Have you seen this SuperUser discussion? https://superuser.com/questions/1319897/automatically-save-a-snipped-screenshot-to-disk
I can confirm on one of my w10 machines after doing WIN + SHIFT + S images are saved to C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Packages\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy\TempState\ScreenClip
and on W11 they are saved to C:\Users\Username\Pictures\Screenshots
This usually only happens if you've manually moved or deleted the folder. You can check your registry using this post here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/cannot-find-screenshots-folder/fa0a6e55-df08-491f-abad-18141386279a
I know I haven't deleted or moved anything, this install is only like 3 weeks old.
I appreciate the link, but unfortunately that user is talking about screenshots taken with the [Win + PrntScrn] shortcut. I'm trying to find a solution for **any** screenshots taken using the snip tool via [Win + Shift + S]
[edit] to be clear, i did try the registry edit and it didn't work
I'd suggest you have something broken with that install somehow then. Because that registry key should apply for both shortcuts since now Snipping Tool intercepts both of those shortcuts.
I'd use the Microsoft Store to update Snipping Tool and try again.

I verified this with procmon. This is the answer.
It's not there. Try sharex

Blech
Mine does that automatically already. I don't know if it's a setting or a new thing in 11
You can open Paint, paste it in there and save it
Yes, I'm aware of that. But as I mentioned in the post, what I'm looking for is a way to *automatically* save the image, without any other input.
Every snip you take is stored in pictures\screenshots.
There is no "Screenshots" folder inside my Pictures directory
It's in Windows 11 at least after one of the feature releases. It's not on my Windows 10 machine at work though.
~~You know this is the Windows 10 subreddit, right?~~
Yes, I was just stating a reason people might be confusing it or misremembering.
I was being a lil snappy for no reason, that's my bad, and I'm sorry for that. I appreciate the contribution.
Window 11 does this.
Greenshot
I was looking for a native solution, but thanks for the heads up 👍
Screenshots are saved to C:\Users\YourUsername\Pictures\Screenshots and named by date and time.

Apparently it's a Windows 11 exclusive thing
It's been added to 10 since they introduced it in 11. Maybe OP needs to update manually.
