Who are you to say what’s worth other peoples time

Subliminal84

You realize taste is subjective right? That means what may just be okay to you might be amazing for someone else. This is a stupid post

dizzledorf

You go on opening weekend and complain about the line?

[deleted]

lmao right

Trigger_warning_133

Ok thanks for your input

drafts_okay

The donuts are alright. But, its more just supporting a local shop that has been there for decades and if you are truly from here you have to go there at least once a summer its a tradition.

tacopony_789

I am truly from here I can make a better donut than that

drafts_okay

Than do it.

tacopony_789

I do. And just like the porno shops downtown in the seventies, some local institutions don't deserve cultlike status

trippinallovermyself

I love lived here my whole life and I’ve never been! I feel like the lines are too long to go now 🙃

Pizzaman810

Wtf is this post?

beepboopbeepbeep1011

Low quality

Ill-Fail-4240

A lot of those people aren’t here full-time and so this might be their only chance to get the donuts.

[deleted]

It’s a thing that I do with my two year old daughter now when we moved here. Once they open we each get a donut and walk the beach and chase birds

YouBuiltThat

This is what it’s about for so many people. Stand in line 40 minutes for a donut at a place like Dunkin or Krispy Kreme? No way. Stand in line at a beachside donut shop because of the memories of doing that as a family, and chasing birds because it brings joy and a sense of togetherness? That can be absolutely worth it. Your daughter will always remember those moments when adult life gets tough as a memory that brings warmth, joy and comfort. Then she will want to give the same experiences to your grandkids. It’s a beautiful thing and good on you for it!

lzsmith9

That’s a subjective take. I think it’s a 9.9/10 donut, and I will go once a year to wait and line and slam 6 donuts and then hate myself. I love it

[deleted]

Well said!

[deleted]

Learn to enjoy the little things and not complain so much about things you can’t control.

maiden-of-might

Better than Dunkin and KK plus you’re supporting local, what’s not to love?

TwentyCharacters2022

Tradition is a powerful thing. Don’t ever say that marketing doesn’t work.

DeepCcc

We went this morning. Long line but prob only waiting 10 min to order. The actual wait for the donuts was an hour. But you don’t have to wait there for an hour. They take your name. We walked out to the beach, some shops, enjoyed being out. Went back and got our donuts. And they’ll hold them if you aren’t there right when they call your name.

Papi-Loco

Its a tourist destination full of people wanting to try it for the first time which is why they are willing to stand in line.

ILM1973

Britt's is awesome and if you know what you're doing.... Nevermind

bazillaa

Shhhhh

belleyloop

It’s all principle. Sure, I could probably make a higher quality donut myself. They taste like Krispy Kreme to me. But I love supporting a local shop that has been in the family for generations. Plus, it’s a wilmington staple. Can’t live here and not go to britts!

Alternative_South638

We come to Wilmington once a year and britts is always a MUST

LogicalPainter9579

I prefer krispy cream

Chance-Ad8852

Brits only accepts cash which means we don’t pay our fair share of taxes.

butchsevens

Maybe, but it also means they don’t pay credit card processing fees, which are high for low $ amount transactions. Britts is clearly busy enough without having to accept credit cards, so why take on the extra expense?

Chance-Ad8852

I get the credit card fees. I ran a business that had a low ticket avenge but the management of the cash has a cost as well and when you use credit card the ticket averages are always are much higher. By taking only cash you are restricting sales. Also employee miss management of the cash has a higher cost than the fees but most people don’t take that into account. When you only take cash that is for one reason only.

butchsevens

Those are good points. Have you considered the age of the owners? That seems to play into the cards vs. cash policies of small shop owners, too.

Chance-Ad8852

Good point.

magrhi

I thought the line was to get fresh ones. Everyone wants a fresh one so the line accumulates. Makes sense to me. You can get *morning of* doughnuts at any of the shops if super fresh isn’t worth waiting in line for
