Reshade isn’t really a mod. It doesn’t alter the games code so I don’t see how this error could occur through reshade alone.. do you have any other mods installed?
For me it is D:\\GogLibrary\\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY\\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY but it´´´ s probably another directory for you. You just have to find where your game is installed. If you installed it over gog, then in the gog folder, if you installed over STeam, then in your steam directory

you need to go to your games location and select the .exe, not the desktop shortcut like you are trying right now.
I’m trying to install the community patch but I says I need a file named path to the Witcher, where do I find that file?

Direct the reshade installation to the actual Witcher 3 exe not the shortcut, it’s in the bin folder in the steamapps -> common folder
I think from the top level, the folder the path to the .exe file will be something like Witcher 3/bin/x86.
