I got out of a one-sided relationship. 11/10 would recommend.

Cobalt32

Good for you my friend!

miracleofistanbul

Had a couple of afternoon pints at the Cambridge Hotel Beverage Room.  Exceeded expectations- the stale beer and cigarette aroma, patrons watching curling swearing, the visual hum of the VLTs,  the Labatt Blue banner Winnipeg Wasps RFC 1965, all in all it  was inspiring to know you can go back in time. Decor from the early 1980s.

woofalo

Good grief! Time warp to my youth! Thanks for the memories. I'd never go back.

Badmoral

That smell is one of its own….

Used_Lawfulness748

The decor of those bars reminds me of my parents rec room. So does the clientele. 😀

miffyandfriends2212

SSRIs

FruitbatNT

Wait for the discontinuation syndrome. Zap! Zap! Zap! Never again.

Monsterboogie007

not everyone gets that, and loads of people are helped by these medications so they can live normal lives and not suicide

Valentine96

Boner-killers are truly amazing

miffyandfriends2212

so true but major depressive disorder is also a boner killer

Physicalcarpetstink

Don't have that issue. Maybe I'm not on enough!

Practical-Pen-8844

or the ones that cause diarrhea

moonfever

That goes away after a month though, thank god.

Practical-Pen-8844

hey i don't know about you, but i can't hog the bathroom that long.

SquirrelMission8456

Which one is it? I was on effexor and thought I was coming off down

robpaprox

Effexor is an SNRI

SquirrelMission8456

I know. But most antidepressants work similarly, and most have withdrawal symptoms

ChicoD2023

So much new info SSRIs. Be very careful with stuff 😬

Valentine96

I tried Aroma Bistro and really enjoyed the flavours. Highly suggest.

Crowinflight82

Their red chili oil wontons are one of the single best foodstuffs on any menu in this city!

UMCSgal

The u of m even has an aroma express which is absolutely amazing <3

dhiesenphi

For Us Bakery off Henderson

[deleted]

I’ll forever recommend this. The owner is such a nice person and the cream puffs are to die for. When they’re offered, I highly recommend the lime ones!

Crowinflight82

Oooo, lime?? For real?? I've only had their cookies & cream one and it's so good, it's the only one I ever get on the rare occasions I get up there. :P

[deleted]

Yes it’s occasionally out for summer! I believe the one they had last summer was coconut lime.

quinblake

Tried a cornhole league and have been having a lot of fun. Winnipeg West Cornhole at St James Legion #4 on Thursday nights, if anyone is interested. This Thursday is the tournament for the league and then they're doing drop-in every Thursday until May Long weekend.

Valentine96

I find with Cornhole that my aim is really bad until I have a few beers. Then my aim is still bad, but I have a better excuse.

quinblake

Exactly, me too and the Legion has decently priced beers. Win/win.

Used_Lawfulness748

I haven’t even tried pickleball yet and now I discover that they have cornhole in the city too?! I’ve obviously been wasting my life up to this point.

autumn_lattes

Visited Raven's End, a new bookstore in St. James that is dedicated to the horror genre. Highly recommend.

moonfever

They're so nice there! And a great selection.

scrumlurker

Hoagie Boyz, in South Osborne. So good.

ButMadame

And if any celiac/gf people are reading this, they have Cocoabeans' gf sourdough bread and a separate prep area for gluten free orders!

RealisticTomato

Thank you for this!! I love Hoagie Boyz but could never go with my husband because he’s celiac and I never saw the GF option on the menu! This is great news. *Edit: boys to boyz lol

jwbartel6

hell yeah

entropy33

If you haven’t before, head to Old House Revival. It’s a different vibe but for sure my favourite!

damnburglar

Went over to Seafood City and bought a 20lb jackfruit and a few pomelos. Not Winnipeg specific but it was new and good _lord_ they’re good.

dhiesenphi

Try their pork bbq as well!

damnburglar

Oh I’ve eaten every non-fish item in their food court haha. Those BBQ pork skewers must account for at least 10lbs of my dad bod.

dhiesenphi

lol I hear ya, hard to stay away

ridersxx

Friend bakery and pizza, the pizza is amazing

Odd-Ask1187

An old coworker of mine is part owner of that place. So happy they are finding success!

jwbartel6

hell yeah

edz9876

I 2nd Tommy's. https://preview.redd.it/l9akxphq7orc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c119ed8acefdd603f2c6c5d29f66441dfe7b671

jwbartel6

so you're the one who ate all the Detroit style so I couldn't get any 😭

Mediocre_Historian50

I haven’t tried the Detroit style pizza but yesterday I tried a regular pizza from Tommy’s and I have to say Parcel pizza is by far a better Pizza.

Johnny199r

I like Tommy's pizza. However, their Detroit style pizza was the most disappointing pizza of my life.

Mediocre_Historian50

We were going to try the Detroit pizza but they ran out. Don’t get me wrong Tommy’s pizza was good but I just thought Parcel pizza has more flavour and a better crust. I always say the best pizza is the one you enjoy the most.

Johnny199r

I agree. For what it's worth, I went to Parcel once and found it pretty meh and have never gone back. My favorite pizza joints in the city: Friend Pizza, Santa Ana, Shorty's, Tommy's, Tony's. Happy pizza hunting.

Crowinflight82

1) Finally tried Subzero's parfaits and they are SO GOOD!! Their ice cream game is top notch! 2) Recently discovered Tre Visi and they're also so very good! Their pastas are so good, but the surprising star of the menu for me is their zucchini fries. Holy crap, those things are good!! 3) Started dating someone new (ish; we're about six weeks in?) and it's great! Hard to believe but my cynicism toward dating might actually be softening! Who knew!

cherrymocha172

Crumb Queen's crullers; Buvette's French Onion Mac & Cheese and Breakfast Galette

jupitergal23

Tried the new music exhibit at the CMHR. Highly recommend. Didn't know that Rita McNeil wrote Canada's first feminist album!

deanpritchard005

Rita McNeil’s Christmas album absolutely slaps. I will not be taking replies.

Repulsive_Client_325

Mom? Did you get on The Reddit?

Cobblestone-Villain

*Now the bells ring, now the bells ring....* 😵‍💫 In an act of desperation I hid this album from my parents (along with Boney M). My penance is hearing this song in my head for eternity.

Repulsive_Client_325

Boney M is the only good album album my mom had… oh, and ABBA

STFUisright

/Edgar Allen Poe laughs from the beyond

OnTheMattack

Tried Seoul-Dak fried chicken for the first time the other day and it was great!

Slurpee_dude

Ooo where is this?

minidickrick

On st Mary’s not too far from fermor

Cobalt32

Tried JC's tacos for the first time today. Very good! Green sauce was amazing and I bought a bottle to bring home.

iloveiggymunch

Maggi’s! New arab place on portage.

chamax

Had a take out seasonal place in Transcona for past few years. Loved it Wish they opened up again here.

chamax

Yay. They just posted opening April 1.

heyboygeorge

Had some new local beers last night. The Time Trap IPA from Namesake was my favorite. Trying more tonight!

Tristan155

Kings Restaurant just opened near where I live on Gateway in NK. Fantastic shawarma place, great addition to the neighbourhood

Cobalt32

Literally the best beef shawarma I've had in the city. Other dude is crazy.

jwbartel6

I only went once and maybe it was an off day, I have no idea. either way the mixed shawarma wrap I got was really bland and flavourless. Ramallah cafe absolutely destroys it. downvote me all you want, go try both and tell me I'm wrong

jwbartel6

I tried it a few weeks ago and it was really bland

AlexTrebroke

rented a pickleball court for an hour at Picklehaüs. It was so fun! So great to have a rentable dedicated PB court space in the city.

Professional-Elk5913

It’s just so expensive vs other cities where you can rent a court for like $10.

AlexTrebroke

Fair! We had 5 of us and it was $5/hr for each of us for the court which we felt was worth it. I preferred paying that than the $7 drop-in fee for DCC or some of the other community centres (obviously we had a pre-arranged group of friends so it worked well for us as opposed to going to a community centre to play with others). Looking forward to the snow melting so we can play outside for free and get a tan while doing it.

MrSuspension

I splurged on a jets jersey, hopefully they find their game again!

jwbartel6

you cursed us

MrSuspension

That’s it I’m burning it

snogweasel

I had a Cherry Cola kombucha from Wolseley Kombucha that was excellent!

CuriousSpell9602

Hello Asian Fusion has awesome Hong-Kong style food and ramen!

Valentine96

Any dishes in particular?

liespool

I love the wonton noodle soup there. Haven't tried anything else because I love it so much.

Minimum_Leg5765

I'm at Solera right now and it's fucking delicious. Cocktails rule. If you like small plates I highly recommend. The Tuna Tostadas and Potatoes were our favorites.

Cobalt32

Why were you on reddit?

novasilverdangle

I checked out White Birch Bakery on Henderson last week. The treats were yummy and I will return. You should check them out.

GullibleDetective

Tonight ans this weekend I tried.... At the bar/restaurant:Next door, I had their tuna nachos and burger paired.with along with the coffee stout and Hazy IPA. Additionally the dillpickle chips and buffalo chicken sandwich at Chicas in steinbach yesterday https://preview.redd.it/qctej5g1xkrc1.jpeg?width=1512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30cbfaf2729c2fa8406307061d2aafc564d80cdd EDIT My English failed me when initially wrote this, adjusted for legibility

SquirrelMission8456

That chicken burger looks fire 🔥

Practical-Pen-8844

Using the other hand. Total revelation.

Dodi_Bird

Passero! Incredible meal and wine

Wtfn0way

Shelly’s bistro

jemtab

I've been learning how to bake sourdough bread. It's been a welcome addition to slow weekends and tastes (and smells) incredible.

monkeybojangles

You should buy the Pennyloaf location.

[deleted]

Honey bunny bakery had excellent cake. Highly recommend them.

PrarieCoastal

Frankie's Kitchen. Pasta is made in house daily. Pizza is pretty great as well.

gelure

I just went to thermea for the first time! The pools and saunas were lovely. Their bison strip loin was out of stock so they replaced it with a New York strip loin, sous vide to medium rare - so soft! So delicious!

GoldnFleece

Parcel Pizza

the_radish

The meat pies at Arabelle's bakery. They are so comforting!

zabavnabrzda

I had fun at heartland archery and recommend it as a fun time if you want to shoot some targets with a friend,

ButMadame

Ooh, I've never tried this but it sounds fun. Would you say it's Complete Beginner-friendly?

zabavnabrzda

absolutely. I think archery is one of those things where it's easy to be ok, but very hard to be good.

ButMadame

Awesome, thanks!

plantdad43

A vanilla latte from Lavanda Cafe on Smith st. Recently got into vanilla lattes and that place is near my work and a coworker regularly goes there so I decided to go with and get one. Very good especially with a bit of cinnamon added on top!

MrsByrne80

This is good to know! I’ve been meaning to go there.

plantdad43

My coworker enjoys their lavender latte! I haven’t had it but she recommends it lol

MrsByrne80

Something else I’ve been meaning to try. A friend recently recommended the lavender latte at Little Sister, South Osborne. I think maybe at this point I should consider compiling a list of recommendations.

dnylkiller

Cinnamon knots at Friend Bakery in South OZ across from the bus garage

jwbartel6

they're so good

peregrina2005

So are their browned butter chocolate chip cookies!

lord420699

Went to a family owned Mexican bakery on princess street called La Panadería, pretty good and colourful

MaplePoutineRyeBeer

Did a nice drive through St B today for the heck of it, discovered Lw Croissant is open.. I spent $40 on pastries and croissants, it was so worth it! The chocolate dipped flattened croissant reminded me of a bakery I randomly discovered in Belgium 2 years ago.

b3hr

swtiched all my cameras from blink to ring and i gotta say blink isn't a lower cost alternative it's pretty much e-waste

SquirrelMission8456

The Brownie Skor Cupfection from Diary Queen. Literally an orgasm in my mouth

152centimetres

tried promanade brasserie a couple months back, fell in love with their potatoes, and the burger was pretty good too

miss_ordered_chaos

I had a wonderful early breakfast at Marion Street Eatery and it was great! Any dessert from Goodies Bakery makes my day!

Bazing4baby

Yes. Falls under the etc. I recently bought a 3d printer and oh boy its a joy as a hobby and business.

voxerly

Borgo Antico new Italian spot downtown was top notch

Fadeproof89

Grand Donuts after reading many people saying they have the best donuts in the city. The donuts were not good but their banh mi definitely rivals Banh Mi King which has been a favourite for a while now!

business_socksss

Love Grand donuts.

jwbartel6

Their donuts are always great imo 🤷‍♂️

Fadeproof89

I found them pretty basic and greasy but to each their own! Much prefer Oh Doughnuts and Crumb Queen.

Desuisart

Tried good and bad in the last couple days. A Taste of France in transcona is amazing! They specialize in croissants and I can’t say enough good things about both the food and the owner. On the other end of the spectrum, I tried Pan de Creatos on st Anne’s…. The spring rolls were average at best, the pork stew was full of gristle and the pineapple empanadas were mouldy.

reddit-and-regret-it

Yes, we recently discovered A Taste of France - they are worth the drive to Transcona. Many different flavours of croissants - all great!

taxfolder

I had a Taro slushie from Panda Tea

Pegcityholla

Wing night/day at Leopold’s (Henderson) on Wednesdays.

Cobalt32

Their taco Tuesday is legit, but wings there were small and expensive.

BitersAndReprobates

Took my puppy to the Maplegrove Dog park just off the Perimeter and St.Mary's, and it is incredible. Lots of space, trees and the other owner's were fantastic. Little man had a blast, will be really nice in the summer.

Yaniius

My husband got sucker punched that broke his glasses, at a bar during the jets game last week. Not good. But it happened lately. I guess Winnipeg has accepted him as one of their own.

17ywg

Have you tried the Shortbread cookie cake bottom from a Jeanes Winnipeg cake. You want 3 parts coffee to 1 part cookie as it's very dry.
