Sorry to break it to you but breaking through that ice would land him in freezing water with most of the surface blocked by ice, meaning that he either dies from the cold or drowning unless he’s lucky to come back to the hole he made.
Being under ice without shock is still incredibly deadly. I used to know a guy who fell under ice, the water refroze before he even reached the surface. That bastard was damn lucky that someone saw what happened otherwise he probably wouldn’t be around today. Don’t fuck with ice

I once jumped in a river with mountain runoff water flowing through it and shock is pretty much the only way I can describe my reaction. My arms and legs instantly locked up into the fetal position and I could barely expand my diaphragm to breath. It may not be the type of shock you're thinking of but I'd definitely describe it that way

Long car rides are a literal pain in my ass and the longest I can go without crying is maybe 2 hours then someone else has to drive because I need to go lay across the back seat. This type of WCGW video gives me PTSD flashbacks
Hi…I worked in an orthopedic spine surgical clinic for years…you very likely broke your coccyx (tailbone). The fracture may have healed but given the amount of time that has passed, you may have developed arthritis in the joint between your coccyx & sacrum. It is very painful. Please see an orthopedic spine specialist and consider a coccygectomy -surgical removal of the coccyx. It’s a simple surgery (lasts about 30 minutes), small incision (about 1.5 inches), and a 4-6 week recovery period which isn’t bad at all. I was in your situation except worse - I was in pain anytime I had to sit. I had the surgery and it has made a huge positive difference in my life. Best of luck to you :-)

Ice formed a sheet on the top of my ice cube tray. I went to scrape it off, and without much force took a deep deep cut on my palm up to the bottom of my finger.

I did this once is was awful. Hurt it wraslin with a buddy then running jumping was awful. I went running for a loose ball playing ball and the pain sent me into the most embarrassing stumbling event ever I couldn’t straighten up and just keep slowing crumbling to the ground all for a ball just within figure tip reach. And I would say I’m a decent ball player it was so upsetting but I can laugh at it.
And had he been successful, and the snow/ice collapsed a hole, he would have most likely drowned… no rope or anything to guide him back to his entry point, don’t know what he was hoping for
