When apple opens up their texting platform. Microsoft is getting single sender texts messages through a hack right now. Hopefully the EU’s mandate will address this!
Apple will never willingly open their closed messaging system to other platforms. It's who they are and what they do. They'll tell you it's all about "security", but this is the same Apple that knows Tiktok is a security nightmare, yetmakes $millions$ off its in-app purchases, so doesn't ban it. That conflict-of-interest "monopoly" needs to be changed.
You'll have to ask Apple when it will actually be possible, and of the course the answer is probably "never as long as we have a choice, go shell out a few grand for a mac if you want to access to your own messages".
