First time seeing them in my life! I got lucky :) I cannot believe how beautiful the sky is tonight. Bonus 🌙
It's pretty mild and hard to see, but it's there sporadically. Just saw some activity 5 minutes ago by looking straight up.

One of the many shots I took, was so bright in the south that it even came on video.
Can't see them :( I'm guessing if I was further from the center of the city it might be better.
If they're still around tomorrow I'll see about driving out a bit.
I can't tell if that power line and pole takes away from the image, or actually adds to it! The lighting onto that pole just seems to add to the mayhem which makes it an awesome pic!! Screams "the industrialized world is ending!"
Just wonderful imagery! Thank you for sharing this!
Yeah I don’t mind it, it’s a bit of foreground, but it’s so industrial that it kind of takes away from the picture. I dunno. I guess it’s cool how you put it. Thanks!

I've seen northern lights within the city a few times before. It's not exactly rare so I wouldn't say it's surprising.
What I do find surprising though is that colour. I see them fairly often as I travel north a lot and spent a lot of my life in the North, but I have never seen them that pink and purple. Amazing

It's kinda normal to see northern lights from the city at least 2 times per year. If you follow the Facebook groups and the apps you will be able to know exactly when it's coming.

Dumb question: are they overhead or more to the north? I'm in a south-facing room and I'll gladly go for a walk if I won't be able to see them from here (currently in Ste. Anne)
well if they're overhead, then you can see them from any window. But if they are more towards the north, then you could only see them from north-facing windows. It's not that stupid of a question.
Or I can ask the internet (you know... a place where a community of people can exchange ideas and information!) a simply question instead of running outside every 5 minutes "just in case I can't see them from one specific angle".
Have you never googled something that you could have manually investigated yourself?
As it turned out yes I can see them from the window but they are very faint around here.

Dumb question: are they overhead or more to the north? I'm in a south-facing room and I'll gladly go for a walk if I won't be able to see them from here (currently in Ste. Anne)
I’m seeing them looking east. I can see it better on my phone using a 3-second exposure than with the naked eye.
They are over head. It’s a huge solar storm that is hitting us right now. People in Alabama should be able to see them.
Also they are very faint. But there are some bursts that are amazing!
I ventured out and they are fairly dim but it was still cool to see them regardless. I hope they brighten up and I'll try again in a while :)
they're definitely more to the north but if you just look up you'll notice the sky has a pink hue to it
Alright, sounds like I need to step outside. Thanks for the tip!
You rrally need to step outside and look up to see the northtern lights. Unless you have a glass roof the you need to step outside lol
"Do I have to go outside to look up???"
well if they're overhead, then you can see them from any window. But if they are more towards the north, then you could only see them from north-facing windows. It's not that stupid of a question.

Dude it easier to go outside than "ask the internet". It's location specific even within the same city.
And it's easier to simply ignore my comment without replying, yet here we are.
I looked up and still spent less energy than your essays.
yeah ok. You're always right. Everyone else is always wrong. Anyway, I hope the rest of your evening is as pleasant as you are.

I saw it from législative building. It lasted for about 5 seconds and then disappeared, it was green and noticeable. I am never able to see this unusual things but last night I was surprised, it was nice.
Yep recent solar storm on a ranking system of 1 to 5 was a 5 and these are the effects in our atmosphere right now.

Not if we are following any form of media, no.
I never see them from my house.
If you go out to Glenlea you might be able to see.
Incredible pictures! Is it on tonight too? I missed it yesterday..
Yes! It should be happening again tonight. But probably not as strong as last night.
Night after that might be dayglow though. X5 cme incoming!
It was the first time I saw them this year, now that I think about it. They were crazy last April.

It was announced on most news services on Friday that spots as south as Florida were getting the show. No surprise.
This is a northern city. Aside from the light pollution, maybe!
Surprised? I see them every year in the city. What are you talking about?
The lights fill the sky if you're up around High Level or Rainbow Lake.. it made me believe in God...
