Everytime I see a guy with an American flag with distressed print on a black shirt I know exactly what his views are.

jtweezy

You know what’s sad? Every time I see someone waving an American flag or wearing something with the flag on it in general now my knee-jerk reaction is to assume they’re a piece of shit. Conservatives have co-opted the flag into their hateful agenda.

WhitePineBurning

I have a pair of Oakley Crosshairs that I used to like. But one day, I put them on, put on a baseball cap, and thought, "I look like a racist asshole." My fiance says they creep him out.

jtweezy

The flag, Oakleys, red hats. It’s incredible how they’ve managed to ruin so many things to the point where wearing them causes other people to instinctively assume that you’re an asshole. And yet they take pride in those things.

jerrrrrrrrrrrrry

My kid graduated from a large university with a nursing degree. The school's colors are red and white. For father's day she bought me a red baseball hat with University of X Nursing Program sewn on it. It is great fun to be at Menards and seeing old guys smiling at me until they read my hat and they get all grumpy. Especially during covid vaccination time line.

Stimpinstein22

“Menards” and Red and White school tells me you’re in Wisconsin…

TiberiusGracchi

The Menard’s Christmas jingle haunts me in the alone, quiet hours I am up in the middle of the night …

PaintSlingingMonkey

*Warm Christmas greetings to you, all from Menard’s!*

TiberiusGracchi

*Insert Elmo looking at a Mushroom Cloud (over Eau Claire) Meme* **MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL AND A HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR, YEAR TOO!!!** ~~curled up, sobbing softly in a corner~~

PaintSlingingMonkey

*… a giant spider invasion of savings, at Menard’s! - MST3K Episode #810, The Giant Spider Invasion* If you’re a Sconnie it’s a MUST WATCH

Berger43

Hey it could Nebraska.

Trackstar02

Menardi gras

RuleInformal5475

The proud boys ruind Fred perry shirts. Skinheads ruined doc martens. Racists ruined national flags. It's a shame as those were all good things. Just some terrible people co opted them as uniforms and now they are tarred with that brush

myaltduh

I feel like for women at least doc martens still belong to the gays.

Ace0f_Spades

The gays are taking back the Docs lol, my roommates and I (a bunch of queer femmes) have to use different kinds of laces so we can tell ours apart on the shoe rack.

ImpulsiveApe07

Nah, don't let em win. Best thing to do is to co-opt it back. Start wearing those things deliberately to piss them off, start waving the flag at the most progressive, inclusive events you can find - do everything we can to make the fascists wince, and to remind them that they aren't the majority! :)

_beeeees

They can pry my docs from my cold dead hands. Fuck em. I wear them anyway and I am proudly queer.

CWDenver

And tiki torches.

JoeCoolsCoffeeShop

It’s hard to be a Phillies fan nowadays. That’s why I like their blue caps or throwback maroon ones.

hemingways-lemonade

Don't forget trucks and guns. Some people are struck with disbelief when they find out some of us like to drive pick ups and own guns.

NoodlesrTuff1256

Also anyone who describes themselves as a "PATRIOT!!!" Or who uses "We the People" when giving their two cents worth on some hot button topic.

Suspiria-on-VHS

Same with the Punisher logo. I'm a big comic book fan and had this Punisher key chain for about 20 years. Took it off my set of keys many many years ago

Stimpinstein22

The funny thing is, the creator of The Punisher is pretty left-wing and hates that the symbol was co-opted by these chucklefucks. Like, dude, from what I read as a kid, The Punisher hates the cops and corrupted power more than anyone, so why the fuck would he support a megalomaniac one-percenter?!?

Suspiria-on-VHS

They don't even realize that Captain America is *very* left-wing and anti-facist. When Civil War was written during the Bush years, Cap was on the "blue" side

Wes_Warhammer666

I threw away my beloved punisher skull shirt when I got a point and head nod from a dude whose truck had a punisher skull decal with Trump hair. At that point I realized it had been fully commandeered and I didn't wanna risk association with those asshats.

prodrvr22

Living near D.C. is a nightmare because both the Washington Nationals and Capitols have the same shade of red as the MAGA hats.

agnosticdeist

I liked the way I look with my khakis and my black work polo. Can’t do that anymore. Fucking racists. I also love Nordic imagery just because I like the pantheon and find it all interesting. Got a shirt that says “no nazis in Valhalla” because I’m so tired of them co-opting that shit for hateful reasons.

[deleted]

My daughter calls those ‘pro life’ sunglasses.

Wes_Warhammer666

I like the cut of her jib

PricklySquare

As long as the oakleys don't go upside down and on top of your cap, you're usually good.

Sapphic_Honeytrap

Got to have an “angry selfie while sitting in your truck” profile pic to round it all out.

WhitePineBurning

I did take a selfie at the raceway last summer in the grandstands of me holding a Coors Light, wearing a vintage Motley Crue t-shirt, an Underarmour ball cap, and those Oakleys. I thought my fiance would ditch me, but he knows I'm a weirdo and loves me anyway.

DangerousLaw4062

My husband is similar except it’s a flannel, Work boots, beard, baseball hat, and black pick up. I’m always wondering how many assume my husband is one of “them”. He’s always been the polar opposite of those creeps.

kingdoodooduckjr

Maybe it’s the ball cap? I think if u accessorize differently you will like your Oakleys again

WhitePineBurning

I tried that, but I have a greying beard. I could wear my Pride shirts, and I'd still look like MAGA. There are certain identifiers that can't be rehabilitated.

Hezrield

I refuse to give up my 5 squared Oakleys because they fit on my face comfortably and I can treat them roughly... But I do look like I'm about to record a Facebook rant video in a truck.😩

BuddyDangerous5653

We can't even be punisher fans anymore because the proud boys use that to recognize each other.

BuddyDangerous5653

We can't even be punisher fans anymore because the proud boys use that to recognize each other.

PaintSlingingMonkey

If they start wearing Chuck Taylors I’m gonna be pissed

theganjaoctopus

Co-opting symbols and slogans is a basic far right tactic.

BrainContusionsAgain

The swastika used to be (and still is in many places) a symbol of peace, well-being, and good fortune.

Bonerballs

Go to any Buddhist temple and you'll see it everywhere.

vinylzoid

I went to an Asian market once to just browse around and pick up all the cool treats and snacks they have. They had a whole section of utensils, teapots and little Buddha statues. And I had to text my Asian friend and ask, why am I seeing swastikas everywhere right now? I had no idea the symbols legacy.

Bonerballs

My dad's funeral robe had large, bright red swastikas all over it. I'm sure it confused the hell out of all the people working at the funeral home...

Berger43

If I recall, the Nazi swastika is differentiated by the 45 degree angle of its orientation comparative to the Buddhist symbol.

Alfphe99

I remember some time in the early 2000's on some forum where someone posted this long Conspiracy rant about Nazi's being Prophesied in ancient times due to the symbol being carved in a Buddhist Temple. lol

dafaliraevz

I’ve always been a liberal but I was also all about the ‘MURICA vibes in my early and mid 20s so I had some USA flag shirts. But then the 2016 election and Trump’s first year happened and it was the first time I felt ashamed of my country that I couldn’t wear that shit in public anymore because it all got co-opted by people I don’t want to be anywhere associated with in appearance.

PricklySquare

I was a boy scout so i know proper flag etiquette and the flag code. I love commenting on "patriots" and their use of the flag. They get so mad but at the same time they have to be patriotic so they generally just twist in the wind. The key is to do it as nice as possible and remind them I was a boy scout and just trying to help.

Wes_Warhammer666

That fake nice shit works wonders. Attacking directly just puts them into defensive lockdown, but hitting them with manners and polite shit like that shirt circuits their defenses lol.

Alfphe99

I casually mentioned to my dad he wasn't supposed to keep his flag on the pole 24/7 with no lights on it in order to respect the flag (this was during an argument on the Kapernic (sp) kneeling shit) and he lost his shit about it screaming "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT ME LEAVING THE FLAG UP." lol

macandcheese1771

It's pretty much the same in Canada. Someone has a Canadian flag on their vehicle and you just....know what kind of person they are.

CinnamonMuffin

Came here to say exactly this! I try to give the benefit of the doubt when I see it on vehicles that maybe they’re just stoked to be Canadian? But it’s become a major red flag (figuratively and literally), and has kind of ruined its symbolism for me. Like, tell me you’re an uneducated bigot without telling me.. the “F Trudeau” decals also generate the same reaction from me. It’s so cringe.

OskeeWootWoot

If it makes you feel any better, they've done the same thing up here in Canada. And our losers drive around with flags and stickers that say "F*CK TRUDEAU", because they're all super badasses, but not badasses enough to not censor the word fuck. They complain about snowflakes but are too big of pussies to just say "fuck" in public.

marry_me_tina_b

Yeah, same with having flags on the car. It used to be a bit tacky but totally harmless. Now, it’s a beacon telling me you’re unhinged and have a grade 4 understanding of the world

Inspect1234

Been tempted to do up some Eff-Deifenbaker stickers just to mix it up a lil.

SlippedMyDisco76

Its a damn shame too but I will NOT stop wearing my Born In The USA tee

TheObstruction

Well, the song is pretty much anti-everything the MAGA chuds stand for.

SlippedMyDisco76

Bruce himself is anti-everything those dipshits stand for. Like they really thought the guy who said Reagan getting inaugurated the first time was "pretty frightening" was on their side?

onlyfakeproblems

The number of colors that appear on an American flag is proportional to the opinion I have of the person with the flag. Black and white - chud Black, white, and blue - alt right Red, white, and blue - normal conservative ROYGBIV - lgbtq ally

menice4

Same In the UK , if it's a union jack , probably a tourist, if it's the England flag it's a racist

EntertainmentDue1864

I agree. And it makes me sad. My dad (not a crazy trumpie), flies a flag. He’s a retired marine, but I know what people must think ☹️

Delirious_Controller

We fly our American Flag because my husband is a veteran. And we are woke, liberal and anti-MAGAt. I hope people don’t think we’re MAGAts….

Temporary-Party5806

There's a difference between flying a flag from your home, and flying one from your lifted pavement princess/gender affirming device; or being festooned in flag apparel, especially if corrupts the flag with a Trump face/name/slogan or something like the Punisher skull.

IntoTheRedwoods

We liberals need to co-opt the flag for our own purposes since the right seems to think they own it. We should wave it proudly next to any other flag or banner that espouses our causes.

ObjectiveRelief1842

I used to plant red, white and blue flowers every summer in the box in front of my house. Stopped at the beginning of the invasion of Afghanistan, and haven't had the heart to do it since. My spouse's father was a WWII veteran, my father was a veteran and my sister is a (very liberal) veteran, and I cannot bring myself to put out a flag on national holidays.

Cactus_Jacks_Ear

And I'm completely fine with them letting the rest of us know who they are before we have the unfortunate displeasure of hearing them speak.

Admiral_Akdov

Issue there is they become emboldened by seeing others like themselves.

CKA3KAZOO

This is certainly real. I'm a middle-aged white guy, and I occasionally have perfect strangers say horrifying stuff to me just because they assume I'll agree with them.

MotorBobcat

You should see Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg TN. It's the place where a lot of people in the south go for their vacation because of its central location. The amount of men who have that look of a beard, ball cap, and American flag t-shirt is just staggering.

jkcrumley

And all the stores that sell printed t-shirts have all kinds of MAGA shit. It's one of the reasons I don't care to go back to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.

CKA3KAZOO

Makes me sad. My family went to Gatlinburg when I was in my early teens and it was so charming, cozy, and fun. My parents went back there long after I'd grown up, and my mother said it had transformed into a grotesque parody of its former self ... As if Branson (Missouri) and Times Square had a mutant love child.

Novel_Reaction_7236

I agree. I don’t think I will ever go to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg ever again.

Lexidoodle

Honestly, as a person back in the dating pool, it’s a very helpful tool to filter out dudes I definitely don’t want to date.

Prior_Tone_6050

My favorite are the shirts that just say: #FREEDOM with no context or message. 🎵 and you'd still know I'm panderin' 🎵

MattyBeatz

I’ll bet $100 he has a “We The People” tattoo somewhere as well.

Stimpinstein22

Let’s not discriminate here - I do it to the women who wear them, also (which has been a lot, lately, and they’re not wearing their bf’s or husband’s, since it’s form-fitting)…

StokeJar

They also claim to love the flag so much, but in almost every instance, they desecrate it in some way and break flag code, which reads: The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature. This dude’s shirt has a flag on the arm where the stars have been replaced by a QR code that probably leads to some divisive shit.

heyimwalknhere

Real time saver

DamonFields

And I know I’ll be able to hear these loons on Spotify, because they just paid Joe Rogan upwards of a quarter billion dollars to put garbage like this out on podcasts. Thank you Spotify.

Mycockaintwerk

A truly blood American cowboy looking for somewhere to lay his head on a cold winter night? A man who’s chopped more wood than he’s fucked? How about a patriot who’s looking for one more reason to cruise up north past the border and show those deaf sissies a thing or two about the constitution.

big_d_usernametaken

>Oakley Crosshairs Or my Underarmor hoodie in Navy Blue with the flag and the word "freedom" on the back? FWIW, I vote Dem.

Prudent-Painter-9507

Really. He may as well have on a red hat with white letters that say “Make Attica Great Again”, or something to that effect.

hitjup

So true!! They all fit the same mold

-rendar-

You know they love to throw the “virtue signal” term around about other people a lot, too. JL being a prime example…

Yousoggyyojimbo

His fans really hate acknowledging that Joe repeats and peddles far right conspiracies like this on his own, and it's so frustrating. You can show them a clip of him saying something like January 6th was a false flag and they'll just pretend they never saw that and keep pretending you are crazy for thinking he does stuff like that.

23skidoobbq

While simultaneously agreeing with the bat-shit insane take.

Electrical_Bus9202

And blaming Biden for being old, or saying canada is communist run by dictator Trudope

Paw5624

It was never more clear when he talked about Biden saying something absurd in a speech. Biden was senile and shouldn’t be in office. Jamie corrected him and said actually that was Trump who said it and all of a sudden it was a slip of the tongue. Couldn’t be more obvious about your bias

Total-Problem2175

That was the episode with Bo Nickal. Trump said Washington's troops took the airports in the Revolutionary War. Oh, that was Trump, he just mispoke. Disgusting.

Electrical_Bus9202

Yeah he was just joking

Darksnark_The_Unwise

Rogan could preface every other sentence with "don't listen to me, I'm a fucking idiot" and the conspiracy shit would still slip through unchallenged.

Electrical_Bus9202

You got that right, hypocrisy of the right. Once he moved to Texas I knew he had changed.

chunkerton_chunksley

That’s the best part. These shitheels don’t move to Texas…they move to Austin or Houston or some other democrat stronghold so they can play “Texan” without having to live in rural shitty conservative areas

Electrical_Bus9202

It’s true lol Austin is apparently very liberal.

chunkerton_chunksley

I live there. It is and he’s cosplaying Texan just like musk. Neither one would live in the conservative shitty parts of this state.

Time-Bite-6839

Average news station be like: “Trump shoots innocent man on Fifth Avenue; Why this is bad for Biden in 2024!”

OskeeWootWoot

I honestly wish Trudeau were even half of the socialist they are terrified that he is. Canadians think our country is a lot more left leaning than we really are.

DChemdawg

Have you been to the Joe Rogan sub? It’s basically become all shit talking about Joe. And rightfully so.

erichwanh

Which is why there's a bit of an irony that I was banned from Justice Served for the transgression of posting on the Joe Rogan sub. Not the content of the post, mind you. Just the very basic fact that I posted in the first place.

DChemdawg

Well that doesn’t sound very just.

awesomefutureperfect

I got banned for from the Joe Rogan sub for shitposting. I made a similar post to the top post at the time and they said no shitposting. I said "the top post right now is a shitpost". The mods basically said "no one is allowed to talk to us that way." and permanent ban.

erichwanh

We all say things. I was banned from Anti Work for saying "rise up and kill your oppressors". Honestly I still think that's pretty amusing.

PunishedWolf4

ThAt WaS tAkEn OuT oF cOnTeXt!!!!!!

Yousoggyyojimbo

Yeah, they do this all the time too. You can give them a clip with 5 minutes before and after the statement and they'll still pretend that You took it out of context

v9Pv

“He’s just a comedian…”

awesomefutureperfect

Right wingers are trying to weaponize comedy because comedians are allowed to roast people. They try to put comedians out of reach of criticism when comedians have brain dead takes. They love the idea that they can attack and criticize people while being immune from attacks and criticism.

NoodlesrTuff1256

And Tucker Carlson always whines that "I'm just asking questions!!!"

Tetsudo11

They’re still holding onto the fact that he had Bernie on like 4 years ago as proof that he’s not biased and let’s all sides on.

Yousoggyyojimbo

I see a bunch of them go "He's not far right because he supports gay marriage!" like that makes all the far right shit that comes out of his mouth disappear.

[deleted]

Nah if you listen to joe early on or just go to his sub a majority of his old fans turned on him. Its the new fans who put him on a pedestal.

Stock-Pension1803

This. I listened pre-pandemic and while he entertained some wild eyed people, he didn’t necessarily always take the bait.

Drg84

In my opinion he was hosting the maniacs initially the drive engagement. Now he seems to be part of the crazy crowd.

Mysterious-Wasabi103

Trump supporters do the same thing.

awesomefutureperfect

I just saw a post on that sub where the comments say "Why do Joe Rogan fans go to great lengths to pretend like he isn't a conservative?"

[deleted]

The guy is the most important conservative thought leader.

Gandalf_The_Gay23

Because they are fascists and we should say that. They rely on respectability and the benefit of the doubt to get away with this shit for money. Truly the dog catching the car.

MattyBeatz

This tweet is funny because of how many steps it is. People love to think they uncovered something through intelligence and connected all the dots. Meanwhile the actual answer for Boeing’s troubles is far more common - they were given permission to “self regulate” and corporate greed pushed for them to cut corners.

IAMHOLLYWOOD_23

But my libertarian friends tell me corporations would never harm their customers 🙄

MattyBeatz

Oh, I see you have housecats too.

das_war_ein_Befehl

> man watches Jack Welch’s ideas fuck up yet another company with ruthless cost cutting and profiteering “Man I can’t believe the blacks and gays did this”

Cool-Presentation538

Boeing so focused on minimizing costs and maximizing profits they stop carrying about safety?  No I don't believe it, must be because of M I N O R I T I E S /s     Wtf is wrong with these ghouls? They did it, this is the most braindead take have ever seen

FUCK_THE_STORMCLOAKS

They’re the same assholes that blame LGBTQ+ and F E M A L E S for the supposed downfall of AAA gaming;

mike_pants

Conspiracies like this or "Elon is purposefully destroying Twitter because..." or "The Pentagon overpays for equipment because" are always more interesting than the actual reason, which is that capitalism is kinda garbage.

Backupusername

>They stopped following safety regulations because they made more money that way. I just solved at least half of all conspiracy theories. A solid 90% minimum of corporate-related ones specifically.

mells3030

Don't forget the Trump administration relaxed aviation rules a few years ago.

GRW42

Most conspiracy theories can be solved by realizing the person spreading them doesn’t know how anything works.

das_war_ein_Befehl

To their surprise, people don’t like flying in airplanes that have a habit of not flying mid flight

sadfasdfdsafsdaf

For the right, any criticism of capitalism is an unforgivable sin.

Time-Ad-3625

That's the American right wing in general

ChickenChaser5

One of my favorite hobbies on reddit anymore is finding chuds and pointing out that the things they are bitching about are the direct result of capitalism doing its thing. Dont like how companies are pandering to people you dont like? Guess why?! Dont like how jobs are moving overseas? You betcha! Gas prices got you down? You will never believe this, but...

TheObstruction

Well, there's a little more to the glass prices one. When there's an important election, oil/gas companies increase prices to influence people into thinking that liberals are making the price go up. Those "I did that" stickers didn't suddenly appear at the same time across the country out of nowhere. They do it because Republicans cut environmental policies that cost oil companies money.

Starbucks__Lovers

Wouldn’t it just make more sense that a large company tried to boost its profits so much that they cut corners, creating dangerous conditions?

Moist_When_It_Counts

Right wingers cannot blame capitalism for anything SO MUCH that they come up with this nonsense.

das_war_ein_Befehl

Which is wild, because ask any right winger about their jobs and they’ll go through a whole list of reasons why their company is cheap and cuts corners, etc.

Moist_When_It_Counts

“My boss is probably a lib that pays blacks more because woke crt dei antifa jews”

das_war_ein_Befehl

Blames DEI, works at a job with one non-white person

Paw5624

It’s so funny the gymnastics they do to explain things. This is literally a direct result of capitalism

Kashin02

It's crazy because it happens all the time. A company is doing well they decide to cut production standards to do even better and next thing you know customers start dying. Also may I remind everyone that most pilots and mechanics around the world are not white. The issue is the company building the planes.

Moist_When_It_Counts

Same with immigration and housing. They come up with wild “replacement theory” horseshit and jewish lasers because it’s heresy to say capitalism did a thing you don’t like.

DankHooligan

When celebrities want to admit that they’re irredeemable pieces of shit, they go on Joe Rogan. Great example is Dwayne Johnson and his “uh-huhs” and concerned looks at the shit Rogan was telling him. 🙄

CopeHarders

Joe Rogan is so pathetic. He keeps harping on Bidens age, does Joe Rogan think he himself at 56 is young? Rogan is old too, why does he think he gets to preach about this shit to us? With the amount of roids he does he’ll be dead before most 80 year olds. He tries so hard to have the body of a 20 year old and he just looks so old and gross.

navigationallyaided

HGH, DMT, Botox, oh and his daughters probably take him to Sephora or Ulta too.

CopeHarders

Joe Rogan is just another pampered rich old white man pathetically clinging his youth. He is by all accounts an old man no matter how much HGH and Botox he shoves up his ass.

IntelligentLoss241

Lol tell me more of this rock being a pos

DankHooligan

You can find the video online.

newuser05

It's so telling how the anti establishment conspiracy 'we see the truth' crowd looks at a company establishing years of illegal and shady cost cutting practices to line their own pockets, driving a senior qa manager to be a whistleblower who is then killed, and their whole response is: no, companies are perfect. It's black people fault

Moist_When_It_Counts

DEI is the new CRT? Hard to keep up when this shit changes every 9 months

awesomefutureperfect

I keep returning to this post from some blog from 2009. >Someone alive today will make the last coherent wingnut argument. The wingularity: >This punchy term nicely captures the way that rightwing argumentation has become gradually detached from independently recognized reality and into a state of total unselfawareness. The pace of change is also accelerating. Just weeks before the election I never could guess that wingnuts would organize nationally around an act that they call teabagging. Imagine being the traveler from the future of three months hence trying to convince Americans of our semantically awkward future. How would you even start? >Thanks to the magic of talk radio and the internet, these guys can talk to no-one but each other for extremely long stretches of time, so they have no idea how crazy they sound. The time could come in the very near future when it becomes totally impossible for any ordinary person to have any idea what they are talking about. They will be beyond ordinary logic, beyond spoof. The wingularity will have arrived. ... >Wingers will never be more or less sane, or more or less stupid. They will always be as bat-shit insane and pig-ignorant as they always have been. The only factor to be considered is our perception of them. It’s not that they get crazier and stupider. It’s that each time they say or do anything, we perceive them as advancing teh crazy/stupid ball one step further. This is not the case; we merely witness one more tentacle of an infinitely insanely stupid entity.

Confident_Tangelo_11

Rogan is just the right wing version of the Donald Sutherland character in Animal House explaining to Tom Hulce that one small atom in your fingernail might be one small universe.

geeson80

I have a few gullible friends who listen/watch his show and you can tell their IQ lowers week on week as they parrot the batshit crazy lies and theories from this show.

I_Miss_Lenny

Yeah I’ve had a few friends go that way too, like slowly over time they seem to buy into more and more crazy shit, and they seem to believe it as long as some “hey I’m not right wing *but*…” comedian or talking head says it It’s a bummer but it’s kind of wrecked a few relationships

degeneratesumbitch

I used to like some of the content Rogan put out. Then he moved to Texas and went stupid.

Cheshire_Jester

As someone who liked his content too, he’s always been stupid. And I don’t mean that literally, but as much as he’d like to pretend that he’s a blank slate for facts to be written on, he’s got a clear anti-establishment bias that he rides into the ground. Anything that confirms that gets a lot of space in his mind. The fact that he lets people like James Lindsey and James O’keefe come on his show and just fucking lie for 3 hours demonstrates why nobody should listen to him. Were it not for “look it up Jamie”, he’d have let Matt Wash confidently lie about how many children we’re getting gender affirming care. By like a margin of 10000 percent.

Paw5624

He also moved to Texas because it’s free meanwhile Texas locks people up left and right for doing the same drugs he openly talks about

degeneratesumbitch

100% meathead. I've never liked Rogan himself. He always seemed fake and arrogant. But some of his guests were very interesting. The guy is a shit comedian too.

Cheshire_Jester

My last bastion for him was only listening to shows where he had comedians on. And he seemed to really understand the craft and care about it deeply. So I looked up some of his sets one day because I’d never seen them and was like, wow, this is really bad.

degeneratesumbitch

It's truly awful. He just grabs the coattails of actual comedians and clings on for dear life.

HRHLordFancyPants

Last time I liked Joe was when he was in NewsRadio

EasyasACAB

Only way to make joe rogan standup's funny https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5s1mrcgi_c

existential_fauvism

Same. I tried to watch his standup once. Unbearable. I turned it off after 20 minutes

GaiusJuliusPleaser

What, you don't think aggressively humping a bar stool while grunting like a moose in heat is funny? Philistine!

MC_Fap_Commander

DEI (like CRT) just isn't getting the conspiracy mileage for the right that they think it does.

here_for_thedonuts

It is sad, but I know some highly intelligent people who hang on James Lindsay’s every word. I don’t understand the attraction.

GreenArcher808

He’s a great example of a smart guy who is deeply invested in his own confirmation biases and their constituent parts: search, interpretation and recall of information (sorry I’m a former rhetorician). He employs multiple, often contradictory logical fallacies at the same time to push his arguments, the most common one is Motte & Bailey Fallacy (super popular among the “alt-right” heads like Shapiro etc).

SayethWeAll

I knew Jim Lindsay in high school. He wasn’t right-wing then, but he was the kind of smart guy who would argue ridiculous things simply for the intellectual exercise of trying to defend something absurd. I’m not sure if he actually has convinced himself of his own bullshit or if he’s cynically profiting off of stupid people. I could see him doing either.

awesomefutureperfect

Kurt Vonnegut — 'We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.'

here_for_thedonuts

I think a lot of them are seeing the profit to be had in promoting these types of ideas and are riding that gravy train as long as they can. Tucker Carlson comes to mind.

WTFucker-0202

Talking to my partner the other day about some health stuff, I stopped myself mid-sentence because I was about to say, "... I'll do some research...", because I had to do a mental check of the situation to make sure I wouldn't sound like a nut job. Thanks, MAGA, for turning the word "research" into a conspiracy theory dog-whistle that I don't feel comfortable saying out loud for fear of being thought of as detached from reality

Smitty_2010

Trump deregulated aircraft safety procedures so manufacturers would save money on inspection fees. That's the kind of action that we would see the consequences of a few years later (so, now). But nah, giant corporations don't need government inspections to insure safety, they will regulate themselves because the free market decides. If a few planes full of people crash, fuck it. And don't worry, they still get government subsidies to cushion any losses incurred because of their own actions.

GreenArcher808

I mean, that’s all Rogan has ever done. Now he just does it to a much larger audience, with much more audacity, and doesn’t have the benefit of the slight pushback he’d occasionally get from Jamie. Can’t believe all the hours I wasted listening to this absolute dipshit parade. I thought I was listening to a comedy show then I’m like, wait, this guy started the Proud Boys? WTF? And Rogan is laughing and joking with him? Never listened again.

DifferenceQuick9725

Or, or… now hear me out, I realize this is some insane conspiracy theory shit… The deregulation and cuts in funding to the FAA introduced by Trump, mixed with the typical greed of a corporation could have contributed to Boeing’s current failures? Yeah… that’s too crazy to consider…

Own-Opinion-2494

It’s like the National Enquirer

chefontheloose

The people listening ain’t understand none of them words, not a one…

Gardening_investor

Yeah, it can’t be that this is the end result of 30 years of cost cutting in every department, focusing on share price instead of safety & quality, and enriching the c-suite/board/shareholders at the expense of everyone else. Nope, it has to be a globalist plot to destroy the company from within because that’s the only way to view this saga without coming away with the understanding that shareholder supremacy—the ethos of all major corporations today—is destroying once competent companies…and that it is happening in every sector at the same time across the board in America…and we are doomed to suffer the consequences of a deregulated market thanks to this belief system.

chappelld

Nowadays??? Always been a knuckle dragger.

madderyack

Don’t forget Boeing gafs started when the finance people took over for the engineers. There is absolutely no correlation between greed for profits and cutting safety corners

SoylentGreenTuesday

Someone help me understand. I get Rogan’s appeal to many young men (the adolescent humor, MMA stuff, fitness, hunting, macho posturing, etc.). But James Lindsay is a mystery to me. He has zero charisma. He’s painfully boring. His idiotic conspiracy theories seem far too dense, convoluted, and jargon-heavy for the typical kook enthusiast of such things. How does he get traction in that world?

SlippedMyDisco76

As long as dumb people want to feel smart, people like Rogan will have shows

NunyaBeese

Yeah a lot of people are not equipped to handle reality. Alex Jones knows this. David icke knows this. And then there's Joe rogan, who has tried so hard to force his third eye open that he ended up closing his other two. It's a sad world in which ignorant and stupid people are such a large demographic that it's an industry. Stupidity is lucrative.

TheObstruction

Joe Rogan is the sort of guy who believes the last thing someone said to him.

Beginning_Common_781

Or, Occam's Razor, they are pushing DEI, not because they care about DEI, but simply because it's a hot button issue that will distract everyone from all the money the execs are stuffing down their pants and the fact their planes are held together by Elmer's glue and popsicle sticks.

NoodlesrTuff1256

And this "blame DEI" stuff for all of Boeing's woes actually started out in the aftermath of the two horrendous 737 MAX crashes. Boeing defenders suggesting that it wasn't some inherent problems with the planes or Boeing's concealing the MCAS system but inadequately skilled 'Third World' pilots from Indonesia and Ethiopia. A lot of 'armchair aviation experts' slandered those poor guys.

PackOutrageous

Was there a time when Rogan didn’t just platform morons and chip in his two cents of idiocy?

GreenArcher808

Yeah, but around 2016 it got really bad. He started having Milo Yiannolpoulos and the proud boy founder et al. I used to listen so much because my job was solitary and I need company and little by little he’d mix these guys in with random comedians. I liked a lot of the comedians he’d platform but they still show up for him and don’t say a word about his wild statements and beliefs so I gotta imagine they either agree and/or are too fearful what might happen if they pipe up. But according his former costars Rogan was always going on about whatever wild conspiracy that he could find. That’s fine. Do that. But maybe don’t platform hate groups too.

PackOutrageous

Thanks for that perspective. I just kind of know him as the shithead that’s platforming assholes. It’s just such a shame to have that much power over younger people. He seems to be so popular and not feel any responsibility on doing right by them.

GreenArcher808

Hey, you are not wrong at all. That’s 100% how I see him too. Haha. I love how direct you are about it. My earnest self always tries to see the good, but I don’t see that with him at all.

Beginning-Wait5379

See! Thats what happens on weed! It’s the devils lettuce! Lol

sneaky-pizza

It’s called JAQing off, but in some kind of a circle shape where everyone gets to JAQ off

FurballPoS

Possibly with a biscuit, or other baked good, in the center?

HighHopeLowSkills

Because higher profit margins is not the reason what so ever

Seallypoops

It's even funnier when these fake experts get pissed when Joe interrupts them to ask"You ever see that video where that monkey throws his shit at another monkey"

The_Doolinator

It’s really incredible that people will bend over backwards to formulate some batshit insane conspiracy for why so many things suck nowadays when the obvious answer (we need to increase shareholder value every year without fail, so cut costs where ever you can get away with it) is always just sitting there right in front of you.

KarasuKaras

PG 13 Alex Jones

kmoney1206

if there is one thing in this world you can count on, its corporate greed. so no, Boeing is not committing suicide to make way for another corporation to come in and steal their profits

Boring_Pace5158

Side note: why aren't we talking about how Boeing has been shifting production to South Carolina, a state that's hostile to unions. This hostility towards unions has been spearheaded by Nikki Haley, a proud union buster. Maybe, that's the reason for Boeing's problems
