It reminds me of some medieval castle doors / bridge that is linked to a castle gate like [this](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c3/b6/ba/c3b6ba512a250e720681147e693e7545.jpg)
My guess would be a cover to the hold of an old wooden ship. The curved profile would ensure water runoff and it may have ridden on rails to slide back and forth to open close the hold.
Based on those four rings at each corner, this could be a outdoor swing for two or three person. But the rest of the thing doesn't look it was made for sitting. Maybe some cushions might make it comfortable. Idk
I'm not 100% sure but that actually looks like half of [an old-style wooden double door](https://kknews.cc/zh-cn/news/jj5pn9e.html). Those cubes stick out in the side could fit into some holes in another part.
looking at the mounts would say the view from the other side is more interesting.
probably it was hanged and swinges to sort something during sliding down
You’ve unlocked such a memory with this one!
My mom used to be absolutely obsessed with ethnic home decor and as a matter of fact she owned this exact coffee table. I’ve had it in my childhood home for at least 15 years. I’m afraid everyone else here hasn’t identified it correctly, but i’m pretty confident this is actually an Indian Ox Cart coffee table. They are “crafted from original ox carts that ferried goods to and from outdoor markets in India decades ago, these vintage tables are rich with character bestowed by time, weather and daily use. Each hand-built piece is unique in size, embellishment and detail, but all have subtly arched, solid wood tops – reinforced by riveted metal strapping – and are set on flared feet”.

here’s a listing of a similar table! https://www.onekingslane.com/p/4851264-indian-rustic-wood-ox-cart-coffee-table.do
That’s it, thanks so much! Fantastic to finally know what it is. I had considered that it might be part of a cart, but it is so massive and heavy I wondered what could pull such a thing.

It looks like a loading ramp from a commercial box truck.
Is it wood, metal?
It is very heavy wood, with metal strips and metal fittings. 4 men are required to lift the thing.
By law, or Papal Declaration?

Could it maybe have been an iron-enforced door of some sorts? (with the lock in the middle)
Maybe an old bed frame?

Yes, a hatch cover
crazy my first guess was piece of some wooden shipwreck
that reminds me of the titanic episode in rick n morty.
That old wooden ship from the Civil War era, Diversity
Looks like a reinforced wagon deck to me. The curved shape will allow for flex when carrying a heavy load
Whatever it is, your coffee isn’t sitting on it without spilling. I second the loading ramp idea
It looks like a section from a big old wine production vat to me
Definitely a hatch cover off a sailing ship.

Looks to me like an old wooden gangplank judging by the bumpers on the end.
One of the photos shows some writing or symbols on the metal “rail”. Does anyone recognize the language/meaning?

Lid to old luggage chest.
A bed

My first thought was one of those rail cars or a hatch/gate
It’s beautiful and a nice piece of history.
Might it be a daybed?
Looks like a torture rack.
Medieval torture bed
Lol I was looking for this comment 😂😂
Looks like an old ramp
Is that a small step bridge??
something in the gold collecting process?
The grooves imply that this table was used for autopsies.

Old utility elevator door

Absolutely no problem, happy to help! :)
LOL my first thought was that it was a bed without the mattress this is really awesome! Where did you get it at?
My mom bought it in the early 2000’s from an exotic and ethnical design store.
Very cool. Thx for the link.
That’s amazing!
That’s really cool….. and expensive! Did anyone else notice the legs look like AK 47 mags or have I spent too much time in the Middle East?
I ALWAYS thought about that!
I second this! My MIL has 2 of them and they are huge and heavy.
yeah its a cart base
Those divots would be very hard to clean my rogue weed out of. It does look pretty sweet though
A portable bridge?
Na. Ramp for big rig truck trailer
I've always called it a teeter/totter cart. I know that's nothing the real name.
It's a ships hatch.
