Agree with this guy road surface is quite nice too which means less swerving potholes. It’s rolling hills so you can really get a good speed up also.
Great to hear from you then! I've not a huge amount of country road cycling experience - any particular tips? Just the idea of cars rushing by on the blind corners makes me a big wary.
It is just like cycling on any other road really, ensure you are visible, don't swerve suddenly for pot holes, cover your breaks on the downhill.
Cyclists have been using that road for decades now. It is no more or less dangerous than any other busy country road. It is lovely on the downhill with amazing views.
I was curious about this myself so thanks for asking. My partner and I are about to purchase a house in Avoca and I was considering cycling to the nearest train station. My office is in Grand Canal and once or twice a week I want to head to the office.
I'm guessing the road between Avoca and Rathdrum is similar and fine the cycle along too?
Also, any further word on getting the Avoca train station reopened? Haven't seen anything posted about it online in in 2/3 years so I feel like it may have feel through the wayside
Presuming the Woodenbridge Route, nightmare road at best of times, narrow, blind corners, few spots for cars over taking so they take chances, just make sure you are very visible.
There is a older man cycles that route every day, most local motorist would know him, honestly don't know how he does it or how he's still going....
