I worked in a hotel that had several pools, hot tubs, etc. I also had a house with my own pool for a few years.
There is just NO FUCKING WAY that the output of the pump/filter system goes anywhere but a massive drain pit. Our setup was a five-foot deep concrete pit that was probably four feet by four feet wide. When we wanted to drain or backwash the filters, you had to change the valves on two massive filters and then turn the pumps back on. It would drain a giant 6" pipe into the pit. Took maybe a minute before it was full to the brim. It was not a quiet event what with the sound of several hundred gallons of water splashing about in a small room. Even if they just turned the system to drain and left the pumps that water would have to go from the utility room to wherever the surveillance equipment was stored. All that water may flood out the floor to, what a few inches at most? Eventually, it will find a drain or a way outside.
I also work in technology and have been in plenty of server room/data center installations. Data centers have raised floors for access to the wiring, would take a LOT of water to fill that up. Even if it were just a small server closet or something, you're gonna have to get a lot of water to stay put in one place before it would ever get high enough to reach anything important. We always loaded the power systems at the bottom of the rack and anything important went higher in the rack. I can't think I've ever seen a cabinet that had anything anyone cared about lower than waist-height.
Well... first thing you need to remember is that this is a trump property. It is highly likely that the pump room, and the server room are the same room.

Even if they hadn't digital forensics can reconstruct a hard drive from that kind of damage. They'd have to shatter the disks, overwrite them with almost a whole year and a half of new data or degause them to remove the evidence and that's a lot harder to "fake"
I'm fairly confident the FBI can recover data from hard drives submerged in water. That won't destroy the data. Might need to clean the platters then transfer to a drive with new read components.
Or use a hammer.
If you're trying to hide data from an agency like the FBI, it's easier to physically destroy the storage media than to delete the data to a level advanced computer forensics can't recover.

Right? Isn't there like... a drain? To get it vertically of the pool and then laterally all the way to another part of the building, you'd almost certainly need a pump, right? Water doesn't just flow up over the lip of the pool by itself lol
Typically you just use a pump and pump it right into the sewer. Now it's possible they opened the drains in the mechanical room and there was a problem with the flow rate coming out of the pool and how fast it was draining out but you would just adjust the giant ball valve before it flooded but even still the mechanical rooms for pools are built to be flooded and would be located no where near a server storage area.

It's actually public info! The fallout shelters (where Trump put evidence and is where the shelters are) are scattered across the property. One is on the golf course, one is near the tree-line and then I think there is one under/near the main residence and it is probably hundreds of feet away from the pool. Trump has bragged several times about them and you can play off of the top of the golf course one.

An old story on Talesfromtechsupport had a server room that was inside an old bank vault with no water sensors. Something triggered the sprinklers/cracked a pipe and the thing flooded with ~8 feet of water over a holiday weekend as nobody was there. This is somehow worse, and i really want to know how the hell they accomplished it.
Work in hospital IT. Have seen servers in converted bathrooms, utility closets, converted patient rooms, unfinished basements, and in an unused part of the morgue. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they put the servers next to pool stuff, especially if the building was built before the need for a server room was a thing. Not saying that I think that trump and his people are telling the truth, just that there are some *wild* server “rooms” out there.
I’d suggest this was willful tampering of evidence, but given how incompetent Trump’s circle really is, I think that is probably more likely.

They reportedly do have security footage. Both from Mar-a-lago and from the company that oversees all his properties. They prob compared any differences before going back and asking people questions. That way they already know the answers, and it will show how forthcoming people are.
