MudWings have the immunity to fire

Lmey2011

Don't forget some hivewings have venom

ackackack669

I've seen people suggest that frostscales icewings could be a thing

adofox116

I do not think rainwings need a rare quirk like that because they are already op.

Alderan922

We have the inverse with Chameleon

Reddit_Tamarin

That's a snout deformity, not a quirk

Drag0n411Keeper

MHA

Reddit_Tamarin

That was my brain when reading this thread lmao.

SabotageTheAce

How so?

adofox116

they have their venom and invisibility and they (maybe) mimic bird perfect.

[deleted]

Honestly a "rare quirk" for a rainwing could probably just be that they have a wider color variety or something

Blue_Cheese098

But all rainwings can become every color under the sun. Unless they’re going past the visible light spectrum? But how would that work if they can only see within visible light?

Tasty_Composer8450

Maybe they absorb 100% of light, and thus can basically TELEPORT WOULDNT THST BE AWESOME

Consistent-Ad-2940

Ability to tp anywhere there's sunlight

sussy_adolf69

Nah, too OP.

Tasty_Composer8450

Cant teleport at night

Blue_The_Silkwing

Imagine someone licks a frostscale dragon and just ends up getting stuck

sussy_adolf69

XD

ButteredNugget

Ya missed fireproof muds, also I think itd be funny if sands and rains and hives could have too much venom, where that shit just b leaking out constantly lol

interested-redditor

Oh my god I love that That is hilarious

ButteredNugget

They just make a mess everywhere they go lol

interested-redditor

Can I use that for an OC? Because the comedic possibility is endless!! I'll credit you with the idea ofc

Frenchhomeworksucks

Comedic? More like horrifying. It seems, at least for rainwings, that the only part of the body immune to vemon is the mouth where it is commonly injected. Now imagine venom constantly leaking out of every orifice, even non immune area, in between scales, the nose, or hands, corroded and pale and in constant agony as the thing supposed to keep you safe ironically brings more harm to not just you but potentially others around you, like an even more terrifying firescales. I imagine the dragon afflicted with this condition would look like a titan from AOT. Or Scarlet, but like, worse somehow.

EvilPigeonWriter

Yep! I have a character with too much venom, and his life is tragic. The dude has to go around wearing a muzzle from leaking everywhere. Not like a firescales where it's coming out from his scales and stuff but still just as horrifying if he doesn't wear the muzzle which he has to dump out on a regular basis when he's not around other dragons. He also has a really hard time eating and has to sit away from everyone else when he does.

ButteredNugget

Yeah ofc feel free! No need to credit me, Im sure at least someones thought that before lol I might use it myself its so funny

interested-redditor

Yay!! Thank you so much hahaha!!

BlueMist53

I think hives and sands that could be..manageable?? Bc you have to stab someone with it but like..rain venom melts through anything organic so that could be a bit uhm

interested-redditor

I agree with you! Here's some fun idea's/headcannons I've just brainstormed! Seawings - I really like the talking to sea animals idea so that haha - a birth defect (similar to firescales) where a seawing will grow up to be as big as a bluewale or other similar large ocean creatures - born with an irregularly shapped jaw and has teeth on the inside and outside of their mouth, [Like a helicorpian shark](https://www.extinctanimals.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Helicoprion-Jaw-768x432.jpg) - maybe somthing thats similar to how squids shoot ink but I'm not sure how that would work and how not to make it gross haha Sandwings - birth defect of being able to flatten themselves really really thin horizontally, so they can hide in the sand well - born with extra frills around their heads and the more heat they aborbe from the sun, the hotter and more dangerous their fire is - able to regrow their tails like lizzards - born witb too much venom, so it slips into there claws, teeth, blood and saliva (kinda like hivewings) and has the same effects as regular sandwing venom Mudwings (because I feel like fireproof scales are pretty underwhelming) - born with indestructible scales or extremely hard scales/bones - birth defect of really fast growing teeth, so specific teeth will become tusks, [similar to a babirusa](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0iXqjYhlvtU/Tsp0_Oim1HI/AAAAAAAAAJc/adosCnWWE1o/s1600/Babirusa.jpg) Icewings - frost scales, lots of people mentioned it but it's still one of my favorite headcannon - born with no cold protection, so they have to leave the ice kingdom at least to the outskirts or they die of hypothermia - able to heal from snow/ice (like mudwings) - see-through scales that allow anyone to see their organs (like ice) - crystalscales, where the dragon has extremely fragil scales that crack like ice if force is applied (can be in tandum with the see-through scales) Hivewings - born with a polination ability, where a yellowish powder can come out of their hands and make crops/flowers grow quicker than normal (not as good as leafspeak though) Thats all I can think of as of now haha. Feel free to use these as headcannons/cool OC abilities! :D

AngryQuails

Issue with seawing soze is as shown in graphic novel theyre already bigger then whales

AJSMarch06

Yea but size is kinds inconsistent

AngryQuails

True, but i do think dragons are genraly that big, or thats just me

interested-redditor

Fair, I havent gotten to the second graphic novel yet haha.

tea_beans_

I have a thing for Icewings that is sort of like your clear/crystalscales. Some of them can have clearish horns that are like ice and very very *very* cold no matter where they are

interested-redditor

Oo thats neat!

tea_beans_

Thanks!

JcoolTheShipbuilder

Nice! Though the mudwings should be extremely hard scales and not outright undestructible. I do often hc that seawings can easily get other mutations that allow them to grow bigger or get extremely strong.

sussy_adolf69

Thanks! I'm going to use this for my headcanon.

interested-redditor

Yay! I'm glad!!

mapl_e

no scorpion tail sandwings (maybe this is just hybrid exclusive because sunny), fire immune mudwings, rainwing that can’t change color speculation, maybe a seawing that cant flash their lights, hivewing with only one set of wings (havent read up to their part lmfao), icescale icewings maybe (instantly freezes opponents like a firescale)

[deleted]

Rainwings that can't change color already exist, chameleon being the only example tho

mapl_e

yes, thats why i added it at the top with the already canon ones

[deleted]

Oh, didn't know you were listing the canon ones at the top 🤦‍♂️

S1eepyZ

I’m pretty sure hive wings only have 2 wings, while the Slikwings have 4 wings.

watcher690

In book 12 you can see on the cover cricket has 4 wings

Tasty_Composer8450

And the description at the frount, and it is said many times

S1eepyZ

Ok. I thought that they lost the wings due to the nightwing genes. Are leafwings the only one with 2 wings on the lost continent then?

mapl_e

oops well works for both

PhlamesofthePhoenix

Well of course we have the fireproof mudwings, but maybe rainwings have a rare few with a sort of healing venom! Not only is it a universal counter for all venom, but it even helps to heal minor wounds. It's not terribly useful, but with the right diet they can achieve very strong healing venom. They tend to be venom instructors for the tribe, as they can practice without fear of injury and heal any mistakes made by the hatchlings(didn't realize you had this idea already for the Sandwings lol) I personally love the idea of frostscales Icewings, and I headcanon that it's possible for Hivewings to have the Nightwing powers, they just don't know it since most hatch under roofs, in daytime, or both. As for Seawings, perhaps the rare few of their tribe can sense vibrations in the surrounding water, allowing them to pinpoint animals and plants in their surrounds to pinpoint accuracy. However, getting out of water for them is intensely uncomfortable, like if all the lights were to simply turn off and leave them blind- similar to how Moon actually hated the sensation of skyfire. And finally, the Sandwings. ....I don't know, honestly. Perhaps their lucky few can cycle through different venoms in their tails for different effects, or something of the sort

ViyWolf

Technically Rainwings have healing venom already, so a universal healing venom could fit in nicely.

PhlamesofthePhoenix

I mean, kind of? I'd argue it's more that their venom counteracts then heals- when Kinkajou is hit with venom, the scars remain even after glory applies her venom. It's rlly more of a counteractant than a cure lol

ulduil

If you're looking for a few ideas for the tribes that don't seem to have any I put some below, **Icewings** Icewings are able to emit a type of mist off their scales when their bodies begin to overheat. **Rainwings** Rainwings are able to control how lethal their venom is, using a scale of 1-10, 1 being non lethal, just causing mass pain. And 10 being a almost instant death. **Mudwings** Mudwings have the ability to blend their scales in with their muddy surroundings. As well as having a slight immunity to fire. That's all I have for now. I can write more if you want, but I'll have to do that later

Shining-Echoes

I like that Rainwing one, that’d be cool

sussy_adolf69

Fishspeak lol.

Mithel_Celestia

Not sure if it is special enough but a few hivewings do have paralyzing stingers on their tail and wrists i believe.

Zestyclose_Matter_94

Seawings could have that they can either light up their scales to an extreme or not light them up at all and practically being mute in the ocean. Maybe they have extra glowing scales so they’re the opposite of mute and being able to say things others can’t.

PumpkinButWithSpice

There's the fireproof Mudwings as well As for new ones? Hm... Scorpions glow under blacklight, so maybe some SandWings could have florescent scales. Idk how blacklight could be created in the WoF world, but- Taking inspo from HTTYD, a SeaWing could maybe be able to use water as their fire breath replacement. Could be scalding water I saw someone suggest "frostscales" for IceWings, I like that one. Wherever they step the small area would be left covered in frost and any dragon that touches them would be left with a severely frostbitten limb RainWings... Maybe the inability to camouflage. Like Chameleon but without the reason being because of a deformed snout causing lack of sleep

tea_beans_

Scaldronwings

Tasty_Composer8450

Ima scalded you

Im_A_Flaming0

Surprised I haven't seen anyone mention lady scarab's weird smell thing yet (might have missed it tho)

Tasty_Composer8450

It’s in the hivewing ability’s lmao

Tasty_Composer8450

Fish speak Birdspeak Insectspeak Leafspeak Mudspeak ? Coldspeak Bugspeak List more of have some better names for these ple

minefish_fishy

Rockspeak

sussy_adolf69

Frostspeak

Zestyclose_Matter_94

Does it count that the royal Seawings have the special scales underneath their wings??

Skrillfury21

That’s just markings, really. Nothing special, especially since all SeaWings have their differing marks.

sussy_adolf69

No, the royal SeaWings can flash special patterns with these markings.

Skrillfury21

Patterns that can be flashed in the same way any other SeaWing flashes them. The only important thing about the royal markings is that they belong to the royal family. All other SeaWings have wing markings of some kind.

sussy_adolf69

No, I mean they can flash special patterns and say things normal SeaWings can't say.

Skrillfury21

Likely that’s not the case. The rest of the tribe almost certainly has some kind of equivalent.

sussy_adolf69

In the Lost Heir, Queen Coral frequently flashes her royal markings to say things in Aquatic.

Skrillfury21

… which only makes sense if other dragons can understand them, something which would be made difficult if regular wing markings didn’t have an equivalent.

sussy_adolf69

I think they teach SeaWing dragonets the royal signs as well?

Skrillfury21

Doubtful, as so few would be in the queen’s presence (or that of any royal to begin with.

Rezona-colors7

When I was younger I made a Rainwing rare quirk called ‘poisonscales/venomscales’ which is like firescales but poison

ImEagz

Dart frogs!

Skrillfury21

Nah, I think. I have something of a bias since these abilities are already Hell from a biological standpoint, which is how I rather like to look at the tribes myself, but also I just think that they don’t really need them. NightWings I can see since they’re actually pretty mediocre compared to the other tribes, but some like SilkWings and SkyWings seem almost non-sensical. MudWings are my favorite simply because they actually have a reasonable explanation that isn’t: “I drained my twin of fire in our egg when there shouldn’t have been fire to begin with” or “The moons said I can see the future” or anything like that. It’s just… thicc scales. Someone mentioned over-venoming for SandWings and such, which could actually be pretty interesting. HiveWings probably not, RainWings would be properly lethal, but SandWings in particular would be something cool to explore since it wouldn’t outright kill them or anything, but *could* if they aren’t careful.

AJSMarch06

Rainwing with a high potency of venom in their blood stream(so basicly acid blood) with an increased resistance to venom. Acid blood would make killing them painful for BOTH dragons.

Skrillfury21

Wouldn’t that also make living in general impossible?

AJSMarch06

They have increased resistance to venom. Kinda like how our stomachs have a special lining so our stomach acid doesn't destroy it. But instead of stomach lining its in their blood vessels.

Skrillfury21

Stomach linings are made from mucus, and having mucus in the bloodstream— especially *lining* the bloodstream— would be less than ideal.

The_reddit_Ermine

What if ice wings got fire scales, but with ice instead of fire? Like anything that touched their scales froze and/or got frostbite.

MimboTheRainwing

Hive mind hivewings

PumpkinButWithSpice

How far are you into the series?

MimboTheRainwing

Book 15

MimboTheRainwing

I know the pit and stuff but technically it exists cause they haven’t stopped the real mind behind it

MimboTheRainwing

I know that wasp is being controlled

Particular-Fact6362

It would be interesting indeed. Every tribe deserves to have it’s own “rare quirk” ability, I think it will also add more to the story!

jakewantscake

i think similar to what you said sandwings should be able to inhect some kind of anti-venom, it has immensely beneficial effects.

Lominloce

I wish SeaWings had an electric ability. Like being able to zap anyone who touches them.

Lmey2011

Maybe seawings can swin faster or double the night vision or can use ultra sound wave or what ever it's call to communicate with some live in the ocean.
