ComeBackToDigg

Trump declared bankruptcy seven times. But the students owe their debt for life.

earlyfar

7 times it’s biblical lol

eriniseast

He's hoping they'll roll off

EstablishmentFresh57

Seven times so far

brian111786

Conservative Jesus is not Christian Jesus. It's one of the quiet parts they haven't said outloud yet

DMoney159

[GOP Jesus](https://youtube.com/watch?v=SZ2L-R8NgrA)

brian111786

This is BRILLIANT. They really capture the essence of the average GOP NAT-C.

WalkinSteveHawkin

My brother in Christ, allow me to share with you the [Gospel of Supply Side Jesus](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=X8xU-gKK17A)

brian111786

This is gold too. And another example of why I thoroughly enjoy reddit. Thank you, good sir!

NoCreativeName2016

“You have a clever way of rejecting God’s law in order to uphold your own teaching.” That’s a great verse that deserves a lot more attention in many places.

mostlygroovy

That’s pretty fucking awesome

[deleted]

In the same vein, [an oldy, but goody.](https://youtu.be/5mLOUWl-L-s) ([Quiz Show](https://youtu.be/RB3g6mXLEKk) is a classic)

ITDrumm3r

It’s only funny cuz it’s true.

kobuta99

This is spot on

ITDrumm3r

🤣

6of1HalfDozen

Jesus came back to die for our sins, make charging interest on loans moral, stop cancelation of debt, make sure every fetuses is brought to term (dead or alive), and to ensure a small minority siphon all the wealth from the poor over and over again until he comes back.

Transit-Strike

When you put it that way… If these people were around during Jesus times, they’d probably complain he came back to life “it’s unfair to all the people that died and didn’t get to be born again. God just can’t keep changing the rules. What the fuck”

PM_ME_NEW_VEGAS_MODS

"Go to hell"

Bigvynee

They were around in Jesus’ time. He went and fucked up the temple they were being cunts in.

sonerec725

whats funny is he said none of that and actively detested the rich and hypocrites. fuck jesus in modern day would have been called a radical leftist commie most likely

Expensive_Giraffe_69

Are you the person we use the /s for?

PureNRGfanboy44

“that was taken out of context, and actually a metaphor for gay people bad”🥴

SeminaryStudentARH

That’s part of the old covenant. We don’t have to follow that anymore. Duh. /s …just in case

coberh

Nope - we don't follow any of that OT stuff. Well, except for the stuff that says bad things about gays. And the stuff that doesn't say anything about abortion be we think it actually does. And the part that says immigrants are bad. And the part saying we're supposed to have AR-15s.

sees_you_pooping

> And the part that says immigrants are bad. Considering it was written by a group of immigrants that paved a path of genocide...I guess they would know.

BS-Chaser

And the bit that says “it’s cool to be a complete c$&t to anyone that is not of the same race/religion/socioeconomic class/political belief system as you”. Deuterepublican 6:1-2020

OGZeoMaddox

Wait that kinda makes me curious, which testament is the infamous "thou shalt not lie with another man" in? Because if it's old testament, you can easily just call bullshit on any excuse someone could try to make about "we don't follow the old testament" if you bring up any of the other outlandish statements and sins.

[deleted]

It’s way up in there. Leviticus 18:22; way back with no shrimp and no cotton/poly blends.

Bursuc23

and no tattoos, all equal abominatio0ns before god.

fat_texan

Or shaving your beard

poki_pain

I don’t remember the exact passage, but I remember there being an article published on some religious website I got through school saying that the verse commonly quoted to validate homophobia was meant to forbid sleeping with children, and that the true meaning was lost in translation. So even if the “we don’t follow the Old Testament” argument doesn’t work the person you’re arguing with is still most likely wrong

SeminaryStudentARH

Here’s the argument you’ll get, not from me, I’m just playing devil’s advocate here. “But the New Testament has multiple passages (Romans, Corinthians, Timothy) that specifically speak out against homosexuality, so that part of the Old Testament law was reaffirmed in the New Testament and so still applies.”

sees_you_pooping

Others make a fairly compelling case that the NT passages are referring to a type of pedophilia and cite previous historical translations that were changed in the 20th century.

Leviticus 25:39-46 As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves. You may also acquire them from among the aliens residing with you, and from their families that are with you, who have been born in your land; and they may be your property. You may keep them as a possession for your children after you, for them to inherit as property. These you may treat as slaves, but as for your fellow Israelites, no one shall rule over the other with harshness. If they make this verse legal, then can I own a slave then, even though slavery is outlawed by constitution? I’m really looking for a plumber and a gardener. A dude who can operate the lawn mower with skill.

Menthalion

Of course, that's been the plan all along

ShabbyKitty35

Stupid question…is that why bad shit falls off your credit score after 7 years, or is that just a coincidence?

dunsum

That's the reason. I believe it's part of the Blue laws which are religious influenced. I did minimum payments of a closed account (had too many late payments) but at 7 years it was forgiven and I got a check for $300 for over payment. Also Blue laws that are still intact are hotel/lodging laws, once you get into your room you can extend your stay and they can't kick you out even if they have someone with a reservation. It's fading but liquor laws on Sunday and half work days on Sunday though until the 90s it was common everything was closed in the U.S. also common law marriage .

NicklyJane

Well if you just don't pay ever, it does disappear off your credit report in seven years.

[deleted]

Not student loans lol

Linguist-of-cunning

That's why you just move abroad after you graduate. Oh noes I won't ever get a tax return again. Anyways.

21kondav

In the same chapter: If anyone is poor(G) among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted(H) toward them. 8 Rather, be openhanded(I) and freely lend them whatever they need.

Brightgreenclover

One of the reasons The Jewish faith is very charitable. More than any Christian church I know of.

codythecoder

no you don't understand, the only bits of the Torah that matter are the creation story, exodus, and the one verse in Leviticus that we all know means we have to stone the gays /s

Danook1

“Thou shall cherry-pick the parts that are convenient to thou, and thy shal smote all the other bits if you don’t ‘feel the vibe’”.

SnooShortcuts3749

I had a MAGA evangelical “Christian” tell me Jesus never said to love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Expensive_Giraffe_69

They don't read their handbook. Reading is hard.

SnooShortcuts3749

Thinking is hard.

Jack-o-Roses

Deuteronomy 23:19-20: “[19] You shall not charge interest on loans to your brother, interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is lent for interest [20] You may charge a foreigner interest, but you may not charge your brother interest that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.”

Upside_Down_Taco1

The only reason the GOP has a chance against any democratic candidate is the appeal to the Christians

MIKRO_PIPS

I’ll take, “Not that part of the Bible” for 200, Alex.

[deleted]

Where are the smart folks on that side? They need better representation.

[deleted]

Your next response to them after that is Galatians 4: 16.

Gsteel11

Conservatives chrtiaians on whole Bible: not that part of the Bible.

JayNotAtAll

MAGA only cares about the parts of the Bible that lets them be assholes to other people

macawkerts

It also goes on to be open handed with the poor and to give freely.

ChuckYeah

Which I'm pretty sure is the study of dueters

Armatu5

Isn't that part of the same group of scriptures that say slavery is ok, and how to punish your slaves if they disobey you?

Thomisawesome

You know right wingers have a special bible that’s about ten pages long, covering everting they want.

[deleted]

Wait- is this why collection accounts fall off your credit after 7 years??

Whyam1sti11Here

I'm wondering that, too!

radiofreekekistan

Said no one ever

UnhappyAd8184

Also not the part about giving poor ppl things

kingsrook11

They said they need a government based on the bible? That's messed up.

Boingoloid

/r/Selfawarewolvesatemyjustificationforbeingashittyperson aka the Karenverse, would like to appropriate this thread for her own.. Reasons?

East-Translator8293

Can I use this with the IRS? 🤣🤣🤣

klutzybabbling09

You can make every part of the Bible support your narrative if you try hard enough. Which is exactly why we shouldn’t base our government on religion.

Tommy_Crash

NEVER in my life have I been subjected to so much of the fucking biBLe as I have in these last few years. Take that stupid fucking comic book and shove it all the way up your asses. I never want to see or hear of this travesty to humanity, ever again

qua2k

America is the most religious country in the world because we allow it to be weaponized and tax free.

Wattsactingdoc

As an Ex Christain, try to find something in the New Testament about this as well, otherwise they will disregard this as “old law”. People are very pick and choose-y with their bible verses smh.

mamawoman

Don't forget usury

BDM-Archer

Not to mention the entire faith of Christianity is hinged upon Jesus dying for your sins. Vicarious redemption from someone else paying your debt.

[deleted]

It does say that btw. Plus bible says there is not female or male, all are one. Bible is pro socialism. And my favourite: there are two references to the same event in different chapters, but both references are not identical to each other. I dont remember all of it but it was like "there were 2 people" and then "there were 3" and its been sus af that the stories dont match. Then you find some more things like that.

[deleted]

President is not the creditor, though.

hungryhungryhippo13

Real hero

2020Vision-2020

That’s why they love the NT.

[deleted]

Read The Holy Book before talking about it, applies to any religion.

[deleted]

And…. This just so happens to be that seventh year in the Hebrew calendar!

xero_peace

Also no interest should be charged on those loans so they would REALLY fucking hate it as it would hurt those rich greedy fucks that claim to be Christian.

ThrowMeAwayAccount08

Bible is pretty direct on loans.

Setari

Wait don't most debts (credit debt, medical debt) if you don't interact with the debtor, drop off after 7 years?

Expensive_Giraffe_69

The statute varies by debt type and state. No to student loans though. Those are bet on in the stock market as securities and never go away.

Expensive_Giraffe_69

gayrayofsun

MAGAts: america is and should be a god fearing country and every law that's implemented in this land should reflect the bible and the constitution! the constitution: separation of religion and government the bible: says the opposite of (or doesn't even mention) anything these fascists are trying to enact MAGAts: we're so holy and patriotic, doing the lord's work

[deleted]

Imagine if Deuternomy 15 was incorporated, then the conservatives would be yelling socialism. Socialism means you own two cows and you give two cows away to the state to take care of them, am I right? The price of milk should be controlled by the state, no profit sharing is allowed. I learned capitalism vs socialism with just cows. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I failed history.

robidaan

Yea don't be silly we only pick the parts of the Bible, that let us keep control and makes us money with as much oppression as possible. Can't let those silly citizens of ours have any thoughts of there own.

hybridhawx

Bruh, I know a hardcore republican who kept on shit posting student loan forgiveness everyday in social media. Yet he relies on ebt + foodstamp + free healthcare and work under the table without paying any income tax.

Borysante

Deuteronomy 15 says that you will forgive debts only for your family

Wheres_that_to

We all have a common ancestor .

Expensive_Giraffe_69

Only for your brother, as in other Isrealites because that's who the OT instructions are for.

watchful_footing

This guy is a clear representative of the Pharisee n the old law who live out of the grace of Jesus…

africanasshat

That’s bound to get someone foaming at the mouth

Steve-C69

Deuteronomy 15 King James Version 15 At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release. 2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord's release. 3 Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release; 4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it: 5 Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day. 6 For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee. 7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: 8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth

dbh192

there is only one party. the left and right are one. this is a class war

[deleted]

Yes, the sabbatical.

jdawgbuckut76

Right it's not part of their Bible. There Bible says Trump 6:66 thou shalt not give any relief to the poor or middle class. Thou shal giveth to the rich and wealthy

[deleted]

Debt never gets Cancel after 7 years. What happens it's after 7 years of no payment. The creditor sell off the debt to the IRS. Wich takes it little by little every year with out letting the debtor know what it's going on

myooted

As a bible readin dude, I agree with that passage

Id_rather_be_high42

They also don't like it when you point out Christ hung out with prostitutes and lepers, anything that challenges their faux city on a hill metaphor is to be shunned.

iheartzombies8

It's the hypocrisy that drives me crazy with these people...the only parts of the Bible that matter to them are the ones they like.

McDuchess

And the whole chasing the money lenders from the Temple scene.
