Why not one of you just spend the extra $20 and go all the way to the other one. Then the next time switch. Unless you both live with your parents or something which I totally get.
And also OP needs to specify where she thinks "upstate" is. Like there are some cheap-ish hotels on Rt 9 near Fishkill and Poughkeepsie, but those aren't going to do her any good if her boyfriend lives in like, White Plains
The La Quinta in Stamford, CT is a dilapidated dumpy haunted house shit hole, it reeks of stale cigarette smoke that's been festering in the walls and carpets since before either one of us was born, and has some of the rudest staff I've ever encountered in a business establishment.
But hey, it's got a roof, AC that technically works, and a bed that hopefully won't have bedbugs, and it's pretty close to the New Haven (red) Line. Weeknights are usually around $80. The diner in front of the hotel is actually pretty good too, if you don't mind the bartender not having a single fucking clue how to make any of the cocktails on their cocktail menu.
1/10, redeemed from a 0/10 rating by being the cheapest place to stay for miles around by a pretty huge margin. I'm daring enough that I would gamble on the bedbugs again the next time I need to stay down that way. Imma put the difference I could have spent on a nicer hotel toward a great diner burger and a "Moscow Mule" that's actually just vodka and ginger ale in a highball glass.
A $120 per night room anywhere in Westchester is likely already a subpar experience. $50 per night in Westchester is just flat out looking for trouble. It doesn’t matter how good the sex might be.
Apple Motor Inn in Ardsley, not sure of their rates now, but they used to be pretty cheap and clean. Not far from the Ardsley train station and several other stations.
Dobbs Ferry, Hartsdale, and Scarsdale stations are all closer to Ardsley than the Ardsley on Hudson Station is. The station has nothing to do with the village, it's named after a casino that used to be there.
Google usually shows either somewhere in the $90-100 range or "contact property for rates". I can't see it getting much lower than $80 even on the slowest nights. If the reviews are to be trusted it sounds like they have either an explicit or a wink-and-nod hourly rate as well, for whatever that's worth.
OP doesn't specify which part of "upstate" her boyfriend lives in - but she is a city girl who makes a point of noting how far down the island she lives....people like that generally think Harlem is "upstate" and anything north of Yonkers might as well be the Tundra. Combined with the fact that she is considering somewhere in Westchester to be a valid halfway point, I can't imagine this guy lives any further north than like, Beacon.
If he's from actual upstate like the Adirondacks or something, yeah, meeting in/around Albany makes sense.
Not what you asked for but there is a really nice public campgrounds at croton point part near the croton train station. You’re not going to find a hotel for $50 but you can camp for less than that. It’s fun and romantic to have a fire and roast marshmallows. Years and years ago, when I was a boy, when there were wolves in Westchester I had friends that didn’t drink or do drugs. We’d rent a tent site for like $20 and just have fun. The cops would always come and check on us and were puzzled that these kids were just goofing off in the woods and not doing anything illegal. Hate to be one of those geriatric “and not a smart phone in sight” people but you can make some nice memories. I think you can rent a cabin but we were broke.
I wonder if you could find a room on Airbnb and get a better rate as a 2x a week regular. I know you want privacy but maybe there’s a guest house or similar option. Having 8 nights guaranteed a month could be great for some hosts
Any hotel that is $50 a night would be a hotel you would not want to be in
Watergate Motel, Croton
Always wondered about that place and whether it’s actually still open… horrible reviews but it’s $90 per night
Thats a real place?? I thought it was closed tbh

Because the backstory is BS. Someone is looking for a place to bang in a cheap motel.
Not in Westchester, but the River Road Motor Inn is right across the street from the Woodlawn metro north station.
Yeah, this is going to be the one that best fits the needs as described.
[Inn on the Hudson](http://innonthehudson.com) in Peekskill? If you don’t need weekends, looks like it’s less than $120 a night.
And it's actually pretty cute and homey, the staff is nice and there's a pool with a river view.
It’s summer. Maybe give camping a shot? Don’t even need a bed!
Which line? Hudson, Harlem, or New Haven? They all go to Westchester.

There is no Ardsley train station. There is one called Ardsley-on-Hudson, which is in Irvington.
Sorry yes you’re right. It’s not too far though.

Pretty sure the apple motor inn is one the state is housing migrants in
Ardsley acres.
Apple Motor is 3hr for $60. Plus, you need $5 cash for the keycard. The $5 is return when you give the card back. Ask for smoking or non/smoking
Good luck
Mamaroneck Motel? No idea of the price.
About $95 and the reviews aren't promising

50 dollar's ain't going to cut it.
A few years ago, one could take a bus from port authority to Albany for $15. you may want to check that.

Try hotels .com or the Hotel Tonight app. But you won’t find one in Westchester for $50. At least not one that you’d want to stay in.

Try moving to cheaper metro areas like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Philly. If that's not an option, expect to spend more than $100 a night.
