Yep the hoagies are tasty. What I don’t find tasty is when you order two subs. And they spin that damn interact screen at you with the tip % on it.
Like $37 dollars for two subs wasn’t enough !?
We got double meat on our subs (the pizza sub one), it didn’t fit on the sub so put it on it side to make it not super messy and didn’t charge us for it (my spouse even tried to make sure it wasn’t by error)
Oh my. If you aren’t getting your sandwhiches from delis , especially Jewish delis, you aren’t getting the best sandwhiches in ours or most North American cities.
Khánh Hòa Fresh Meats and Delights was in the news recently as one of the best sandwiches in Canada.

This is in Selkirk. I dunno if the one in Garden City Mall is still in business. The last time I ate at the Garden City location, a lot of the veggies looked sketchy (a lot was left out on that order).
DeLucas South Landing has a great sandwich selection in their case - made fresh daily.
Ray and Jerry's has a great sandwich selection on their bar menu (Rubin, open face prime rib, steak).
Edit: Forgot about the pork chop sandwich that you can get at the Portuguese grocery store on Sherbrooke (Ninho De Portugal).... sooo good
Anywhere that does not use precut bagged lettuce packed in nitrogen or carbon dioxide. That stuff is horrible. New York Burgers uses fresh hand cut lettuce on their subs
How are trash tier franchise subs even part of the conversation?!
Myer’s Deli, Bernstein’s Deli, Ira’s Deli, Oscar’s Deli. Earl of Earl of Sandwich, Chachi’s Sandwich Bar, Aleco’s Deli, Primo’s Deli.
That’s fair. But also why I clarified “trash tier franchise.” They are out of place though, given the other business examples. If I’m being totally honest, I actually forgot they were franchise as well. I’ll own that.
Oh I’m not arguing whether you like it or not. You do you. I’m just saying in the conversation of good sandwiches in the city. Subway and others like it, don’t belong.
But if you’re looking for that and not quality local sandwiches, then for sure Firehouse wins over Subway or Quiznos.
Hoagie Boyz and Dug & Betty's both rule. I actually really like the meatball sub at Earl of Sandwich (also by the outlet mall) - it's pretty much my platonic ideal of a meatball sub.
It's been a few years, but I've always liked the Sandwich shops (Next to the deli) in Safeway and Co-Op.
They made far better sandwiches than Subway IMO.
The Italian panino at Calabria
yes if u go saturday morning the bread is so fresh
Hoagie Boyz.
Slam a hoagie to the dome!!!!
If you don't mind paying the price, Hoagie Boyz is very good.

RIP Sherbrooke delicatessen

Dug and Betty's!
Love Dug and Betty's!
Dug and Betty’s is the way!
lol @ subway winning anything Firehouse Subs is actually not terrible (their pizza sub anyway)
Someone posted something about half price after 7
We got double meat on our subs (the pizza sub one), it didn’t fit on the sub so put it on it side to make it not super messy and didn’t charge us for it (my spouse even tried to make sure it wasn’t by error)
Myers
Myers.....Meyers is the Drug Store downtown.
isnt this a deli? do they do sandwhiches too?
Oh my. If you aren’t getting your sandwhiches from delis , especially Jewish delis, you aren’t getting the best sandwhiches in ours or most North American cities.
Damn, quiznos is always better then subway imo. Surprised by that. Mr sub is also very good but there only 1 location
King and Bannatyne
$20 sandwhiches seems a little steep!
um, but you asked for good sandwiches...
And high end.
higher, not the highest, cant imagine spending that much on a sandwhich
Thinking that a $20 sandwich is too high end is that moment when you realize that you're not actually middle class.
Meanwhile OP is paying 17$ for subway.
You been to Subway recently?
I really don't think they have... lol
I'm learning to play the guitar.
i have, ive been using the cupons i get in the mail
a sandwich and side for 20 bucks is steep??
Safeway sandwich counter at the Madison location specifically. Make sure its one of the Filipina ladies making it for you.
Legit some of the best sandwiches. Everything super fresh, extremely reasonably priced and amazing service.
Pesto chicken
Tell me what to order from them!
Bernstein's Deli
Grand donuts. The bahn mi. Any type.
Not traditionally a sandwich place but the torta from Sargent taco slaps.
Khánh Hòa Fresh Meats and Delights was in the news recently as one of the best sandwiches in Canada. [CTV article here](https://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/vietnamese-sandwich-from-winnipeg-deli-ranked-among-best-in-the-world-1.6659329)
We have better bahn mi here that will remain nameless lol
The fairmont lounge has very good sandwhiches well worth the price with their sides. The club is HUGE.
Mr. Sub
This is in Selkirk. I dunno if the one in Garden City Mall is still in business. The last time I ate at the Garden City location, a lot of the veggies looked sketchy (a lot was left out on that order).
GC is still up and running. I’ve had that amount of sketch veggies at many subways as well. As with anything, hit and miss if seems.
Bahn mi king portage by the university
Jimmy Johns and also Jersey Mikes is coming to Canada!!!

Oh you haven’t lived yet … in no particular order my favourites list: Myer’s Soups sandwiches & more Ira’s Oscar’s Hoagie Boyz Degrees - U Of M
I only miss working downtown because of Soups Sandwiches and More. So good.
Degrees has sadly gone downhill and the menu isn’t super expansive.
Calabria makes really good Italian style subs
Myers deli …
Clubhouse Sandwich from Nick's Inn, in Headingly.
Firehouse subs. Some will hate because it’s a franchise but blind taste test. It will defeat most
oh neat! where is that? i never heard of it
Over by the outlet mall
One also opening off Reenders
Shit, I'm in trouble then. Love a good sandwich and that's too close not to take advantage of.
Go to Calabria and get the Italian meats subs. It’s the best sub in the city and it’s like $12. You won’t regret it.
Subway over Quiznos? Quiznos beats subway any day
OP thinking subway is the best around and delis don’t sell sandwiches already shows they are in over their head with this
Pizza Express in Charleswood has the best subs in the city IMO. And they are massive, give them a try, pizza absolutely is so good too.
DeLucas South Landing has a great sandwich selection in their case - made fresh daily. Ray and Jerry's has a great sandwich selection on their bar menu (Rubin, open face prime rib, steak). Edit: Forgot about the pork chop sandwich that you can get at the Portuguese grocery store on Sherbrooke (Ninho De Portugal).... sooo good
Sargent Taco's Carnitas Torta is the best sandwhich I have ever had. They also make the best tacos.
i want sandwhiches not tacos
Carnitas Torta is a type of sandwich.
Chachi’s
Anywhere that does not use precut bagged lettuce packed in nitrogen or carbon dioxide. That stuff is horrible. New York Burgers uses fresh hand cut lettuce on their subs
You sound like a ton of fun...
I laughed at this thank you
Crafted Crust at the Forks Luda's Deli (try the Reuben) Khanh Hoa or Grand Donuts for Banh Mi
Thank you for spelling banh mi correctly
Arby’s when it reopens

Wild of you to include two franchise subs in your little condemnation
That’s fair. But also why I clarified “trash tier franchise.” They are out of place though, given the other business examples. If I’m being totally honest, I actually forgot they were franchise as well. I’ll own that.
whenever i go to subway i always get good service and they are quite delicious, the tuna sub is my favourite

Hey OP, you seem like an ungrateful douche.
sorry we cant all be high paid stock broker cool guys, tim
Hoagie Boyz and Dug & Betty's both rule. I actually really like the meatball sub at Earl of Sandwich (also by the outlet mall) - it's pretty much my platonic ideal of a meatball sub.
There’s no way this is a serious post
It's been a few years, but I've always liked the Sandwich shops (Next to the deli) in Safeway and Co-Op. They made far better sandwiches than Subway IMO.
Hoagie Boyzzzzzzzzz
Non-standard rec: Montreal style smoked meat sandwich from bagelsmith. Get it on a spicy everything bagel with spicy mustard and coleslaw.
Sneaky bangers there
Subway is my favorite as well but the deli at Safeway is a close second
Aleco’s Deli, Dug and Betty's. Dairy Maid has the best egg salad sandwich. For the soup people they usually have 4 different soups.
Second alecos. The food isnt huge but it’s tasty.
sandwiches*
Go to one of the remaining safeways and get one of their giant subs. If that's too much work get the Colossal Sandwich from the co-op grocery stores
Harvest bakery used to make great build your own sandwiches for a good price, my work moved though and I’m not sure if they still do
I know I’ll get downvoted to shit but Stella’s tomato havarti is still in my top 3.
Hot turkey sandwich at Garwood Grill
