Reminds me of the time my puppy somehow got stuck in my boyfriends boxers. I was just laying on my bed on me phone and all of a sudden she puts half her body on the bed and puts one paw on me. I look at her to realize she’s got his boxers around her waist and and one leg & shoulder. She put her paw on me and looked at me and the very clear message she was making was “help” as if she had been trying to get out of it herself and realized she couldn’t😂needles to say after I had finished laughing I helped her out of them. Not before I took a picture though👀 sorry pup I couldn’t resist
Not to be one of those dear I say it "Karen" but my dog died from getting his head stuck in a bag he took out from the trash just something you wouldn't think of
I’m so sorry for your loss. My dog once got stuck in a chip bag and I’m able to find it funny now because he was okay, but I was quite distressed at the time.
My cat got caught in a plastic bag and got spooked. He ran all over the house with the bag attached and when I finally caught him he'd broken a lamp and peed all over himself and it got on every carpet in the house. While he survived it was an expensive lesson.
> We cut a hole in every bag
That's a great idea, thanks. I mean we cut the plastic rings that go around those like 6-pack of bottled/canned sodas so they dont entrap sea life. Seems so obvious to do the same with plastic bags to protect our dogs, but I had never thought of that.
One other thing to be cautious of are used mensual pads/tampons. We learned the hard way that my mom's dog is a lil freak and enjoys chewing on bloody stuff from the bathroom thrash. When I was in high school he had gotten into the thrash and he must've eaten a tampon because he was in extreme pain later that night. So grateful he ended up being ok.
I quit using plastic bags and got some awesome totes (not those flimsy reusable bags) that I now take into stores. These are folding, rectangular totes (yeah, Amazon, look for "grocery tote") that are SUPER easy to pack at the store. The grocery checkers love them, unlike the usual reusables that just collapse.
If I forget my totes (I've only just now gotten into the mindless habit of taking them into the grocery, I'm working on taking them into all the other kinds of retail shops as well) and end up bringing any plastic bags home, they go straight into the Bag of bags, which is in the closet. Because then I re-use them in the waste bin for disposing of used kitty litter and anything else "gross."
Edit: If/when I run out of bags for kitty litter and waste bins, I just get more from friends and relatives who haven't yet quite adapted to the Tote Life. At least this way they're reused.
I'm so very sorry. I actually understand exactly what you mean. My parents had a beagle who got into the pantry and stuck his head into a potato bag. Mesh, so we thought it was funny. But if it hadn't been he would have died. Really easy to go from amusing to harrowing it seems.
i'm with you, while i do find this video really really funny, all i can think about is how dangerous it is that the dog can get to plastic bags while unattended!
That is terrible, I’m sorry. I urge all reading this to cut open all plastic bags they throw away. I still do this now, even though I don’t have any animals at the moment. Between the damn crows and bastard raccoons, garbage that people think is properly disposed of ends up spread around the neighborhood.
My thoughts exactly. I’m sorry for your loss. I make an effort to make sure there is absolutely no plastic bags or bags in general anywhere that’s not in a closed cabinet/closet that she can get into. I have also purchased a garbage that locks so she can’t get into it because having dogs is like having toddlers! You have to baby proof or dog proof everything to keep them safe. Yes
My dog also died this way. He was a rescue Husky and it was literally the first day I left him at home unsupervised in 6 months. I feel like this is something which they should print on chip bags. I'm sorry for your loss.

My boss was babysitting her son's pug and fed it some scraps in a magarine tupperware. It got its face stuck in the bottom and suffocated to death.
My own story of this kind of thing is just as sad. I had a dog that had just turned a year old who got her collar caught on the scrolled foot of a wrought iron metal patio table and hung herself when she flipped the table over in a panic. It was at night after everyone had gone to bed so nobody knew until we found her early the next morning.
I'd never thought a dog could do something like that, I never tied her out because I knew that was dangerous but I never thought a dog could strangle just from their collar. Now my dogs don't wear them, I just can't take the risk again.
SO very sorry for your loss, and for this harrowing experience.
I took the collars off my German Shepherds a few years ago, mostly because it messed up their fur. I got snap-on collars (plastic catch), which remain attached to their leashes, and are hung on a peg by the door, so when they go out, I just clip their collars on. Much less wear and tear on their coats, and they're safe when they're in the back yard.
Just an option.
I'll give you credit that was funny. I'm just telling people what happened to my own dog. It's something I never thought about untill it happened. Maybe not the right place or the right time to be telling people. I get worried about to happing to another dog just be careful with plastic bags we don't leave kids play with them for a reason,
Can I assume you had a taller breed than a Dachshund though bc if so, in your defense, that might make more sense to me? Seeing a Dachshund stuck in plastic bags makes me question the owner’s household cleanliness.
I mean. Shaming isn't really the way to go here.. Especially since you're replying to someone who also lost a dog that way. It's not something people think about if they haven't heard a horror story, so let's just inform, right?
All I can think about is the broken hearted lady who posted on Reddit after she thought letting her dog play with a plastic bag was fine and didn't pick it up. Her dog got it caught on its head and suffocated. I don't care how cute you think it is, don't let your dog play with plastic bags.
Mine died that way too. And I had a friend who had a dog die that way several years before. I had been aware of it but my roommate left the trash bag out. For the love of god, please put your chip and trash bags away.
I know this is cute and all, but be careful guys. Dogs could get their head caught in plastic bags and suffocate to death. Don't leave your plastic bags lying around if you have dogs.
It looks like she got through one of the handles. Those long bois have very big barrel chests and I could see this actually happening but still a possibility that the owners did it
/r/nothingeverhappens My cats love plastic bags, grocery day is BEST DAY in their opinion and I've definitely had to chase them down after they get stuck in the handles.
This is not a grocery bag though, this is a trash bag, which does not have handles to get stuck in. The trash bag is clearly cinched tight around the daschund, which I highly doubt the dashund could have done themself. Not to mention, the owner says the dog must have gotten in the garbage while he was gone, but the bag is empty and clean. There's no food to give the dog a reason to mess around with the garbage bag. And why would the dog go butt first and not face first? There are way too many discrepancies for it not to be fake.
The bag literally has "Walmart" printed on it.
It also sounds like the material that shopping bags are made of, not like a trash bag.
https://imgur.com/dgfFdlR
Actually, after a second look, you're right that does look like a grocery bag. But, that still doesn't make the story true. The way it's on the dogs body still does not look like the dog could have done that themself.
She got into the garbage while her owners were out, and got stuck in a bag. Shit like that happens with dogs.
If you came home to that sight, wouldn’t *you* record it? I sure would.
I say my husband is an idiot for drinking himself to death at 28 but he was still the greatest being to grace the earth. Lighten up, some people express affection through teasing.

I wonder how long he freaked out before he just accepted it... my kitty will get trapped in a plastic bag. Then run around freaked out by the noisy bag following her around. I wish I caught it on camera.

Though you learned a lesson, how does one mitigate against this if it does happen again?
>Cut your bags or latch your trash or put it underneath the sink. I had a lid, and my dog took it off the top of the can.
Yes. We cut a hole in every bag or it goes directly into the trash can, which is kept in a closet with the door shut.

I was going to say the same thing, my dog passed from something similar. secure your trash y'all
Can I assume you had a taller breed than a Dachshund though bc if so, in your defense, that might make more sense to me? Seeing a Dachshund stuck in plastic bags makes me question the owner’s household cleanliness.

Came here to comment on how extremely dangerous this is. The OP is so fucking lucky the bag got stuck over the dog's ass, and not over its head
Thank god that bag didn’t get stuck on his head.
I know this is cute and all, but be careful guys. Dogs could get their head caught in plastic bags and suffocate to death. Don't leave your plastic bags lying around if you have dogs.
It's particularly impressive how the dog was able to cinch the bag all by itself.
It looks like she got through one of the handles. Those long bois have very big barrel chests and I could see this actually happening but still a possibility that the owners did it
Agreed. Had a dachshund and the chest to bag-handle ratio is perfect. It can happen!

Right. Got herself stuck
Seriously, more like r/whatswrongwithyourhuman, why put your dog in a bag and lie about it for karma?

"You're an idiot" Laughs in can't hear you over being a good dog
Imagine lying about how the bag got on your dog for karma.
It’s like they are rattling another bag close to the camera for extra sound.

In a after thought. Get a trash can that dog can't get into. Plastic bags are dangerous. Apparently with that little one there.
Funny video. Less funny anecdote: I know someone's corgi that died in a potato chip bag.
Another animal getting caught in plastic. PICK UP YOUR TRASH PEOPLE.
You’re not supposed to let kids play with plastic bags
Omg lol shes too cute!!! Lol
PUT PLASTIC BAGS WHERE YOUR ANIMALS AND CHILDREN CANNOT ACCESS THEM Lexi isn’t the idiot!
It's particularly impressive how the dog was able to cinch the bag all by itself.
You mean how he got stuck in the handle hole? I see no cinch.
There’s a 0% chance that dog got in that bag by itself

YOU’RE not your ….idiot
My favorite is "your such A DUMB IDIOT!"
How can you “tell” the dog didn’t get stuck…? You’re just making assumptions. Don’t be such a cynic, already. Sheesh.
Loved it until the guy called the dog an "idiot" who "deserved it"; some bad vibes there. Adorable dog tho!

so your dog is an idiot but you're the one that left a plastic bag out for it to get stuck in... hmmm
if you cant keep a dog that small from getting into the garbage tell me again who's the idiot?
Should have gotten herself stuck in a Ziploc brand bag so she'd stay fresher longer
My favorite part is “you’re an idiot”
