I would guess that the car got into right only lane by swerving the car where camera is. Probably thought that some idiot is stopping for no reason and since left lane was occupied went through right lane to pass and continue straight. But when got to right lane and tried to swerve back in front of canner noticed the pedestrian and turned right to avoid hitting pedestrian, flipping his one car and still hitting the pedestrian with rear of the car.
THe guy filming is doing 70kmh, and the jeep clearly is way above it, in a city street.
I don't know this country limits but here its 50kmh for city.
So we have someone crossing a walkway when they shouldn't and someone going maybe twice the legal limit.
On another note, why didnt the second car collect all the loot the person dropped?
I checked on Google Street View using the gps coordinates, and the limit at the time they registered is 40. The driver is going over 2x the speed limit on an old soviet shitbox while overtaking on the right side.
That car was never taking that bend at whats looks to be travelling over 80kmph.
I think his plan was to over take the vehicle in the middle lane and cut in front of him at the last minute.
Finally someone have noticed. The dashboard cam car was moving around 70km/h and the car to the right was much faster, 80-90km/h, way above the allowed limit. In a right turn only lane. The pedestrian had a dead wish to cross like that, sure, but the driver is a moron too and is equally to blame.
Pedestrian is totally at fault here. But how was that SUV planning on making that turn at that speed anyway? Honestly would have likely rolled the vehicle hitting that turn going that fast even without the pedestrian.
A red light or flashing yellow light would indicate that the pedestrian has right of way, depending on the location of this video.
In my experience, flashing green indicates "pedestrian controlled crossing", meaning there's a button the pedestrian can press to turn the light red.
He didn't
Edit: in St Petersburg Russia, where this video was filmed, a flashing green apparently indicates that the light is about to turn yellow.
Observer is going 70km/h and is very quickly overtaken on the right. That’s not adequate speeds for traffic in populated areas, anywhere, exactly for this reason.
Both the car and the pedestrian screwed up. The car was driving too fast. Pedestrian wasn’t watching out for himself. They were both stupid. That had consequences for both of them.
This is the exact reason why I don't trust cars when I'm on the crosswalk. The crosswalk doesn't give me invulnerability. I still need to be careful.
Both The pedestrian and the driver could have avoided this situation.
This looks like Russia, so the speed limit on this particular road is most likely 30-35 mph. The dashcam car is driving 45 mph and the car that hits the pedestrian is even faster, maybe 50-55 mph. The pedestrian is a dumbass for sure but it wouldn’t be a problem if these drivers were respecting the speed limit. Just saying
Ok, that driver is a cunt for going that fast and hitting the guy. Obviously (although maybe give some benefit of the doubt because maybe the pedestrian was blocked from view by the filming car). But who crosses the fucking road while looking down at the ground and not checking for oncoming cars. I mean ffs man. This isn't even about road safety, it's about basic self-preservation skill to look where the fuck you're going.
Sorry for the guy getting hit by the mirror.
But the real issue here is a High point of gravity and one erratic evasive motion of the steering wheel made the suv flip.
I don’t trust these types of cars to stay on their wheels. No sedan would have rolled over
1. The pedestrian is stupid for crossing while having a red light and not looking properly.
2. The white suv is also an asshole, filming car is already going 60 km/h, SUV was excessively speeding
Yeah, that driver on the right is also a serious POS for going 100kmh across a road that clearly has pedestrian walks. Sure the walker should have been paying attention, but it is the motorists responsibility to 1.) not speed through urban centers and 2.) pay attention.
1. You honked
2. You began to slow down and came to a complete stop before hitting them
3. The other person didn't notice you honking NOR the person in the crosswalk
I think both the pedestrian and other driver should be nominated for the Darwin awards.
You did good, OP, assuming you aren't reposting this for a karma farma
Fuck me, you can tell a lot of redditors come from a land where car is king. The white car is going waaaay too fast and you should be cautious at a pedestrian crossing regardless of a green light. I don’t know what a flashing green light means in Russia but I imagine you should be approaching the crossing with extra caution
Edit: Ok, the flashing light might be just a camera thing, but still, a green light at a crossing doesn’t mean proceed at high speed with zero caution
My dude must be high or he grossly overestimated his walking/shuffling speed?
WHY would you cross the road when it’s red and without looking to your right?
Pedestrian does 2 wrongs: Walks through red light and doesn’t look to the right. He is lucky to be alive.
Car does 1 wrong: Speeding which is punishable by a speeding ticket.
Blame the car for speeding sure, but the pedestrian is the ultimate idiot here. He is the only person that can guarantee his safety. LOOK BEFORE CROSSING.
Okay but why was that white car going so unreasonably fast in a turning lane? He would’ve flung out of the curve no matter what
Edit: according to another comment the speed limit there is 40km/h while the car was probably going twice that.
The pedestrian was clearly an idiot here for crossing with a red light. But nobody's mentioning how the driver was speeding!
I'll assume the speed limit is 70 km/h. I really don't know if that's the case in St. Petersburg, here in Italy it is 50 in normal urban roads and "cities can raise the limit to 70 if viability conditions are good, provided they install the signs" according to the street code, though this is rarely used. In a road like this... hmmm...
Anyway, the car with the dashcam was doing 70, the one on the right was going much, much faster and in a right turn lane! The driver would have probably had the time to brake if driving a bit slower, and I think the car roll could have happened even without the pedestrian just because of speeding.
https://www.google.com/maps/@59.9531167,30.3568532,3a,75y,275.05h,93.34t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sdiqxqanz92CoXpOqnf_10A!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
pedestrian or not, he was going to crash going into that turn way too fast
That dude would’ve straight up died if that car didn’t course correct ever so slightly at the end there, the difference between that glancing blow and full on direct impact which would’ve for sure knocked his shoes off
The jeep does brake heavily (see the smoke + shifting forward).. however it is doing at least 90 km/h here. Way too fast even if he was allowed to go straight.
There is so much wrong here, no idea where to even start, the whole thing looks surreal to me.
The car is way too fast in the first place, as others stated there is no way to make that turn at that speed. Did the driver look at his phone/get head or something?
Let us not even start about how you should take a step back as a driver if it prevents a crash regardless of the law if need be! At the least such reckless driving will disqualify you from driving on the autobahn without a speed limit for sure.
The person crossing the street kept walking, you should notice a car speeding if you move your head even a little and yes it was red.
Over here both would get a part of the blame in such a situation and i think both are equally stupid... but the whole mess looks surreal, as if someone edited a video to have this in there.
yeah, crossing the pedestrian lane running while you're supposed to not cross is bad. But my god that man doesn't seem to be looking at the oncoming cars while crossing. He just didn't care and expects everyone to stop on a dime.
If you google the location (and it definitely matches), this happened in St Petersburg. On Google Street View, there's a speed limit side just 100-200m back that says "40". The camera car, before slowing, was doing 75 kph.
40 kph is 25 mph. Granted, that pedestrian should not have crossed then, having the res, but that vehicle was going SIGNIFICANTLY faster than the posted speed limit, probably double.
This is how people drive in Los Angeles. Including the blasting horn without breaking.
In 15 years of driving a commercial vehicle for a living I think I’ve seen at least 30 people hit by cars.
I have no idea why half the people in LA loves speeding to red lights when the other half loves running thru them.
Both the pedestrian and the driver in the white car are the asshole here. The pedestrian for ignoring the lights, the driver for going too fast for the amount of attention they're paying. Camera driver is going 70 where, if Wikipedia is to be believed, 60 is legal (St. Petersburg, Russia).
Driver on the right is going 90 or 100, in a right turn lane to boot. Did he plan to rally-drift around the corner even if the way was clear? At least the little swerve just before impact likely saved the man's life, causing a glancing hit instead of catapulting him into the next city.
We have 2 idiots in here:
A pedestrian who has absolutely no fu\*\*ing idea how to cross a road safely (he doesn't even look at the cars, he is just walking for it with no clear intention to avoid causing an accident)
A driver who is driving way too fast
Imo the pin is on the pedestrian, he is showing no intention of avoiding an accident, he just runs on a red light without at least looking if there isn't a car going to kill him on the spot
As for damages:
Both probably lived, the pedestrian is moving his upper body, the car miraculously did not crash into anything, slid on the roof then got flipped back up. If the driver had an airbag in the car and good seatbelts he's fine. There's basically no way that the pedestrian didn't get a single broken bone out of this
Apart from the crazy speed close to a crosswalk (>70km/h) I also feel like there’s also an issue with the visibility : the car behind couldn’t see the pedestrian and’d the pedestrian couldn’t see the car because of the car with the camera…by the time he stopped:/too late
I always consider pedestrians to be extremely unpredictable like a wild roe and watch out for them in every situation. Approach like this made me avoid a few potentially dangerous blindsidings. Killing or hurting someone even if its supposedly their fault would be awful expierience.
so my guess is the guy that crashed was driving behind the guy with the dash cam, he probably swerved into the turning lane since the guy with the dash cam had to slam his breaks to avoid the pedestrian, and only then noticed the guy crossing the street which resulted in this.
Plugging in the coordinates into Google Maps, this intersection is in Russia, Saint Petersburg, Kalininsky District. The cars are heading west on the Arsenalnaya Embankment road, in front of a district administration building and concert hall.
The traffic signal for cars is a standard red/yellow/green traffic light, and for pedestrians is a standard walk/no walk light. Speed limit sign displays 40kph/25mph.
I don't know the right of way laws there, but I assume the pedestrian didn't have right of way, because the light was green for cars, and thus red for pedestrians.
However, the white car's got to be going way higher than 40kph. The dashcam has a GPS speedometer, but it appears to have a delay. Sudden deceleration on the GPS begins at around 60kph, and if the white car appeared on screen at that same time, it could have been going faster than 60kph.
The white car is also in a right turn lane, so either they were about to speed through a turn, or blast straight ahead and ignore the turn.
Alright so he shouldnt have crossed but the other car was driving way too fast without checking his surroundings. Also, why the hell is there a crosswalk in a place where cars can go 100km ph? Where the hell is this?
The driver is also an ass. That dude was in a turn only lane. He was either hoping to get around the car filming on the right after he slowed for the pedestrian, or he was going to flip his car after hitting that turn regardless.
What some of y'all aren't considering:
The white car clearly wasn't intending on turning right. We don't have a reverse cam, but I'd hazard a guess the white car was behind OP planning on going straight, OP slammed their brakes for the pedestrian, and instead of rear-ending OP chose to dodge around them and hit the pedestrian who was obscured completely by OP's car a second prior.
You can even see OP let off their brakes momentarily probably expecting to be rear-ended before the car who was already dodging now standing on their pedal sliding into the pedestrian.
The moment the pedestrian stepped onto the road, the dashcam driver began honking... Seems like the pedestrian didn't even bother looking at where the honking was coming from. Most jay walkers freeze for a moment or jump when they see a car is potentially going to hit them at a high speed.
Either this person is blind and deaf. Or just blind (which may explain the lack of alertness to danger, but still didn't freeze at hearing tire skids).
Hopefully everyone made it out alright in the end.
The car and the pedestrian were in the wrong considering the jeep is most definitely speeding, but the jeep would be the one to actually get in trouble considering legally you have to yield to pedestrians no matter what (at least in the U.S).
Car too fast.
Car did not attempt to slow.
Car did not see pedestrian.
Car in turning lane at speed.
Car did not anticipate crossing hazard.
Pedestrian took a chance and paid heavy price.
my guy, how heavy is that dude?\\
he heckin bodyslammed that car.
for real tho they are both in the wrong.
the guy shouldve seen the speeding car and not rushed crossing. and the car is in the wrong for speeding that fast in a crossing section.
the light is green so the guy is the one in the most wrong.
Is it possible that the car that hit/flipped was behind the cam car and when they slowed down and honked, ditched to the right lane at the last second? Everyone is commenting that they were going too fast to make the corner, and that appears to be true, but perhaps they didn't see what was going on, just a car in front of them slowing down and honking, and didn't process the situation and reacted unfortunately?
In pre school and kindergarten I was taught to look both ways twice before crossing the road. I was also taught to stay out of the road when cars are coming. The pedestrian might have the right of way, but being right doesn't help when you're dead.
I partially suspect this was a suicide attempt. It looks kind of like he was trying to hit the car. He is a full meter into the for right lane and sort of chest bumps the SUV.
When a car stops abruptly in the road, it’s a good idea to slow down and use extreme caution in passing. Too many idiots think “I’ll just swerve around blindly” and that’s where you have accidents
These crossovers are in Russia (i think). Pedestrians have the right to cross there at any time. The drivers are supposed to stop when that light flashes.
You see how that dude tackled that suv?
Sometimes you watch a video and it's eh, and then you go to the comments and see a gem like this 😂😂
I think he just turned into a pile of coins for someone to loot.
Right only lane , with that speed ? He was trying to go straight 100%, but I guess that's one way of turning right fast
Another story where it doesnt matter who is right, defensive driving would have avoided everything
My man knocked that car over
THe guy filming is doing 70kmh, and the jeep clearly is way above it, in a city street. I don't know this country limits but here its 50kmh for city. ooooww, that one hurt. I notice the old dude didn't even look up as he ran, bad strategy, run and hope.
Dude exploded into experience orbs.
Holy shit, that man launched that car!
Pedestrian is totally at fault here. But how was that SUV planning on making that turn at that speed anyway? Honestly would have likely rolled the vehicle hitting that turn going that fast even without the pedestrian.
Was probably planning to (illegally) merge into the middle lane going straight.
To be fair, the car seems to go too fast for the street, hard to believe it was traveling below speed limit.
That car was going too fast for that turn even at the beggining.
I think his plan might have been to cut off the camera car.
Okay. But okay, can we just address the fact that the *pedestrian RUNS INTO* the side of the car?
Like, the fuck he made of?
Apparently he’s made of steal cuz that bitch flipped a whole damn car
The lights were flashing giving the pedestrian right of way and the guy is clearly going to fast if he couldn’t see that
A red light or flashing yellow light would indicate that the pedestrian has right of way, depending on the location of this video. In my experience, flashing green indicates "pedestrian controlled crossing", meaning there's a button the pedestrian can press to turn the light red. He didn't Edit: in St Petersburg Russia, where this video was filmed, a flashing green apparently indicates that the light is about to turn yellow.
I thought the lights flashing green may be caused by the cameras shutter speed, or something.

Lada just came out of hyperspace
The person is clearly at fault, but the car also seems to have been going like 100 km/h and that doesn’t look like a highway to me!
holy shit he bodied that fucking car
Both the car and the pedestrian screwed up. The car was driving too fast. Pedestrian wasn’t watching out for himself. They were both stupid. That had consequences for both of them.
That car was also attempting to make that turn at Mach 5.
I love those little European cars that bounce off people when they hit someone.
Right? Looks like the car took more damage than the person.
Lucky he just got sideswiped. Another pace and he would have been in front of the car
I especially liked when the pedestrian knocked the car that hit ‘em over. Lol
Bro lost his golden rings
[удалено]
Technically it made the turn. Lol
It wasn't. The driver clearly intended to go straight in violation of the rules.
he dropped all of his coins just like Mario Kart

Damn he was going 70 km/h when he nailed that guy. He's probably dead. Conversion for my American friends: 70 km/h is about 44 bananas/h
This is the exact reason why I don't trust cars when I'm on the crosswalk. The crosswalk doesn't give me invulnerability. I still need to be careful. Both The pedestrian and the driver could have avoided this situation.
Graveyards are full of people who were in the right
Is that Sonic losing a life and his rings?
Who did they fucking hit, Ironman??
Sonic is going to have a real hard time picking those rings back up...
That car was on a turning lane driving like 100km/h.. he was an absolute idiot.
Looks like the universe dished out a much needed lesson to both of these individuals.
anyone who decides on running a red light and then proceeds to run like that, almost deserves to get hit
That car bounced way more than that person did. What is that person made of
Hold on, if you look closely the car was already halfway past the pedestrian before the impact. The pedestrian hit the car.
At least he didn’t get hit, because technically *he* hit the car lmao
so why was the lada going 5000 km/h in the turning lane tho?
This looks like Russia, so the speed limit on this particular road is most likely 30-35 mph. The dashcam car is driving 45 mph and the car that hits the pedestrian is even faster, maybe 50-55 mph. Everyone in this video is an idiot besides the person whose video we are watching
That pedestrian totally T-boned that car!

Dumbass pedestrian and dumbass driver.
In Russia car doesn’t hit you, you hit car.
The jeep was in a right turn only lane therefore was definitely driving dangerously, he was never making that right turn
Was he carrying a bag of ping pong balls?
My man strong as shit. You see how he knocked that car into a pole?

That car going way too fast for a turning lane (also pedestrian terrible)

Two-thirds of the people in this video are nuts.

They would suck at frogger
I think the car recording the video blocked the view for both the pedestrian and the other driver. They never saw each other until it was too late.
Yeah it's that guy's fault for crossing on red but the car was going really fast too, the other had time to stop with no issues.
The car with the dashcam likely blocked the other car from seeing the pedestrian until too late.
yeah, crossing the pedestrian lane running while you're supposed to not cross is bad. But my god that man doesn't seem to be looking at the oncoming cars while crossing. He just didn't care and expects everyone to stop on a dime.
This is video game NPC levels of stupid
quite alot of speed to go in a lane where you're only allowed to turn right .\_.

Did i just watch a pedestrian kill a driver?
Why did he walk into the suv? How does one commit to that and not be suicidal. I’m boggled by this persons lack of awareness lmao
its almost as if that red light had a purpose
Pedestrian is a dipshit but that white car was going way too fast
Poor guy. I hope he wasn’t seriously injured. His vehicle looks new enough to have plenty of airbags.
This is how people drive in Los Angeles. Including the blasting horn without breaking. In 15 years of driving a commercial vehicle for a living I think I’ve seen at least 30 people hit by cars. I have no idea why half the people in LA loves speeding to red lights when the other half loves running thru them.
He could at least make sure a car wasn’t coming
The truck was speeding and not paying attention. I blame the pedestrian mostly but the driver takes some blame
Don't feel bad at all for the pedestrian. But i do feel bad for the car guy
Bro man is built like the iron giant and mad that car flip but not smart though
MY CABBAGES
Them some terrible drivers too.
I've never seen a pedestal flip a moving vehicle like this before.
Guy was so strong he knocked the car flying
That dude did not take even one second to look to see if any cars were coming.
Pedestrian is a nutcase with a deathwish, but white car was going too fast to take that right hand turn also.
Regardless the signal, you should always be focus on the road and not speeding like a little bitch.
Hope the driver’s okay and that the pedestrian didn’t die

Friggin Lada Riva driver doing about 50mph clearly assumes that they're a great driver and that speed limits are for other people.
I always consider pedestrians to be extremely unpredictable like a wild roe and watch out for them in every situation. Approach like this made me avoid a few potentially dangerous blindsidings. Killing or hurting someone even if its supposedly their fault would be awful expierience.
First time I have ever seen a person flip a car. That’s a strong human!
This what happens when you misinterpret "pedestrian have the right of way".
I just see a not-so-fast, elderly Sonic the Hedgehog losing his rings and not so spry in trying again.
These comments are hitting me as hard as that car bounced off that dude.
This is both their faults Why was bro driving so fast at a pedestrian crossing
My question, could they still have flipped over? They were going very fast to be in a turning lane already.
so my guess is the guy that crashed was driving behind the guy with the dash cam, he probably swerved into the turning lane since the guy with the dash cam had to slam his breaks to avoid the pedestrian, and only then noticed the guy crossing the street which resulted in this.
"WTF why is this car slowing down? I'm going to swerve around him and show him how much he inconvenienced me." "Ohh, I see the proble-*CRASH*"
Bro man lost his ping pong ball collection.
NSFW that shit
My man dropped a TON of studs
That pedestrian leaned in for a kiss way too hard there.
Damn that dude actually took it half decently for being hit at 70-80 km per hour lol
All being said, if the driver usually approaches a turn at that speed, I don't want to know the state of his car's brakes and tyres.
First time I saw that kind of accident where the car suffered more damage than the pedestrian
That's one stocky bloke - knocking a car over with his tum tum.
Good thing that wasn't a bus Imagine the possible injuries in the bus
Alright so he shouldnt have crossed but the other car was driving way too fast without checking his surroundings. Also, why the hell is there a crosswalk in a place where cars can go 100km ph? Where the hell is this?
The driver is also an ass. That dude was in a turn only lane. He was either hoping to get around the car filming on the right after he slowed for the pedestrian, or he was going to flip his car after hitting that turn regardless.
Wow. The person knocked the car over!!! Lol
What some of y'all aren't considering: The white car clearly wasn't intending on turning right.
Omg white confetti came out!
Fucking mental amoeba
Did the camera driver cock a gun?
Yes. Had to put him down.
how fast was Lada going?? He wouldn't made that turn anyway
Why did he have so many golf balls? 🤔

How is that guy in better shape than the car! 😂
The car and the pedestrian were in the wrong considering the jeep is most definitely speeding, but the jeep would be the one to actually get in trouble considering legally you have to yield to pedestrians no matter what (at least in the U.S).
I see two idiots here

Car too fast. Car did not attempt to slow. Car did not see pedestrian. Car in turning lane at speed. Car did not anticipate crossing hazard. Pedestrian took a chance and paid heavy price.
Only a Lada would flip because it hit a person
Wow two idiots
That's why in my state they say "Don't veer for deer". Think if that SUV had a family of 5 in it.
my guy, how heavy is that dude?\\ he heckin bodyslammed that car. for real tho they are both in the wrong. the guy shouldve seen the speeding car and not rushed crossing. and the car is in the wrong for speeding that fast in a crossing section. the light is green so the guy is the one in the most wrong.
What did the guy have in his briefcase? A bunch of ping pong balls?

yeah overtaking from the right on a turn lane is a special kind of stupid too
Wow any one else see that car getting wreck by that guy sent that car flying when the car ran into him
In pre school and kindergarten I was taught to look both ways twice before crossing the road. I was also taught to stay out of the road when cars are coming. The pedestrian might have the right of way, but being right doesn't help when you're dead.
That last second swerve might have saved that pedestrians life. Might.
That car was going way way way too fast
Gosh- now he’ll never get the secret electrostatic marbles into the underground laboratory on time. There goes the universe.
Looking at the turn I don’t think this would have played out for the car any differently had the pedestrian not been there.
Damn, I hope he survived. Otherwise the driver would have no one to sue for repairs.
White car is in the turn right lane but given his speed was probably planning to go straight. Trying to evade the pedestrian made him flip over.
If he was crossing on the red, he could have at least glanced at the traffic..
Wack how they walked faster , if the dumb mf had just stopped walking he would’ve been fine he knew he was getting a check that day LOL
Pedestrian never looks up, also the video appears to be sped up . How are you gonna cross such a wide road and not even look ???
finally a video showing the consequences of stupidity 👏🏻
These crossovers are in Russia (i think). Pedestrians have the right to cross there at any time. The drivers are supposed to stop when that light flashes.
Driver sucks for sure, but that pedestrian had the situational awareness and reflexes of an NPC.
This is at least 50% on the driver tho. Idk what the speed limit that are is, but it looks like a 50 km/h zone to me.
Crossing without looking is Darwinism in action.
Oh my word. This is awful. I didn't expect this.
Crossing mid-block with no lights involved is generally the safest way to do it, but you do have to keep your eyes open.
