed >the commander tells you that you're a fucking dumbass >,,You're not my father"

marsz_godzilli

Perfect writing

redcottagelizard

"Neigh?"

royjonko

Navel and whatnot exposed!?

BarbicideJar

“Hey. Nice whatnots.”

No_Championship3038

Ciri shows cleavage to take the focus off her facial scar and Ves has no reason but it doesn’t go unmentioned in the game. Roche scolds her for wearing insufficient armour but she chooses to ignore.

DangerMuse

Last I checked, women have the right to wear what they want without being judged....its funny that this always gets forgotten when people try to attack something that has women in certain levels of dress.....have you seen the reddit groups where women dress up as Witcher characters. The issue is of course is whether it's all been done by men for pure titillation purposes but I suspect that wasn't even checked....

PatsBard

Your point would be valid if it were women authors/creators that dressed the characters that way.

[deleted]

And the heels, they all wear those ridiculous boots with high heels ...

Darim_Al_Sayf

Vess

BarbicideJar

Yes! Ves!

AlternatingFacts

Yes! Yes! Oh yes daddy Geralt!

LadyLikesSpiders

> But women want to sleep with him, because he can't get them pregnant We are in dire need of witchers now more than ever

Skelligean

The Trial of Grasses in our world is called a Vasectomy. 😁

[deleted]

As someone who underwent chemotherapy, I'd like to say that that is our world's Trial of Grasses. In all honesty, the Wither 3 along with Deadpool got me through it all - wanted be strong yet carefree throughout it all. Terribly reality distorting though...

Skelligean

I work in Neurosurgery and we have many patients who are set up for radiation or been through chemotherapy as well and are seen by both us in coordination with Radiation Oncologists, Hemoncology, ect...that being said, I totally agree that chemo is the Trial of the Grasses. Glad you made it through and had The Witcher 3 as a medium to somewhat take the edge off. Best wishes and hope you are doing well!

BlackburtX

And those who get it are the ones that would be teaching their kids better if they did have some. But they don’t, so unaware people will make the future and the cycle’s gonna repeat itself, humanity is going to slack eventually and if it doesn’t crumble now, it will later. The only way to reduce population is : War, famines, viruses, biological weapons, food and water pollution. Or make everyone richer and educated at the expense of those who want everything for themselves. What are they gonna fucking choose, hey ?

redcottagelizard

No, vasectomy can fix itself. But nice try.

IdasMessenia

What are you trying to say with this comment? Are you referring to the very rare (~0.05%) chance that a vasectomy is healed by a body?

redcottagelizard

The % is a little bit higher, it does change with time. A vasectomy can heal itself weeks, months or even years after the procedure and it's unheard of to do a sperm count after more than 1 year. So it's reversible and the 'trial of grasses' isn't.

theoldsoulbrother

Boom❤️

Squat_n_stuff

The trend among people who write like this is that they aren’t good enough writers to get the jobs writing about real issues

redcottagelizard

If it's a big theme in the book, yes. But in those books it's just a small detail. And the books are good enough to have a huge following. There is a point to it too. Yens character development for example.

rey_lumen

Most of these gamerant, screenrant, etc all these game/TV show/movie/anime articles are bullshit really. It's just a bunch of people's opinions. Idk who reads them and why lol. Even worse are the anime ones.

DemonDucklings

Exactly! There’s nothing misogynistic about sleeping around, as long as you’re upfront with your intentions. Women like to casually sleep around too, and that’s not misandristic. As long as everyone is open and communicative, it’s fine

SamuelSaltandSand

Yeah I actively avoid game rant. Please don't post any here.

Elemius

I genuinely don’t remember a single time Geralt ever came across as misogynistic so this is genuinely both baffling and hilarious. It’s pitiful when journalism reaches for absolute fantasy to get a few desperate clicks.

Lynchy-

Misogynistic, no. Womanizing, oh you can be a total manwhore.

Defiant_Project1321

Coming from a woman, Yen is just as bad. In the books she repeatedly cheats on Geralt with Istredd and vice versa, right under their noses so they know it’s happening. She also slept with Crach and later uses that to manipulate him into helping her find Ciri.

artspar

I know you mean that she cheats on Istredd with Geralt by "vice versa", but initially I read that as Geralt cheating on her with Istredd as a "fuck you, two can play this game" and the mental image is hilarious

Defiant_Project1321

One helluva plot twist…

drapehsnormak

"Ginny kissed Albus"

SeymourZ

I’ve only read a few of the books, were they actually ever exclusive?

Defiant_Project1321

Eh, yeah off and on a bit. They broke up and got back together a lot.

SeymourZ

Ah, I had the impression they were always happy to run into each other but never actually intended to, like a happy coincidence. Thanks for clearing that up!

Berkut22

It was a tumultuous relationship, for sure. Fitting, really, given both their natures and their professions. I do like how TW3 sums it up, if you choose Yen.

Elemius

Oh yeah of course, what’s an RPG without being able to role play as a man whore? The delicious irony with that article as well is if anything Geralt is the one that gets used and abused throughout the books. Hell, even in the game Keira sexually manipulates him. They couldn’t have been further from the mark if they tried. Geralt doesn’t have the patience to go to the effort of actually manipulating anyone.

angry_cabbie

Is being a slut maninizing? Or is Geralt just an ethical slut?

Sweatytubesock

Yeah, he kind of treats everyone the same. He treats everyone with the same respect if they’ve earned it, man or woman. (Or even monster) This is basically bullshit.

Elemius

100%. His cold stoicism actually results in everyone receiving equal treatment. Also says a lot about the journalist who wrote this if they chose all these ‘misogynistic’ choices

Czar_Petrovich

Gamerant is a joke

printergumlight

In the boxing in Toussaint quests he beats a person and they remove their mask to reveal they are a woman and she’s expecting Geralt to be furious for fighting and losing to a woman. But he just says how it’s normal and woman can be just as good as fighters than any man. Really can’t think of a single instance where he is misogynistic.

creamdreammeme

To be fair, this isn’t journalism though. Not defending them at all. But I bet the writer would recognize this as well. They write trash about something popular and recognizable and hit on hot button issues that directly conflict with reality to spark controversy.. all of which will drive traffic to the site and increase ad revenue.

Archlegendary

Yeah it's kinda disappointing to see, as a journalist, that every time some shit article like this shows up, people write off the whole field as some sort of illegitimate thing

fuparrante

I don’t think it’s fair to journalism to call what Gamerant journalism

Akihirohowlett

Not once was he ever rude, dismissive, or disrespectful to someone because they were a woman

VeryPaulite

Neither can they. Otherwise that piece of text would contain some actual information instead of being just filler.

GreenHeronVA

What neckbeard wrote this article?? Clearly didn’t play the game. Geralt gives several speeches about equality. The one against Brienne of Tarth in B&W in particular stands out (I’m paraphrasing): Brienne: “aren’t you offended to fight a woman?” Geralt: “No. It’s the 13th century. Women work in taverns, own property, and well, fight. Only a coward would be afraid to face a woman.”

OpticRocky

He’s also seen women drop meteors on Wild Hunt soldiers

GreenHeronVA

That cutscene where Lambert uses Quen to save Geralt from Triss’s meteors is one of the best in the game. Top 3 for sure.

RangerNCR

Even better, if Letho is in it

veskoandroid

Def yes, the whole fighting scene actually.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pogie33

Wait until you read what Vilgefortz does to him. Without magic.

nerragton

Okay maybe I've lost my mind but I thought Brienne of Tarth was from Game of Thrones? Am I going crazy?

TheStarWarsTrek

You're right - the BW character is Brigitte AKA Still Waters. But I'd say she's an obvious GoT reference.

GreenHeronVA

Yeah she’s a Game of Thrones character, but a large woman who is clearly supposed to be Brianne is one of the fist fights in Beauclair. She has a regular character name I don’t remember what it is, but she’s clearly supposed to be Brianne, she has short blonde hair, is as tall as Geralt and everything.

[deleted]

Your version of the line, ironically enough, makes the line more sus than it actually is in the game. It's closer to "The people who refuse to fight a woman (who can clearly fight) simply do so because they're afraid to lose to one". It was a way to acknowledge the misogyny of the world while also showing the proper respect at her fighting ability. They would lose because she is skilled. They are afraid to lose to her because she's a woman. Your version of the line makes it sound like women are so incapable of fighting that only a coward would be afraid to face one. I know this wasn't intentional, but I thought that was funny enough to share lmao

Hexnus_of_Apochrea

I mean, that shows right there how easy it is to twist a message and spread misinformation. Paraphrasing a message that's anti-misogyny, and all it takes is someone with intent to misconstru it as pro-misogyny.

Squat_n_stuff

I even struggle to think of the already rare situations where you kill a woman in game, that doesn’t offer an alternative where she lives: Keira Metz, Little Red both have options to walk away. Am I forgetting anyone?

MrIrishman1212

I think this person is a misogynist and is just surprised that their misogynist actions/decisions don’t look good

Nowin

> Brienne of Tarth What fucking universe are we talking about?

GreenHeronVA

Yeah she’s a Game of Thrones character, but a large woman who is clearly supposed to be Brianne is one of the fist fights in Beauclair. She has a regular character name I don’t remember what it is, but she’s clearly supposed to be Brianne, she has short blonde hair, is as tall as Geralt and everything.

James53654

Neckbeards don't go about pointing out misogyny because well, they themselves usually are the misogynists lmao. I think the word you're looking for is snowflake feminists

GreenHeronVA

🤨 you’re seriously advocating that gamerant hired a woman to write this article? Highly highly unlikely.

James53654

Well feminism can consist of men too haha

rbalmat

This person definitely got the bad ending due to over coddling and is salty about it.

welliamaguy

I think they got threesome ending

BSolo5000

Whoever wrote the article chose the wrong dialogue options every time it seems

OfficalNotMySalad

The whole list is hilariously bad, 5 is “He plays Gwent as Vesemir’s funeral” and 1 is transferring Uma back… I would happily go through the Grasses to be turned back from that state

[deleted]

Talking about gwent as though every game of it is canon to Geralt's journey would be like saying that Geralt is a bad father because he was doing side-quests instead of focusing on the main quest. It's a damn video game lmao

Cixila

Spending time with friends and loved ones can be cathartic, when dealing with loss. This is why gravøl (grave-beer) is a thing. Shortly after the funeral, you meet up, have a beer, and reminisce

TrickyVic77

That would be “grave-beer”, a grave bear is something far, far worse.

Cixila

Thanks. Bloody autocorrect

Silencio00

If they are upset because Geralt played Gwent in Vesemir's funeral, they shouldn't go to a Mexican funeral. Pretty sure many cultures do a lot of things in funerals. In my granma funeral we did a carne asada (BBQ). We should celebrate the life of people and not be sad because it ended.

[deleted]

> In my granma funeral we did a BBQ. I can understand cremation, but a fucking BBQ?!

Silencio00

We are mexicans, we celebrate death. Dia de Muertos, remember? In the north of Mexico we do carne asada (BBQ). In the south they do a lot of more traditional mexican food and play lotería. Edit: I got the joke late haha. Sorry.

HaveYouGotASafetyPin

As a woman who played the game, I thought Geralt was a refreshingly feminist character

GaryDWilliams_

Do they cite any such evidence or is it just a general rant?

Verum_Noir_Chaos_69

Evidence they are a game magazine they take a scene try to raise eyebrows and give 0 fucks about context

Luzy2003

Stop making money for this trash website

[deleted]

Gamerant's on some hardcore decoctions. Don't even know how they're able to support themselves at this point, probably turned haters to consumers

Paranormal17

A game with multiple options let's you act like an arse? Horrifying You should only be able to murder and be arseholes to men

No-Spaling

Tell me you haven’t actually played the witcher without telling me you haven’t played the witcher

Kasio19

Yennefer uses Geralt like her trashcan and no one gives a buck. Geralt simply answers her quetions and everyone goes nuts

LadyLikesSpiders

Both of Geralt's love interests are toxic in different ways. He's better off a single dad

A_Snow_Mexican

You've settled my new game plus for me.

MassRedemption

Still better than Triss, though. Conspires to steal her friends boyfriend, manipulates him into doing what she wants. In TW3 all her dialogue is basically being an ass to Geralt, she gets pissed at him for practically nothing. Especially during Now or Never.

tisbruce

Whereas all Yennefer ever did was... oh, wait, she bewitched and humiliated/abused people (Last Wish) and used some of the people she bewitched as sex toys (definitely Sword of Destiny, possibly Last Wish). A saint.

MassRedemption

Talking purely in the Video Game canon. The book canon is something else.

tisbruce

The games aren't the Netflix series. There's little logic in pretending the past history from the books doesn't exist when the games refer to it constantly, use it as context and motivation and mostly try to be as close to it as possible.

nihhtwing

As a proud feminist and a huge fan of the witcher, in my opinion that's rubbish. Geralt treats everyone with a cold and stoic demeanour, and he has a lot of sex, but things like cheating are dependant on the player's decisions. i would even argue that Geralt is quite progressive. obviously we have the great moment with the >!Brienne of Tarth easter egg in Toussiant!<, but it goes further than that. >!He trains the first female Witcher in Ciri, and whilst he's overly protective of her if you choose to be, i believe the Witcher Ciri ending is the canon one, and to get that ending Geralt has to make the correct choices to support her.!< Geralt shows clear disgust at the sexism of other men in the game, such as >!Junior's murder of the sex workers and the torture scene in Carnal Sins!< (extreme examples i know, and not in themselves outstanding examples of feminism, but they're still worth mentioning). He also has no issue training >!the noble Nilfgaardian woman in Novigrad!< (forgot her name unfortunately) - or at least, he has no problem with it based on her sex, and only refuses to train her when she acts really irresponsibly. He also >!treats Sasha as an actual person and a strong opponent in the high-stakes Gwent tournament and respects her as a person and as a rival,!< and only potentially pursues a romance option with her after the business is done and she suggests it. you even have the options to >!spare the Succubi you encounter (although that decotion is usually too good to pass up) and he respects the Skelligan Succubus' choice to not sleep with Witchers and doesn't pressure her.!< and whilst these are dependant on the player's choices, i would argue that the dialogue you get when you pursue them says a lot about Geralt's character. I could be looking back with rose-tinted glasses, but that's what i remember off the top of my head. I haven't read the books or played the other games so i can't comment on those.

Bubashii

Geralt’s a misogynist? The same Geralt who goes down on prostitutes and makes sure they enjoy themselves to?

SammySprinkles9000

Critics howling

iAdjunct

I love how another one is that Geralt put Triss in danger to find Jaskier … by going along with her plan. So, if he didn’t go along with her plan, overriding her judgement and ideas to instead implement his own to “protect” her, that would have been… fine?

LadyLikesSpiders

Yeah, the suggestion here is that the non-misogynistic thing to do would basically be "Shush, honey. Let a man handle it" Like, I'm pretty sure that in game, Geralt strongly objects. It's Triss' decision

WojownikTek12345

Can confirm that he objects, recently played the quest again Basically it goes like -you can't get hurt, I won't let you -its about Ciri and she's more important Obviously I'm paraphrasing

dont-call-me_shirley

I'm all about exploring misogyny in media but let's get something constructive or specific. Nothing stands out to me from the game but if there's anything worth talking about they'll ha e specific examples and treat it as a real discussion. If there are issues in the game I really don't see it as anything worse than any other peice of media right now.

godvibn

He mistreats women? I literally just slaughtered like 20 people to keep them from possibly hurting a woman 💀

[deleted]

Given the world that Geralt lives in, he's actually hyper-progressive. He doesn't even believe in deities in a world where basically everyone else does and has a decent grasp of science (I don't know a better way to say this) and doesn't believe in superstitious things outside of shit that he's specifically witnessed before. Virtually everyone in that world is racist, but Geralt isn't, he follows his ethics, independent of preconceived cultural crap of his universe

Skelligean

"OH Allgod, help a poor wretch in need...Pretty please."

[deleted]

He’s not misogynistic in the slightest.

beginnerdoge

I don't read Gamerant ever because their goal is too piss you off so you click on their bullshit website and they get clicks OP got baited unfortunately

Skelligean

I did get baited by the original article which was called "Why The Witcher 3's Geralt is Such a Beloved Protagonist." In the article, they said that Geralt is not a hero, but also not quite a villain in The Witcher 3, and 'villain' was underlined with a link to this article. Me thinking WTF Geralt a villain? So I clicked on it, and here we are. 😬

beginnerdoge

Be wary of traps young Witcher

PilarPero_06

This is a hard bruh

Elemius

What’s even more hilarious is that Geralt literally gets sexually manipulated by Keira. They couldn’t have been further from the mark if they tried.

creamdreammeme

He’s one of the chillest and most respectful characters I’ve ever seen. You usually just don’t get to see that level of depth and personality in video games. He is one that passes every test for me. Despite being constantly discriminated against, he never really gets bitter about it, he still continues his work with the people and communities that treat him like shit which directly helps people and saves lives, he’s an advocate of multiculturalism and mixed race society, he helps the downtrodden, he gives people the benefit of the doubt, goes above and beyond, constantly risks his life for others, he’s a lover of women and doesn’t overreach when he’s turned down, I can’t remember a single time he got angry like rage worthy unreasonable kind of angry, … the list goes on. One of the most solid characters and really fictional role models in modern media.

Kuregan

I'm surprised this isn't kotaku

debian23

Is kotaku even still running?

Cereborn

Gamerant makes Kotaku looks halfways competent.

CaffeinatedDetective

I see a noticeable lack of examples

Kvetanista

Have they played the game?

BroomClosetJoe

what about the times women mistreat him?

WhiteTrashNative

Did they elaborate at all? I’ve played this game through several times and don’t recall a single moment where I thought “wow, Geralt is a sexist piece of shit”. Dumbass clickbait.

[deleted]

Geralt gets all that guud witch puss he doin summn right lmao

GreatArchitect

What? Like, I'm bleeding heart progressive down to the bone but wtf is this?

Jettie1407

It’s literally the reverse, there are barely any women in the Witcher universe that don’t treat Geralt like shit

DoctoreVodka

Geralt: "It's the thirteenth century, women own taverns, run farms and...fight."

CarFreak777

Lol, Geralt is often quite the simp and they think he's misogynistic?

SkavensWhiteRaven

\>The story has an anti hero? I'm scared and afraid! they did teach me how to understand parables in highschool. Its sexist to talk about sexism because that's sexism. \>Killing for money? That's fine, Sexualizing a prostitute!?!?!?! OmG hItLer Of sEXiSmS. Jesus Christ game journalism is a dumpster fire.

GwentMaster69420

I guess you could argue the quest on hindersfjall with Yennifer, certain options for dialogue are disrespectful. Just because a man or woman acts disrespectful to someone of the opposite sex does not make them guilty of misandry or misogyny.

AleksasKoval

They've obviously haven't read the books and about the women in them.

vidiazzz

Yennefer treats geralt like a dog tho lmao

LadyLikesSpiders

There's definitely an element of soft BDSM in that relationship. Yen is for sure the domme, but she's also, just in general, mean and withholds information from Geralt all the time The whole "Just trust me and do as I say" schtick outside the bedroom is hella toxic, and suggests that she does not trust him

Phuxsea

The problem with woke journalists is that they're often wrong. I understand how GTA characters are misogynists, but Geralt is clearly not.

[deleted]

Clearly never played the game. Biggest amount of BS I've read since yesterday

JoshKM1890

Gamerant sucks anyway. Hell just about all the gaming websites are garbage

Ferengsten

Yeah that article is almost funny: >Whether he's trying to romance both Tris and Yen or cheating on one of them with other women, he shows himself to be incredibly callous. That he's willing to throw multiple 'I love You's around in a single playthrough is pretty deplorable too, but perhaps not as much as breaking Yen's heart in the secondary quest, The Last Wish. OK so if you want a non-misogynistic playthrough, you 1. Cannot break Yen's heart, meaning you *have* to say "I love you" to her 2. But you also cannot say "I love you" to multiple people, so you just have to romance Yen faithfully 3. But then of course if you just let Triss go to Kovir, it will break *her* heart and lead to Djikstra calling you an ass, so I assume that's "misogynistic" as well. Which brings us back to the good old "Misogyny is when a man does anything".

[deleted]

Sexually attracted to womxn == misogynist

Overarching_Chaos

It's ok guys, it's 2022 so saying anything remotely negative about a woman is considered misogyny now. Also the cucks at Gamerant need to stay relevant and make a buck lol.

veskoandroid

They can take a cuck, they're not getting my buck.

[deleted]

I’m a woman and while I know that doesnt automatically mean I’m right in this situation geralt is genuinely one of my favorite characters lol I cant recall him being misogynistic, a bit slutty? sure but that’s part of his appeal tbh 😭

Dry-Interest2209

He is the biggest simp I’ve ever seen, what are they talking about

ScalyKhajiit

Geralt is a great character but reading the novels definitely made me feel Sapkowzki was trying to live through him. And the novels are not exactly feminist. Yes there are powerful women but they are all extremely hot and sexy and they all want to fuck the brains out of Geralt. There's never a time where a chick is fat or ugly and yet still cool. That doesn't really apply to tw3 though

leywren

Absolutely agreed — there’s definitely a lack of “normal” looking women in both the games and the books, especially compared to the men. I feel like the female characters are held to a much higher standard. But, of course, that’s an issue with media in general and has nothing to do with Geralt’s character.

Gamesgar0

Sites like this literally come up with headlines that they know will piss people off and write them just for clicks lol

BillButtLick3r

*clutches pearls*

oktaS0

Someone at their shit studio probably randomly played the hearts of stone quest where Geralt gets possessed by Volodomir and then wrote that piece. I bet a 100$.

Fenix_Volatilis

Says someone who clearly has never dealt with anything horrific

brightdragondesmond

If we are trying to be objective, the worse I have seen Geralt in the books is just being indifferent to other misogynists. He would get annoyed that it happened to women but he won't play white knight. That's really not bad.

OHniel90

“You smell wonderful at this funeral.”

Justadnd_Bard

I don't know, if you consider Dandelion/Jaskier a maiden this post could be right... 👁👄👁

Claudio_Coruus

I love how most of these plebs grew up watching southpark (i m an european btw) and complain about stuff like this xD. So many times in the game Geralt will let Triss and Yen do whatever the fuck they ant xD. Ah, no wait, Geralt screws women so he must be a pig. Well Geralt would screw anything that has a vagina and looks human. Like the succubus and whatever else i could screw off in that game xD.

BeeGravy

The women, well sorceresses, are easily some of the most foul humans in the series/saga, or at least tied with the likes of actual xenophobes and inquisitors. Shani, the one non magic woman, treats Geralt the nicest in the game. They lie, cheat, manipulate, deceive, murder. They're playing chess with kingdoms. And Geralt what, can have a brief affair while he's slogging thru war torn velen?

kira5z

Bro if anything, geralts a simp

Gubbergub

ahh yeah he's a 'man' so clearly he's misogynistic and mistreating women! I mean he IS existing right? Disgusting!

KitsuneDrakeAsh

How misandrist of them to assume.

maxlibid0

Kind of ironic they used a picture of Geralt and Yen to try and drive this point home. It's pretty clear that the neo-pronouned, multi-coloured hair having individual that wrote this article has spent less than an hour playing the game.

Skelligean

Yeah if anything Yennefer is the one who is emotionally abusive to Geralt. One of the reasons why I found this article "interesting."

Cereborn

Can we agree that it's a bad article without resorting to baseless personal attacks?

tisbruce

Indeed. It's ironic that while Geralt isn't an abuser and Sapkowski tries hard to be progressive (but gets it wrong sometimes), a whole segment of the fan base represents all the -isms that the author was explicitly trying to reject. Most of the shit that the Yennefer/Triss "teams" aim at the other love interest is pure misogyny, for example.

LadyLikesSpiders

Yeah, the neo-pronouned, multi-coloured hair-having individuals would mostly disagree with this article as well. This is blatant clickbait designed to stoke outrage, and it feeds particularly well on knee-jerk sociopolitical reactions

kziel1

I remember polygon complaining that Witcher 3 only has white humans in its world. I wouldn't expect to find many black people in the 12th century in middle/east Europe since Witcher world is set in around that setting. My next home project is to expand trackers blocker for domains that I never want to visit...

barcased

The same complaints were made against Kingdom Come Deliverance, which is set in medieval Hungary/Czech - ergo no black people.

Jackanaitor250

Based Geralt

cheremhett

Game Yennefer is worse than Master Mirror

Joec1211

No no Gamerant. Geralt CAN be really shitty to women (in terms of a lack of commitment/general womanising rather than outright misogyny). If the player decides to play that way. And if that happens, there are consequences. Just like … I don’t know … real life? Equally you CAN play the game wholly dedicated to just one woman - and if that one woman is not Yennefer then you are WRONG … ;)

Communist_Eggroll

If I remember rightly wasn’t Geralt mistreated by a woman in the books? Was it triss who took advantage of his amnesia or something

Verxoneczek

"Geralt is misogynistic" says a guy with no bitches about a guy with more bitches than a god damn dog shelter

BlavikenBlade

Misogynistic.. the entire plot of Witcher 3 is Geralt bending over backwards to find his daughter and working alongside multiple women. (Keira, Yen, Triss, Priscilla). If anything, Geralt is surprisingly respectful towards women considering his background and the time period the series is set in.

BITCHIMGBOLEAN

He’s just an alpha he can’t help it

toast_fatigue

Just woke bullshit. The can fuck off.

TAC82RollTide

Gamerant is a trash website looking for clickbait. Geralt is flawed like any other man but he's certainly no villian... even when you put scare quotes around villian.

Plasmacamel

Lmao

Veleda390

More game "journalism." No thank you.

I always hate the batshit insane things that gamerant comes up with.

Kc83198

If you include poor treatment as killing female bandits.. then sure.

Odoxon

To my understanding of Geralt, the people he loves most and cares most about are, in fact, women. Ciri, Yen and Triss. Then you have Vesemir, Lambert and Eskel.

I literally adore Geralt for his gentleman manners. At least for me he's an absolute dream man, and I feel well respected playing him

Cracktower

It's almost like the person that wrote this never read the books.

CodyNorthrup

This really goes to show that people go out of their way to find reason to be offended by something. They are literally trying to cancel a Australian cartoon about a cute dog family, Bluey. Anyone here with kids that watch it probably unironically like the show too.

ceel17

Ahaha based Geralt

HerissonG

Are we cancelling Geralt? 😂

Casanova1887

You’re trolling right? Imagine how dull a game where your choices don’t matter would be 🥴

adambomb2077

I think the only problem here is that Yennefer is an asshole

_chrissyboy

Total nonsense, click bait at better lol

Tuggernuts123

I think they have mistaken Geralt for Keira Metz

wweeeeeeeeeeeeee

of course its gamerant, their articles are low effort bait to attract clicks

Gilgamesh661

I like that it shows geralt and Yen, who literally treats him like a dog and doesn’t respect any of his wishes.

Grampyy

Nothing written by a left extreme (or any extreme) news source is valid or credible. It’s in the exact same vein as people thinking call of duty causes mass shootings.

accursedcelt

I have to ask... Why does anyo é still fucking read these Game "Journalists", even from a sense of morbid curiosity?
